The hotel is great and the staff is friendly
Very helpful and friendly staff.
This is a nice hotel in a less touristy area of Rome. The room was very basic but functional, and the staff was very friendly and efficient.
Great and safe place
Very clean and nice
Bad roads and parking and terribly dirty place almost a dump
Loved staying here. I struggled to find an affordable place in Rome, so Metropolis really stood out as best in class for the price range. There’s some hallway noise and things aren’t at luxury level, but all the factors that matter were fantastic.
Wonderful location friendly staff
The staff were friendly
Loved our stay
It was very nice, only comment was that the room had only 1 large towel. We had to ask for one (which they sent directly to our room) and when room was cleaned they replace them by only one. But really not a deal since staff was usefull and kind. They speaked but Italian, French and English (maybe even more)
Great location for the main attractions.
Great location in the heart of Rome. Walkable distance to St. Peter Square (15min). Close to Lepanto Metro Station. 10-15 minutes tax/Uber drive to Termini (Rome Train Station.
Quiet location. Handy for the metro. A few bars and restaurants close by. Good for the Vatican and castle. Room was dark with only skylights and noisy air conditioning. Breakfast was limited.
Great location
The property and the staff were nice
Lovely hotel not far from the Vatican
A very nice boutique hotel close to Lepanto subway station in Rome ( not far from The Vatican ) Comfortable room, clean, quiet, modern. Delicious breakfast ( and reasonably priced). Lovely and helpful staff.
No window
I wonder why there is no windows.
A wonderful hotel that is in a quiet part of Rome yet one block from a subway stop. Great local restaurants to walk to. Also can walk to Vatican.
Staff was very nice, greeted me upon arrival and departure daily. Held my luggage in a safe room until checkin. Breakfast was good.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is well worth the price. And the location is perfect for getting around the city. This was my third or fourth stay and I will be back.
Very nice hotel close to the Metro for visiting all the sites.
Wouldn’t say it’s a 4* by UK standards, but a good 3*. Food and bar a little strange, so make sure you research where your options are. This isn’t a tourist area so you have to walk a little to find hustle and bustle. But it’s nice a quiet, has very good transport connections. 4 of the staff we interacted with were excellent, 1 wasn’t great, dismissive and wasted a lot of time checking us in that didn’t need to happen just to serve his ego in our opinion. But that being said the other staff in the reception and breakfast area were really excellent. Breakfast was basic for €15 each, continental, in the area you can find a lot more for your money. Great location if you are here to go to a game at the Olympic stadium. 30 minute walk there and around 20 to the Vatican. Little Further into central Rome, but the Metro is easy to navigate and very cheap. All in all, I would stay there again for the price if I was going to the stadium again, but otherwise I wouldn’t. All a bit tired and no atmosphere.
Very friendly staff and clean rooms
Really bad!
Terrible service! TV was not working! Breakfast was awful!
The hotel was a nice stay and the receptionist was very helpful in guiding us on where to visit Rome's landmarks on a map. One thing I will mention is when the cleaner cleaned the room after we had gone out for the day, when we came back she had done everything apart from leaving us any body wash which was odd as she had given us 6 bottles of shampoo instead?? so I had to go down to reception and get some more body wash from the room but apart from that the hotel was fine.
Stayed for my first time in Rome and it was very nice! Staff was very friendly and helpful and always available, it's minutes away from the train station so accessing sites was very easy, and about a 15 min walk to Vatican City, I highly recommend!
Cute in the city
The hotel was clean and welcoming. Room is on the smaller side. However, you can catch the metro or bus within walking distance of the hotel. Also, there is a lot of eatery around and can walk to some of the famous sites. Definitely would stay again.
Great hotel for the price stayed 8 days the room was nice liked that the metro was just down the street very quiet outside and inside. Staff 24hrs and they were very nice an friendly. The only minimal complaint was had breakfast once an the options they had was very minimal also wished they had an iron in the room instead of asking for one every time i need it. Other than that i would go back an use same hotel if I wanted to stay outside of center of rome
Best comfort stay
Great service and accommodating. Would recommend this place to anyone who is visiting Rome.
