Not much amenities. They didn’t provide ample drinking water. There was no kettle to drink water. I guess Sunday was a holiday so there was no staff in the hotel.
Friendly staff, great location, best gelato right downstairs at Fassi!
Excelente stay, very kind service
The property does not look like the photos provided by the hotel, far from it. The hotel is located in a dirty street inside a not so safe area of Rome. The hotel uses 1 floor of a property that is not in a very good condition. The rooms are small and dingy. On the positive side the staff was very friendly. Upon arrival I could not avoid the feeling of having being duped by the images that I saw in the Expedia website. I blame both the hotel owner for being deceitful and Expedia for not caring to verify that the images posted on their website are real.
Great budget hotel in the heart of Rome
This is a great small hotel located in the heart of Rome. Probably less than 20 Minute drive from Colosseum and trevi fountain. Mind you this is a budget hotel so you will be giving up luxuries like a tv with English channels and the room is very small. But if you’re looking for a good clean place to lay your head this is the place for you. Also staff is very friendly and speaks great English.
Basic but clean, comfortable and great/convenient location for a 2 night stay
Surprisingly this place has a high rate. Although Very old place ir was clean. The room did not had a wifi connection. Expedia did not do much, the owner refused to change the room, make a partial refund or just fix the connection. Basically he did not care. It was troublesome for us couple of days there. The next day i spoke with the person at the reception who told me that this is a long standing issue , in that particular room there. And still did not do anything.i wonder why nobody told me in advance about the issue as i would have waited for the room i originally booked. There is no reception after 6pm. The blankets in the rooms were quite old, no duvets and no covers. The lint from that blanket was everywhere. My little one even started coughing at nights because of that lint. I wish i had paid some extra money and had proper response when & if there are issues. Does not worth it. Location is good but so much plenty of other places to stay around.
Vibes, Simple
My stay at this hotel was very good, I can recommend it not only for its good location, but also for its spacious rooms, good treatment by the administration...etc.
Very inconvenient location. Bathroom not clean. Price did no match with the received service
This is a small boutique family run hotel. When we arrived they treated us like family. They helped us decide where to go and how to get there. Thanks to the location, it was easy to get to all of the sites we were interested in and the staff pointed out a few other things to see and do. The only negative of the the hotel was that the coffee machine was geared for Italian taste (espresso) rather than American style coffee. But, when in Rome, do as the Romans do.
Staff really friendly and helpful. Metro station, Supermarket, A walking distance. The place really clean
Owner is a very kind person, good
Check in was easy, the hotel is set inside a beautiful condominium building within walking distance to parks, bars, restaurants and the Historic Center. Staff was extremely friendly, cleaning service was above and beyond! (They mopped under the beds daily!) While they advertise free Wi-Fi, there was no Wi-Fi in the rooms. We had to sit in the reception office to connect to internet. They said it was being fixed the following week but we stayed a week and a half and it was never connected. That aside, I would recommend staying here.
It's a good place to stay cheap. WiFi didn't work at all on any of my devices, which was a bummer. Other than that, it's clean, cheap and located a block away of a subway station. It's also near Roma Termini station, which is also nice. Keep in mind this is not the best looking neighbourhood in the city.
The room had a good view and nice en-suite bathroom. Handy having a built in small fridge too. The only slight drawback was very poor WiFi connectivity. I have advised the owners to invest in another make of WiFi hub.
Disappointed
I booked a room for 3 people for my family and was given a room with one big bed. Not sure of the custom in Rome, but communal sleeping on holiday is not what I anticipated. The location was good-- easy walking distance to most sites. If you get a room facing the street, the tram thunders along just outside your window at regular intervals making it hard to sleep. And, we awoke each morning with several itchy bites.... No idea what type of bug was biting us but the bites were very itchy.
It is 200 meters from the metro station and you can reach many tourist destinations
Ok stay with near metro station .
