Excellent location to St Marks Square (only one minute walk away). Rooms were good, spotless bathroom and cleaned every day. Excellent continental breakfast. Very helpful staff. Near shops and restaurants. Could not fault it. Excellent value. Keep up the good work.
The hotel was very good! The staff is super kind and helpful (I don’t remember the name of the tall guy with glasses but he is the best!). The room is very comfortable and the location is perfect! Only thing I would recommend to change is the shower cabin seal, because some water leaks out to the rest of the bathroom.
Loved that it was central to everything Venice had to offer. Very spacious room.
They couldn’t help us with luggage in the morning at all.
Clean with good location
Bed comfort could be better. A larger waste basket helpful. Hot water was out, but quickly fixed in the morning when technician arrived. Very clean room. Great location. We would stay here again. Note lots of stairs in this facility.
I had a great stay at Hotel Orion. The staff were amazing and so helpful (and available 24/7!). The location is perfect and my room was clean (aircon was great!). The breakfast was so delicious and had so many options. Loved my stay.
Very steep steps up to our room. The shower was awful. But the staff was awesome and location very convenient.
The triple room that we stayed was spacious, clean, very friendly and helpful staff. A very good spot to stay as everything is walkable.
we love it..
this was our second stay having visited exactly a year ago. such a lovely little hotel ideally situated with the most delightfully friendly and helpful staff you could ever hope to meet. I can’t recommend this hotel enough and look forward to booking again next year. much love to you all at the Orion..
The guy at the front desk was very very rude and no elevator. I do not recommend this hotel at all.
Recommend 100%
I really recommend this place, perfect location, amazing staff, and nice room.
We loved it here! Great location, friendly people at the desk and great breakfast.
16th year old birthday celebration in Venice
We really enjoyed the stay in the hotel. There were 3 of us, me, my husband and our 16 years old daughter. The staff was amazing, friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was basic but was clean. One thing I would have liked is a proper safe deposit box to fit for example the iPad, it only could fit passports and not much else. Overall very happy with our stay and I would recommend it.
ORION HOTEL
The staff and location were all very good and friendly and helpful. There was a problem with the t.v. reception but I wasn't in the room that much.
Great location, friendly and kind staff, very clean and felt safe! Thank you!
Great location, walkable with luggage from Rialto stop. Very close to St Mark's Basilica. Lots of shopping & dining options close by. Outside table & chairs for guests which was good for an evening drink. Room a good size & comfortable bed. Breakfast fairly basic but tasty, would have loved some bacon & hot food. Staff at reception always friendly & helpful.
Good location
An Oasis by St Mark's square
The location is great. Right in the middle of the action just off St Marks square. Yet with all the hustle and bustle of the area this was a quiet oasis.
Great hotel in prime location with great staff.
This hotel deserves a better rating than 2 star in my opinion the room was beautifully decorated with ornate furniture. Beds were very comfortable. Our rooms were cleaned everyday with fresh linen and towels. Prime location right next to St marks an 10 min walk from Rialto. Good access to boats with public transport and trips. Continental Breakfast was free so additional thumbs up. Only downside is we were on 3rd floor with no lift and my daughter has leg problems. However the day we arrived the staff carried our luggage up for us. The staff was always present and friendly towards us offering help and guidance whenever possible. Theres also an area at the back to eat snacks as eating in restaurants can be pricey so having this made life more affordable. The mini bar fridge was useful and the prices wernt that different to the shop prices which was underneath thd building should you need it.
It was my second time coming to Venice and first time staying at Orion. It’s good hotel and great location. Good breakfast spacious room and great customer service. I would definitely stay here again
Perfect location, quiet. Nice staff
Quaint little boutique hotel. Great location. Small rooms, but have everything you need. There are some quirky rules like having to leave your key with the front desk when you leave and no eating or drinking in your room.
The personal was excellent.
The manager did a good job sorting out some of the noise that was outside the hotel. There were some construction going on outside on the first night and it was quite loud, but he went over and talk to them and put a stop to it! He did a good job responding to our needs as a customer!
The hotel is situated in the very center at san Mark’s square, very accessible to restaurants and water taxis or public transportation, the room was clean and very helpful staff
Great staff, great location, 5 min walk to san marco square! Room was cute and clean! Washroom could do a renovation (tiles looked a little worn, grout lines a little dirty), but overall great stay!