Basic experience great staff most of the time.
Amenities great towels not available I ask for tissues they had none available, disappointed experience sorry to say the staff did the best that they could and were very helpful.
Catered to Business clients. Treated Expedia clients poorly. We arrived an hour before check in. Told our room was not ready yet the guy in front of us was given early access. Woman at front desk was very rude to us but not to others who seemed to be traveling for business. We were not. Maybe they paid more for their room? Three people were waited on before us. All got rooms on higher level. We got 1st floor noisy room with a glass bathroom door that did not close all the way. Had to push a towel under it to keep it closed. Chipped floor tile in bathroom. I covered it with a towel. Floor was sticky but they did give us slippers. Bed made noise when getting in and out. Restaurant only open for breakfast yet they advertise all day. Breakfast was $15 per person. You can walk a block and get breakfast for $8 per person. No coffee pot in room (only upper level rooms had them). I brought my own instant Decaf coffee but no way to get hot water. The lobby is very small and is laid out weird. You have to walk down a ramp to get to the seating area. Very small room with water stains and flaking rotted wood on the bathroom wall and by the night stand. We picked this hotel because it was relatively close to the Vatican. The picture online is what you see when you walk in. But once you look closer... surprise.
Excellent staff, they accommodated me with everything I needed. Very clean hotel and amazing location. I felt very safe and very happy❤️ Thank you for everything
Las instalaciones del hotel están en excelente estado, y la ubicación es muy conveniente para moverse en transporte público a todas las zonas turísticas.
Nice Hotel off the Beaten Path
Nice hotel located a little off the beaten path in a quieter area. A little less than an hour's walk to the main touristy areas of Rome. The hotel and room both looked recently renovated with modern finishes, and the room was very clean. I am very picky about cleanliness and it met my standards. The hotel staff was very nice and the daily breakfast was a plus. The only downside was that we couldn't figure out how to work the air conditioning, but we were in our room so infrequently that we forgot to ever ask for help.
Good location close to Vatican and metro station. High price - not worth for the money. No WiFi - don’t go there if you need it. During rain it does not work - I stayed 3 nights, no internet in the whole building during the whole time and stuff did not help and did not bother to resolve the situation or provide updates. Shower is good, room is small and just one chair for the room for 2 people.
I stayed at this hotel for business, the hotel itself is nice and comfortable. Before I got to the hotel I needed assistance, I had sent two emails and I didn’t get any help, so I called and the person I spoke to told me I was asking too many questions and they didn’t want my business. This totally spoiled my trip. For a hotel based around customer care this hotel is terrible. If I could score a negative 5 stars, I would.
We Stayed in a superior room, the location was very good and close to tram and Metro, the reception staff were excellent and very polite and supportive, also the breakfast that was good and the staff in the dining room were all very friendly, the neighbourhood of the hotel was good and safe, the cleanliness of the room was good, the tub and the shower was a bit old and needs renovation
Worse thing was to sleep in an old matress. While we were there, we couldn’t sleep at all. Pillows terrible too. We couldn’t iron our clothes because it wasn’t allowed even if we will go to buy our own. We booked for 6 days, but we ended leaving the hotel after 3 days and only because we already had some tour reservations. I had a really bad back pain. The Philippine employees were amazing but they couldn’t do much since the hotel controls everything. You will feel that you rent an ARB room following weird rules from management
The images I saw online were completely different than what I saw in person... I arrived at 1:30 in the afternoon and my room was not ready, and when it finally was ready hours later, no one helped me with my luggage's. When I entered the room, I saw a stain on the comforter, the pillows were very uncomfortable and flat, and the bathroom was too dark to even see anything.
not a 4 star hotel
This is not a 4 star hotel. The front desk and the maid were good nice but that’s all we saw. A 4 star hotel must be accessible to the guest 24 hours a day. Check in at this hotel had to be done by 11pm. A 4 start hotel must have A restaurant or dining area must serve breakfast and dinner throughout the week. Furthermore the 4 star hotel must have a liquor license and an area where beverages can be served. Not happening at this hotel .