The room wasn’t as expected . The exhaust wasn’t working and the room was a chamber full of moisture. Because of the moisture content , the beds and other things felt damp and watery . The room was so so small and nobody understood English and it was quite difficult to explain anything to the host . The only good thing is it’s very near to the Rome central station and there is a metro & team station near the hotel .
Very good clean and welcoming
At night was very load. Someone was shouting all night. We couldn’t sleep.
Terrible hotel in a terrible city
Based on the pictures on this website we thought we would be staying in a modern, clean hotel, but were dismayed to find an outdated, rundown hotel with stained linens and old facilities with a musty smell. Accessing the hotel was difficult as the reception was not always available. I had to help an Argentinian couple call the hotel manager to let them into their room upon their arrival. The poor couple had already been waiting for hours without being able to get in touch with the hotel manager before I arrived to assist them! The in-room wifi did not work the entire week we were there, and no attempt was made to get it working again. Beware the extra charge, which MUST be paid in cash upon arrival before you get your keys. Apparently it is a "standard" room charge for Rome, but which for some reason can only be paid in cash. I wonder where that money goes...? Please avoid this hotel.
Overall
Good
Way beyond expectation
Before visit, I didn't expect about 2 star Hotel, but for me this hotel is at least 4~5 stars Room was very clean and comfortable, WiFi is working moderately well, always some bread with breakfast and coffee these are all "free". The location is a bit awkward, but it doesn't matter that much.
Decent and friendly hotel
Everything is fine except 2 things : no WiFi, albeit that the friendly staff explained that it was temporary; the hotel is located in an apparently less appealing area but it is compensated by having "Fassi", a renowned gelaterie and a big supermarket close by.
Best Ice cream shop right next door
It was walking distance to the train station. Its on the 3rd floor of an older building. The employees and owners were very helpful. Rooms were very clean. It was very affordable.
Very Good Experience
Friendly and helpful staff, very clean room, excellent location (close to city center), but noisy!
Huge bed and the air conditioning worked great. The free pastries and water each day were appreciated. Service was friendly. However, the lock on the bathroom door was gone, and the door to it was very stiff. The “WiFi” doesn't work even the slightest.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The director was also very nice. A very clean and well maintained hotel
Not for tall or well built people
The hotel is in a somewhat shady looking area or maybe it was the walk from the termini station that made us feel that way. No issues reported as such... the hotel is a single floor in a multi building multi floor complex and shares buildings with other residences/hotels... the hotel was okay but very tiny.... the shower stall was literally the width of my shoulders and to add to my woes the entrance to the shower stall is blocked by the commode... it is very hard to squeeze out without touching it. I will not recommend this hotel to any normal sized person at all, maybe if everyone was the size of a child sure but otherwise look for other options....
1. wifi does not work in all parts of the hotel, make sure you book a room on the reception side 2. rooms are way old style, no effort at all made, the points in the wall to recharge are not solid at all, no curtains in my room, one only bin added last minute in front of me during checkin 3. awful and disrupted keys to open rooms' doors. Mine broke (and the receptionist told me it happened different times already in the past) and the OWNER of the hotel pretended i had to pay 90e to replace/fix it (unbelievable!!). 4. huge noise in the morning from the staff since 7am (talking, cleaning etc) Only one person in the staff was really helpful and nice, the blond lady. Other than this positive note, i would not recommend this hotel AT ALL to any future guest. Personal guest experience > - 10.
Best ice cream ever!
Within walking distance of all the major sites. Clean comfy rooms. Friendly staff. Replenished bottled water daily. Near restaurants and an amazing ice cream parlour that opened until midnight! On a main road but rooms high enough on 2nd floor to be away from the noise. Only minor issue was WiFi was either very slow or not working. Overall bloody brilliant!
Nice hotel
Hotel was in good location and staff were very helpful.
Great value for money
Nice location close to the train station and next to the tram and metro. Good for sightseeings, walks and shopping. All was clean, bed was comfortable. Coffee and snacks available outside the room. Cute little courtyard with trees and flowers. Elevator in the building. Stuff was helpful and friendly.
