Nice stay. Rooms very dated but so is Rome so not a big deal. Ridiculously small shower and im not massive! Location is great if you dont mind a walk...nice and quiet which is nice after a full day in the centre of Rome.

Good stay for the price. Onsite parking is available (for a small daily fee). Be aware that depending on your room, you may not stay at the "official" hotel but instead at what seems like a BNB in another building across the street. Room itself was fine for the price, room was cleaned daily, etc. Great location in the city. Overall - fair for the price.

The BEST Hotel in Rome!

This hotel is THE perfect stay in Rome! The location is super convenient for walking around to see all the sites. As for the rooms, it's kind of motel style in that the buildings are detached and all doors go directly outside. Personally I loved it and the area is perfectly curated to suit the "Garden" style. Good water pressure in the shower and they have a huge breakfast available every morning.

Great location for exploring Rome

This was the final stop in our trip around Italy. The location is about a 20 minute walk from Termini station. From the hotel there are numerous close tram and bus stops. Subway station is maybe 10-15 minutes. There are a couple small markets nearby as well as a gelato place close by across the street. There are bike lanes right outside the gate of the hotel. Now the room. Our room did not look like the pictures online. There seems to be some sort of restrictions in turning the AC down. We are used to arriving and turning the room into an icebox. Now keep in mind Rome was exceptionally, unseasonable warm during our visit. So not being able to cool the room made it difficult to get comfortable. Our was a first floor room with no screen to keep bugs out so leaving a window open wasn’t an option. The staff were wonderful. They did the best the could to explain the limitations on cooling the room. They provided some exceptional recommendations for dinner spots. We enjoyed every one of them.

Absolute joke of a hotel. No Air conditioning, blood stained bed sheets, one television channel, no elevator to the room - huge outdoor staircase. Pull out couch which was not listed. The shower was smaller than a telephone booth. The refrigerator did not work. They claim to take Amex then complain when you use it and pretend like it doesn’t work.

Good basic hotel in quiet location

We stayed for 4 nights in an Annex room. The good: clean, quiet area, good breakfast. Service was fine. The ‘Annex’ is in fact a 5 minute walk away in a separate building on another road. It’s more like a 1920s apartment block where one of the apartments has been turned into rooms. Four keys are required to access the rooms up a beautifully kept walkway. Whilst is is quiet and away from traffic the walls are very thin and room to room noise is a problem. The rooms are tiny with barely enough space to walk around the bed. The beds were solid and hard. The bathroom was tiny but had lots of hot water and a good shower. The air conditioning was a welcome relief. The location is outside the city walls and whilst public transport is good it is about a 30 minute walk to places like the Trevi Fountain. The main hotel may be better but we didn’t see any of the rooms there.

The hotel is not central but in a nice area. We were placed in a strange room with stained glass window - we asked to move but this was not accommodated. The room was very cold at night due to the huge glass window which fitted badly. The breakfast however was very good

Lovely break in this pleasant hotel

The staff were very friendly. Our room was in a separate building up a nearby street. It was very secure with a locked gate to access and the paths and gardens were well maintained. The stairwell could do with a little tender loving care, but we were pleasantly surprised by the rooms which had clearly been completely renovated recently. Excellent powerful and hot shower, firm bed, aircon, mini fridge, keypad operated safe and good sized wardrobe. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but some espresso cups and coffee provided which could be made in a shared kitchen. The breakfast was nice with some fresh fruit, croissant, bruschetta, cereal, eggs, bacon, etc. and the garden was lovely to sit in to eat it (albeit a lot of wasps also wanted some!). The location was on a busy road about a 40 minute walk from the Colosseum but there was a reasonable selection of restaurants within a 10 minute walk. A good base to see Rome if you are happy to be 30-40 minutes walk from the main tourist attractions. We had a very nice stay here.

There are many restaurants, very close to the hotel- even a bowling ally only 4 euros with Per person. The breakfast Buffett is excellent. A lot of choices! The cleanliness was excellent. The liners, towels , toilet, bed confort, and mirrors. The staff was attentive and curtíos. They even helped my friend surprise me for my birthday at breakfast with flowers. There was a cockroach leg on my bath towel. I was in rm 401, which was next to the elevator. The elevator shaft could be heard in my room as people rode the elevator. Also, This room is next to the janitorial closet. I peeked in the janitorial closet which the ceiling had only a plastic cover to prevent wind and rain from getting it. It didn’t have an actual roof as the ceiling. This was not sanitary because this closet room stored clean bath towels and bed sheets.

Nice hotel and close to main attractions in Rome.

