We enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and clean. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. There was on site dining which we enjoyed and were able to enjoy dining options on Victoria Street a short walk away. Highlights in central city were easy accessible with a short walk. Would definitely consider staying here again.

Very friendly staff!

The staff were so helpful and friendly when we arrived! The room was large and comfortable with a small kitchen. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean and great water pressure. We loved how quiet it was and convenient to everything.

We loved our room. Everyone was friendly and helpful. It was a great location to walk around and explore Christchurch. We enjoyed having a bar and restaurant in the hotel. When the dryer wouldn't work in our room, the hotel took our clothes and dried and returned them. It was really above and beyond.

Excellent hotel close to town

This is a wonderful hotel with very comfortable rooms. We loved our balcony and sitting area. What a lovely comfortable bed as well. Close to town and tram routes. Helpful staff. Restaurant in hotel plus room service if required. Loved it. One minor thing, please give us mugs in the rooms as the cups are tiny. Brilliant thank you.

Really enjoyable stay at Hotel Montreal. The rooms are large and well furnished- especially being so close to the city centre. The staff all deserve special mention- literally every person we spoke to was helpful, warm and kind. One of our favourite hotels on a 2 month trip.

Great hotel.

Breakfast is way too expensive so we didn’t have it, otherwise we would have breakfast. Room was good but some stale smells was lingering, maybe because of the carpet. Staff was great and e-bike option was great

Junior suite: Very nice bed with ironed sheets. Warm floor and double sinks in bath. Other conveniences include lighted closets, a safe, good Wi-Fi, kitchen and balcony. Wonderful bar and restaurant on the premises. Staff was fabulous. Laundry facilities were the only thing we missed. Highly recommend.

Special thanks to Gin (reception) who helped with dinner recommendation and reservation at Tutto Bene and Patrick at the restaurant who welcomed and looked after us during breakfast. If I visit Christchurch I will definitely return to Hotel Montreal.

Amazing Churchill hotel

Here’s the deal. I spend over 200+ nights in hotels a year. Marriotts are my go to. This hotel was one of the finest places I’ve ever stayed in. I would serious choose this over a Four Seasons. Beyond clean, plenty of room, remodeled. Didn’t mention the heated bathroom floor? Staff from checkin to the bar were amazing.

This was a really positive experience. Room was lovely and it was very satisfying to be welcomed with my two little dogs. The whole experience made me feel I would definitely return. Staff, room and surroundings were first class.

Music from the bar area kept us awake on the first night. No milk left on second day. Bed was comfortable. Water pressure in shower was poor.

A Little Gem in Christchurch!

Super-friendly service. My flight was late and I arrived at 4am and was warmly greeted. My 3.30am departure received the same friendly service. The room was spacious and comfortable. I was delighted with the quality of the food in the Polo restaurant!

Great hotel, big rooms all at high standard, even got heated floors in bathroom which was very nice! Only negative is that there is construction currently happening next door which makes for an early morning start, also road outside can be fairly busy, would pick an inside room next time but definitely coming back

Had a wonderful stay. Hotel was very quaint and quiet. They went out of their way to be cordial and nice. They were really thoughtful and helped me celebrate my daughter's 12th birthday. Everyone was so very nice! Would definitely stay here again on our return to Christchurch.

The room and the ammenities are lovely! Bed super comfy. The only let down was the check in the girl couldn’t be bothered. There is only chips and light food after 10pm when we arrived. Lucky for Uber eats! The hotel is nice though would recommend

The staff at this hotel are great. But, it is beyond our comprehension how this hotel can call itself 5 star. And, the “superb” reviews also surprise us. We were given an upgrade because our shuttle never came to get us at the train station. We were grateful for the consideration. The night desk person put us in a room that was heavily fragranced and also had a chair with stains on it and old furniture. When we moved to another room, it was better, but in no way 5 star! We typically stay in 5 star hotels, so know what that grade of hotel looks like. At best, this hotel is a “3..”. It does have some of the amenities of a 5 star hotel, but that is where the comparison ends. The fixtures are low end. The furniture in our room had a cheap and distressed table. The bed was very comfortable and cozy. There was industrial carpeting in the room and it clearly wasn’t built to be a hotel room. I learned this building used to be an apartment building. The bathroom has inaccessible electrical outlets. My husband had to get on his hands and knees and then “climb” into a cabinet shelf to find the single electrical outlet in the bathroom! Astonishing. If a person is elderly or even has short arms they would not be able to plug in a hair dryer! And the rooms are awkward, architecturally weird. On the positive side, the room was clean, the T.V.s new, the beds very comfortable, and the room was clean. Please stop spraying the room with fragrance for those with allergies.

