Great location to Vatican & public transportation.
The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly. The only thing I would change would be a better sign outside the large doors. It would as difficult finding the hotel when the doors were closed.
Staff were fantastic.
Great location, beautiful atmosphere, and a friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were comfortable and well equipped, exceptional service, clean rooms, and great breakfast and good value.
The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was clean, but with it being the peak of the hot season, there were some ants wandering around the bedroom and bathroom throughout our 3 day stay…not enough to be a total deterrent for us but enough to be an inconvenience as I had to apply strategies of how and where to place my luggage and toiletries to keep the ants out. Again, no biggie, just an inconvenience I had not expected to encounter for the price paid. I did not bring the ants to the attention of the staff as I had noticed that ant powder had been placed in some corners and areas between the floor and baseboard already, so I knew they were already doing all they could to control the issue. The bathroom was clean but is getting pretty tired and should be updated to fit the asking price of the room. The mattress had divots which is problematic for stomach sleepers. Overall, the room was okay, but the price is too high for the standard of accommodations offered in my opinion. The staff is doing there job, and doing it well. The owner of their hotel should adjust the pricing to match the accommodations, or if not, then the accommodations should be upgraded.
Excellent Service
The service was wonderful! The room has everything we needed, and the air conditioning was great. Nice complimentary breakfast in the morning. Very friendly staff. I would come back again if I ever return to Rome.
Staff was super friendly and accommodating
This hotel is perfect for those who want a place close to St. Peter’s Basilica. The room was clean & spacious & had very good AC which was a game changer in this August heat. The staff are super friendly as well. Would recommend!
Staff was amazingly helpful and kind! Room was nice, AC worked great. Also appreciated how close it was the Vatican. Now it’s in a neighborhood type area but you’re only about 2 blocks from restaurants and shops.
Very friendly staff
It’s a 10/10. Great location, amazing customer service, very clean and modern. Highly recommended.
Nothing
Wonderful location and excellent hotel. Air conditioned and optional breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful with excellent English.
We enjoyed our short stay of the night - the cappuccinos were delicious and we enjoyed being a short walk from the Vatican. Front desk was very helpful and kind!
Clean and comfortable - updating needed in parts
SERVICE: Very good. Couldn’t fault the staff at all. LOCATION: 15 minute walk to St Peter’s Square. Shops and cafes within five minutes. Not suitable for anyone in a wheelchair as there are steps into the hotel. FOOD: Only had breakfast (€5 each) which for the price was amazing! ROOM: Clean but needed some work/ updating. The shower head looked rusty, and some of the doorframe in the bathroom was badly water damaged. The bedroom door didn’t close properly, which left us a bit uneasy. PRICE: For the money, I would stay again as it’s easy to access Rome, comfy, and good service.
The staff were so lovely! Incredibly friendly and the location is safe and quiet. Also walkable to Vatican. Grocery store 3 min walk away
The staff was cordial and amicable
You said in discribsion near St. Peter’s Property fresh and new. But about 1 mile to St. Peter’s Would not recommend as desk recommend walking
The people were very friendly and helpful. Location was convenient. Room was clean. Nice to have breakfast option. My only issue was that it felt a little “damp” in room. Fan in bathroom turn off when you leave. Towels never dry.
I truly enjoyed my stay at this hotel, very clean and quiet. Now I did not like I had to wake up with the plants. In our room, there were plants in the room and they were on a timer. I was not a happy camper, to say the least. On a positive note the hotel is within walking distance of the Vatican, many shops, and transportation.
We booked this to stay in just one night and do not recommend staying. It is not a real hotel, it resembles more of a hostile/motel. The “hotel” is located inside a sketchy dirty apartment building with people’s clothes hanging everywhere. There is a strange smell when you walk in. The hotel is only one floor, and there are bars on your windows. The walls are paper thin. They even provide earplugs on your nightstand for you because it’s so noisy. The reviews are very deceiving. We did not feel safe here and left after seeing our room to stay at an actual hotel. We only stayed 15 minutes but had to pay for the full price. Beware of you are females staying at this makeshift motel. It tells you how bad it is that we would rather lose $180 than stay for the night. We found a beautiful hotel around the corner for $230 Starwood Michael Angelo.