The Hotel is well located and convenient area. The staff is nice and friendly which give good customer service. I was in room 410 and it was very disapponting to see 3 bedbugs in the white sheets and one in the pillow. They were medium size so they have been there for awhile. The room was clean and the bathroom net and spotless. Working in hospitality I know about this problem with bedbugs, my suggestion to the front desk person was to fumigate the room, they could have been in the headboard, or matress. Sin the room is with carpet, maybe are in the corners of the carpets. This is a common problem in Europe and Asia but owners must be very careful and fumigate the rooms at least once a month or every other month. The rest of my stay was good !

Great staff, homey feeling

If you're a westerner that's used to big chain hotels... Marriott, Crown Plaza, Embassy Suites, etc... you will have to adjust your thinking a little. I am the most scornful person on earth, but even I liked this hotel. The room was super clean, and the staff was super friendly and helpful, especially Sal and Paulo!! Those guys felt like family. The breakfast was also good enough (clean and what you would get from complimentary breakfast at Comfort Inn). It's down the street from the bus stop (1 minute walk). It's also about 10 minutes from the city center by bus. I would suggest you buy a 3-day Roma pass so that you could get unlimited bus, train, and 2 museums included all for under $40 USD. If you have any hesitation, I'm telling you right now that you shouldn't. Go ahead and book this hotel now. I would absolutely stay here again.

Moved to another hotel!

We can't accurately rate this hotel as on arrival they moved us to a sister hotel. They didn't clearly explain why other than saying they had a system problem, the spoken English of the Receptionist was poor. We should really have stood our ground but we were tired, hungry and wanted to freshen up so agreed to go to the other hotel that was in the city centre. The other hotel was the Locanda Carolie which was a small but nice hotel in a good location but there was a lot of city noise and we didn't sleep well. They did offer us a room away from the street after our first night which had no tram noise but was still quite noisy and was very small. We were able to get everywhere on foot but our original choice was deliberately made to give us quiet nights. I got the feeling they had over booked and I wonder if this is something they often do. I would advise others to stand their ground. We did ask for an explanation when we got to the other hotel but they also were unable to explain. If you don't mind city noise I would recommend Locanda Carolie and the ratings above refect that.

Decent hotel in quiet area

This hotel was about a 15 min walk to the subway station so it was easy to get around from there. The air conditioner in our room worked well (when we were in Rome it was 85+ F). The hotel is about a 10 min walk to the nearest Metro (subway). We had a great experience the staff and the complimentary breakfast was superb. The room was cozy and the beds were comfortable. The restaurants around the hotel are not over priced like the restaurants around the main attractions. I would recommend the Chinese restaurant across from the hotel their food was great. its not only about money!

To be very honest,we just love this lovely hotel! would like to give out 4 points, if its not because of the unfair experience: We booked five nights with Rome Garden, and paid the whole amount in advance, 48 hours before check in we were informed by the airline the flight will be cancelled due to the strike at Rome airport, we informed the hotel right away, since its not our fault we demanded hotel to refund one night room charge. Our request was denied, answer was its the Rome airport's problem not hotel...Rome airport and hotels in Rome aren't you are together represent Rome? Hotel industry is a hospitality business, you suppose to put human, service and reputation above all...we are very disappointed, there is not only the money can save the business!

The hotel is very inviting and pleasant. Nice decorative touches and a great little gem. Far from must-see sights, but the bus station is only 2 blocks away. The breakfast is excellent and sufficient. Great service and the decor is beautiful. Our room was very nicely decorated, clean and the bed sheets were very soft.

Average hotel

The hotel was just ok. Everything was average. Could have been much better with greater attention to detail. Little issues we had were: upon arrival we have been transferred to another hotel for one night due to booking system error, the water was pooling in shower cubicle, the outer shutters have been falling apart an door to the mini balcony was hard do close. The breakfast choice was average as well. Some staff were quite helpfull, especially one of the check-in clerks who gave us a map and explained all the nearby bus rotes etc.

Friendly hotel

Friendly staff who gave useful information about local transport etc. Recommended a very good restaurant for evening meals -brilliant! Breakfast - good choice, but no breakfast bag available for those checking out earlier than 7am :( Overall a lovely stay at Hotel Rome Garden & would definitely stay again. Could walk to most places, if you're a walker (we are) but buses very easy too.

Good but could be much better

The hotel and its rooms are nice and romantic, but don't count on sleeping in as the doors are paper thin and you will be woken up early by other guests and then the cleaning staff. Decent selection at breakfast, but no fresh coffee?!

Low price but too far from Tourist attractions

The hotel was clean, but NOT comfortable. The pictures show a beautiful outdoor area to sit but unfortunately it is full of mosquitoes and bugs, so do not imagine yourself relaxing out there with a cup of coffee! We were eaten alive! Additionally the breakfast is horrible. Old meat and bread and the smell of eggs is very unappealing. The breakfast room is small and very hot, no air circulation. We tried to eat the fist day as it is included in the room price but all other days ate at a cafe down the road. The walk or cab to town was possible, but we could not slip back to the room during the day, we would have full day excursions out then cab back to the hotel for about 20 Euro each way. The hotel staff spoke very little English, and was rude much of the time. They have an archaic key system, only one key per room so if you have older children coordination is ridiculous. I would recommend staying closer into Rome and paying a bit more.

