Lovely stay
Very good value hotel with a family run feel. Convenient location in walking distance to all the sights. Could maybe do with a lick of paint here and there, and maybe replace broken stuff like sinks, but I feel I got what Germans call a good Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. The breakfast on the terrace is lovely and all the staff are friendly and helpful.
Location is great! Very walkable to lots of must see sights. The hotel staff from front desk to the server at breakfast were really friendly and helpful. I would say the rooms are a little small and the layout is kind of wacky but if you don’t plan to stay inside your room all day long then you are fine. There is a bar and multiple sitting area.
This hotel charged a huge rate for a terrible room that wasn't reflective of the photo's it showed on Expedia. The towels were threadbare, the pillows were FLAT and worn out and the mattress was hard as a rock. The water in the shower was barely warm and the room looked out at a wall and hard garbage trucks come by at 7am each morning. Location is good. It's NOT a 4 star hotel!!! Expedia doesn't care that the place misrepresents its rooms!!!
Good size rooms and nice staff
Visited Rome with my mother and I for a few days. We appreciated the location of the hotel--a little off the beaten path, near the bridge towards Trastevere and within walking distance of Piazza Navona, Pantheon etc (about 10 mins) and cute shopping areas. The staff were generally very nice and welcoming, although a bit cold at first. The room was very clean and the housekeeping was very detailed. Our room was a good size esp for Rome--but an awkward configuration- the bed jammed into a corner and tough to get around the bed without having to climb over it ? I had to pick up my very heavy suitcase and slide it across the bed to get it to the other side. The a/c didn't seem to work (maybe it was me?) but air circulation wasn't great. The breakfast was good, very good options for sweet and savory and the staff were super! I liked the hotel, good sized rooms and nice staff but overall value at that price was a little lacking for me and not a lot of details.
Paolo the concierge gave us excellent restaurant suggestion and touring advice
The rooms were so comfortable and the rooftop was amazing. The staff was incredibly helpful with helping to book transportation when we needed it and had wonderful recommendations during our stay. We enjoyed our time there very much.
Staff were great & very helpful.............please check your shower floor pans, they become VERY slippery when using soap, shampoo & conditioner gets on floor
The place is very well located near vatican and important points for tourists. The room is confortable and clean. Parking is too difficult, and the day you arrive, if early, find a place to take coffee because lobby is very small. Otherwise, I liked.
Great service and location
Great location, clean, updated rooms. Walkable to all the major sites: Colleseum, Pantheon, Trevi, Trastevere and Vatican.
This hotel is in a fantastic location and most attractions are withn walking distance. There are many great restaurants close by. The staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. The included breakfust was very good with many options. The room was charming, clean and very quiet. The air conditioning was perfect. This is a great choice in rome.
Loved the location. Pretty close to everything but actually on a quiet street. Room was fine. We would have liked a larger one but none was available when we booked. Very clean. Staff very helpful. They have a lovely rooftop bar for breakfast but the breakfast got a little tiring. Also several from my family went up to the rooftop bar at night when it was supposed to be open but it wasn’t. So that entered into this review. All in all a very nice place to stay.
Wonderful staff!
Overall, nice hotel, but we had some issue with the reservation by credit card suppose to pay at the property but they had already take the whole amount on the credit card, very disapointed. July 5 2024
Great hotel and friendly and accommodating staff. Excellent location. Lovely rooftop bar/breakfast area. The breakfast buffet was good but not outstanding. My biggest issue is that because there is older stone flooring, no carpets and rooms are all in close proximity around the elevator, it is very noisy both until late at night and beginning again early in the morning. Overall, we had an excellent stay at the Hotel Monte acenci.
Friendly staff. I was also impressed by how hard working the staff are. The hotel felt like being at home to me. We spent a week staying here. Now there isn't much to do within a few blocks of this hotel but it is very easy to walk all over the tourist areas of Rome from here (or to mix using a taxi and walking). Avoid going to any restaurants that have pictures of the food on signs outside. They are selling low quality 'tourist' food & you will be disappointed!
