Beautiful waterfront property near downtown Amsterdam, right next to the Pontsteiger ferry stop. Westerpark is easily walkable which is a nice change of pace from the city centre. Plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops with significantly less tourist traffic! Staff was extremely helpful and accommodating! Note all rooms are on the ground level, and wifi was spotty likely because of all concrete pillars. Rooms are also typically small like most European city centre hotels
Great location near the harbour in Westerpark. Walking distance to lots of shops and on convenient transit route. Unit very clean and staff helpful BUT AC system in our section of hotel not working after first day. Temp very hot and uncomfortable even with 2 fans running. Difficulty sleeping at night and because it was a fix for contractor problem wasnt resolved during our 3 nite stay because it happened on a weekend. Staff helpful as best they could. Shout out to Olena for being very gracious despite issue.
The staff were incredible! They also managed to organize a small surprise for my wife which was really appreciated. Location is great and rooms are really comfortable!
Amazing view of the river, very clean and spacious room, excellent house keeping. Will definitely stay again
We enjoyed our stay here, friendly and helpful staff, and convenient location. Like the concrete ceilings and industrial feel. The room did not have a fridge nor a curtain on the shower so there was a cold breeze while I showered. Windows don’t open.
Lovely hotel
Staff are very great and helpful
Funky hotel close to free ferry port
This hotel is about a scenic 25 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central Station. Outside the hotel is a free ferry across the river to NDSM, from there there is another regular free ferry that takes you to Amsterdam Central Station. The hotel is located on the ground floor of a funky larger complex. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Room was smallish, but with a huge walk in shower. Cleanliness downgraded after rubbish found behind the curtain on arrival, probably an oversight. Would stay here again though.
Amazing property and wonderful staff
The view of the boats is the only thing going for this place. Definitely should not be considered 4 star.
Pleasantly surprised
Very nice rooms and service.
I was swapped to a different hotel because of parking issues, stayed at sister hotel Roemer. Amazing staff, very comfortable bed and had a jacuzzi bath! Very good location, right in the centre of town. The origional hotel also looked lovely, staff were very helpful when it came to transferring me to the Roemer.
Amazing staff, positive/smiling all the time. Interiors were built to the detail, full of light, great paintings, perfect rental bikes....we felt very welcomed. Thanx.
I liked the location very much. My room didn't have a view (it was an 'inside' room) but as I was out all day from early at a conference it was not a problem and it was dark enough when I wanted to go to sleep. The bathroom facilities were well appointed and I liked the toiletries very much - they smelt clean and fresh rather than being overly fragranced. The staff on the desk were very helpful as well and I was impressed that they switched easily from Dutch to English (I am fluent in both) and nothing was too much hassle. The hotel is on the No 48 bus route making it a very easy commute to town (7 minutes to Centraal Station) and the recommendation to try Pikoteo for my evening meal (practically across the road) as I arrived quite late on my first evening was really welcomed.
I love Amsterdam
Love it here. Would definitely come back!
Feel the only down side was room was small and No hanging space. For or clothes considering we were staying 3 days even with more Than the 4 hangers that were there was no were else to hang them and small mirror for both people to get ready In room as there was none in toilet. Was shame as didn’t mind the 30 min walk to centre and was a bus if I had needed it. Staff were very friendly as was a plus and did enjoy Amsterdam even with the terrible weather didn’t put us off .
The property itself was fine, besides the huge pillar in the middle of the room making it hard to walk around the bed. The room was clean and warm and the bed was very comfy. The staff members that checked us in were quite rude and abrupt with us. We weren’t told the hotel doesn’t accept cash and the staff didn’t seem to be willing to help us when we had no debit/credit card to pay for the city tax.
Staff amazing very friendly and so helpful . Rooms lovely and beds really comfy , I had room 16 and loved it my sons were in rooms 14 and 15 and there rooms a little smaller but still very nice and comfortable . So easy to get to and from city centre , just a bus 3 stops away or a free boat that u can get right outside hotel . Entrance easy to find just look for sign's of a restaurant . Staff decorated my son's room with balloons and banners for 21st birthday and gave him and he's girlfriend a free drink . Would most defiantly stay there again .