Good Hotel

The Hotel was clean and well managed. Breakfast was adequate although they could improve on the selection available. We had a double room which was kept clean and was pleasant to stay in. The only downside is that they should keep a mirror in the room. The location of the hotel is slightly out of the city centre however this is big plus as it is a quiet area. Public transport is great you can access the bus 60 or 62 to get into town. However we purchased a 3 day pass which you can use on buses and metro underground tubes. Its not that expensive and using the underground metro is the most convenient way to travel. About 10 min walk to the nearest metro which are clearly marked M in red. You will find this service runs very well and allows you acces to all parts of teh main attractions. Wear good walking shoes or trainers you will be doing alot of walking to see the city, the hotel is near a supermarket and we purchased bottled water and other snacks and drinks. In the city you will find alot of these items expensive so taking your own is ideal. Eating out is very easy Rome has many many eating places, however, word of advise look around and check the prices before you decide to sit to eat. Especially near main attractions prices are hiked up. You will find many side streets which are reasonably priced. The hotel will provide you with a good map and will tell you where you can get the buses and metros from.

A hotel with nice garden

They indeed has a nice garden, which is perfect for breakfast. I love the view out of my window and the home feeling of the room, which is why I give 5 stars for the room comfort. Everything is very clean and the staff is very friendly. A bit far from subway station. You should consider bus if you are a tourist.

Away from the madness, but accessable

We got off to a bit of a bad start at Rome Garden, when we arrived at 4pm and our room still wasn't ready. But things went uphill after that. It was nice to be away from the madness of Rome and yet still be able to reach tourist destinations. If you're used to walking, it's not a problem to walk to the centro storico or the Trevi Fountain. Both the Blue and the Red metros are about 15 minute walks. The desk staff are courteous and will help you get dinner reservations, airport shuttles, or taxis, and will give you directions to where you'd like to get (beware the busses, though, they're not always regular and you really have no way of knowing when the one you're waiting for might appear). Breakfast was plentiful and starts early enough to make a day of it in Rome, and the hotel serves great coffee -- be sure to note you can order it from a server rather than get it out of the self-serve machine! The room was a bit warm but other than that, no complaints.

Close to all must see sights

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Garden Rome, the hotel is close to Termini station where you can hop on a bus and go to anyplace in Rome you like. The hotel is kept in a modern state. The shower is big not like most Italian hotel rooms.I enjoyed the staff who were pleasant and accommodating. My only issue was the size of the parking available; the parking lot is small, possibly room for at most 5 cars. Please make sure if you have a car you rent a small car. There is parking on the streets outside the hotel but it is limited to a stay of 3 hours at a time. Fortunately, the city does not have adequate parking police to monitor this. The other point I would like to make is that it is a small hotel type Villa. The rooms are close together around the elevator so you might get some noise from the other guests. for me it was not an issue but worth mentioning. Otherwise a great modern hotel with amble conveniences in Rome.

That guy at the desk looked like. He's rude and had words with some of the guests. We felt like we were bothering him at asking basic questions. My breakfast was good but the place is a 15 min bus ride away from a lot of it. Plan ahead they are not helpful here on where to go. Don't go to the prizza place they say, we were hustled on a dessert that we thought it was free. The rooms very clean

Great location & price

Location handy for the bus or metro, can even wander into the centre in good time. Some great bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood too which made the stay all the better. Only downside was that we had the ground floor room, right by reception so it was rarely quiet, but after a day walking around the city sleep wasn't a problem. Shower space could be bigger, but all in all would stay again.

paper thin walls, noise and rudeness

Did not have a single night's rest due to the noise from the street, from the staff, from other guests at the hotel. The first night we were greeted by a very rude man - thank God he was not there the rest of our stay - we saw him again on the day we left. The breakfast was nothing special and there was nothing else provided by the hotel. Even the sitting area in the so called "garden" was dismantled at the end of the breakfast and there wasn't even a place to sit outside after breakfast was over. There are many many options and this is not the best one. Not a convenient location either - do not believe that it is within walking distance to anything - IT IS NOT! Bus + Metro for most places and then a 4 block walk after you get off the bus to get to the hotel. The room was clean - that was the ONLY PLUS.

