Do not recommend
The hotel was disgusting, dirty and the staff were not interested or helpful. There were flies and bugs in the bathroom every day. The bathroom was covered in black mould and peeling paint.
Refurbished section of the hotel is great
We were initially booked in the old part of the hotel but eventually moved to the beautiful refurbished section.
It’s a very basic and tired hotel. Lady was very nice at check in. Somewhere fine to put your head if you’re out all day sightseeing
Would stay again
Unfortunately the hotel was undergoing some renovation, so one of the lifts was out of action and also the air conditioning. As it was about 28° when we stayed it did mean the room was extremely hot. Although a fan was brought in to the room on our last night. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was brilliant and the staff were very helpful. The hotel is situated on a bit of a downmarket side street, but in a great area. I would stay here again
Centrally located with excellent breakfast
First night our room was under construction so they had us spend a night at hotel next door(was way worse rated hotel). But after that initial issue, it was the perfect stay, the breakfast was excellent, room was big(our bathroom was bigger than the entire room that first night). It is also very centrally located and has a bunch of good places to eat nearby. Try the creperie on the corner. Note: there is a homeless man with mental issues living on the street so I wouldn’t recommend this for single women
The hotel should not be in the list that Orbitz provides I even took pics of the conditions of your interested. One elevator fit 2 people and no bags . Construction going in , no balcony views couldn’t open the windows the views were construction , they offered to change room for us and the 2 they offers were worse than the room we decided to endure !! The only thing that made the stay was the breakfast and 2 people in staff who were very nice couple of others not so nice . We use orbitz a lot I was surprised they obviously didn’t let you know it was under construction . And front view pics of the hotel are nothing like what it looks like at all . Back ally hotel with homeless person living on the street next to the entrance
Construction outside our window
The hotel was fine and the service was good however the hotel was under construction right outside our room with workers looking pretty much through our window during the day, outside the window it was full of building materials, and all we heard in the morning was construction. It was very hot and the ac didn’t work when I asked about it the reception said it would not be able to turn on and that we would need to open the windows however we were unable to due to the fact there was a construction site outside our window.
Charming Hotel In the Middle of Remodeling
Very charming hotel. Check-in was easy. I was allowed to store my luggage before the room was ready. Check-in was at 2pm, but I got my room sooner than that. I was initially given a room that a guest was already using (OOPS!), but it was corrected very quickly. The shower door wouldn't close without "muscling it", and reopening it was just as troublesome. (Maintenance could not repair it.) The climate control was off, requiring you to open windows because the room tended to get too stuffy. (The hotel had all the HVAC units off because it wasn't needed at this time of year.) The windows have no screens, so flying bugs or birds could come in. There was remodeling going on at the time I was there, and the stairs were in the construction area. To go even 1 floor, you had to wait for the elevator (which was TINY but worked). Breakfast was included in my stay, and it was OK. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They did their best to make my stay enjoyable in spite of the room issues. Again, because there was remodeling going on, I believe that when all the rooms are finished, this hotel will not only keep its charm, but will also be more comfortable. If this hotel is available for my next stay in Paris, I will definitely stay here again.
Found old half eaten pastries in the draws of the bedroom, plus half eaten chocolate bars from previous guests, pillows had stains on them and under the bed was like dust central apart from that it was an okay stay.
The hotel is completely different from the pictures, very unsafe area, the room was very old and dated, not a very good impression, one thing that was really good was the breakfast, a good variety of food. overall was just ok, but i don't think I would chosse that hotel again.
The reception and restaurant areas were spotless. The staircase and halls were very grubby and tired. The room was the largest I have ever stayed in, in Paris. Very comfortable bed and lovely shower. The staff were very helpful and friendly. A great location. I will absolutely stay here again.
Cheap and Cheerful
We wanted somewhere cheap and fairly central for one night. It was close to lots of places to eat and drink and close to metro station. The rooms were small and the bathroom very compact so we would’ve struggled with longer than 1 night. The beds were pretty comfy and it was nice to have a fridge with water. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on this. It was pretty noisy at night with inconsiderate guests and noise from the street. I was glad I had ear plugs.
The photos make the hotel look in a better condition than it actually is. It is a comfortable and clean hotel, but the rooms are in need of fresh decor. It's a good base for exploring Paris, if you don't want to spend too much time in your room.
