Close to sights, nice location. Plenty to do near hotel

Great location

Not long back from our stay. Lovely hotel in a great location, walking distance to everything. Great facilities and helpful staff. The rooftop igloo bar had a better view than some of the more touristy rooftop bars & served delicious cocktails/hot palinka drinks. Breakfast had a great selection of foods & our gluten free needs were accommodated without issue, staff even remembered us & provided GF bread each morning without being asked. We made use of the hot tub , the only thing that could’ve made this hotel better would’ve been the indoor pool being in use (but we were aware at the time of booking). Would definitely go back

Location was superb. Also the surroundings were very pleasant. Just what I like. Breakfast offered a number of items (such as tuna in oil) not offered at other hotels I stayed in during my trip.

Ideally located hotel

Very good stay - staff and location ideal. Only 'downside', bars shut at 10pm. Eould havd been nice to have been able to come back for a drink after being out all day. This wouldn't be an issue for others. Would highly recommend!

The Hotel is in a great location. About between 3 - 5 minute walk to two different metro lines and stations. Great Breakfast, salty and sweet options, many various foods, fruits and choices. The President has the best breakfast that I have had in Europe. Friendly staff and welcoming environment.

We were right next to a beautiful building which made it very easy to find our way back to the hotel! Rooftop bar has a fantastic view you can't beat! Very nice location in area 5, convenient and close to many of the top sites we wanted to see. The staff was excellent and very helpful. Breakfast was awesome to fuel us up for a big day of experiencing such an incredible city. So glad we went to Budapest and stayed at The President. We saw the other options we almost selected and we were so grateful we had chosen this hotel!

It was a very hotel, however during our stay there was a convention going on and my room happened to be on the far end of the hotel so I had to Edmonton through the main hall of hotel where they had their food set up and had to maneuver my way through with the luggage. Also the elevators were confusing and was not explained at check in. Good location to Cathedral and restaurants.

No air conditioning in street level room. Advised to leave windows open instead. Kept awake until 5am by loud party goers passing by.

3 night stay.

Lovely hotel and value for money. Check in staff not up to standard of the hotel itself. Think training but not knowledgeable enough about parking situation around hotel which was a shame. Otherwise excellent stay and would stay again.

Really nice place, safe and quiet

It was a very fast, easy check-in. Staff took our bags and the location is perfect for a quick walk to the Hungarian parliament and back to get our keys at 3 pm. All very friendly and excellent breakfast bar.

Disappointing for the price paid

Overall, the hotel is average at best. The location is good and central in Budapest. Our room was serviced everyday, which is a nice change from recent experience at other places after COVID. Other services are however very disappointing. You have to scan a QR code to request services - you can’t phone reception. We requested a clothes iron 3 times this way, and also asked reception in person another 2 times - we are still waiting today and could not iron our clothes for the wedding we were attending. The towel warmer was not working, also not the hand shower. This was also not addressed after using the QR code to request this to be addressed. The response time was also not good, it took more than 3 hours for a response after commenting on the site, and then none of the issues were addressed as per above. The bathroom also shows signs of excessive wear and tear. The plastic trim on the shower door is broken. The sleeper couch is not comfortable at all. Overall, I would not recommend the hotel especially not for the price paid.

Not as advertised.

Not so good, the new building does not have Air Condition so the room was extremely hot., the pool is closed for maintenance and the roof top as well.

It was pretty comfortable, good breakfast, helpful staff, it’s just a pity the room was just a little small

Location was great. The room was ok we asked for a king size bed and got 2 twins that we could hardly turn around in. They never said to us that the wine in the room was ours.

The hotel was clean. The rooms are basic, I'd question the 4 star rating..? They compare to traveldoge style.

I like the hotel and specifically its location, but the rooms are not like in the photos, they are very small and the TV contains only 5-6 channels. The room service was very bad during my stay, I tried to request champagne bottles and the receptionist kept saying that I have to go and take them by myself in the 7th floor. Considering that this is a 5 star hotel, the spa is awful and only the jacuzzi and sauna works; whereas when there are more than 6 people you feel uncomfortable because of the tight space…

Good location

Nice hotel and good location. The main reason we booked this one was the spa department, but it was out of order on the day of our visit, and had too short opening hours for us to use it the day after (5pm-9pm) The breakfast was great, but the rooms a lot smaller than the pictures. It worked for a short stay.