Beautiful hotel with great room

Very beautiful hotel with spacious room. Room was very clean with excellent daily housekeeping. Bathroom was fitted to 5* standard. Large TV with Sky channels as well. Excellent location less than 3 minutes walk from tram and bus stops. A bit far (10 minutes walk) from metro station though. But rome metro is not extensive anyway. Tram and especially bus is the way to go, connecting you to everywhere in rome. Cross the street from the hotel front and you will be in a very local neighbourhood.

Location is good as well, there is a bus stop in front of the hotel where you can take buses to anywhere in Rome and there's also a subway station close by (10 min walking). The area has many restaurants and shops, which is great. The only downside is the noise from other rooms and halway, you can listen to everything from your room, but that's the only negative thing. one of my favourite hotels ever

Of all the many hotels I've stayed in around the world, this is one of my top favourites. Lovely location back from the streets, free parking, nice breakfast, great garden patio to eat at, felt like a more authentic experience than a chain hotel. Room was very clean, modern and lovely. We stayed in one of the rooms in the couryard (rather than the high-rise hotel building) and it was just lovely. Wish I could have stayed here all week...or all summer! Loved it! Location was good. Just 1-2 blocks up to catch bus to major sights just 15 mins away or so.

Long Weekend in Rome

The hotel is situated in a quiet area of Northern Rome, and is a short (15minute) walk from the main train and bus station. Great welcome from desk staff, with information about buses and tickets etc. Room was large, light and airy and despite being at the front of the hotel was very quiet. Buffet breakfast has a variety of foodstuffs to choose from to set you up for a day of sightseeing. Local buses pass on the street outside to take you to where you want to go, but Trevi Fountain is a 20minute walk and the Vatican City is about a 45minute gentle stroll. Overall a very good hotel that we will recommend to friends and are likely to use again.

Overbooked

We originally booked with Hotel Rome Garden, but on arrival were informed they had overbooked the hotel. The manager was very friendly and apologetic. This hotel is a part of a group, so we were automatically put up in the Hotel Trevi (a location more central- almost next to the Trevi Fountain). We were very pleased with the service, but internet is a separate charge. The room was quaint and average in appearance, but very clean and comfortable.

The rooms were clean and the breakfast was okay. This hotel is not very close to the tourist sites by walking. It is about 30 minutes to the Spanish steps and further to the other sites. There is a bus stop within a 5 minute walk. The wireless was not free and did not work well in the room. Though it was not very expensive.

The hotel is very charming with a beautiful garde. Breakfast was very good to get you started for our long visiting days. The staf was very nice and very helpful when providing information. The combination of price and location is very good; there is no need for paying more at a so-called better location; there is a bus stop a block from the hotel where you can catch buses to all the important points within the city. Convenient for transport to all areas.

At first sight the hotel did not match up to what I had imagined, BUT what a lovely small warm and welcoming hotel. The breakfast was good and plentiful. We were in a room on the ground floor which opened onto a courtyard which led down to the Garden, where you could take breakfast outside. The staff were really helpful and were there to help. I could not have wished for better. Transport was easy, bus stops nearby, Metro a short walk and very easy to walk into the old town. Right opposite down a side street there were plentiful restaurants, one of which served the most fantastic pasta dishes I had never heard of - we returned three nights out of four. Tip, do your shopping whilst out as the main shops are a walk away and after a tiring day sightseeing you dont want to go out again shopping!

Liked the area for this hotel. Just a little outside the hustle and bustle but walkable to a lot. The room was tiny with not much light coming in, although the bathroom was good size. The building looked very old and impressive. The staff was super. The breakfast was decent, although I'm not a breakfast eater. The garden aspect was very nice with lots of greenery and gave the impression of being out of the city. I would stay again but ask for a bigger room. Great little Hotel but expensive internet.

My only complaint is that like most hotels in Europe they all charge for Internet service. This was very expensive for our tech savy family we needed 5 devices (2 Ipads and 3 Iphones) 2 teenagers that kept status updates re face book, my wife plotting the next days tours, and a family blog. My point here is that these hotels don't get this and it will be more and more typical and charging for internet will eventually be eliminated. I had to purchase 4 internet uses at each cost per 24 hours. (each internet usage voucher was good for only 1 device) It got quite expensive. If you need and would like good access to internet don't stay here, otherwise it's 5 stars.

The Rome Garden Hotel, an amazing deal!

My wife and I stayed there for 7 nights and loved it! The staff, starting with the receptionist, were all great! the breakfast was included and it was a great deal, especially considering how expensive restaurants can be in Europe. The little villa-like hotel was just very quaint, comfortable, clean and inviting. Although it is right outside the central Rome area, there is a bus stop right across the street where severa bus routes run continuously with a couple of routes going to the main attractions. Also, it is a 15 minute walk to the Borghese Gallery and park, a must see in Rome. We would love to go back and stay there again, hopefully seeing the same friendly and helpful staff. We totall loved it and highly recommend it!