A beautiful building with a view and very accommodating staff
Very nice hotel, the lake view was nice too. Staff was very polite, they explained everything about the city and suggested what bus/train routes we can use. Would definitely go back.
It was amazing, really enjoyed and loved this hotel . Only downfall is no fridges in rooms and not enough space to put your clothes and stuff . But was a great hotel !!!
Beautiful facility with a view
Hotel Ponsteiger is a top notch facility located in a beautiful building with great architecture located within a 30 minute walking distance of Amsterdam Centraal. It's got all amenities you will need for a good night stay and waking up to the Bayview and the morning sunrise is truly a remarkable experience.
The room that we was given had massive windows that look out on the hallway, so anyone walking passed could just look into our room. so it was like there wasn’t any privacy. We had to have the curtains closed all the time.
Close to the city with a nice walk (ca.30 minutes) along the water to the Central Station. Really friendly staff who looked after us for the stay. Views from the hotel are stunning looking out over the harbour.
My parents had stayed there and they loved it, everything was amazing. and the staff were very friendly. They asked me to give suggestion to the hotel management to give breakfast with the booking prices
Clean and friendly service - however no windows in our room which was very claustrophobic!
Lovely staff, easy bus ride to central station. Breakfast very nice.
Wouldn’t stay anywhere else!!!
What an amazing time we had at the Hotel Pontsteiger. From the minute we arrive the staff were friendly and helpful. The room and location were perfect. With a bus stop 1 minute walk and a tram stop 3 minutes you never have to worry about getting around. We walked the along the waterfront many times to get to the Central city, 30 minutes roughly. I absolutely will be staying here again! Special commendation to our regular receptionist Camille. Lovely to see her every morning and she was able to answer all our questions about the city, the hotel, public transport and things to see. She really made our stay 10/10!
Perfect
Location is 15mins walking distance from the train station in a quiet place. Walk to city center is not too long too. Hotel is very clean an stylish, also personel was very accomodating and polite. One of the most relaxing stays in Amsterdam
This hotel was amazing, upgraded our room on arrival as it was my boyfriends birthday. There is a bus outside that mat literally takes less than 5 mins to get to the centre and is 8 euros for a 24 hour pass. Honestly the hotel was lovely.
Quite a new hotel. We had a room overlooking canal which was nice. For Amsterdam standards we had plenty of space and location was good.
Firstly i would like to say the staff were so helpfull and nice. 1- location wonderful. 2-hotel spotless 3-kitchen closed too early, flight late, Not possible to get food, or drink. 4-no place to hang clothes. No wardrobe? Had to change room's the next day. Again staff were excellent. 5-new room no sink in bathroom, sink in bedroom? LOVED AMSTERDAM. NOT to sure about Pontsteiger, Needs some thought given to Guest's comfort. Hope this is helpfull. Many thanks, Dereckclarke@gmail.com.
Definitely recommend
Great Location, close to city centre but away from noise. Comfy bed and clean room with the best view. Amazing.
Lovely hotel with very helpfull and friendly staff
The view was breathtaking; right on the water. The shower was huge, marvelously hot water and great water pressure.
The staff was amazing!! They were courteous, helpful and a joy to work with. This hotel was very clean. It had close proximity to all transpirtations and easy access to musuems, restuarants and more.
Wonderful
Absolutely beautiful rooms central location. The staff are more than happy to help will be staying again 10/10
We really liked staying here, its a very modern hotel and wasn't too far away from the centre, Ubers were cheap to get there and a bus came every 15 min until midnight so we had no issues getting around. The hotel went the extra mile and we got a welcome drink and some balloons on the bed to celebrate our special occasion. Highly recommend. The only negative was the rooms are on the ground floor with big floor to ceiling windows that wrap around the entire room, you have to keep the blinds closed while you're in there and the lighting is very dark.
