Fun few days in Lyon

Elisabeth at the front desk was so friendly and helpful. She was the highlight of our stay. The rooms were clean and the housekeeping staff was very friendly. The only issue we had was at times the elevator didn’t work.

Clean comfortable room. Excellent shower and very comfortable bed. The reception staff were excellent.

a no frills sort of hotel

definitely a good place for just storing your stuff and sleeping while you explore the city. my toilet seat was dirty when I checked in. shower could've also been cleaned a bit better. there was no shampoo or conditioner or body lotion. a no frills sort of hotel but close to a lot of restaurants and near shopping areas.

The staff and cleanliness were good. Good local eating. However it was 38 degrees outside and the hotel was so hot. The staff did their best to sort a solution. More water should be provided

LYON STAY

It’s was very comfortable and would like the hotel to keep it up 👍

This hotel was fine - nothing special, nothing wrong. It was nice that the lobby was manned 24/7. Although it looks like it's right across the street from the train, it's really about a 10 min. walk to the train entrance. The brasserie directly across from the hotel was terrible. Honestly wish we had stayed closer to the older part of town, but due to our schedule, it was nice to be closer to the train station.

Very clean and nicely positioned hotel

Great location for any conference participant. The room was clean and they had daily service. The room was on the smaller side. Very close to restaurants and the subway stop.

Comfortable Hotel and Helpful Staff

A nice small hotel with a unique winding staircase surrounding the lift. A bit pricey for the standard provided but it’s warm, clean, quiet and comfortable. Receptionists are very friendly and extremely helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Great location - short (10min walking distance) to the Parc de la Tete d’or and Part Dieu mall. Comfortable room with good air conditioning

Had a bad 'encounter' with the room key that does not work. Had to go up & down 4 times with my luggage, to the reception to have the key change before given one that worked. Otherwise, room is clean and service is generally good.

Wonderful hotel

One night stay on our way from Florence to Paris. Great hotel in a great area with lots of restaurants and bars. Only complaint was the room smelling of smoke, but I’ve come to learn that’s to be expected in France.

Good locatiion from train statipn Part Dieu. Very close to zoo and botanocal gardens. Obsessed Fitbit people can get there steps.

Lovely hotel and staff

Lovely stay for 2 nights with my son for a Lyon match. Clean, good location for metro although we walked everywhere to get the sights in. Staff were excellent

Value for money is questionable

Clean room but a bit expensive Only 1 towel per person and shower gel from a dispenser.

Located on a busy corner.

Located on a busy city corner, which made checking in difficult. We received no assistance from the desk staff upon arrival. She didn't even show us where we could have legally pulled over to unload the car. Offered no assistance with luggage not even offering a cart to load it on to. The hotel did not provide parking for guests. The desk staff gave very vague poor directions to the public parking which was difficult for a first time visitor unfamiliar with the city to locate and very expensive. The room was very small with very few amenities provided. I was disappointed with this hotel, it was not what I have experienced in the past nor what I anticipate when staying at Mecure Hotel. I would not recommend it.

I was bothered by the fact that we were not told in advanced that the breakfast was not included in the rate. People at the reception acted in a way to encourage us to have breakfast in the hotel without telling us that it would be an extra fee.

Well located in Lyon

Well located in Lyon. Welcoming and knowledgable staff gave great information on restaurants and local transportation. They helped with an early wake up call and organized a taxi. The room was clean, spacious and the bed was great.

Near to station & Metro.

Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast. Clean & comfortable.

This is our second time at Mecure Brotteaux, so we were prepared to order the Handicapped Room. But there should have been a door on the bathroom section and some additional hand rail support for the open shower and toilet. It did have an advantage, as it was a quieter location. The Hotel staff were exceedingly cordial and helpful. A very nice stay. We will return.

Great place to stay

Great location. Close to the Centre - Train Station (only 1 stop on the Metro from Part Dieu - Brotteux stations or 2 stops on the C1 or C6 bus). Plenty of good restaurants. Staff are great; very helpful and very freindly. Great room overlooking the old station (although the curtains, windows and bath could have been cleaner). Overall a great place to stay and would have no hesitation in booking here again.

Lovely hotel

Very convenient for visiting all of lyon on foot. Surrounded by lovely restaurants we were spoilt for choice

Good base for a city break!

Short city break. Brotteaux is really a business neighborhood a 25 minute walk or 10 minute metro ride away from the peninsular but it does has a lot going for it. There are plenty of bars and good restaurants nearby where you can dine like and with the locals. The hotel is seriously good value all things considered. It is also close to the Part Dieu train station where you can get links to Annecy and the airport.

Good location for exploring central Lyon.

We stayed four nights. Located a few minutes walk from a subway station and only ten minutes walk from Part Dieu station. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and boulangeries in the vicinity but it only takes about 20 minutes on the subway to get to Vieux Lyon and the Bouchons. We felt safe and will stay here again.

the stay started badly as the Hotel only had 2 of the 3 rooms that had been confirmed on the Hotel.com booking. I had to pay for the 3rd room and now have an ongoing battle to get a refund.