A fantastic hotel with wonderful staff and so convenient to all the sites etc . We would highly recommend.
The staff were great - all of them. Our rooms a/c went out and they fixed the problem promptly. This is a sweet boutique hotel next to the tiger river and restaurants, bars and shopping near the Jewish Ghetto. Very easy to get around and see the sites. We would staff again.
There is one BIG problem with this hotel, which is otherwise clean and well-run: You could be assigned a room below street level which means you have to leave the small window closed and feel like you’re staying in a dark windowless room. When I asked for a different room I was told there weren’t any, even it showed availability online. What’s deceptive is that since the hotel is on a slope, you can take the elevator up one level and still be below the street above. I had prepaid the room and didn’t have any option but to stay so avoided going back to the room as much as possible.
Location great
Passing by cute hotel, i only stayed 2 nights.
Had a great stay.
Great location. Great service. Nice rooftop bar to enjoy cocktails before the evening starts.
Beware….
The stay was not great. We were upgraded upon arrival to a room that had a bathtub. Later in the evening when we went to use the tub there was no hot water. They sent someone up that attempted to tell us that the water wasn’t hot but it wasn’t cold. I guess that was an attempt at doing there best. Needless to say, the second night was only worse. Additionally, the shower was located in a space with no ventilation so steam collected on the ceiling. Whe. You look up there a brown color all over the ceiling. I don’t wanna assume what it was but it certainly needed to be fixed. Also, the light switch for the toilet room did not work and we were using the bathroom in the dark. Also, the diverter on the tub faucet was missing the knob so the shower handle could not be used. When I addressed this with the front desk, he apologized and did nothing to accommodate our stay. I would not stay here again….
Good location. Nice property - rooms were larger than expected. The breakfast on the terrace is not to be missed! But the very best part of the hotel was the staff - in particular Cecilia who greeted us on arrival and was a daily resource for our stay at the Monte Cenci. I would highly recommend this hotel and plan to use it again on our next trip to Rome.
Fantastic Hotel!
Very central hotel with wonderful friendly staff - nothing was too much trouble, we will definitely be back!
First time in Rome and happy.
Hotel Monte Cenci is a wonderful boutique hotel. We found it conveniently situated and easy to get to all the landmarks without being in the middle of everything and the crowds. What we especially liked was that one of Rome's many free water stations is located just outside the front door. The service at the desk was friendly for us first timers asking silly questions, the staff preparing the wonderful breakfasts were so accommodating and the rooftop area was a wonderful spot to wind down after our overfull days of sightseeing. We would recommend this hotel and stay there again.
Great Hotel, Great Rooms, Great staff. Great Breakfast. Stay here. You won't be disappointed.
Don't stay in the 1st floor
Some floor and rooms of the hotel seems to be nice but we were on the first floor and the room had water stain on the ceiling and paint peeling off the walls. The window was also at street level and the room was dark. The bathroom was renovated and very nice. The personal of the hotel were very noce and the hotel is well located.
We travelled to Rome on vacation and spent two nights at this boutique hotel. The location was great for us - very central and in walking distance to some of the famous sites. The facility and the rooms were clean, trendy and maintained with care. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate requests and appear to take a genuine interest in giving their guests a positive experience. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome
We were here for three nights in May. First, the AC worked very well in our room. The room was clean when we arrived and was cleaned daily. All the hotel personnel we interacted with were wonderful and very helpful. We found the area convenient without the expected noise in a big city with plenty of dining options nearby. Our only complaint would be to repaint the scuffs on the walls in the room where luggage had rubbed up against it.
excellent staff service , clean and very walkable to everything I need to see!
We loved our stay. It’s the perfect central Location to be able to walk and do everything we wanted to do. The staff was so wonderful and helpful for ideas, reservations and just fun to talk to!! We highly recommend and would stay there again.
We loved our stay. Four nights in May. Walked all over Rome and hit most all of the iconic sites.
This is a great boutique hotel in a quiet location, very walkable to many areas of Rome. It was right by the Tiber River, and we felt at home the minute we walked in. The property has a great rooftop terrace where we enjoyed breakfast each morning. The hotel staff was very helpful throughout our stay as well. Highly recommend!