Good location

Newer property. Very clean. Younger staff didn't wear masks. Staff was helpful. When we asked for a cab they called a private driver in a Mercedes. Walking distance to sights.

Hotel President in Budapest provided an excellent and special 4 star hotel experience for our stay. Based on our stay, we look forward to returning. This is because Hotel President in Budapest is committed to exceptional customer service.

The hotel reception process was very smooth and efficient. The initial impression upon entering the hotel was very positive.

We used the hotel pool, sauna and hot tub every day. It made for a relaxing holiday. The buffet breakfast is amazing and has absolutely everything you could possibly need, cold meats, cheeses, salad, yoghurt, cereals, fruit, selection of breads, pastries, large selection of hot food, plus plenty of choice of drinks both hot and cold. Great breakfast

The breakfasts were really good. There was a range of different things to eat. We were really disappointed with the room we originally got put in. We paid for a superior room and the girst room was decorated like a superior room but the bed was 2 singles pushed together and the shower was over the bath when it should have been a walk in shower. I have a problem with my leg and needed my husbandto help me in and out the shower. We complained and got an alternative room and although it was one large bed and a walk in shower i wouldnt say it was a 4* hotel. The tea/coffee making facilities was a coffee machine that if you made coffee before tea you had to then rinse (using all the water) to make sure the water was running clear.

The mattress was very uncomfortable- tmuch too hard

Good location, central to lots of the landmarks e.g. 5 min walk to parliament building or basilica. Nice big rooms, very clean and plenty of complimentary toiletries, water etc. Pleasant and helpful staff. Good breakfast as well, decent choice of pastries, breads, cereals, fruit, as well as a few warm options. Overall very nice stay and would recommend.

Disappointing in every way...

I spent a little bit more than i usually would to stay in what seemed to be a grand 4-star quality hotel. In large part, this was for the roof terrace where i imagined going to late at night to watch the city pass by with a hot drink in my hand and to get a unique view of the nearby parliament building. When i got there and asked how to get to the terrace, the staff told me it wouldnt open until summer even though the website shows it with an icerink on it and doesnt say anywhere that the terrace was closed. I felt duped, and robbed - and the staff couldn't have cared less, actively rolling their eyes and sighing as i spoke when i explained that i thought it was wrong that id been mislead out of my money. The hotel is in a deadly quiet area with no easy access to anything past 8pm when their pool and restaurant closes. Even the basic things were bad, like having two small single duvets on a double bed, meaning i woke up cold every night between two tiny duvets and the cheap low-quality toiletries. I'd urge you to stay anywhere else - the quality doesn't justify the expense.

Great breakfast, great rooms, didn’t make use of the facility’s couldn’t of wished for a better hotel

The roof terrace wasnt available and thats the one thing i looked forward too. We acutally went to use another at a different venue.

An absolutely lovely stay. Very comfortable room with a comfy bed! Delicious breakfast with lots to pick from. The spa facility was a great added bonus fab to chill after a busy day of exploring. The location was also ideal, and overall lovely stay.

The first room was to hot and the second room was too cold and it was leaking from the roof in the bathroom.

Reception staff just shockingly unfriendly! Feels like if you ask one more question you will get a slap back. Hotel it self amazing. Super clean wow we were amazed. We had new years dinner at hotels restaurant , service amazing , food ok. Breakfast fantastic choice, spa awsome too. Roof top bar and ice skating was cool expierence too.

Hotel rooms very warm and towells changed daily. Easy access to sightseeing . Unfortunately roof top bar closed at 9pm and there was no atmosphere in thehotel bar.

Loved the location, easily reach all the attractions and in a quite area. The spa was lovely and the breakfast was most acceptable. There was nothing we didn’t like apart from a damaged sink in room 216.

Lovely entrance to the hotel, friendly staff, good location pool was also very good with a sauna and hot tub. Only thing letting it down was our double room was two single beds pushed together which really isn’t acceptable in a 4* hotel. The rooms also need soundproofing as the corridor was very loud.

I did not like the fact that i have to exit one building thru some stairways to another building to get to my room. Wifi was always in and out. There are no clear instructions written on the telephone on how to call the operator or front desk, instructions are written in a binder placed next to the bed.