But be aware that this is a residential building with a few hotel suites. Reception is in the coffee shop and the rooms are on ground level . I was right on a roundabout . Great rooms and amenities and I would recommend the hotel . Its just nice to know what you are getting into.
room is a converted small office with no window. Important as were not in line with impression upon purchase Quality of food good but very limited choice
We loved the spacious room, and lovely view over the river, as well as the really big bed! Breakfast was excellent, and very good value, while all the staff were exceptionally friendly. The location beside the queside for the free ferry was also a big plus.
Rather poor.
I felt rather let down as the money I paid for the room . I booked for a balcony with a sea view. What I got was a small room looking onto a court yard, had to keep the curtains closed all the time as it was on the ground floor. Bed was ok, but the heat kept us awake with sweat all night as the air condition was poor and there was no window to open.paid good money for poor quality. Staff were friendly.
Very expensive, small, cute boutique room. Barely enough room to do my yoga. No microwave, no refrigerator, no ice available. I did ask for ice and get 5 cubes from the cafe on site. Enough coffee for two cups, that's all. They want you to come to the cafe, I suppose. Americans are used to the above amenities.
Clean modern hotel
We stayed for two nights in the hotel. The hotel itself was clean and modern and all of the hotel staff were very friendly. They gave us a map of the local area and showed us areas of interest. As the hotel is outside the city centre, we were told to get the 48 bus to central station which was very useful. Overall our stay was very pleasant.
We were surprised by how nice this hotel was. We only stayed one night but were very pleased by our stay. We ate at the hotel restaurant and enjoyed that as well.
Great!!
This hotel is amazing!! And the view is excellent~
Architecturally unique building on the water
This a new property in an architecturally unique building just outside of the main tourist area. It is part of a large residential complex and is right on the water near a couple of free ferries. The first floor room with large windows gave me a wonderful view of the boats, ferries, and barges. Cafe and bar were on the opposite side of the building which provided different water views and had good food and drinks. There is nearby frequent bus service to the center of town. I loved it!
People walking past looking into room & NO Air Con
Room on ground floor was situated in such as a way that there is no way you could leave curtains open as anyone walking by could see EVERYTHING in the room. Modern room but a lack of space, shower not strong, no fridge, toilet light reflecting on mirror through night as unable to switch of was a huge annoyance but the room was baking hot - their air conditioning wasn't working and the fan on 2nd night was not effective. Modern room should have wooden floors - not carpets. Staff were efficient but a really bad stay due to location of room, lack of air conditioning & no fridge. Daniel on night due at least gave us a round of drinks but did not get sleep for 2 nights.
weekend stay
The hotel was very nice with only a limited number of rooms on the first floor. The remainder of the building is upscale apartments as it is on the water. The staff was AMAZING. the room was small but perfect for a short weekend stay. The location is within a 10 min walk to City Center along the water. Great option if you want to stay a bit off the beaten path to avoid the noise, hustle and bustle but enjoy the water views.
Brand new/unfinished?
It was new hotel in a new area. Seemed almost unfinished. Cafe was small and views were of construction zones. Our room on the first floor was directly beside main walkway in at the same level. If you opened your drapes everyone could see straight in.
There were no windows in the room. It was horrible experience to wake up without sun. No fridge in the room. However, Staff members were very friendly, good customer servicce, room tidy and clean.
Brand new hotel in spectacular harbour side development. Nearby bus and tram links to Central Station and Museum District. Best value Breakfast in Amsterdam overlooking harbour and, temporarily, a major building site. Ground floor nature of bedrooms particularly those facing into courtyard means they could benefit from "one way" glass as otherwise they are rather "public"
Lovely place.. Rooms small but compact .. No view unless you upgrade .. But weather wasn’t great so not really necessary.. Good for a few days .. Bathroom enormous .. But no wardrobe just small hanging space. We were there for 3 days. If longer you would find the lack of wardrobes a bit of a problem .. Maybe some useable bed side cabinets for more storage .. But hotel staff lovely .. Food is excellent.. Ate there a couple of times .. Great !
No windows in our room!