I had to book this hotel last minute and arrived late at night. The 3 people at reception that I interacted with, were amazing and kind at any given time of day! I had scheduled tours early morning and they were able to provide a to-go lunch for me. There is also no elevator but someone provided assistance with my luggage. I had a pleasant stay.
Nice and convenient
Orion hotel
Right next to St Marks square 👍 Double en-suite room with shuttered windows onto the street👍 Modern bathroom 👍 Air con👍 Had to unplug the fridge and tv to use sockets to charge phones 👎 Noise from street late at night and early hours due to location (expected) Staff very friendly and very helpful
Wonderful Piazza San Marco stay at Hotel Orion
We loved our 15 night stay at Hotel Orion! The location was so convenient! The front desk staff were all very kind, friendly, and extremely helpful! We were so impressed with Elena! Elena was a real blessing giving us so much help with directions, activities, restaurants, tickets, etc on our first trip to Venice! We left our quiet Hotel Orion room and were in St. Mark’s Square in minutes! We loved starting and ending our days at San Marco square listening to the live music being played at the restaurants in the square and admiring the amazing architecture of the buildings in the piazza! The room was pretty and always very clean. We slept well each night due to the shutters on the windows which made the room quiet and dark. The bed was comfortable and we had a private bathroom with a shower. The room was in an annex a few doors down from the hotel and was up a short flight of stairs. We had no problems during our stay. We felt so happy that we had selected Hotel Orion and had met the kind people who work there! They made our trip very special! We recommend this hotel and hope to return there someday.
Good location, clean and kept up well, friendly staff.
PERFECTLY located, just steps away from San Marco square. Near lots of restaurants and shops. Great location. We were only there for one day, so it was important for us to be near the main attractions to save time. The hotel was super cute, marble steps (no elevator) to our room on the first floor. Lovely, venetian style room. Bathroom was small, but totally adequate. It was basic, but perfect for what we needed, and not super expensive.
Very helpful staff !!! Great location, and nice continental breakfast included 👍
Great place to stay! Exceptionally clean! Right on St Marcos square. Would recommend!!!
A great hotel in an excellent location for Venice's main attractions. the bathroom is a little small and there is no lift but this is more than made up for with a lovely breakfast room and really helpful and nice staff. and they have a locked place to keep luggage after check out. really glad we picked here to stay
The bathroom was small and the toilet seat was very loose. The toilet paper roll holder was behind above your right shoulder. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was is about 100 yards off Piazza San Marco — very convenient.
Small hotel with a great location for a reasonable price. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom had large luxurious towels and great water pressure. The air conditioning worked well and the room was very quiet. The only downside is that there is no elevator although our bags were brought to our room for us.
Hotel Orion was VERY conveniently located near Piazza San Marco. Check-in was efficient and the place was clean and safe. The beds were very uncomfortable (flattest pillows ever) and there was zero water pressure (pretty much just what gravity provided). It was noisy in room 25 because we were right above the little gelato shops that stay open fairly late. Not really the hotel's fault, but if you're a light sleeper the rooms in that area might not be the best. Also, the curtains were sheer and we didn't figure out until morning that we could have closed the exterior shutters. Again not the hotel's fault, just advice if you're staying there and you find it too bright & noisy like we did. Close the shutters.
I had one of the larger rooms and baths, tho small by some standards. The staff were all excellent and I'd stay there a third time. The first time was in 1992!
Properties a little hard to find but everything in Venice is hard to find. Desk staff was very friendly spoke English well gave very good suggestions on dinner
The Orion - Loveliest hotel in Venice
Hotel Orion is the loveliest hotel. The staff on reception are so helpful and chatty, we got lots of information about the local area and how to get around Venice. The room was beautifully furnished and it had everything we needed! Great wifi signal and very spacious which we didn't expect. Noisy room upstairs the first few nights but thats to be expected in such close proximity to other guests! The selection at breakfast was always excellent, plenty of choice and nothing was too much for the server each morning. I would highly recommend this hotel! Felt just like home :)
Little Gem
This hotel has the smallest reception we have come across with exceptional receptionists that are most welcoming and attentive. The location provides the perfect spot to explore Venice and the mini bar is a bargain. Breakfast is a perfect continental type to set you up for a day ‘lost’ in the back streets of this enchanting city.