Overall Great Hotel
Modern hotel with all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay. Great location close to tram and underground which we used daily for sightseeing. Restaurants, cafes and bars nearby in walking distance. Good breakfast selection to start the day with. Comfortable bed however this was a slightly awkward layout as the head of the bed didn’t reach the back wall due to the bed surround so it made for a gap at the top of the bed. Overall great location, clean, modern and tidy would definitely recommend for a city break base :)
Good value for the money. Very good breakfast
We had a leak one night but it was fixed straight away in the morning. Staff were super helpful from booking us taxis to recommended some great restaurants. Thank you so much :-)
Enjoyed the quietness.
Nice stay in Rome
To call this place 4 stars is a joke.. Unless it is out of 10 stars. The staff would turn the AC off while away, which made it boiling in the room. And even with the AC on full blast it never got cooler than 27C. It smelled terrible in the room, the power went out in the elevator, and it was musky and humid.
Air conditioning
Not so good, as the air conditioning wasn’t working properly, but rather recirculating the air in the room. The reception kept on saying they will fix it or have fixed it every time we would go or call to discuss, but the only tiny difference was in the last day after asking fir a ventilator or another room. It’s unacceptable when you charge so much and are a 4 star hotel not be able to maintain a cold/acceptable temperature in the room during the summer. Please bare in mind that Rome is always super hot in summer. There were times when outside felt colder than in the room.
We celebrated our six anniversary here in Rome at this property. We enjoyed it a lot! It was really clean, quiet, smelled great, staff was very helpful and really nice! The breakfast was delicious! It’s an excellent location for anyone that wants to go sightseeing in general. We walked a lot to the main tourists areas and the sightseeing busses. The area is very quiet and safe. We slept really well! We will come back to this property they accommodate small children and provide the accessories needed.
The Good: The hotel staff are kind and helpful. The breakfasts are satisfactory as well. We enjoyed bread, sliced meat, cheese, eggs, and various pastries. The Bad: During the first night, our bathroom drains smelled of sewage. We complained, and so the next morning, the hotel manager offered to switch us to another room. But by then, the odor had dissipated, so we declined, with thanks. What a mistake! The next night, the foul stench returned, and it remained into the morning. It was sickening. So I accepted the manager's offer, and we moved to another room. I am thankful that they switched us so quickly, but this problem should never have happened in the first place. Bathroom drains don't just suddenly start smelling this horrible. It takes months or years to build up such nauseating odors. To allow the stench to get this bad was careless, and inconsiderate of their customers. Their negligence is all the more egregious, considering the high rates they charge for their rooms! If they had been hiring a plumber on a regular basis to check all their drains at least twice a year, we would never have had to endure those revolting sewage odors. Preventive Maintenance is the remedy, and they should have been doing it all along, for the sake of their guests. But they didn’t, and we suffered the consequences.
The hotel is close to a metro stop, walking distance to Vatican. Staff is always willing to assist and the breakfast was excellent. Very happy with this choice!
Rooms have not been maintained well, the air conditioning did not function, carpet and fabrics had stains, breakfast was poor.
The property is located near to Vatican and other touristic places. I did not like the toilet and clean conditions of the room.
Stayed in their suite.. I think it's time to change out the carpets and fix the shower drain (hate standing in water while taking a shower). Overall room is nice and hot tub was cool (although couldn't get the drain plug out). Not sure why I couldn't turn on the AC, it was way too hot in there. I saw they had the override on, I get that it's winter, but there's NO windows (only 2 skylights) and it got really hot overnight. Let me control the AC if I want too. Good location, quick uber to most places and nice neighborhood.
Good location, 2 minute walk to Lepanto metro stop. Desk staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was clean.
