Centeraly located but Kearny st being only one way forced to walk back to The Market st. Close by historic Italian section is nice. The hotel is mostly occupied by the very noisy locals who reside here with the permanent gov supports, their behaiviour is nit civikized,,one can always hear noisy arguments and loud music played. The towels and sheets won"t be changed often if you plan to stay for afew weeks.
I like Lucas! She is great at interacting with diverse and people from various cultural backgrounds. I would have never guessed she was new, and I see her running the place soon!
Good vibes
Very good
Everything as expected from a hotel of this tupe, including price.
For what it’s worth.
Average amenities. Nothing special to speak of.
Atmosphere influenced me to leave the country immediately. Really bad place to stay. An environment nearby is just disgusting
Want expecting a lot from this very inexpensive hotel, but there were fit and finish issues severe enough to not want to stay the night after seeing the room. Threadbare sheets. Sticky tile floor. 1990s style CRT television. Screenless window stuck open to the outdoor air. Desk and (folding) chair set that looked like it had been pulled from a trash can. Expedia made it worse by insisting on no refund of any kind after I’d checked in (required in order to actually see the room). BEST AVOIDED.
Great Stay
Nice hotel friendly staff very clean and comfortable rooms
They made me pay an extra $130 to check in the day I had already booked!
It was all very good
The location was great
I liked how it was close by to all the good shops and during my visit there was a parade and festival in Chinatown and I had a clear view of it at my window, several coffee shops nearby and very walkable to most attractions and very close to buses only thing is theirs barley and parking in that area
Good
Everyone was friendly and made me feel at home and made sure I was taking care of Beds Confortable very quiet hotel
I dont like to share the bathroom.
I recently stayed at North Beach Hotel, and my experience was quite mixed. Pros: • Great Location: The hotel is conveniently located, making it easy to reach various tourist attractions. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and Chinatown is just one street away. • Room Amenities: The room was equipped with a fridge and microwave, which was quite handy. Surprisingly, the fridge was clean and odor-free. Cons: • Unpleasant Smell: The hotel had a musty, decaying odor that was quite off-putting. • Poor Room Condition: The blinds couldn’t be pulled down completely, compromising privacy. • Bathroom Issues: The shared bathroom window wouldn’t close, and there was no hot water in the morning for a shower. • Noise Disturbance: At night, there were strange noises. On the first night, loud shouting, including profanities like “f**k you,” continued until 2 AM. • Cleanliness Concerns: No housekeeping during my stay. After the first night, I experienced severe itching, and small red bumps appeared on my skin. Overall, while the location was excellent, the hotel’s hygiene, maintenance, and noise levels made for an uncomfortable stay. I wouldn’t recommend it unless improvements are made.
Front desk is great, convenient for me to get around.
Love how clean this place is
Love the staff friendly and it’s a very very clean place
It was awful.
Very quiet small room but I loved it and will be coming back again
I slept sporadically due to noise from all directions. A person in an adjacent room ranted aggressively for hours. The mini fridge was loud. Not all shared toilets have a sink. One that did have a sink had a broken soap dispenser. Such a setup does not feel sanitary nor healthy to me. The staff was friendly and kind. The place was acceptably clean. I chose to stay at this hotel due to its location. Next time, I will make other arrangements for lodging.
- the front desk staff was good overall - the area is cool but finding parking is tough - old box tv in the room sucks - the walls of the room were dirty - the towels provided had stains on them
Thank you.
Thank you.

It was a koo experience. The staff was friendly.

Good service
Bedbugs
Not a great place but economic solution
Heat doesn't work in the room. I was told to "wait a while" for it to kick on "since it's on a timer." It never "kicked in". The blinds are broken and don't provide privacy completely. The table surfaces were dirty. There is no hand soap or hand sanitizer in any of the shared bathrooms. The WiFi is so bad that it kept dropping out and giving "low speed" warnings on my computer. A lot of unsavory characters staying IN the building and around the lobby/outside. I won't be staying here again. Yeah, I know it's cheap, but I won't do this again.
The worst aspect of the hotel is the service, where the staff is unqualified and don’t really understand the whole industry in which they are, a service industry. Most interaction with them is painful as they see the customer as another source of their daily problem and not as guests to help and guide while visiting the city or just staying a couple weeks in the area. The amenities are what you would expect for this price, fair. The location is pretty good, it’s a nice area of the city. Transportation is good. If you might have any inconvenience during your stay, I would highly recommend any of the other hotels available on Expedia or other plateformes.
Front desk is great, everything is close for me. Share the bathrooms but nobody is ever there.
Good stay!
Thanks they are so nice and clean!!!!