Location close to Termini station. Very helpful staff.
Nice Hotel
Only stayed one night but the hotel is as displayed on the website. We arrived early before normal check in time but we were able to leave our luggage which they put into our room while we went to tour the city.
Cenral and close to termini
Since booking online, received several emails and reminders from the reception team. It was to inform them about check in time as they don't have 24 hrs reception.. the staff at the reception ( Angela) is extremely welcoming and friendly.. i needed to change the room after couple of days and she ensured to get me appropriate room instantly. She gave me all the information needed from touristic point of view.. overall a very good experience
Small, simple but very clean and great location near the metro. Air conditioning is great for midday in summer
a nice stay
we really enjoyed the hotel. the room was comfortable as well as the bed. only issue could be that the wall are thin between rooms. so if you have a loud neighbor you are out of luck. but else I'd recommend to stay at this hotel. great bang for your bucks.
The girl at the front desk was super nice and helpful. About the location it is close tothe metro station also to the train station. thumbs up
close to Termini station and airport bus
Very friendly owner/staff, good location - just 10 minutes by foot from Termini station, we have heard noise from the street - anyway we could sleep. Bed could be more comfortable. Own heater in room. Internet working. We have got 2 bottles of water and croissants.
Clean and comfortable hotel
Very nice staff, accomodating and helpful. Overall our stay was good except for the noise next door and above us, you can hear people when people are talking. But it did not bother is
Too much for a 5 hr stay...
Late arrival fee was disappointing. Expedia should make that much clearer prior to finalized booking. Neighbor was deep in conversation until 2:30am and only stopped when I pounded on the wall. I had an early morning flight and was only looking for a place to sleep before heading to Termini train station. Didn't sleep much given the neighbor issue and street noise. I was looking for a reasonably priced short stay, the late arrival fee put this hotel above others I considered. The room was clean, bathroom acceptable. I would recommend it for the price IF a guest can get their before the $30 late fee hits you.
Comfortable hotel close to Terminii Train Station
We had a little bit of difficulty finding the hotel as it was situated on the third floor of the building. However, the room was very clean and the air conditioner worked well. All in all, the room was fine and the lift worked well, Np problems at all
Good place
Stayed here for 2 weeks, very convenient place from which to explore Rome. Nice to be near the train station.
The place is so hard to find. We cam out of Rome Termini station and was told to take the subway again. It was not as described on the web as a convenient location. After we cam out the subway, we found the street but could not find the number for this hotel. When we reach to the gate, we could not find anyone at the reception. It was a lot of troubles.
Only stayed one night and wanted hotel close to train station. Walking from the train station to hotel was through a BAD area. Upon check-in the lady didn't speak English which made it hard to order a cab for the next day and figure out where to eat. Initially it didn't look like there was anyplace around hotel to eat and then we figured out which direction we needed to walk. I should have chosen B&B Domus Liberius where I stayed while in Rome the first part of my trip. This B&B is also within walking distance of train station and is much nicer.
Great hotel with excellent location
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Rome, this hotel is better than I expected, the staff is very nice and helpful, it has a lot of security, It is very clean. I traveled with my family and we were very happy staying in this hotel because not only the staff make it a warm place to stay it is also that can easily fit a large families with comfortable a beds, also the location is excellent close to metro station that takes you to any place you want to visit . I definitely will come back to this hotel if I have the chance to return again to Rome and will definitely recommend it to the rest of my family and friends.
VERY NICE HOTEL
VERY NICE AND CLEAN HOTEL, FAR FROM THE HISTORICAL AREA AND VERY FAR FROM EL VATICANO. BUT THE METRO STATION IS VERY CLOSE TO THE HOTEL
Good for low cost conscientious sightseers
Hotel served its purpose. A place to crash with a good bed. However we needed to open the window to cool down. A/C was off. Need a remote controller to operate. Neighborhood very noisy. Got A/C on manually and it held the room at s reasonable temp. Was able to close the window and get sleep. They offered packaged rolls as a breakfast treat although we had it listed as no breakfast included. Coffee was available. Very close to metro station and Termini. For 3 travelers, room was small.