We stayed at Hotel Mondial for 6 nights from 15th to 21st of Dec. The weather in Paris is not too gloomy for winter, with couple of days of sunshine. The hotel is right on Rue Montmartre and therefore quite convenient, in the middle of all landmarks of Paris. The Sacred Coeur, the Artist area on Place du Tertre, The Notre Dame, Shakespeare and Company, Jardin de Luxemburg, etc are all within walking distances, about one mile away, more or less. The hotel is next to restaurants, supermarkets, Metro, etc...The staff are really helpful. They also arranged for a taxi to come pick us up and take us to Orly Airport at 4 am for ̀̀55 euros, which is very reasonable. We loved the free coffee, tea, cakes and chocolate candies in the reception hall. Thanks for everything.
The location is excellent!! Close on foot to everything! The lobby was cool and festive and service was great!! We had a problem with our shower not draining the first morning, we let the front desk know and they were quick to move us to another room with no further issues!! When I go back to Paris, I will definitely stay here again!!
Central air is not working in my room, bed is not comfort, price is good, it also provides free pastry at the lobby. people are very nice. Overall not bad for the price.
Great location, walking distance to most attractions with metro 150m from the hotel. Staff very friendly, food wise no vegetables available or fruits to have for breakfast, bathroom would do with upgrade as shower hose was leaking a lot and sink very high so hard for kids to wash hands independently. Very hot room even when heating is off so not too comfortable nights.
staff was pleasant . carpet in main entrance and room was dirty and smelled like mildewed. rooms very small , my guest and i had to move around side ways in the room.no room for luggage and people. telephone did not work , requested a service call , request never granted . sleep disturbance due to loud noises from other surroundings guest reported loud noise were told they couldn’t control the noise. old , outdated facility and amenities .
The hotel was acceptable. Nice lobby and reception. Rooms, hallways and carpets all very tired. Street and surrounds quite dirty and felt unsafe.
Good Unsafe Area
Probably the worst 3 star hotel I've stayed, thank god I had the biggest room so was decent. The road to the hotel is disgusting and dirty (Kind of unsafe). Hotel was fine though.
Very nice location, quiet area. The hotel is not located on a busy street but within a little pedestrian street with other hotels. Needs some love and is getting old, but very clean and again location is everything.
Affordable and cozy
Good room and cozy. Great and varied breakfast. Only 18 min walk from Gard de Nord. Staff friendly. My only complain was that I could not lower the temperature in my room despite my 4 requests to front desk (it was very Kate and they didn’t have anyone to take a look). Room temp was set at 19° C but it felt like 23+. I believe I was expected to leave window open but anyone on the outer stairs could access my room.
Breakfast was good. Sofa bed was making noise.
Perfect for city holiday
Nice area.
We had good time.
Basic but fine
A nice hotel in a good location. It covers all the basics without being too fancy. It probably needs a bit of a refresh as hallway areas are looking a bit tired but nothing terrible. We used it as a base as we knew we would be out and about all day and it ticked the box for that. If you are looking for high quality luxury then this isn’t the place for you but it is priced for what you get. We would come back.
I do NOT recommend this place. Homeless around. Property is in disrepair but photos don’t reflect it. My shower got flooded and staff did nothing. TV didn’t work. STAY AWAY!!
Hotel shabby and in urgent need of refresh. En-suite not maintained to standard of cleanliness expected.
Convenient
The hotel was generally ok. A little worn out in places. The air conditioning in the rooms didn’t work. The rooms were clean and staff at reception were helpful.
Great location, kind staff, the property could use better maintenance and better cleaning.
Recommended! מומלץ
Initially we chose the hotel because of the price, we discovered that the hotel is located right next to a metro station and a major transportation artery, and most importantly - we were very surprised to find that the hotel is in a happy and lively area, full of restaurants and bars, very charming.
Excellent and friendly staff, they even have free Madeline and croissants by the reception desk.
The property was okay if you were looking for somewhere to just sleep. The hotel was walking distance to the metro and a few restaurant. Property is distance away from main attraction. You will need a taxi ride to get to the main area/ tourist view.
Carpet thru out facility nasty and very dirty. Area around building dirty. Rooms extremely small with dirty carpet. Bathrooms were renovated, but extremely small. Shower was like a cruise ship shower. Furniture in rooms needed to be replaced. No iron. Not a full Breakfast. Same items everyday. No fruits. Great Coffee! Housekeeping daily. Bed slept well. Was not worth the cost. If you want overall comfort; do not use this one.