It was in a nice quiet neighbor hood close to the Train station and bus pick up. Lot of close restaurants and cafe's near by. Staff could be a little bit more helpful and the hotel offers private car service booking to the airport.
We had a trouble checking in the excuse that they didn’t receive a reservation from expedia and the hotel is fully booked, we waited for like 45min while the the lady was have a friendly conversation with two guests and ignored our frustration, then suddenly the room was ready, really unwelcoming front desk lady and asked couple question made me and my wife absolutely uncomfortable, I would never recommend it to anyone.
We enjoyed out stay at Hotel Metropolis. Staff was kind and professional. Restaurant was excellent - we had breakfast and a dinner. I would stay again.
Bathroom wasn’t clean, room is very small, no place for my bags. Also i don’t know why the checkout is 11:00am ? !! The checkout in most hotels 12:00 pm and i can extend till 2:00 pm! This is the last time i stay at this rubbish hotel.
Great location walking distance to Vatican and near metro stop. Wonderful local restaurants around the corner. Staff was very nice. Room was wonderful. Hallways could be cleaner. Breakfast was so-so.
Mattresses were not comfortable and the AC was not functioning properly. The tub was difficult for my mom to get in and out of.....we were not warned about this.
This place is very close to public transportation. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
I wasn’t pleased with the cleanliness of the bathroom. There was visible mildew in the shower and a permanent ring around the tub!! The mattress was of poor quality. I felt every bed spring digging into my body. The phone in my room didn’t work.
Hotel was Good
Central location but smallish rooms
The locations is great for access to the Vatican, Pantheon, Colosseum, and everything in between. It is not the most spacious of accommodations and there are only a few rooms with Bathtubs even though all rooms indicate a tub/shower The breakfast as well worth the additional cost
The only thing positive that I could say was that the woman at the front desk, Ambra, was outstanding in every way. She was welcoming, friendly, professional and very sharp.
If you like a hard bed, this is the place for you
Initially, I thought the room looked great - however, the bed felt like a slab of concrete, the AC barely stirred the air - and it was in the 90s in July - and there were no windows in the room - just a single remote control operated skylight. I was thrilled that I only had one night there as I would not have been able to survive a second night on that awful bed. On the plus side, the free breakfast was a nice assortment, however a little more fruit available would have been welcomed.
I hated my room. There were no windows!!!! I did not know I had to specify I needed a window in my room, only a sky light in the roof. What was this? a jail cell? Was not happy with this at all. Will not recommend it.
The most pleasing thing about Hotel Metropolis was the staff. They were consistently polite, friendly and helpful. The condition of the hotel is good. We very much enjoyed the breakfast. We were especially pleased with the way the staff was willing to make excellent cappuccinos upon request! The hotel is within walking distance from the Vatican and other major sites in Rome.
Brilliant hotel, everything we expected from the pictures on the site. Perfect location and staff were so helpful
Very pleasant stay. Friendly staff. Hotel is walking distance to many key attractions.
Generally very good
Generally very good
The air conditioning didn’t work properly and it was difficult to keep open the window on the roof because of the noise from the street. The bathroom cupboard is broken and the shower holder as well.
This hotel is decent and in a good location. One block from metro. Close to restaurants, shopping area and Vatican. Front desk personal at 12 noon was excellent. Room was a bit small but clean. shower was too dark and hard to see condition.
Even a superior room was a little tight. My room was also always too cold even when I adjusted the temp. What I hated most though was how humid the room was. I felt like it was a beach resort room with the humidity in there.
Nice hotel, small room
Nice hotel in a pleasant location. Good service. Nice breakfast. Room very small and we found the bed and pillows too firm to be comfortable.
Not so good
The location is not so good though it's close to metro but that metro station is close to nowhere. The second day we stayed , they didn't fold/hang-up the toewls we used in the morning. Their staff is not knowledgeable of even local public transportation. They (not only one, I asked 3 of them) were not aware that there is a supporting shuttle bus connection between the out-of-service metro stations which had been disabled for several months already but are at some hottest turist points like Spanish steps and the Foundation Vetril.