The property was clean and staff very helpful. The decor was somewhat basic and could do with an upgrade (our bedroom door frame seemed to be very damaged?) . Location was very good for sights, restaurants etc.
The staff was very helpful Room nice and very functional Great location
Very clean. Nice breakfast and good location. Walking distance to major tourist attractions.
We had a great stay for 3 nights in Rome at Hotel Monte Cenci. The location was fantastic. For those that are looking to be close to everything but also stay in somewhere a bit quieter this is the spot. You are about 10-15 mins to all the major sites, but right across the river from Trastavere for the best dinner spots. The staff was friendly and helpful, and our favourite meal was from their recommendations. Our room was a little smaller than expected, but by European standards the bathroom was great including the rain head shower and everything was clean and well kept.
Location was excellent. All major monuments were within walking distance. Restaurants and nightlife just over the river in Trastevere. And the best gelateria in Rome … Alberto Pica … only 2 minutes away!
A very nice breakfast was included. We arrived early in the morning and were giving coffee and croissants. Our room was upgraded. The area is very quiet and the rooftop terrace is lovely. The location is perfect! So walkable to Trastevere as well as the historic center and lots of food options. Also minutes walking to the Largo Argentina where you can find a bus to anywhere in Rome. The hotel arranged for a car to pick us up at the cruise ship terminal as well as to the airport at the end of our stay. If you need a lot of English language TV in your room, you won't find it. But you are not in Rome to watch TV. I would stay here again.
Very clean, friendly staff and nice spacious room and bathroom.Wish we could have stayed longer!
Great hotel! Perfect location, large rooms and extremely friendly staff. Highly recommend!
This was a great location. Close to things and yet quiet. Easy to find from anywhere. Close to a lot of restaurants and stores and banks. Beautiful rooftop patio. Nice breakfast in the morning and a bar for drinks. Staff was great!!!!
It was very clean, convenient and friendly staff
Nice location and friendly staff
The hotel was clean and was in a good location. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. From the time of booking until the time we checked out. They always were willing ti help or answer questions. The hotel is not the nicest in Rome, but you can tell they care about their facility and their patrons. The rooms are small, but that is common in Europe. There was plenty of storage for clothing. We stayed 10 days and had ample room for clothing. The beds were average, not too hard, not tok soft. Breakfast was simple, but delicious. The location is unbeatable. You're about a 5 minute walk from the main road in Trestevere, where most of the best food and night life is located. 8 minutes from Largo Argentina and right near the heart of the Jewish Ghetto. We purchased the 7 day bus pass and we were able to hop on easily with usually less that a 10 minute walk to the bus stop. If we return to Rome, I would stay here again!
This was a comfortable, clean and welcoming hotel. It was modern with a classic look. It was located in an ideal location, walkable to anywhere and 1 block from a convenient bus stop. The staff— from the front desk, to the dining room, to the porters— were friendly & helpful. The front desk staff provided helpful maps, itinerary suggestions & restaurant recommendations as well.
AMAZING STAFF, Hotel and location
The room I thought I was booking by the pictures was NOTHING like it!! Our room was the worst room I ever stayed in and definitely not worth the money!! Elevator didn’t work and when checking out no help with our bags we had to take them down flights of steps our self. Terrible!
The location was amazing and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff especially were always very pleasant and easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Nicely located property in the center of Rome with friendly and courteous staff. The upkeep of the public areas could be better and the breakfast tends to be a bit limited as well. Not unusual for Italy though. All in all a good option if you want to be within walking distance of the main attractions and Trastevere quarter for dining and going out.
This property was just OK- I had a major problem with getting 2 nights credited back to me as we had to cut our stay short 2 nights- I WENT ROUND AND ROUND WITH THE HOTEL VIA EMAIL AND THEY NEVER SATISFIED ME- THEY WERE REALLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE
Staff was wonderful and so accommodating. It’s in a great location for those walking to everything in the city. Beautiful lobby. My only 2 notes was that 1) the buzzing to get into your room with the keycard was wildly loud and seemed unnecessary - also rude for neighboring rooms still sleeping. 2) the bathroom wall was thin. I could hear the other room using the restroom… but those are small notes. I would recommend this hotel!