Property does not looked nice area around the hotel is dirty. AC did not worked in the first room we got. They changed us to another room.
Great that the hotel is just off the road so not that noisy. Staff very friendly & accommodating. Good location for getting to the sites
Property is in a small enclave, with 3 other (smarter-looking) hotels. Exterior is passable. Interior ground floor lobby and dining area is well presented, welcoming, and clean. We roomed on the 1st floor. Decor is dated, carpets worn (making them appear grubby), and in our corner of the hotel there was a distinct smoky/burnt odour. The room itself was passable. Carpets wrinkled, decor dated, odourous. Beds comfy and clean. Table had been repaired, held together with screws. Bathroom sink, and bath plugs supposed to push to open and close, but not working so i removed the tops to allow speedier drainage. Sink unit installed in such a way that it rendered the shower screen incapable of opening outwards. Shower head holder unadjustable, so we had to hold the head with one hand while showering. Breakfast area pleasant and welcoming, with good facilities and choice of food. Staff very pleasant, helpful, and engaging.
Stayed 3 nights in a triple room(106), unfortunately for us the air conditioning didn’t work, a room at the front of hotel, windows open due to hot days, the noise from outside all night kept use awake, tv remote didn’t work, sink kept blocking up, mould around bath, probably due to no extractor fan in bathroom, don’t have a shave after showering. Stayed here on our first visit to Paris, 4 years ago and can’t believe how the hotel has gone, it’s a shame. Advise the lady at the desk, hopefully the management sort it out for the next guests.
Great location. Easy walk to the Louvre and Sacre Coeur. Subway stop and restaurants nearby. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room had a safe and mini fridge. I thought the room was expensive for the size and disapointing condition. There was a broken window hinge in the bathroom and the room was a bit run down.
Outdated facilities, worn out carpet… other than that, ok for the price
Located in a cool hip neighborhood. Tenzine the receptionist was superb.
Motel vs hotel
This place is more like run down motel than hotel. The manager needs to take 101 course in hospitality business and customer service for certain lol
Excellent location . Needs carpet replacement. Staff is great
The breakfast was good. The rooms are clean. They changed the towels everyday. The duty receptionist was friendly and helpful. He got us the airport transfer at 4:15am at a reasonable price
Staff really helpful, great location for Grands Boulevards
I had an amazing time at the hotel , the staff was friendly , they help me with directions to the Eiffel tower and the shopping areas , every morning we had breakfast, which was convenient , affordable and delicious, I will definitely stay at this hotel again
Location os great, rooms are comfy, except the one on the ground floor that is lacking in privacy.
Great location
Front staff friendly but we did not get the room we wanted and we decided to stay in the double bed room because the bed was US queen sized. Not enough hangers and electric water heater had water in it. Rugs worn and could be cleaned. Sheets clean. Bathroom had a hair clog which I removed otherwise bathroom was clean. Price a bit steep for what you are getting so you are definitely paying for the excellent location. Lots of restaurants, supermarket accross the street and aubway stations close by.
Would not recommend - potential health hazard
The check in flattered to deceive our stay, along with the outdated/photo shopped pictures on the listing. Mould in the bathrooms, broken TV’s, constant smell of urine in the room, rude & helpful staff resulted in a terrible stay. No manager on duty at the weekends, so no-one available to discuss our issues with. At check out, the reception staff tried to charge us for 2 breakfasts that we didn’t have & refused to give us the managers details so we could contact him directly. I would recommend that Hotels.com make a visit to this property & consider removing it from the site - I wouldn’t recommend this to anybody. A terrible experience all round
The lobby area was beautifully decorated and clean. I love the staircase going all the way to the top. I thought the front desk staff were always very friendly. The breakfast area was inviting and the food was good.
The bathrooms had been updated but the rugs were old and filthy . The staircase was slanting slightly and the rooms were very very small .
The Good: Hotel was close to many stores and centraly located. Staff was very helpful. The Bad: Air conditioner was very weak, it was less powerfull than a table top fan. The full leghth window in the bedroom opened to a communal balcony so i couldn't open it and sleep. Ended up sleeping in a hot room. TV didn't work. hotroom.sleep.room.ct w
Loved the exterior very classic. Nice room. Air conditioning great in hot weather. Towels small and worn.