Awesome
Very very bad
It was easy access and a safe place with nice people
There’s roaches, be prepared to kill roaches. The Staff needs better training.
It's close to Embarcadero
Great room for the price
Staff are friendly and kind
The shower and bathroom is in the hall, it was always available. There was a sink in the room, that was good. Microwave and mini fridge were nice. The tv was an old boxy thing and the remote didn't work. You could hear the neighbors. If you can bear the communal shower and bathroom, then go for it.
👌
Found a cockroach in the room upon arrival. Hotel is covered in very old carpet that smells of animal urine. Elevator broken. Neighbourhood very sketchy and loud at night. Would not recommend at all.
Alot

Never come again
Smelled terribly, dirty furniture, even for that price couldn’t stand that smell ever again
GREAT HOTEL & LOCATION.
I wasn't allowed to check in
Beside the China town and 20mins walking to the beach or Union square. Property is old and poorly maintained but staff are nice and friendly.
Night Auditor was rude. Place was fine overall.
just. no.
Shared works fine for me but might not be for everyone
good
hallway poorly dimmed. outdated rooms and bathrooms. small rooms. no screens on windows. mosquitos in room, bugs in linen. i didn't stay the night and left immediately 3 am to another hotel. very inconvenient.
Terrible service from one old lady with pink hair. We were so tired after 40 hour flight trip from central Asia and instead of simply checking us in, she started being very rude and provocative and destroyed whole impression about city right there. Later we discovered that she doesn't like people from our neighbor country and she thought that we're from there as we look quite similar. So it was just a personal revenge just because we looked like people she don't like. She gave us one of the worst rooms where we found a cockroach that was 2 inch size, we thought it's a mice. Other staff were at least neutral and little friendly so nothing bad about them Wouldn't recommend if you don't want to destroy your whole trip mood.
I recently stayed at Hotel North Beach, and I was thoroughly disappointed. The cleanliness was abysmal; I found cockroaches in my room, which made it impossible to feel comfortable. To make matters worse, there was no air conditioning, leaving the room uncomfortably hot. The shared bathrooms with the apartments were also in poor condition, further detracting from the experience. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. Save your money and stay away!
Staff are friendly
Worst hotel experience ever. Not sure how they got good reviews. I called, then remembered I had forgotten another question. Answering my 2nd call, the person snapped, 'YOU ALREADY CALLED HERE!" We arrived in the early evening & there was NO hotel parking & no place to pull up & check in. I had to stop in the turn lane & run in to ask where to park. Within seconds a policeman was behind my vehicle writing me a ticket. I ran out & begged him not to, as I had no place to park. He yelled, "JUST GET OUT OF HERE!" I was stressed! Found a garage, but we hadn't eaten, so went to eat at the wharf. Returned to the garage after, but it had been locked up for the night. We drove around & around for an hour trying to find another garage & they were all locked. I stopped in the turn lane again to run in & ask the front desk person where to park. He said there was only 1 garage open still. We went there & the clearance was 6 feet, not high enough for my truck. All the street parking had signs that vehicles there between 2-6am would be towed. So we set our alarm for 1:30am. When checking out, there was a guy tweaking out on drugs in the lobby. We only got 2 hours of sleep. The room had no restroom. There was closet across the hall with a toilet (no sink or shower). And there was a hole in the door that was stuffed with toilet paper & no lock on the door. I felt very unsafe. We left the city and found a safe parking lot outside the city. We slept inside my truck. Awful, awful experience!
Great place to stay for the budget and location
We want a refund.
Decimus they have a nice we got but by sand bugs or spiders and there were 4 cockroaches in the room. There were 2 of us in the room however they only have us I've set it towels a day. The 3rd for elevator button was not working you had to walk down a flight if stairs and ride the elevator to to 3rd to ride all the way down to Lobby. Our bathroom across the hall didn't have a light and was constantly clogged.
I love this hotel. For the price it's a great option. It's right in the heart of North Beach, China Town, the Financial District and the waterfront. 5 min walk to the Ferry building. Rooms are small but u have what u need and 24 hour desk staff keep the place safe and sane. Rare for San Francisco at this price range. Also, staff are kind enough to let you check your luggage if u arrive before 3pm. Very helpful.
Friendly staff
It wasn’t clean there was bed bugs
Good
Was told after booking through Expedia that there was a $65 security deposit that will go back when I check out. It’s been a week and no deposit was returned. I look online and this is a re occurring problem
I ASKED A QUESTION & MARISSA THE FRONT CLERK SCREAMED AT ME & SAID THAT SHE COULD ASK ME TO LEAVE & REFUSE SERVICE. THE MORNING CLERK DID THE SAME THING.THE MICROWAVE DIDN'T WORK, & IF U NEED CLEAN TOWELS {2 SMALL & 1 LARGE}, U HAVE TO BRING THEM DOWN TO THE LOBBY. I STAYED 6 THEN 11 DAYS. I HAD TO ASK THEM TO CLEAN MY ROOM, AFTER 5 DAYS. THE WORST HOTEL THAT I HAVE EVER STAYED AT.