Loved the location and feeling of security.
staff were very accommodating, hotel was really nice, the AC unit was very noisy so it was either noise and cool or hot and quiet for sleep.
We loved our stay, the staff were friendly and helpful. Location was perfect and we got to see the Vatican City at night as the area was so safe.
The hotel was close to the train depot. The owner was so kind and very helpful. The room was comfy and available even when we arrived early for our check in.
Not your typical hotel, but don’t let that fool you. The location is excellent and the staff were very accommodating and responsive. If you want a clean, convenient place to rest your head, this is an excellent option at a very good rate.
The property is next door to a Hostel. The hotel is located in the courtyard of an apartment complex. The hotel was hard to locate. Upon entering the courtyard, there were multiple apartments with clothes hanging out to dry from many windows. The pictures online are accurate, but the surroundings are very different. There was a tiny reception/lobby area. The clerk had to go outside with the credit card machine to get reception. There was a small dining area right off the check in counter which was the restaurant. When we asked for ice, the front desk clerk went behind the bar in the restaurant area and got an ice tray from the freezer and emptied it into a bowl that he gave to us with a spoon. The price was very expensive for what was provided. One wall of the room (under the window) was a live plant wall. When closely inspected, the wall appeared to be covered in moss and mold. This is not your traditional hotel. It is a single story building with a long hallway of rooms. When we were given our room key, it was a generic card with a hand written room number. The floor was all tile. When in the room, my shoes stuck to the tile with each step. The shower did not drain. We left early in the morning (a little before 6 a.m.). Upon entering the lobby, we found the night desk clerk asleep on the couch with a pillow and blanket. He had to unlock the door so we could exit the hotel. I would definitely not recommend staying here.
The staff was extremely helpful in providing walking directions as well as arranging transportation to our cruise ship. The breakfast was outstanding in the morning. Unfortunately, our trip was delayed by the airline due to a mechanical issue, so we didn't use the room the first night. Even though we let travelocity know, a refund could not be arranged.
Lovely and clean room.
Excellent
Where can I even start. The property super clean and neat. The staff, oh the staff, super professional and sweet, I appreciate each and every one of them including the room service gentleman. I wish I can give them 11/10 Thank you so much for everything ,really thanks.
Walking distance to the Vatican
Hotel has a very good location for tourist. The restaurants around the area were really good. The staffs were all so nice and the breakfast was really good. The hotel it is inside an apartment building.
Great hotel, staff was excellent, room clean. Great location.
The staff was so nice! I arrive super early they offered to have my room ready early but I told them to not be in a hurry I had an early tour so I just wanted to see if they can take care of my luggage and they said yes. Once I came back all of my stuff were inside the room. They were nice they rearranged for me transfer to the airport. It was a small hotel but it was a nice experience I wanted something close to the Basilica of St Peter and it was just a 10 min walk.
Cozy!! Nice staff, felt safe because it’s within an apartment complex, staff was always super helpful and kind
A lovely quiet place near train station and Vatican
Very nice
Gloria and staff were amazing ! They were the best !!
First of all, GLORIA & VALENTINO & the rest of the of the staff were very pleasant & helpful. I would recommend this HOTEL to stay.
Our stay was excellent. Our room had two living walls, was modern, clean and comfortable.
Great service!
Muy buen servicio! Pero las habitaciones son extremadamente pequeñas e incómodas. Los baños son muy viejos. El desayuno o es rico y económico, y el staff te atiende muy bien
Place was nice, staff were lovely and very helpful i would recommend.