Great hotel but not all staff spoke English and my French is very basic. The breakfast was good but if you’re gluten free take your own bread from the supermarket across the road. Great local restaurants and near the Metro
It was a decent hotel, nothing fancy but did the trick. Check in was exceptionally slow, although it wasn’t the man’s fault on the desk, the hotel had left him understaffed. Decent budget option in the middle of Paris.
Staff were very accommodating and the location was perfect!
Cute little hotel on a side street. Not a lot of ammenities but it does the trick.
The hotel was perfect for our stay and very reasonably priced compared to other hotels we were looking at in the area. The best feature for the hotel is the location, very close to the the main boulevard for bars and restaurants but just off the main road that you couldn't hear anything.
The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable
Very unprofessional. The room was a walk in closet. Very noisy. Filthy. And the staff hardly spoke English.
A boutique hotel situated in a nice area surrounded by lots of shopping/restaurants and within easy access to public transportation. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The room I had needed a little updating but besides that, everything else was lovely. Overall, I enjoyed the stay.
Rooms were adequate size, nice and clean. TV, fridge, bed was comfy.
The hotel is fine and the location is great but there are few points which I would like the management of the hotel to consider: *The receptionist Mr.Karim is really rude and has manners issue specially with gentlemen. *The room towels, I guess it is time to change all of them
Air conditioning was insufficient for the size room we had. The stairwell was very dirty, carpet needs to be replaced. Breakfast was average but there was not enough to support the number of guests. They ran out of most items very quickly. We were also charged $12 to call a taxi for a ride to the train station. The attendant behind the counter said this was the taxi fare, but when we made it to the station the driver said the hotel does not pay him and he is not employed by them. We were scammed. Would not recommend.
Review of Hotel Mondial
We know Paris like that palm of our hands (since 1960) and love the location of the Hotel Mondial (in the Cite Bergere). The first room (Sept 22-24) was minute. However, after we came back from Tours (Oct. 3-6) we had an excellent room. We plan to stay at the Mondial when we return to Paris next year However, the desk should know that the Carnavalet Museum is closed for renovations and that the Cluny Museum has only 3 rooms open (also renovations) The Monet Water Lilies (Orangerie) should be visited as soon as the museum opens to avoid the crowds.
Best of the hotel online where a stretch... looked way nicer and cozy online definitely not the case when we got there... dingy, A/C didn’t work.
Too worn and dirty
There was an unpleasant odor from the moment we entered the Hotel that the concierge was unable to explain. Looking around, the furniture in the lobby was very old and worn. Upstairs, the carpet and baseboards were filthy and the carpet in our room was tacky to the touch. Not at all what I was expecting, this place could have a lot of charm if it was cleaned up.
The bed was comfortable and the water pressure in the bath was excellent; thou, the night front desk man was very extremely rude, the hotel turn off the air conditioning and this was not mentioned, they expect you to open the windows to a very noise and full of smoke street! Barely could sleep
Excellent location. Our room was huge and clean. Very quiet. Windows opened onto a court yard which was a real treat.
Great location with lots good restaurants near by, easy walk around. Good staff, good breakfast.
Clean, modern and fantastic breakfast! Close to metro. I highly recommend the hotel.
hotel is in a great location, rooms were clean and comfortable
This is the worst hotel I have ever been .. I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone .. The room is very dirty especially the floor ..u won’t be able to step on it with barefoot ..the lavatory is so small and crowded .. the sheets are stained and the table and headboard so dusty like it never been cleaned..I took picture of all of it.. the air conditioning is not working so we told the front desk and they said they can’t do anything about it and just open the window or the patio door but there were flies and mosquitoes.. I ask the guy if that’s how it works but said the handy guy can’t do anything about it , told them it was so hot in the room but didn’t bother to do anything we were so upset so I told him I will give them a very bad review and he said he doesn’t care...we were almost late for our flight because the airport shuttle driver came too late and had to stop in another hotel to pick up passengers and even when we said we were getting late instead of going straight to our terminal 1 he went to terminal 2 drop off other passengers.. the worst experience ever.. front desks not accommodating .. we stayed 3 days and did not take a bath because it was very very dirty. My friend and I rate this hotel 2... and will never stay in hotel mondial Paris ...