Good place to stay in Budapest!

Great hotel in a great location! Hotel has decent spa facilities for no extra charge - so it was lovely for a swim after a full day of walking! The main hotel was beautiful and modern - however our room didn’t quite match up to our expectations, it seemed very dated! Still comfortable though! Breakfast was good too.

Everthing was excellent, but the wifi. Connection patchy at best sometimes nonexistent

Lovely hotel

I stay at this hotel regularly. It is always very clean and it's location is perfect as it is central to where I work. Very good gym and pool and a decent breakfast.

Great location, great breakfast, BUT ...

This is a lovely hotel, perfectly placed to explore all the main sites, and within easy reach of the metro and bus systems. Lots of local cafes, restaurants and bars yet tucked away down a quiet street in a safe area. Everything was spotless and in excellent condition. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was superb, a huge range of choices that were constantly replenished. BUT … the room was a bit hot and stuffy (air-con needs upgrading) and the service from the room staff was rather haphazard! One day they took all our towels and didn't replace them (and I didn't realise until I was about to step into the shower); another day they folded up my wet towel I'd left hanging to dry so it was still damp when I came to use it again; and yet another day they walked into the room in the morning when we'd left the do not disturb sign up. If you can get your act together with all this, I'd give you 10 out of 10.

The overall welcome is so warm,the amazing breakfast buffet that is as good on the eyes as it is on the taste buds, and the incredible friendly staff. They were very kind and recognised our 30th anniversary with a gifted sparkling wine which was so kind. Simply this is a hotel that goes the extra mile

The pool was lovely. Our room was quite hot and humid and I don’t think the air conditioning worked well. Nice quiet location but still close to everything

Ok if you need this location.

Decent enough hotel although the front staff was not so inviting, just somewhat cold personally. Also there is lemon and lime water jugs at the front lobby but they always seemed empty. your room is inside an enclosed courtyard which echos very badly. At 2AM when inconsiderate people return to their rooms at a loud pace talking and slamming doors it is sure to wake you several times per night. I won’t stay here again because of this, it’s terrible. The breakfast provided is pretty good. The rooms are small and you almost have to squeeze into the shower stall as the door hits the toilet. It’s a poor design for a hotel room. The biggest issue was the carpet in our room. It was stained from previous tenants and it requires a real cleaning. I didn’t want to remove my shoes in this room. I don’t see why this is not cleaned after each stay or at least reported by cleaning staff. Clean your carpets because it should be very clean for the amount paid for this room. Glad we only stayed 2 nights. We are now staying in a much cleaner hotel room in Budapest for same amount of money paid.

Think of no other place than the president hotel

The hotel has everything from roof top bars to spas and a perfect location. The service was amazing very friendly and welcoming.

I loved everything about this hotel: great central location, very friendly and helpful staff, awesome breakfast buffet, very nice rooms. Lots of excellent restaurants in the same block, and many tourist sites, including the Danube River cruises, Chain Bridge, and Buda Castle, are within walking distance. I hope to visit Budapest again, and I will definitely stay there, and recommend it to friends who plan to visit. Amazing job!

Wonderful hotel with great facilities ....

Great hotel with excellent pool and spa facilities. We paid for buffet breakfast as part of our rate which was excellent with different hot food choices each morning and they even had Prosecco on ice if you fancied a glass or a Buck’s Fizz. Location of hotel is good, a short stroll to the Basilica and square where there are a huge variety of bars and restaurants. A very enjoyable stay at the President Hotel. Would definitely stay there again.

Rooms look nothing like the pictures. Stayed here before and rooms were ok. This time we were shoved on the over side of hotel with dingy rooms. Not even a head board on the bed. I am in Budapest for many trips and wont be visiting back due to poor rooms for the price paid.

Not an impressive hotel in Budapest!

Unfortunately, my overall experience of the hotel is far below its 4-star rating. Unnecessary delays in the checkin, too small rooms, problem with air conditioning in the room, difficult to locate for the first time as it uses two different names on the main entrance. Positive experiences include nice and friendly attitude and professionalism of the staff at the help desk, and pretty decent breakfast, and nice location.