Late checkin charge
No one there to greet us and as single parent in middle of strange city not acceptable and to be charged for arriving late was a disgrace so to say arrival was not good is an understatement although once we were shown to room hotel was clean and comfortable.
Nice hotel close to Termini Station
This hotel is very accessible from Termini station and close to bus stop for hop on hop off tours. The community atmosphere was very welcoming and secure. Didn't feel threatening or being harassed by vendors. Reasonably priced restaurants near by. For those of you wishing to try Italian gelato, just down the street is the best gelato in our opinion at Palazzo del Freddo di Giovanni Fassi.
Close to the metro and santa maria maggiore church
Scarry neighbourhood. Hard to locate even harder to access. Front counter staff note always present eventhough they know you're coming. Told of amenities in the room, when i pointed out they werent there. i was told. well. it's too late ? Breakfast was 2 packaged pastries located in the room
Excellent Value and Service
We stayed in this Hotel for 2 nights on our way to spend a week in Ischia, We had everything we needed in our room, including a fridge and very comfortable bed. We were very impressed with the service, just after we booked the room Tino, who speaks very good English contacted us to see if he could arrange transport from the airport (which he did at a cost of 50euros)and he also obtained tickets for the Vatican City the next day -which saved a long wait in the queue.
Nice hotel in a less busy corner of town
Away from tourist Rome but on the train line for easy access.
Good not expencive hotel - close to metro and Term
Room was clean with good bed and free working Wi-Fi (make sure to try 2 different ID/password). No breakfast only free coffee. There is small refrigerator in room with free water and soda. The hotel is a couple blocks to the train station and supermarket. Our room was facing a small courtyard - no noise from the street. Staff was friendly. Hotel is 15 min to walk from Termini and easy to find.
Would be cautious about the area
This was a nice, clean hotel with a friendly, helpful staff. The area where it is located, although close to the train station, is pretty seedy. In fact, our taxi driver warned us about pickpockets as we paid the fare.
Unsavory area of city
Ok. Very small room. Difficult to get to from street
My review
Simple clean room, shower wasn't great
nothing fancy, right next to the metro. People at the reception are nice and helpful.
Rome vacation
Very nice staff, clean rooms, wifi and air.
do not stay here
Room was dirty and super tiny. In a unsafe area. Do NOT recommend.
Nice small an AC guest house sort of hotel
OK If u r out most of the day visiting tourist places.Hotel doesn't have a restaurant or BF facility, with skelton staff. Suitable for a budget traveller.
It's near to metro
It's quite decent hotel small and reasonable and value for money.
Nice 2-star hotel
Front desk staff not always present but pleasant overall. Convenient location.
Friendly staff, basic hotel
Very nice owner and the lady at the front desk was super accommodating. The hotel is a couple blocks to the train station, near a good restaurant and the super market. It's about a mile walk from the Colosseum and 3 miles from the Vatican. It is definitely 2 star amenities, but very clean, basic, affordable hotel. The Wifi is hit or miss, its not consistent if needed and the roll out bed needs some work you can feel the springs and a little uncomfortable. Overall, I would stay here again!
Nice
We had a hassle at check-in as no one at Reception but think that was due to us making a last minute booking and not seeing their email asking for a check-in time. Otherwise all was good. Area not as good as our previous hotel but then it was also much cheaper!
The best hotel
Romantic, beautiful room. Marble floor ,shining washroom , comfort bed and nice style of the room. Two bottles of free water and delicious bread....
I'll come again!
I simply enjoyed my stay at this Hotel. There could have been a proper breakfast, but nonetheless my room was quiet, clean and comfortable.
Hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Termini station, hotel is very clean and staff were very friendly. There was a great Italian restaurant just down the street on the corner. Was a very comfortable stay.