lovely hotel. good sized rooms. pleasant and courteous staff. great location
Fabulous location, had the basic requirements, just needed little things like a towel holder, and send your laundry when you want it, not forget. But overall very good
I know it's Paris, but, the room was small especially the bathroom and does not match the impression given by the photos, Other than that the location was great and generally we were pleased with our stay
- We were a group of 6 and required 2 rooms. Our first night one of the rooms the Air-conditioning didn't work well and the bathroom unfortunately had some minor mold. - Front desk staff were great and very accommodating during our stay including moving us on day 2 from the one room - Breakfast is what was expected so Ok with us - rooms are small and so are most bathrooms but everything worked well. - All in all we got what we expected for a 3 star. Don't expect a 4 star as it is not but good for what you pay - Location is very good and in a vibrant area with lots of restaurants and shops. Close to Louvre, Notre Dame, Garde Nord Train station and central Paris area.
Property was close to everything. A grocery store and several places to eat right across the street. Staff extremely nice and helpful.
The room 302 had bad smell. They tried to find another room but they were all booked. So we had to stay there. They were nice to include our breakfast though.
The location and staff is great , but no mini fridge in rooms and the room in the morning smells breakfast cooking . We complained about it. It s terrible to wake up at smell of eggs and bread at 6:00 am
Highly recommend
The staff were excellent. They were present and available for every question I had. I highly recommend this hotel.
Room is nice, bed is very comfortable and room is clean. Staff are very friendly and willingly to help and recommend places to go. Breakfast was okay but not amazing but got chocolate and pastry’s are nice.
This is a quirky but very nice hotel in an ideal location. Surrounded by great restaurants and cafes and bars it is only a 20 minute walk to The Louvre. There is also a Metro station almost on its doorstep. Staff were super friendly, organising my airport taxis and the breakfast is really nice and excellent value. All in all I would definitely stay here again.
Great Paris Hotel
This is a great hotel if you’re wanting a hotel in Paris that is in a quiet location but relatively close to most attractions. The AC works well. The rooms and bathrooms are small - but you’re just sleeping there so it doesn’t matter too much! Hotel staff were great both times we stayed here.
Enjoyed our
Martin was very nice and polite. Good location, close to restaurants and metro
Relaxing trip with complete satisfaction.
It is a perfect place for the visitors who want to see the city from very close. Nice restaurants, night life, beautiful places every thing is so close to you. We'll we had a great time.
Good location, nice French hotel. Staff friendly and good English!
Quiet & affordable creature comforts
Nice, quiet location, not too far from metro... small but clean room with AC & private bath. I would stay again!
Great staff very willing to help with anything. Good location..
Would stay here again
Very pleasant. Well located. Friendly and helpful staff. Good value for money! Would stay here again.
There was a situation that made me very uncomfortable. My friend and I booked two separate rooms and he departed hours before I did. When he checked out at 4:30am the desk clerk then realized we didn't room together. He then called my room at 4:30am to tell me he thought we were a married couple that roomed together. Then he proceeded to ask me to come downstairs for a cup of coffee with him. I refused, then he asked me to come downstairs to book my taxi shuttle for my flight in the afternoon. I told him I would come book it at 7am, then hung up the phone. That was inappropriate and made me feel scared and uncomfortable.
Staff was very helpful and room was very comfortable and clean.
We stayed for a week at Hotel Mondial and I was pleasantly surprised. We are a family of four and got a room on the 6th floor. It was such a cute room with a tiny balcony with one chair, I wasn't expecting anything but a window. I loved going out and sitting there to read. There were multiple windows we could open and we did due to the fabulous weather. The staff at breakfast were so nice, the food choices were the same everyday and some days not always available but it worked out for us. I have seen many not so great reviews so after booking I was a little worried but it was for nothing. Also, the metro is so close as well as a great place for ice cream, Amorina, just on the corner : )
Pros: we could park our car in front. But there are only 4 parking spots and they are small size. It has an elevator, but also tiny. And it has a/c. Cons: we have a family of 5, there are no rooms that can fit us, and they don’t have connecting rooms. So my husband slept with my son and I slept with my daughters. The room had a lot of old dust everywhere, not really clean. It is a not smoking facility, but smells like smoke everywhere. I am not sure we will stay there again.
Disappointed
Price high for condition of hotel. Would not recommend
Not bad for central Paris
WiFi very poor, bathroom tiny, but very clean. Decor a bit faded. Very quiet considering location. Breakfast adequate.
Great hotel and friendly staff