It was a very welcoming hotel- very efficient and they did everything to make my stay memorable- I would highly recommend this hotel

Perfect location. Major attractions all within walking distance and a safe area to walk around as the Hotel is next to the US Embassy.

We had a fantastic stay! Absolutely loved this hotel, and a great spa!

Location excellent. Room was in new part of building which was claustrophobic with no external window. Very small room. Floor outside room was tiled so very noisy all night with other guests walking past with cases etc. If we hadn’t been given a room in older part of building we would have left to find other accommodation, it was so bad. Access to the Dining room from new part of building is via a back stair with heavy fire doors, really ugly. Dining room in basement, also has no windows and is claustraphobic. Not a pleasant room to sit in. No kettle in room, just a noisy coffee machine, horrible coffee pods which were not replaced. Also mini bar not restocked. Staff did not offer to phone ahead or assist us in going to an out of town shooting facility, simply said it was very good. On being dropped off in taxi we found it was closed for the day and booking ahead was essential. Hotel staff were not knowledgeable on this and if they were certainly did not advise us. Overall a disappointing hotel, unfriendly, tiny claustraphobic rooms and dining area. Will definitely not recommend or return

The property itself is lovely. However there was one day our room was not cleaned, for reasons unknown. There was an item in the mini fridge that had already been opened and 3/4 drunk, not by us.

The hotel was a nice hotel, however, the rooftop terrace was unavailable and this was not disclosed throughout the booking process, this is the first time i have used expedia to book a trip so after hearing such great reviews i was disappointed that a fact so vital was not shared before paying for the holiday, As well as this we could hear the drill from the work they were carrying out on the roof which was not told to us upon check in either. Very disappointed as the main reason we chose this hotel was becuase of the rooftop terrace bar.

Rooms were good. Not that big but wall Painting very cleverly made to look much bigger. 2 single beds pushed together with a duvet each. Nespresso machine with 4 free pods and others to buy for €1 each. Spa nice. 2 saunas and big jacuzzi and 15m pool with lots of sunbeds and free towels.

It is a very nice hotel its very close to the cente its also very clean and lays on a good breakfast I would recommend this hotel .

Swimming pool and breakfast were good. Great location and quiet. Sadly ,we were woken at 7.00 by decorators painting outside our room which we hadn't been pre warned about .The area was filled with decorating equipment. Appears to be a conference hotel but suited us for a four night break and very reasonably priced.

Roof terrace not available, which was one of the reasons for booking here. Wellness centre is good, but went there on 2 occasions and both times either the jaccusi or the sauna were out of service. Had to request and had difficulty in getting the room changed due to poor natural light. In new room the AC didn't work and room was very hot. Breakfast was excellent, and staff were generally friendly.

POSITIVES:Exterior is beautiful old building in an excellent location near Parliament. Rooms are new additions in rear of building. Quiet at night unless people are in lobby or there is party on roof, see below. Very good courteous staff. Fabulous self sevice breakfast. NEGATIVES:Windows open into courtyard which is covered with a glass roof. Nice looking but noisy even with window closed, since sound travels in a vortex. Renovations were ongoing daily from 8am to 4pm, but it is off season. Tiny shower stall, TV mounted on side wall and ar weird anle for viewing.

Not as expected and shown in the app or website

We stayed in this hotel as a couple over New Years and booked a standard double room. Unfortunately it was not at all as it was shown on all the websites. The wall and the bathroom was dirty, the room was very small and the bed wasn’t made. This room was far away of hitting the standards of a 4 star hotel. The receptionist wasn’t a great help either. No apology and no understanding, after a long discussion the customer relationship manager gave us a twin bed room with a promise to bring our baggage in the room as well as to transform the bed into a double bed. When we came back to the hotel, nothing was fixed- they left our baggage in the old room, without any checking in and the bed wasn’t made either. Again no apology or any will to change something. The following days we got several times visits of the chambermaid at 7am in the morning and after telling her, please come back later, she didn’t listen and came back after 20 minutes. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, as the rooms don’t look like in the pictures and I would say the standard of the hotel would be rather a solid 3 star. A good thing though, the location is very central and surrounded by beautiful tourist attractions.