I don't think it is unique but it is certainly very near to St Marks Square and easy to reach other landmarks within Venice.
Great location close to many of the major sights. Good shopping and restaurants at your doorstep. Staff was very helpful. Bathroom shower is very small. Spacious bedroom with small table and desk that make it easy to place your belongings
The rudest staff ever!
We had booked a room through Expedia at this hotel, a double bed room including breakfast. We slept the first night there, woke up in the morning to go have breakfast, the manager told us we can’t have breakfast there. We kept explaining and showing our booking to them which included breakfast but they kept saying no. So we didn’t get what we paid for, they wouldn’t talk to us politely and were so rude. What a shame as the hotel is actually nice. Will never stay here again!!!!
Excellent Central Hotel
The Orion is approximately 5 minutes walk from Saint Marc’s Square. It is surrounded by shops, restaurants etc and an ideal place to stay. The rooms were comfortable and clean. It should be noted that there are no lifts in this hotel and the steps up to your room are steep. The staff were helpful especially Stefano on Reception. The only slight negative is that the breakfast room is small and the continental breakfast is limited. It is also a tight squeeze to get past people to try and get your breakfast. That said I would stay here again because of its location and you eat so much during your stay anyway, a smaller breakfast is fine. Good hotel.
Lovely place to stay in Venice
Very close to st. Mark's square. Breakfast was great. Comfortable for the family.
Minutes from San Marco Square
First off, it’s listed as a 2 star hotel so don’t expect anything fancy. The front desk staff was super friendly, nice, and really helpful. The check-in process was easy. As we had arrived prior to the check-in time, the hotel offered to hold onto our bags and even bring them into our room when the room was ready. There isn’t an elevator, so I was fully expecting to carry the suitcases upstairs, but another gentleman from the hotel took care of the bags for us (and even so when we checked out!). Check out the next morning was also super easy and fast. The room was fairly spacious for two people. The decor isn’t anything glamourous, and definitely outdated, but the bed was comfy. Our window faced onto the street where the front door of the hotel was so you could hear the hustle and bustle of Venice, but it wasn’t an issue at night. The included breakfast runs from 8-10am and includes cereal, fruits, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, coffee of various varieties, a selection of deli meats and cheese, toast, and tasty pastries. This was great and the dining room was cozy and cute. Wifi was included and worked really well. The only downside we experienced was the AC in our room. The temperature in the room read 26 degrees Celsius the whole night and despite putting the AC on max, the temp didn’t budge. Seemed like the AC was just blowing air and not cooling it at all. Overall, a good hotel for a short stay in Venice. Just wished our AC worked better.
A little hard to find, a bit claustrophobic in reception, but rooms are neat and clean, excellent breakfast, a good value
Served the purpise
Nice hotel. Very convenient to St Mark’s Square. Room ok, Bed/pillows not too comfortable, shower very small. Nonetheless would consider another visit for a brief stay bc staff helpful and nice.
Perfect location, great breakfast and friendly staff
Its good for young people not for retired
Its only good for young people not for the retied. Their is no lift for the baggage abs stair are steep.
Perfect little Venice hotel
This a great little hotel. The location was amazing. We were close to all the big sites. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I was pleased with the cleanliness and found the hotel to be quite charming. I would stay here again if I were in Venice.
Great stay in Venice
We had a great stay Max was very helpful with directions and the hitel was only 2 minutes from San Marco
Stayed 2 nights . Room on 4 th floor( really the 5th floor since there are two 2nd floors). No lift, just stairs. Room was big enough for the bed and no extra furniture. Bed was not comfortable and only 2 pillows. The breakfast was real good. No hot dishes, but plenty to choose from. The location is what makes this an excellent place to stay. In between San Marco and Rialto water stops. So walking distance to most all attractions.
nice hotel close to St. Mark's Square
We were completely satisfied with the hotel. The complimentary breakfasts were great - something for everybody, free WiFi - being from Canada it was important to us to be able to stay in contact. It was close to plenty of restaurants, Doges Palace, St. Marks Basilica and St. Marks Square. Coming from the airport, once we were off the water bus , the hotel was very close with no bridges to cross!!
Too tall for the room.
The Hotel was difficult to find, but this appears to be a problem with a lot of hotels in Venice. The bed was hard. The hotel was dated. The bathroom was so small that my wife had to put one foot in the sink in order the shave her legs. In order to dry oneself off you had to step out of the bathroom. The staff was very helpful. Was not happy with their policy of not bringing food or drinks into the room.