Nice hotel located not far from Vatican. Sits on a busy road which was noisy at night with window open because A/C would not turn on.
Everything was perfect, staffs, food, location and room was excellent
,property very clean but was looking for tea making fascilities in room.
It was very clean and orderly. The staff was friendly and helpful!!!
There was tea/cofffee essentials in the room. Clealiness the room is excellent. My room was kept tidy everyday. The pillow cases and towel sheets was changed everyday
It is an OK hotel, rooms are small. Good location. Same breakfast every morning
Hard bed, hot room and AC not cooling, noisy room by the elevator, location was ok and staff friendly, breakfast somewhat ok but not great
Good location and close to Lepanto Station. Toilet fixtures seem to loosen or not work properly.
Metropolis but not Metropolian
This hotel does not live up to its name as a metropolitan type hotel. The hotel was accomodating but we had a real problem with the electonlights. The room also was much smaller than expected but when I asked to be moved they wouldn't accommodate me. Then the lights went out in the room and they moved us. The hotel is out of the way, you need to take a cab no matter where you are going
Not a bad stay
A reasonably comfortable stay, good value and big rooms. The 4th floor rooms are a tad unpleasant as they don’t have windows, just an attic shutter and no black out curtain across the shutter making it too bright and difficult to sleep.
Excellent Hotel, with modern furnishings and fixtures. The room looked out on to a tree-lined street and it was wonderful to just open the windows and let Rome "in." The breakfast that was served in the mornings was excellent and the staff were all very friendly.
Very nice hotel
Hotel very close to metro making it easy to get around the city, 15min walk to Vatican. The hotel was very clean and the staff were extremely helpful. Good breakfast👍
Great neighborhood hotel!
This is a very nice hotel with a great breakfast available every morning! Rooms were very clean and metro was 3 minutes away!
Very nice place, convenient to everything!
It is in a very good location, about a 10-15 minute walk to the Vatican. Good restaurants abound in the area. While our room was not large, there was plenty of room to store our things. Breakfast was good, in their interesting lower level dining room. Staff was helpful and pleasant. We would stay there again.
Small rooms
Room was very small not as per the pictures provided by expedia. Close to trams
Very nice hotel near Vatican city
Very nice little hotel near Vatican City Very pleasant area and safe too Hotel staff very professional and helpful We enjoyed our five days stay thoroughly Very easy to travel to Rome city Centre from the hotel via metro
Wonderful room (we got the suite), amazing breakfast, and okay location (it's in the middle of nowhere, but right next to a bus stop, which is minutes from tourist areas). The staff was okay - not amazing, but not the worst. Overall, it's a great hotel in a quiet neighborhood, if you want that. It's like a hidden gem! Oh, and the hot tub in the suite was amazing!! I highly recommend upgrading to the site for a very nice stay!!
Poor services
Small rooms. Breakfast is in very bad condition. Staff was is not supportive
Clean. Friendly staff, even if their English isn't that great. North Americans shouldn't judge the hotel based on our concept of what hotels should look like. Its different over there. the place was clean, staff friendly, room cleaned daily, front desk was helpful and the included breakfast was fabulous.
Is a very quaint hotel..The breakfast was special and they did a good job with the renovations...its boutiquie:)
Two stars at best
- leaking shower wasn’t fixed after multiple complaints and water everywhere - No hot water in bathroom sink first two day - Elevator button on my floor didn’t work - Tried to give me a single room at check in despite booking for double room - No city view - WiFi doesn’t work properly and logs you out constantly - No shuttle service to airport
Good value and great location
Overall it was a good stay in a convenient location. The breakfast had good variety and the service was excellent. The only drawback was that the air conditioning was freezing even after turning up the temperature and turning down the fan. If it weren’t for the extra warm blanket in the wardrobe, we would have been uncomfortable.
Relatively small room and dark so it wasn’t easy to see how clean some of it was. Bathroom a good size. Quiet although at the front of the hotel. So overall pleased