Beautiful hotel with friendly staff and comfy beds.
Lovely hotel in a quiet location. Short walk to local attractions, bus stop and River Tiber. Would have liked a better selection of hot items at breakfast. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed our stay overall at this hotel. While not perfect, that staff is friendly and very helpful. They will go above and beyond to fill your needs. The room itself was nice but a little run down, they have a USB port near the bed to charge your devices if you don't have the three prong adapter. You will need to have a three prong adapter if you are not from Italy for these rooms just FYI. The room was cleaned daily. The towels had a bit of a sour smell and the glassware looked a little lacking in cleanliness. The view is an alleyway and early morning it is very noisy. The AC in the room does not work like a US AC, it's either on or off and there was no noticeable airflow. This is an old building keep in mind. The breakfast was just enough and perfect for American Travelers. They will make you fresh Espresso! Also breakfast doesn't start until 7 a.m. so keep that in mind when booking tours if you want to get breakfast before you head out. Overall I would say this hotel is a cute boutique hotel. Location is very good with every tourist destination within 1 mile of walking distance. There are tons of good restaurants across the bridge in Traveste, not so many near the hotel but there is grocery market on the same street as the hotel. For the location and value, I would stay here again.
Nice hotel only issue was no A/C
The staff is excellent. Very efficient in service and accomodations. They even offered to get kosher breakfast for my wife, at no expensive, just a simple kind gesture. Rooms were clean and tidy. The location is right by the historic Jewish ghetto and several other great attractions.
Convienently located. Very nice staff. The room was clean and comfortable.
Not exactly in a normal city shopping area. Definitely not tourist shopping. A quiet and business like location. Close enough by Uber to major sites. Room was nice. Breakfast was very good.
Well appointed property with really accommodating, pleasant staff. Breakfast is the same daily - was hoping for something different after three days. Booked a superior room which did not have a plush chair or couch, however it was comfortable with a very nice bathroom. Located in a back street, convenient for sightseeing and within walking distance of restaurants, bars etc.
My son and I really enjoyed our stay here. The entire staff were kind and exceptionally helpful from the moment we checked it to when we checked out (6 days). The room was cozy and clean. The breakfast was lovely. Highly recommend this charming hotel! We would definitely stay there again!
Hotel Monte Cenci is a great location within a 10-15 minute walk to nearly all the sights! Hotel was super clean, and the breakfast was great. Staff were wonderful! If we ever get back to Rome, we will stay here again.
Fantastic service throughout the 3 nights that we stayed with our family. Breakfast was good Beds were comfortable The only downside was the air conditioning. Luckly it wasn’t too hot or too cold so we didn't say anything in the end. Thank you!
Great hotel within easy walking distance of the pantheon
Five star Rome hotel
Hotel Monte Cenci is located in the old Jewish neighborhood. Beautiful hotel and guest services was very good. Front desk service gave us great restaurant recommendations and car service. The hotel is close the Tiber river and many historical attractions.
Lovely hotel, very friendly staff. Excellent place to stay
One of the good properties in the central old Rome Pros: Smell from bathroom drain Rooms not heated for winter season Cons: One of the best customer service Great location
The location is ideal. Absolutely central and walkable to everything you want to see but in a quiet pocket without throngs of tourists right outside your door. Restaurants from very good to AMAZING within blocks. The staff was so very, very helpful. We actually had a problem with the AC in our first room and they made a swift resolution, providing help to move us to another room. Super helpful with directions - not just how to get somewhere but also what to see along the way. Made dinner reservations for us over the phone since we had no Italian ourselves. Made sure we had umbrellas when we went out (the weather was very changeable while we were there). Breakfast on the roof was just lovely - we don't usually eat breakfast but we did so each day because the food, setting and service were so nice. Comfy beds and pillows.
amazing location! walk to main Rome attractions!!