Wonderful!!!!
It took us forever to find it but what a great!! surprise when we found it. It was gorgeous and safe and private, with windows with shutters. I rate them highest in all categories.
Fine hotel convenient to San Marco and other sites as well as vaporetto. Considerable street noise but nothing to be done about that.
Value for money
Great tourist hotel, not somewhere you could spend hours in but did just what we needed far cheaper than hotels with bars etc. It's location is great. It was clean and the room was spacious, comfy bed etc. You don,t go to Venice to sit in the room!
Excellent location and very helpful staff,
Like most hotels in Venice, it was a challenge to locate. I would advise the hotel to provide a little more information via land marks etc. This was our first time in Venice.
Great hotel!!
Great location, 2 min to St. Marks square.. very helpful service team.. good breakfast.. rooms are a bit small but that's a given for Venice.. would recommend!
Better places to stay.
Location for hotel was very good just off St Marks square with a 5 minute walk to the Rialto bridge. Problems is no lift and had to carry bags up 4 flights of stairs. Aircon was broken and no fans available. Staff quite rude and had hotel rules where your needed to leave the key with them each time you left. Weren't allowed to eat in the room or use the fridge in the room to store anything that belonged to us. The Bathroom was very small. Breakfast is very limited with no toast only dinner rolls.Overall not an enjoyable stay but the city was wonderful.
Highly recommended hotel in center of Venice
This hotel was in a great location, centrally located, had very friendly staff and a nice, clean, comfortable rooms. I'd highly recommend if you are looking for a hotel that is on the more affordable side (for Venice of course). Perfect for escaping the midday crowds of tourists.
Great location, charming hotel
Hotel Orion was in an incredibly convenient spot with a gorgeous view down a side street with the domes of St Marks in view. The room was charming, the staff was responsive and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was a great way to start the day. Highly recommend the Hotel Orion!
Very considerate staff
We needed to extend our stay one day due to illness. Staff was very kind & considerate in helping us. We really appreciate that. The location was ideal for seeing everything in Venice. So easy to get to everything.
Great Location for a great price
This hotel is nice and close to San Marco Piazza and the Rialto. The area felt safe even at night and never too noisy. The bathroom is quite small but its worth it for a couple nights stay for a good price.
NC travellers
Wonderful location. Max at Reception was absolutely great, so helpful. Actually, all the staff was so very helpful. Even though we were on the fourth floor, it wasn't nearly as bad as some of the reviews had indicated. Breakfast was lovely, overall a great experience. Loved having air conditioning in July. View from our bathroom was stunning!
A nice hotel in the heart of Venice
I found this a charming hotel, in a fantastic location. Very close to shops, restaurants and only 2 minutes from Piazza San Marco. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the wifi was great. The bathroom was cramped, but perfectly functional. The included breakfast was simple but tasty. The staff were friendly and obliging. Overall, a great place to stay in beautiful Venice.
Sweet, affordable hotel right where the action is
Ok, no view from one's room and no lift. Other than that, we were thrilled with this friendly, affordable hotel literally a three-minute walk from St. Mark's Square. The staff was friendly, the decor charming, the cleanliness exemplary, and the included breakfast all you could ask for (including a sweet view of an ancient square). You really know you're in Venice when you stay here. We would willingly return to this special place again and again.
Beautiful hotel, amazing find!!
This hotel was perfect, great location right next to st marks square, and boat stop. Perfect rooms decorated in Italian style, clean and just what we needed. Cute breakfast, just enough to fill you for a morning of exploring. There is no lift which might bother some people but didn't fuss us! We will definitely be back!!
Walking distance to Venice city
Good location and cozy place to stay in Venice
March in Venice.
Nice Place to stay - slight too expensive, but on a par with Venice and this area, Good base for staying and easy to find. Pleasant friendly staff - no unexpected extras at the end of the stay. No lift and stairs got a little long at the end of days walking around Venice. Good Breakfast (included) set you up well for the day.
Great location for the money.
Great location. 2 blocks from St. Marks. Great breakfast. But 4 keys to get to your room?