Good location but safety is questionable!

Overall the hotel is clean, and well located. Regarding the staff, they seem friendly in general. However, Safety is a concern in that, 3 days after we checked in, someone (we do not know)presented himself at the reception as being me and ask for a key to my room. The receptionist issued him a new magnetic card for our room and he went in our room. Once in the room he went through my luggage (as my toilettery bag was thrown on the floor) and stole my daughter's luggage which happened to be padlocked. The following day, the hotel director apologized for what happened, and they were able to get pictures of the thief from the lobby cameras, which they took to the police station. As we were not sure if we could be reimbursed for the remaining 5 days we have left to go, we went ahead and stay at the hotel. On the eve of our departure, the hotel director gave us a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate they said they could not reimburse us for the suitcase that was stolen, but promised to reimburse us for the few clothes i had to buy my daughter. I gave them my bank information to initiate a wire transfer and I still have not received the reimbursement and it has now been 2 weeks since we checked out. That was a very bad situation to be in, we were at the police station from 11:30pm until 1:45 am making declarations about the theft we have been victims of. It was an awful experience. And I hope no one goes through it again.

Nice hotel near station, restaurants

Our stay at Hotel Mercure was very comfortable - I noticed this was a chain, and am very tempted to just use all of the Mercure hotels in my future trips to France. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the staff helpful - overall a very positive experience.

Nice hotel in a good location

We stayed only one night in Lyon and the hotel was perfect. Good location, great old building. The hotel was very clean, staff helpful and reasonable rates. I would stay at the hotel and Mercure chain again.

Mercure Hotel Lyon

The stay was great. The hotel room could use better pillows, no blue lights in the room and better curtains. The staff was excellent. I would stay there again.

Good hotel Art Deco style with renovated rooms. Overlooking the old Brotteaux train station and close to city center.

The bed was super comfy, the room was spacious and very clean, the location was great and the service was excellent! What's more, we got an excellent rate. We highly recommend it!

Great Hotel

Really nice hotel, staff were delightful and helpful, rooms spotlessly clean. Good location in a quiet part of town but with easy access to transport and walkable to many attractions. Would definitely recommend it to others.

A very adequate short-stay hotel

The Mercure was a very adequate hotel in Lyon for a short stay. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the room clean. The location is a bit distant from the town center but the walk is pleasant and there is plenty of public transport.

Very good hotel

I absolutely loved the hotel. The location was convenient for me - not far from the train station and walking distance to two different Metro stations, the staff were very helpful and the reception clerks we saw spoke good English. Also the person who cleaned our room did such a good job, and I don't know if this is normal for hotels, but we were pleasantly surprised when we came into our room and found our shirts neatly folded, and other stuff we left in the room neatly organized for us. Highly recommend

Charming, efficient & well located

A very good choice, a little away from the hustle bustle of the station.Only downfalls were a that it was a little pricey considering the quality of the carpet & lack of soundproofing but very charming & clean.

Good valur

This hotel was in a good location within walking distance of the train station that services the TGV trains, close to a shopping mall, surrounding restaurants and beautiful city park. The rooms were clean and comfortable and, apart from our noisy and disrespectful neighbour on one night, we enjoyed our two night stay.

Would not stay again

Staff very nice and room very clean but overall the room was disappointing due to size of room - when you have two people with luggage - there is no more space

Clean and very convenient hotel

The hotel is very close to the main train station and around 15 minutes walking from the city center which makes it very convenient. The staff is very friendly and some of them speak english. The room size is very decente and the hotel is very clean. In general it is a great hotel.

Perfectly Located

This hotel was perfectly located near excellent restaurants (Brasserie Brotteaux and Brasserie Est), shopping and a large park. Perfect for both the business traveler and the tourist. Modern rooms that are clean and efficient. Good shower with plenty of water pressure which is not a given when traveling in Europe.

Recent (Dec 2012) stay in Lyon

The hotel was well located in the Brotteaux area-near good restaurants, public transport and the Parc de la Tete D'Or. Staff was friendly, hotel was clean, breakfast a bit expensive. Overall we were very satisfied with the hotel. Lyon is a fantastic city to discover!

Great Staff... poor property.

The hotel is good, beautiful building. The staff are amazingly gentle. If you are looking for a cheap option, stay there. The hotel did not offer air conditioning as they were expecting it would be cold, but it was over 25 C and they told me to open the window.

Affordable Lyon Accommodations

Pleasant stay at the Mercure Lyon Brotteaux. Rooms were perfectly adequate with in-room coffee and tea making facilities. Location is far away from the tourist sites, but the metro is a short walk which delivers the rest of the city at your doorstep. 2 min walk from Paul Bocuse's L'Est and 5 minutes from the Lyon train station.