An old, classy hotel, from back in the day, that’s kept up very nicely. Very clean. Rooms are 10 x 10, but are very nice. Largest mini fridge I’ve ever seen, microwave, comfortable bed, giant flat panel on the wall, etc. A nice hotel, and a nice location. Chinatown, one side, little Italy on the other. A lot of good Chinese restaurants, and a series of excellent Italian restaurants. The dining options in this area are unlimited. The rooms are inexpensive, and you get a lot for your money. The building was built over 100 years ago, so the bathrooms and showers are down the hall. The showers and toilets are super nice, and as always plenty of hot water. There’s a nice sink in every room. This place is so old-school elegant, I’m looking to stay here for six months. The hotels is near a good shopping, the cable cars, Fishermans wharf, the fairies, two other cities,, etc. You’re looking for a nice, organized, safe, An expensive hotel, in the center of the action in San Francisco, this is the place.
The best deal on a room if you're ever staying in Northbeach, San Francisco
The location is hard to beat, the staff are great and facilities are ok. Overall, Hotel Northbeach is a solid place to stay whenever you're in San Francisco for either business or travel.
Nice place with a nice staff. You get mire than what you oay for.
Close to Public transportation
At first I thought it was kinda sketchy but it ended up being a good place to stay. The staff were friendly except for one person on check in. The bathrooms were cleaned everyday. The room was small but was renovated with new paint and floor. Very cozy room. Your just in your room to sleep. Many attractions are within walking distance. So many restaurants to choose from. I would stay at this hotel again.
Cockroaches everywhere. Would not recommend.
Quiet place
…
There were 2 bathrooms for the entire floor to share and one was out of order. The working one was full of vomit and smelled awful. There was no soap in the broken soap dispenser. I left on Monday afternoon even though I was until Thursday morning.
Unsettling
roaches
Staff are kind and helpful
The Staff will be your biggest problem, if you can get pass/over the rudeness of the Staff, that is a great spot to stay at.
THEY SCAMMED US! Me and my girlfriend came here and while we were paying they asked for fifty dollar “security deposit” that will get refunded straight after our stay. It’s been a few days and we have gotten nothing back. My girlfriend tried calling the hotel but they hung up on her! Obviously this is just a scam to rob us of our money for a an already horrible hotel. Do not stay here!!!
Love this place. huge shout out and thank you to Shaun. Wonderful employee and so helpful. My granddaughter got to the airport easy peasy. Again thank you so much. Will be back next year.
Front desk staff was not very helpful. She was physically there but she kept on saying she’s not here lol. I guess her relief was late showing up. But while she was there, she was unwilling to help anyone who walked in or called and simple questions like, when can I check in or since you won’t check me in at this moment, what’s the latest I can come back and check it. She couldn’t even answer that. Besides the roaches in my sink the bathrooms and showers were very clean.
Location was a 20 min walk from Fisherman’s Wharf, however the area seemed quite unsafe. Some communal bathrooms in the property had no lock or light. Rooms were clean and well equipped but noisy.
Considering the low cost of the weekly rate this place is great. It's my go to city place.
Good to stay
Accessible to public transportation
This property is a clean, affordable, and quiet hotel for visitors to stay. It is located less than five minutes from public transportation. The staff is courteous and provide the convience to hold your luggage in a safe place, in the case if you arrive early or hours before the check-in time. There are sufficient bathrooms on every floor and each room is equipped with a refrigerator and microwave oven. What i did`nt like about Hotel North Beach is that they don`t provide free breakfast and there computer was`nt working. On the day that i was supposed to check out, i had to go to a nearby library to check-in for my flight to return home that evening. Otherwise, it is a good hotel for anyone to stay, especially vacationers or tourist. I may choose Hotel North Beach again if i decide to return to San Francisco, CA.
This was easily the worst travel experience I have ever had. Admittedly, not all of it was the hotel’s fault, but please avoid this if you have any other options
Although an old hotel, it was generally quite clean and seemed well cared for. A few glitches: no hangers in the closet and I had to ask several times before they (2) were provided. One bathroom had 1/3 of the toilet cover missing. The dark carpeting in front of the 3rd floor elevator had stains (flecks of dried white paint?) made it look like it needed a cleaning. The bed was comfortable and the room small but clean and, for my purposes, quite adequate.