We read the reviews and this seemed like a solid choice. Upon arrival we realized our room had NO WINDOWS. This seemed so very odd to us, and I felt disappointed for the last stop of our European trip. The hotel is practically in the water, but no windows? Check-in is in a different building than our room was. The room felt a little like you were in converted conference room in an office building. The room itself was comfortable and very new and clean. Our daughter's room had the toilet out in the open, but she was the only one in there. She found the layout very odd. Ours wasn't like that. The door side has curtains covering the entire wall of windows from the hallway, where the lights are on all night long. We struggled with the edges letting a lot of light in. Beware of the shower, the water is HOT and the knob was unfamiliar to us. The walk to the bus wasn't bad, though our first bus never showed up. If we go to Amsterdam again, I will find another hotel to try. This was our least favorite of the 6 hotels we stayed in during our trip. It is clean and very new, just a bit strange.
A lovely stay here, very stylish & clean. Staff were extremely helpful and polite.
Great place away from centre
The bed was pretty much the most comfortable we've ever slept on, and the peace n quiet of the area enabled a great restorative sleeping experience. Helpful and attentive staff with tasty food from the kitchen made this an easy and restful stay. Will be here again for sure.
Few tweaks would make it perfect.
Great hotel will stay again but couple of things that could make it better.. 3 of the 4 vanity boxes provided were actually empty, like they were really only for decoration. The 'free tea and coffee' was not refilled, one cup per person, we had to request refill at reception each day. No air conditioning, the room was 24 degrees and even after asking reception to help get the temperature down it didn't change and as the front wall is full glass it became quite uncomfortable. Overall these didn't bother us to much we were happy to ask but I know some may like these finer details..
Best staff and hotel ever!!
My stay was amazing....the staff is perfect! especially david and the girls.. they deserve a bonus! the best hotel i have ever stayed in. the night staff where really nice and helpful... the chef was amazing too... they served breakfast before the kitchrn was open because it was my birthday party weekend... they had my interest at heart... love this place and will be going back for my anniversary. The maid was ever so lovely i cant forget her.. loved everyone
Me and my girlfriend stayed at this hotel from the 20th-24th Feb and had a wonderful time, I highly recommend this hotel! The hotel is situated in a brand-new, massive riverfront building consisting of both the Hotel Pontsteiger and residential apartments. The architecture and overall design of the building is very striking and the rooms are incredible (credit to the interior designers, very tasteful and somewhat minimalistic) with nice high ceilings and a phenomenal view of the river if you get a river facing room (I’d recommend it). The hotel can be seen from some distance especially if you’re taking a trip to the other side of the river via one of the free ferries! The hotel is about a 20-25 minute walk from Centraal station, or you can get the 48 bus to and from the centre. Personally during our trip we walked everywhere! Amsterdam is a wonderful city to explore on foot; to take in the sights, sounds and smells that it has to offer. Saying that, we may hire bicycles next time we visit (I think it’s possible to hire them at the hotel, but please confirm that with the hotel directly as I didn’t enquire about this myself). The staff are friendly, polite and professional, from check-in to check-out. The cafe (also the reception for when you arrive, it’s on the left, down a couple of steps as you approach the hotel) was very clean and modern but it’s cashless as much of Holland is moving over to now, so if you fancy breakfast at the hotel you should keep that in mind!
Great location but not very conveniently set up
This is not really a hotel. The location is nice but there are plenty of things to improve on to deserve its star rating: 1. Parking signage is not clear. You park in a public/gated paid underground parking but there is no signage that you can do so. I ended parking in an open paid parking to get the parking card so i c. drive to the garage. Quite inconvenient and not first-time guest friendly. 2. No signage to direct hotel guests to the reception inside a cafe. I had to ask someone who was coming out of the apartment. Not very convenient and welcoming. 3. Not accessible friendly - cobblestones and no ramps for people on wheelchairs or with suitcases. You can to carry them through stairs. 4. Picture creates impression that you have an open view of the water but its all ground floor internal rooms. probably will not come back if i can help it. The only upside is the location. Staff needs some training.