Very nice stay

The room was immaculate and very nicely maintained. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is an older hotel with updates, especially to the rooms. The free wi-fi worked well (free wifi is provided in 4-hour chunks; you can use as many as you wish but re-register after 4 hours of use). Location is pleasant and convenient to the metro.

We were satisfied during our stay. We think that it belongs to 3-* category so the charge was rather high. The hidden charge was the city tax of 16 euros. The staff were exceptionally helpful and kind.

Odd blue lighting

The blue lights in the room are quite odd. The receptionist says it is for relaxation, but I could see other reasons for it. Other than that, I think it was pretty decent.

A comfortable overnight stay

Good location near station and park and close to good restaurants. Comfortable bed and bathroom at a reasonable price. All that I needed for an overnight stay for business.

Nice Place

Quite a comfortable room, maybe a little over priced, good location not far from the train station, just don't bother with breakfast as it was far below par.

Hotel Mecure Brotteaux - Lyon

Stayed for a few nights in August in RM 208 (2nd fl) and how pleased we were to find a very nice hotel, seems like it's been newly renovated, indeed our room was excellent, spotless throughout, decent sized double bed, air-con Flat screen tv, Free wi fi etc We read an earlier review that someone suggested a room at the rear might be quieter but they are darker with no view, our room was at the front and whilst you are on the road it wasn't that noisy as the windows were well sealed when closed. The hotel receptionists both girls, were very helpful and spoke English well and gave a city map and assisted with directions etc. Also we took the Rhoneexpress from the airport to Part Dieu(30mins) and then a taxi but probably could walk it in 10mins or take a trambus. Very easy town to get around, good for weekend break. We didn't take hotel breakfast as we wanted to try local cafe's etc but hotel breakfast room looked both clean and attractive. All in all an excellent hotel, much better than we thought, keep up the high standards!

Das Hotel ist sehr schön und gut gelegen. Zu Fuß ins Zentrum ca. 40 Minuten. Ansonsten gute Anbindung durch Busse. Sehr freundliches Personal, gute Zimmer, gutes Frühstück... top!

Très propre

Hotel in Center

Hotel is old style with limited renovated rooms. Rooms are dark with very less day-light. Walls are thin and you hear the neighbors very well. Breakfast ok. No parking at Hotel, need to park in very expensive public parking close to Hotel. Will chose another Hotel next time.

Hôtel bien placé, excellent confort, chambre pas très spacieuse. Le bémol est lié au petit déjeuner pas à la hauteur du tarif de 20€.( choix limité des produits et de qualité moyenne (charcuterie)

Horrible ! À fuir… bruit incessant côté rue des TGV et quand le TGV ne passe pas, de la rue. Zéro insonorisation. Chambre digne d’un deux étoiles des années 70. Ne correspond pas absolument pas au standing d’un hôtel de cette enseigne qui généralement assure un minimum de confort et de modernité.

Pour un hotel 4* je trouve ça scandaleux, l'hotel est vieillissant, les chambres sont vraiment petites et pas très propres (traces de punaises), il faut tout demander à l'accueil. L'hotel est très bruyant et je ne parle meme pas de l'accueil, mon uber a failli s'en aller tellement j'ai dû attendre à l'accueil pour sortir de l'hotel à 6h30 du matin car il n'y avait personne, pourtant c'est écrit 24h SUR 24 et refis à l'arrivée. Je suis vraiment outrée, je réclame un geste commercial face à un tel séjour.

Tout était parfait sauf qu’il n’y avait qu’une seul lampe de chevet. Mais ce problème n’est pas dû à l’hôtel mais au groupe accord et à ces standards.

El personal fue una maravilla. El hotel estaba súper limpio y en excelentes condiciones. La habitación es amplia y el desayuno completo. Está a unos 15 minutos del jardín botánico que es una de las principales atracciones del lugar.

4*? More a depressing 3*

A 4 star should be a superior category. Here: very small rooms, cheapest and worn out materials: plastic bathroom appliances, very basic towels and sheeets, wall paper partly come of the wall, inferior design; you have to ask for everything even a vanity set. Complementary coffee with the water boiler? Forget it. Lobby and breakfast room are as depressing as the room itself. Better choose a different hotel. The only treat is a fabulous "art nouveau" café just opposite for a very honest breakfast and an execptional setting for half the price of plastic Mercure. Don't forget to try the Brasserie de l'Est of Paul Bocuse. Here you will find again honest price and fare.

Bra vistelse

Helt okej hotell- lite slitet, städningen lämnade lite att önska, men i övrigt fint och trevligt. Närområdet är utmärkt med restauranger och barer, plus nära till part dieu Lyon där tåg från flygplatsen stannar, samt att man kan ta tåg till Geneve och andra städer runt omkring.

Ensemble parfait mais difficile de se garer autour de l'hotel. l'accès du parking souterrain proche est difficile à trouver.

Parties communes vieilles , chambre petite avec de vieux rideaux et une vieille moquette. Vraiment pas à la hauteur d’un 4 étoiles. A part le prix de 150 pour une chambre classique. Quand même pas donné pour la qualité