I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Monte Cenci! The staff was very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this place for your stay in Rome.
Awesome
Excellent location , service , very comfortable bed. Will be back
The room was very clean as well as the hotel. The staff was unbelievably helpful for ALL our needs. I highly recommend this hotel!! Grazie!!
Perfect location for visiting historical sites and eat in non tourist restaurants across the bridge! Friendly staff and very clean hotel!
We were unaware when we booked this hotel that there was only 4 hour street parking available, so ended up taking the rental car back to the airport before checking in. Bartender did not know how to mix a cocktail. Room was so small. Hotel heeded a bit of an update, it was poor quality for a 4 star hotel.
Mixed review
Staff was very good and location was central. Room 403 has a very difficult layout but other rooms are very nice and beds are quite comfortable. The major issue is room maintenance. For the price point of this hotel I would have expected much better. Paint is chipped and worn, lights do not function, closet doors are not level, shelving in bathroom is missing, chair furniture is worn and braiding is detached from upholstery, etc.
Paolo and the staff were amazing and very helpful for meals and other tips! Great spot- loves breakfast and drinks on the rooftop. Would definitely stay again.
Amazing new updated hotel with a great location!
helpful staff and great location. nice rooms...only wish there was a pool
very small and discombobulated lay out
small rooms, no restaurant, The room was so small the i count move easily
Very nice hotel great staff and convenient location
This hotel is in the old centre near the Jewish ghetto. There are lots of restaurants in the area which is very interesting to walk around. Breakfast is served in the rooftop terrace with a good selection of food. The room was small but comfortable and there is a lift. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I loved being in walking distance of the best sights of Rome and would happily stay here again.
VERY hospitable staff. Highlighted best walking routes and food. Very clean. Quiet. Everything within 30 - 40 min walking distance.
was disapointed with non working air con..in 100 degrees not fun.. layout of room very odd could be much better arranged
Great breakfast area. Nice rooms. Great bar. Okay location.
Great, comfortable boutique hotel. The rooftop was nice and the included breakfast came with an espresso beverage or your choice. Super convenient to the Trastavere neighborhood that had incredible food and nightlife options. Also close to the key Roman attractions. The room was comfortable and clean. Pillows were a little flat.
The staff, location simply wonderful
Hotel and rooms are soooo clean and quiet. Easy access to everything. There’s lots to eat in the area. The service from the staff was great too.
Great hotel with a fabulous staff! The people at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. Do not expect to checkin early but they will allow you to store your luggage until your room is ready. Our room had great A/C and the bed was comfortable with soft linens. Perfect place to stay and unwind after a long day in Rome. Bartender was also friendly and they have many options on their cocktail list. Definitely recommend.
The staff went above a beyond to help us. From walking maps to dinner reservations
A/C not working. Hot summer days
GOOD...Great small hotel... Tasteful decor.. Wonderful staff NOT SO GOOD.....Door to room needs a gasket at the bottom to stop noise from corridor and rattling!
Little gem…
Lovely modern hotel in great location by the river. Easily accessible and not near many tourists. Staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend.
Great stay
Everyone here was very friendly and helpful. We loved our stay! Great staff, lovely room, great shower. The location worked very well for us. Will definitely return
Everything is walkable and hotel away from the madness of tourist areas. Good eating options close by. Staff very welcoming and helpful.
The hotel is located near coliseum lots of restaurants to eat the breakfast was amazing. Paolo and all his staff were wonderful I will definitely come back there.
Anazin location, noisy during weekdays
Amazing location in Rome but now a days very noisy during the weekdays because a demodulation that is going on tight in front of the hotel.

Hotel Monte Cenci is an absolute gem! The staff is amazing—friendly, attentive, and always ready to help, making the stay truly memorable. Their breakfast is out of this world—absolutely delicious and a perfect way to start the day! The location is unbeatable, with all the major monuments within walking distance, making it incredibly convenient to explore the city. The hotel itself is charming, comfortable, and provides a peaceful retreat after a day of sightseeing. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Rome!