New year in Budapest

Hotel was lovely and staff helped out when we had any issues. Main issue was the room temperature was very high and could only be controlled by the main desk, and we kept having to do it as they didn't keep it at that. Additionally, though only a small point, the room was internal with no outside window, which would also have helped with temperature. Food was lovely and the central location was excellent for sightseeing. Would definitely recommend a stay when in town

The hotel was ok... however, the new addition had major heating and cooling issues. We are used to traveling in Europe with limited (or no) air conditioning... however, the heating was having issues. The staff were not overly friendly (we have traveled to Budapest several times before and stayed at other resorts where the staff were very friendly and welcoming). Lastly, the rooms were not very clean. The location was great and very convenient so for that I would recommend, but for service or WiFi (the process to login was convoluted, and it wouldn't accept my email address so I had to route through via Facebook, and do a multi-factor authentication which required turning on the data). Again, the hotel was ok, but we will not be staying there for future stays.

Hotel in good location , friendly staff, excellent breakfast choice although hot food needs to be a lot hotter . The rooms need maintenance table between beds collapsed lot of wood damage and towels in need to be replaced very thin. But my biggest bug bear has to be paying for room coffee they gift you four pods then you need to purchase more which I consider outrageous never in any hotel all over the world have I ever had to pay for coffee in room

Great hotel Great value in amazing Budapest

Loved this hotel. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast was great. On our last day, we were leaving before breakfast so they made us box breakfasts to go. I liked the are -- a little less touristy but a great location. Easy walk to several hop on hop off bus stops.

Great stay here close to all the attractions in walking distance. Amazing breakfast included. Highly recommend. Bed comfortable too.

Wonderful hotel, great location, quiet & safe...really nice breakfast and we used the Spa every day...

We stayed there 9 nights...it was an excellent location....close to the Parliament area and the big basilica. Walking distance to the Metro line and to the Danube River. Many great restaurants nearby. Small market hall (Belvadrosi Piac) right on the same street was a great place to get something to eat, as well. Safe area, as the Hungarian Treasury building is right across the street, and the American Embassy right behind that. Staff was very helpful. Temperature in our room was a little hot and couldn't seem to get it under control with the gauge, so we just opened the windows. Breakfast good. Couldn't have found a better place for the price we paid.

Good hotel and central location

The hotel provided a useful base to visit the Basilica, plus only a short trip to the rest of the town, sites, river and hot water spa. A good range of places to eat including Hungarian.

I was put in Room 307 it’s stand alone room by the stair case it’s weird because it looks like it was an add on and it’s not part of the hotel The room was small It was dated and missing deals and furniture for the room! it also had no place for me to put my luggage and there were cracks all over the wall! the ac unit also didn’t work very good Bed was comfortable

Amazing breakfast included! The rooms are tiny... we now know what 197m looks like. We would have liked a cleaner bathroom. Overall amazing location in the inner city and just behind the US Embassy.

Nice hotel with a great location

In general a good hotel, location is fantastic close to major attractions with a huge choice of nearby restaurants which we found to be excellent quality and very good value Breakfast at the hotel was good, although it seemed to run short of cups and dishes when busy, if I was being fussy the fruit juice and coffee machines didn’t offer the best juice or coffee but it was acceptable The room was fairly small but with good facilities, the one issue I had was we were expecting a double bed but found 2 singles pushed together with 2 single duvets and sheets, consequently it was uncomfortable and in the morning we found we were laying on the bed with no sheets below us. I been down to reception to enquire about another room but there was already someone else there complaining being told the hotel was full and they couldn’t be moved so I didn’t pursue the matter I didn’t use the pool or gym but could both were excellently equipped The rooftop bar offered stunning night time views of the city and has to be visited

Nice Place

Hotel President is very nice and centrally located. The pool/spa area is very tranquil and clean. We went there everyday during our stay to wind-down at the end of the day. The breakfast that was included was excellent with a huge variety. We were able to visit the amazing rooftop bar once but when we wanted to conclude our trip and go up there again it was closed for a private function. I would think they would keep a section open for hotel guests???!!?? The rooms are spacious but very sterile. Some art on the bare walls would warm up the room. The main shower head didn't work and the shower door was faulty so water leaked all over the floor. Our used towels would end up on the floor to soak up the big puddle. We also wished there was an easy way to get some ice in the room. When we called about it they said we had to go up ourselves to the patio bar to get some (not convenient). Enjoyable stay, would stay here again.