Stayed here for a 3 night stay for my husbands birthday with our daughter. The location was excellent just 10 mins walk from St Peter’s Basilica. All other tourist attractions were within a 30-45 min walk. Brilliant hosts and a lovely continental breakfast each morning. The rooms were big and spacious and very clean. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again. Michelle
It was close to San Pietro train station and lots of restaurants… just a few minutes walk to Vatican City, and lots of other attractions. Overall this was a nice little hotel tucked away in the Courtyard of a building away from the street and any noise or other normal hotel issues
THE STAFFS ARE PASSIONATE, FRIENDLY AND VERY CLEAN ROOM.
Great hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean. Rooms are just right size with everything you need. Greenery in rooms and dining room very unique. Nestled in a beautiful and quiet courtyard.
Very near train station and St. Peter's.
Very convenient to Vatican City and the Roma St Pietro train station. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Our room was an interior room with high basement windows, but it was comfortable. Good value compared with other options in the neighborhood.
Marco was exceptionally helpful! We would stay there again but probably update to a larger room!
Marco was fantastic, excellent service and very clean. I would come back.
Staff is incredibly friendly and always attentive. The location is a short walk to the Vatican, and very close to a train station - so it’s not difficult to get around the city (once you learn to navigate public transportation). Areas that could improve: showers (clean, but door leaked and water covered the floor every time, plus the shower head was malfunctioning), there is a lot of ambient light from the surrounding apartments (blinds don’t block out the windows), and the door to the room let a lot of light in from the hall - so if you need a very dark room, you may need to bring a sleep mask. Finally, the plants in the room were very interesting, but we noticed very high humidity as a result, so all our papers (and passports) curled up by the time we left. Despite those (relatively minor) areas for improvement, we would stay here again. The neighborhood felt safe, even after dark. And as I said above, it’s very convenient to get all around the city. Just bring good walking shoes!
Valentino, I think one of the owner, he is super nice & friendly, We will go back if we visit Rome again
We loved this hotel. Quiet, clean, hot showers. Breakfast buffet was perfect in our opinion. The attendant was brewing coffee by the cup. Our concierge were quick to help us in any way. It’s in a quiet little side street hidden from view. We loved it.
Unbeatable! Everything was PERFECT!
Far exceeded all of our expectations! I do not write reviews, but I had to for this hotel experience. This was a last-minute, quick decision. It couldn’t have been better. From every single staff member, to the cleanliness and location, it was all absolutely perfect for us. Walking distance to all of the sights (we love to walk ) as well as the train station use a two minute walk for a quick ride when you get tired or transportation to and from the airport. It was so great and the price couldn’t be beat so we booked another night during our first day. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Rome!
Great place to stay in Rome
We loved our stay at this hotel. It was located a couple of minutes from the Vatican. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had anything we needed to make our stay smooth.
The hotel is very convenient especially if you wanted to explore Vatican. The staff are attentive, their breakfast was ok, the room is clean but a little muggy maybe because of the plants and the location is further from metro station. All in all, this is a good hotel.
Minutes from St Peter's square and within 30 min walk to the old town. Comfortable bed, living wall with plants, nice breakfast. Pleasant staff. Air-conditioning needed otherwise it's too cold. Air con is noisy but hotel provides earplugs.
Friendly and helpful staff. Answered all our questions as it was our first visit to Rome Enjoyed so much planning our next trip as a family
Very convenient location. Close to the basilica, other attractions and restaurants.
Very nice friendly staff. Hotel very noisy difficult to sleep
The inside of the hotel is small but good. The hotel catches you off guard at first because you buzz into a building like an apartment building and everywhere you look around the hotel you see people's balconies and the hotel is in the middle of the courtyard
Staff Friendly, clean rooms, Could have the floors hoovered more often however besides that everything was good.
If your intentions are to stay near Vatican City this is the place to stay.
Nice hotel
Very nice, although small hotel. Good location near the Vatican. Only downside is the breakfast was somewhat limited.
Great stay
Great service both before and during stay! Room was clean and location was convenient to St Peter’s.
Close to the Vatican and restaurants. Staff was amazing! Would definitely stay here again!