Close to station
Nice stay close to station
Good, but noisy front staff
This hotel is very secluded, our hotel room was facing a small courtyard which kept the noise from the street down. However, we were on the same floor as the reception which had a member of staff there until 2am one day, making phone calls or talking with someone else. The place seemed small and family owned, so I'm not sure why there was someone there so late at night, considering the check-in closed at 9pm. We went out at 10pm to no one at the front desk, only to wake up from their loud talking at 2am. The room itself was overall nice though, the beds were comfy enough and there was a desk in the room, as well as a private bathroom with shower, toilet and bidet. The housekeeping was every day though it tended to come late, one day at 4pm when we got back. There was a personal fridge and although the place did not have free breakfast, there was a free pastry in your room with the cleaning lady and free coffee in the lobby. The hotel is very close to the subway and to the main train station in Rome. It's a 15 minute walk or one stop on the subway, which has escalators if you have a lot of luggage. There is only a small staircase to climb to get up to the sidewalk. I would recommend this hotel, but would tell other guests to ask for a higher floor than 3 (lobby level).
Nice room
Very nice and clean room. Room was bigger than I expected. Staffs were really nice and helpful. The hotel is in a nice little courtyard, 2 blocks from metro.
Don't stay here!
Rather bad experience. The rooms are small, not air conditioned. Bed sheets are dirty, I got itchy all over my legs from them and my wife got an allergic reaction. Hard to sleep there because the room gets stuffy very quickly. Right outside the hotel there is a railtrack, you will hear the trams, cars and people walking and shouting most of the night. Very poor noise isolation. You will NOT get a good rest here.
Good location for walking
The location was good for walking to attractions but I did not feel safe walking in the area at night. The people working at the hotel were very nice and helpful. Our bathroom shower was broken and had no pressure.
City break
Clean basic hotel room. Television, air on, hairdryer in room. Close proximity to metro. 10-15min walk to colosseum/Roman forum. Provide water and croissants daily. Opportunity to leave luggage on last day until mid afternoon. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent gelato shop two doors down!!
Rome
Convenient to metro, bus and trains. Staff were helpful and did a good job helping us get oriented to the city.
Nice budget hotel
The staff here are lovely, I realised en route that we arrived in Rome from Melbourne a day earlier and after a quick phone call at one of our stops they managed to put us in a room, the lady was helpful and someone stayed late to check us in. Our first room was fantastic despite having to share a bed with our son, that fault being our own and not the hotels, new bathroom, working shower and comfortable bed. Our second room wasn't as fantastic as the first whilst it was clean and comfortable the shower didn't work as well as the other and we couldn't get wifi. Overall though this hotel was on a budget and I think in comparison to some of the other options available in Rome we could have fared much worse. I would recommend this to people who don't mind being a little out the centre and are happy to take a short walk.
Good+
I was happy to stay in Moscatello.Right price.Clean.Excellent staff. Bad point :Wi-Fi works just outside room.
Percect for a short stay.
Thank goodness I read the reviews and knew to keep an eye out for the signs (there are several yellow "hote" signs in the area and the "Moscatello" was very small). The reception people were very helpful. Our train was delayed and we were assured that someone would be there, even if it was late. They suggested decent food, but nothing stellar. The hotel was clean with working AC. We did not try the internet. We were only there for 8 hours to sleep between train trips, but it was perfect for what we needed.
Great location
Excellent location. About 10 minutes walk from the main train station Termini as well as being very close to a metro station. There is a supermarket very close by and a popular icecream bar. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. The room was far better than one would expect in a two star hotel, i.e. a private wc, a minibar and a safe. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were clean. The cleaning of the floor could however have been more thorough. And the neighbourhood was not very nice, the streets smelled of urine, probably because of homeless people.
near train station
the hotel was located near train station. it would be perfect location to who ahead to other destination early in the morning nextday. not suitable for Vatican & Rome city tour.