Rooms could have been cleaned a little bit better. Our only bin in the bathroom wasn't emptied during our stay and the shower screen was dirty when we arrived. Other than that it was perfect
It was a very unusual hotel loved every minute staying there.
I have never been to Amsterdam before but this hotel was absolutely lovely! the staff were so nice and I cannot wait to go back!
Lovely building, luxury feel, needs fine tuning
Great stylish rooms with some tweaks needed as brand new. Lovely decor but some small additions would make this a premium stay
To use the words of the guest: really basic room, really uncomfortable, there isn't even a window in the room, it's really a nightmare.
Great location, nice hotel and staff
Really nice place, great location - 4 stops on the bus to the central which takes 5mins. Hotel staff are lovely. Place is really modern and the river view is great.
The hotel was still under construction which wasnt stated when we booked, it was also very hard to find the entrance when we arrived. Overall the experience in the hotel was good and we enjoyed the stay, the food in the restaurant is tasty but it can be updated with more food. I would like to give big thanks to Delroy from Reception and Guian from kitchen they went the extra mile and provided extra customer service in order to satisfy us.
Great room and staff
Had an amazing 2-night stay at Pontsteiger! Staff were very friendly and helpful. It was our first visit to Amsterdam and they were great at recommending the best places to visit. The room was clean and modern, the bathroom isn’t completely private (the shower has no separate door) but we didn’t mind the more open plan room. Only slight downside was the amazing floor to ceiling windows faced a footpath (Not too busy) so it felt a bit exposed. Would definitely visit again though!
Nice place, the only point thing I have to criticize is that the rooms are very small/tight. A few square meters more would make the stay much more comfortable
Travelling on business, very friendly staff, everything handled quickly with a smile. Gladly again 👍
I stayed in a deluxe room which was in a different part of the building (accross the square) than the reception. Room was nice, decent bed, very large shower and exceptional views. Bit sad that the windows on the outside were very dirty but I suppose that comes with staying on the waterside. Bottles of water were a nice touch. Very easy to reach by public transport, bus 48 stops only a few minutes away and runs every 10 mins.
Air conditioning quite noisy. Otherwise, everything were good.
Extra kussens of dekens. Was erg beperkt allemaal. Ik zou dit hotel zeker niet aanraden.
Quiet poor stay - no recommendations to book
I was very disappointed. I had a sea view room, which was quite cheap due to the pandemic. The value is about 100-120€ / night with sea view. More it is not worth the price. The hotel is new. The rooms have an industrial chic. There is no door towards shower. The washing bassinet is directly in the sleeping place which is quiet uncomfortable. The worst at this stay is the parking and the female receptionist. The parking is directly situated under the hotel, but it was never working. The hotel is not able to open the gate, once registered for parking it should open by card or license plate. Both wasn’t working. That means you need to try if not get back, which is hard because always behind some cars waiting, find a parking space, get to the hotel and try everything again. Same issue is when you going out. Therefore you need to pay 20€ which is not ok. The female receptionist was topping all. First of all she was demanding several times to do something pay for every item directly, telling me that’s my fault with parking. Even when asking if possible to pay all on the check out, she refused. I had to approach to a colleague of her during the upcoming days asking if it’s possible to have an open credit line. It was jo problem at all for him to do. Even she called several times and demanded in an almost empty hotel how to behalf in the room. All in all and can’t recommend to stay there, even the view is nice.
Mkt komfort, underbar skön säng!
Net voldoende
Personal spricht kein Deutsch.
Tolles Hotel in Amsterdam
Gerne wieder!
Modern suite with bath
Comfortable and very quiet room with all the usual amenities. I had the heating in but the room was still a bit cold (December). I couldn’t find reception when I arrived as the taxi dropped me in the right hand side and the signage on the door stickers directs you to the end of the right building. There are rooms there but that isn’t where reception is. After walking around in the dark and rain for a few minutes I rang and someone from reception kindly came out from the left side of the left building. Overall I would stay again as it was a nice experience otherwise!