Very clean and safe place with a helpful staff
The hotel was very close to St. Peter train station and bus terminal. Easy to get in and out of the Airport. Also easy way to take Bus 64. It was also very close to St. Peter Square. great location and good value. There is a nice store just a few minute walk from the hotel. Loved the interior plants in the room!
It is almost hard to find. It is behind a locked door in the middle of a residential court yard. There are no windows in the hotel. When you enter the court yard there is this peacefulness away from the city noise that was pleasing. It was quirky but felt safe and small and not over crowded.
We saw bugs during our stay. 3 times actually.. it was something looked like centipede… the room was hard to adjust the temperature of the room. It was VERY cold. The location is not too convenient if you are a traveller. Most of sight attractions ate far from the hotel.
This great small hotel has a great location to go to the Vatican and other areas around Rome. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast was good and plenty. They held our bags there after checkout for a few our while we went to walk around Rome, this was super convenient
Great location. Parking was a challenge
Watch for mosquitos but great location and service
We love the hotel located on the center of a group of Apts. The rooms were spacious and clean. My issue were the mosquitoes! Must have killed move than 30 in the 2 nights we stayed there. They just love me because I got over 20 bites (my hubby got none...no bites), also my inlaws' room had none that they knew, never saw one.....very strange! Also i slipped in the shower because the bottom was very very slippery! They got soft water, which we love!, but that and soap makes for a slippery shower floor! Got a big bruise on the "right sife of my bum" but not seriously hurt thanks goodness🙏! Other than that, great location near the Vatican and restaurants. Would stay there again but bring a bug zapper😂!
Clean. Good service. Good location.
Quiet lovely location. The staff were friendly and helpful. Loved our stay there.
The staff were very kind and responsive, and the walk to Vatican City was only about 10 min. We also appreciated the toiletries. However, overall we were disappointed with this property and were VERY glad we were only there 1 night. The room was SO loud - we could hear every sound in the hallway and in the room next to us - talking, sneezing, moving around, snoring. The beds were not comfortable. The breakfast was not worth it - you could spend less right down the road and get something much better. They were able to store our luggage, but it was just out in the open in the main lobby and not secure. Would not recommend.
Great! Not very big but very clean. Marco was a good host.
Not what it looks like in the pictures…
The hotel is inside a not so nice closed residential complex, surrounded and encapsulated by brick buildings with under-ware and clothes hanging from the balconies. Ugly. We did not like the atmosphere at all, it was not very nice for a hotel. Im attaching a photo to this review. The service was good, rooms clean, breakfast ok- if you are looking for a clean room and don’t mind the appearance of the hotel then its ok. but we would not stay there again
Quaint hotel in Rome
Man this place was great, especially for the price! It’s nestled in the courtyard of an apartment complex, didn’t understand that at first but neat idea. Rooms are great, especially if you get a wall plant room. They front desk guy there in the middle of the day is very friendly and the housekeeper must have OCD because his attention to detail is crazy, he deserves a raise! All in all, great stay while in rome!
Nice location in a quirky hotel
Very quaint hotel and much better condition than many of its 5 start rivals in Rome. Excellent location, 7 minutes from Vatican and taxis aplenty to go further afield. First time I have seen plants in a bedroom but added to the experience Only issue I had was check out/ 10.30? sorry far too early. They did though keep my bags for the day.
The entire staff were all great, friendly and helpful. It’s true, Marco is one great guy! The room is clean and comfy. The hotel is close to everything like restaurant, shops and bus stops & to the basilica.
Staff are attentive and amazing. Ms. Quick check in.Ms. Gloria is courteous, friendly and accommodating, polite. Carlo, manager is friendly and accommodating. Hotel is very convenient. Room is clean and updated. I will stay again. It is highly recommended.