Centrally located, at a walking distance from most of Christchurch points of interest. Very spacious rooms and a super attentive personnel.

Decent stay

The only reason I stayed here is because it’s walking distance to the casino. Other than that, area is considered remote as there’s no nearby shopping mall or market.

Loved the room setup, balcony and being in a room where fresh air can be let in. Loved the ‘treats’ - nice tea and coffee, shower products.

The entire staff from reception to dining were very professional and friendly. Our room was lovely with two minor niggles. There needs to be plug in bathroom for hairdryer. Useless in kitchen with no mirror. And kettle cord needs to be longer. Hard to attach to an outlet.

Perfect for families with excellent family suites that are very large and clean, with a great bathroom and kitchen and probably the most comfortable hotel bed we have ever slept in. Close to the gardens and Parks, restaurants and the city center.

Gorgeous hotel - by far the best quality and service in CHCH

Bedding was so luxurious and comfy the room was relaxing quiet and peaceful, love the Easter treats we got and thanks for mentioning our wedding anniversary, can’t wait to come and stay again soon!!!

Spacious and contemporary

Had a great stay with spacious room, modern furniture and facilities including free use of iPad which was a nice touch. We were given though a room for handicapped which made the shower area tricky (easy for the water to spill/splash out of the shower). We didn't bother changing rooms as we had already unpacked. Still, with the great service and furniture/interior design, it was a good choice.

Check in and staff were excellent. Hotel could do with thicker double glazing to keep out noise.

Nicely decorated hotel, room was large, comfy and clean with a luxurious feel. Hotel receptionist was nice although her colleague who asked me for ID whilst I was talking to the other receptionist and struggling with a large bag, could have been a bit more polite/patient. The hotel was lovely and in a good central location however i stuggled at what I got for the price compared to another place we had stayed in the city a week before which was half the rate and just as nice. For the price of the room and with a luxury type branding it would have been nice for someone to help us with our large bags. We couldn’t get laundry done in house (noted it was a Sunday), breakfast wasn’t included so we went to a nice cafe a walk down the road, which was cheaper. The room was ground floor and the large windows were faced by cars parked in the car park about 2 meters from the glass. We were woken at 7:45am by noisy building work next door, ok so it’s christchurch and I suppose building work is a priority at the moment but still, the noise was pretty loud in the room and got us up earlier than we had hoped. As I say, a lovely interior to this hotel, beautifully decorated with some nice touches in the rooms but just expected a bit more for the price of the place.

Chose your room carefully. It’s a wonderful place

Our room was over the back patio. Therefore we heard all of the bar/restaurant noise. I thought the laughter was fine for a couple of nights. However, occasionally we would get wafts of cigarette smoke. I don’t ask to move. But if you think that might bother you, ask for a room away from the patio. It was a lovely room and much needed luxury, almost as good as home

Staff were welcoming, helpful and went out of there way to ensure we had everything we needed. We we're in a Family Suite and it was excellent. Plenty of room, great facilities in there and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast and happy with both meals. Great Tapas!!

This hotel is definitely not 5 star. Simple things were missing such as slippers and laundry bags from the room.

Very large rooms that are newly renovated.

Hotel Montreal has been newly renovated in the inside. The rooms are very large, comfortable and clean. The restaurant is cozy with a fire place. I would have liked to see more of a vegetarian and vegan selection, but other than that it was fantastic. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was very central with free parking, The outside of the hotel needs to be refurbished, but it inside is just beautiful. I will definitely be staying again.

Very nice but too expensive

Not sure the value for money was equal. It was too expensive for what it was however the rooms were very clean and bed was comfortable. Located close to parks, the casino and other dining options. Even though it was nice, I wouldn’t stay again because of the cost.