Good night stay, bad wi-fi
The room was very clean and front desk was helpful. Finding the hotel was a bit difficult at first; it is on the third floor of a building. You need to buzz the front desk from the street and tell them your name so you can be let in. I arrived early and was allowed to keep my luggage in reception until my room was ready. Bed was a bit uncomfortable but I wasn't expecting anything fancy. Shower was very small. Neighborhood isn't great, a lot of foreigners trying to sell you things. Only a short walk from a metro and Termini which was great. The wi-fi needs to be updated as it didn't reach my room, and this was unacceptable to me as internet is my main means of communication with family and friends back home.
Great budget hotel
Really liked the hotel. Very clean and staff was great and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
Great value and pleasant
We enjoyed our stay and it was in a good location close to shops and metro. From the exterior it does not appear as a typical hotel. The rooms have your needed amenities, are clean and they provide a bottle of water daily. The staff is friendly and are accommodating. Rooms are small, but this is typical for most European hotels. I thought it was a great value.
Great modern clean room & excellent transport link
Highly recommend if you are looking for a good clean hotel with great transport links. Stayed for one night in June and booked very last minute so was worried about the state of some hotels I had been looking at. Was pleasantly surprised to find a very modern clean room with wifi and air con. Subway is 2minute walk and Termini Train Station is 10mins walk. Only downside is the neighbourhood is not that great but then we spent all day and eve out exploring Rome anyway!
The hotel location is very strategic for travellers and tourist alike. Public transportation is very much reachable by walking.
Updated and clean
modern batroom appears to be recently updated. very clean. hotel service was good. WIFI did not work in room except on rare occasion. Breakfast was not included. Our room faced the courtyard and was quiet, slept with windows open . Hotel was close to subway and a 10-15 minute walk to train station. Not an upscale neighborhood but felt save walking around at night.
close to Metro station
hotel location
Nice place to stay close to Termini
Very cute, quaint, little place to stay. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. Gives you the true Italian hotel experience. Would definitely stay here again.
Nice hotel, bad location
Everything was good with this hotel, the staff was friendly and helpfull, the room was clean and quiet, the shower was much bigger than in any other hotel at the same price. The only thing that we didn't like was its location in a less charming neighborhood. Although I felt safe walking at night with my boyfriend, I think I would have been less confident alone. We heard it was not supposed to be dangerous though...
The neighbourhood is doggy. Lots of trash on sidewalk. Other than that, everything else was good. Room was newly renovated. Double glazed window effectively shut out noise from street and trains. Very helpful receptionist. Plenty of food choices within walking distance.
I would stay again
The hotel staff was excellent. We dont speak Italian but they were able to tell us where to catch a bus..things to see etc. Close to train. we walked to many of the sights. City map she gave us was very helpful. Thanks so much
Decent rooms
Handy location near Termini, with decent, comfortable, clean rooms. Reception a bit frosty despite efforts at Italian (or maybe because of?) The housekeeper was very pleasant though.
Nice hotel
Great location. Down the street from train and bus transportation, nearby grocery story, and great restaurant a few block away. Best gelato in town is only a few steps away.
Good location
Only a few blocks from Termini station and 1-1/2 blocks from a metro station (Vittorio Emanuele) if you don't feel like walking or it's raining. Staff was very welcoming. If you are taking the first metro in the morning, it's easier to walk to Termini. Vitt. Emanuele stain opens at 5:30 AM, but first truing doesn't arrive until about 5:50.
great little place
Excellent service, convenient to termini, very very friendly and helpful staff,
Excellent Clean Convenience
Very friendly bi-lingual staff. Very accommodating. The room was very clean. Would stay again when visiting Rome. Close to metro and or a 15 minute walk to the Tirmini Station. Challenging to find if your not familiar with Rome. Worth the challenge. Hotel Moscatello is a great place to stay.
Great stay for the price
We were impressed with the great service here. Their staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location close to the train station. The rooms were nice, although we didn't get the A/C go work during our stay.
Hotel Moscatello | Hotel in Rome | Travala.com
Property staff is not accomudating and even we paid ad for the visit and our fligh is late aleady inform Property and as we reached there he couldn't open the hotel door even not receiving the call it was really terrible visit