Hotel Paolo II was a pleasant surprise! I didn’t expect to find such a wonderful place in the Vatican City area so easily. I was there for a few days with my wife, and right from the checking in everything went smoothly. The hotel is located within an old existing housing apartment building and it is easily accessible by bus and taxis. Most importantly for visits to the Vatican it was walkable. We bought a three days ticket which we used to move around by bus, train or tram car, and to the city centre for other landmark locations such as the Colosseum, Spanish Steps, Piazza de la Republica, etc. breakfast wasn’t so great, but it was okay and the staff made it worth the expense. And then when we met Marcko, the manager, he elevated our experience to the next level! Among the recommended restaurants was the Ristorante Rex, which we tried out and we really enjoyed. Unfortunately, we also made use of the so-called self service laundry, and we did not quite like the service at all. In fact our clothes came back looking dirtier than when we handed them in. In any case, we found other places nearby and would definitely recommend this hotel for short stays.
Different
The staff was wonderful. This hotel is on a very small and quiet street. Walking distance to the Vatican and bus stops. It is unusual because it is located inside the courtyard of a multi family building. Hence, the rooms have garden walls instead of windows. It is a small hotel but the beds were king size in both rooms with plenty of room.
Friendly stuff, very convenient location and clean hotel Yes, I recommend it
The room has everything we needed and was very clean. The receptionist was super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was much more than we expected.
Perfect experience right next to the Vatican!
Paolo II was great! It is a smallish standalone building in the courtyard of a private , secure apartment building. The location was 2-3 blocks from Vatican City and 2 blocks from the St Peter train stop (connections to the airport and cruise port in Citavecchia). Shops (pharmacy, grocery, tobacco/liquor) and restaurants all within a few blocks. The staff was excellent and very helpful/friendly. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived at 10:00 so they securely stored our luggage while we explored the Vatican and had lunch. We returned to find we had been upgraded and our bags moved to the room. The room was completely remodeled and modern. Full and spacious bathroom, very comfortable mattress, powered windows, COLD AC, tv, free Wi-Fi, hairdryer, bidet, valuables safe, mini-fridge (w/ 2 free bottles of water), and in our suite, a live garden. Very secure and safe neighborhood. I’d be comfortable having my female friends or family stay there without question. €5 breakfast (hard boil eggs, croissants, pastries, yogurt, juices, spreads, cheeses, salamis, and espresso. This place was an amazing stay and I’ll definitely return the next time I’m in Rome.
location and amenities were PERFECT!
Very friendly staff Clean room and toilet Private Heater worked Futon as comfortable as the bed.
The location to the local is amazing. Just a short walk to/from the local train station and Vatican . The staff are friendly and ready to help in any way. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. Not too many tv channel selections but wifi signal was strong.
Loved the staff.. loved the local.. the room was very clean and looked as close to.its pictures as possible
Enjoyable and clean hotel with great rooms. Little noisy, but the location is fun and accessible
Stayed at Hotel Paolo II in rome for a valentines break. Were greeted with petals on the bed and chocolates on the pillow more importantly a warm welcome from the staff. Very clean hotel way above expectations. All modern facilities and Staff amazing, 24 hour reception, mini bar, safe , toiletries, fresh towels and linen daily more than what most 5 star hotels offer. Extremly helpfull and attentive staff. Cannot fault this hotel in any way 10/10. Stones throw from all Rome attractions and amenities perfect location. Would highly recommend this hotel. Should i visit Rome again this is the only hotel i would want to stay at. Would especially like to thank the staff on duty at the time of our stay, Paolo,Antonia and Carlotta who are an credit to this hotel. Thank you guys. If you ever want a hotel which will make your visit to Rome perfect then this is the one to choose.
Hotel has problems with their showers; pressure fluctuates, and hot water drops out from time to time.
I had a very memorable moment there because of comfort . It s value for money
The best..
I can't say enough good things about this hotel...we loved it
For us the hotel was in the prefect location. Close to the Vatican and easy walking distance of all the other places of historic interest

Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly from the minute we arrived till we left. Hotel was easily accessible from the train station, and walking to the Vatican took a few minutes. Hotel facilities were well maintained, and we appreciated having the air conditioner for warmer spring days. Beds were comfortable and housekeeping made sure that everything was clean and tidy each of the days we were there. Absolutely recommend if you're doing a religious visit to the Vatican, or just to Rome in general.