Orion is the place to stay in Venice
The location is great. The staff was friendly and very helpful; they even lifted our heavy bags up the stairs for us (both directions). The breakfasts were wonderful. I would stay in this hotel again if visiting Venice.
Hotel Orion is a wonderful family-run hotel. We can't rate it more highly. It's in a great location. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast is great. It's a charming place.
Good 2-star hotel in the heart of San Marco
Hotel Orion is right in the heart of Venice. Steps from Rialto bridge and St. Mark's Sq. My only critique would be that the rooms could use some updating. The hotel concierge staff was quite helpful and friendly.
Very central
Close to everything good location Bathroom small Didn't like stairs dangerous
- bathroom too small to sit on toilette. great cappichino
Fantastic
Romantic Vacation
Everything great, except air conditioning didn't really cool the room. As air conditioning isn't common in Europe in the first place, it was to be expected.
Conveniently located near St. Mark's Square
Hotel Orion is tucked away behind St. Mark's Square just steps from the main cultural sites in Venice. The rooms were clean with updated bathrooms. The A/C struggled in the humidity of August, but it helped a bit. It was perfect for our short stay in Venice so we could see the sites.
Great location near St. Mark's Square
We stayed in the small double room and it was cosy but adequate for our busy days in Venice. The breakfast was also tasty with cappuccino, brioche, meats, cheese, yogurt and fruit.
Great Venetian pensione
Nice Friendly Hotel in Excellent Location
Excellent location, breakfast and service. Room was very good although a little gloomy and shower operation an art form. Would highly recommend as a base for sightseeing.
For a ** hotel this place is excellent. The breakfast keeps you going until lunch and the hotel is very close to San Marco.
Fantastic hotel in a cracking location
Had such a romantic stay here! We were given the top room on the 5th floor, with a beautiful view over the city. The room was spacious, clean and a modern bathroom. Breakfast was served from 8-10am and the staff were incredibly polite and helpful. Location was what gave the hotel its edge - right near two main Vaporetto stations and round the corner from San Marco Basilica! Restaurants and shops aplenty - a truly enjoyable experience at a beautiful hotel.
Block behind St Mark's Sq
Excellent location, superb staff. Small, tight bathroom but room quiet and comfortable.
Location good, terrible service
To start with positives, the location is good.. A few minutes from Rialto Bridge. Coming to its service - terrible. The receptionist is the most rude and uncooperative person I have ever come across.. He misbehaved with mg parents, which was not cool. Also the breakfast, the lady who serves croissants tells her colleagues out loud, if you ask for one more croissant. (Might as well write that 1 croissant per person instead of humiliating guests)
Perfect location for exploring Venice
Hotel Orion is a compact place to say ideally situated only two minutes walk from Piazza San Marco. The staff were courteous and the breakfast ladies in particular worked hard every day. Breakfast consisted of a sweet pastry, rolls and other condiments, ham, cheese and hot and cold drinks. The room was very small though and the bathroom particularly so. It was impossible for water from the shower not to get all over the floor. The views from the room were nice though - one way looking upmto the basilica and the other over-looking Campo San Zulian. Recommended for the location but other than that, not value for money.
Cleanliness of Hotel
Relaxing and conform stay. Indeed easy access to town
central location,friendly staff,clean room = orion

Everything good but air conditioning...
Hotel close to the sights
Nice simple, clean hotel... good breakfast and very close to all the main sights... would recommend
The reservation was payed with a credit card, whose owner is another person than me (I made the reservation under my account). The receptionist insisted at first to receive from that person, with whom I'm no longer in a positive relationship, a confirmation email that the reservation is OK with him, even though it's not under his name, and it was made about 3 months in advance, pre-payed fully and approved by both Expedia and the credit card company.
I would stay there again
No elevator but someone carried my suitcase immediately up the stairs. The staff was very helpful and my room was comfortable. No bathtub but the shower was fine. the breakfast was very good.
We only had one night and overall it was fine !
Hotel Orion is in a Great location, for Venezia!!! Near the main square and best named shops. Also there are nice restaurants within comfortable walking distance Staff was very friendly, helpful and knowledgable
Recommend
Fantastic great location and couldn't hear any outside noise and staff very helpful
First of all, the breakfast was delicious. Everything was walking distance especially to San Marco. The hotel staff was very kind. They spoke both Spanish and English. The hotel room was nice and we had a nice view of the streets of Venice. We would definitely go back.
