Excellent hotel
Truly exceptional, cannot wait to return!
Great area
Dog fee of 50€ too expensive.
Great hotel! Staff incredible welcoming at check-in and very helpful to our questions. The hotel is located in beautiful area and walkable to Guggenheim museum and other nice places in Bilbao. The rooms are very spacious y great bathroom size. Can’t wait to come back!
Wonderful hotel with great access to the city of Bilbao. The hotel design is spectacular and the rooms very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast buffet is very high quality. The hotel is just 10 minutes walk to the Guggenheim Museum and a tram stop is just across the road which can take you to the old town in 10mins.
Great property
Great location
Great location
Dani at reception was very helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms were clean. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and had something for everyone. A great way to start the day.
Only 1 elevator was working so we had to wait a while for an elevator a few times —-the staff was very friendly
Excellent. What you would expect from a group like Melia
Peefect
Great location and a very nice hotel. Walking distance to all of Bilbao point of interest. Staff is very nice and the breakfast is also very good.
Defo stay here again when on business trip to Bilbao
Beautiful Bilbao
Excellent location near to tram stop and easy walking to Guggenheim. Disappointed not to find a coffee machine in room. Kettle and sachets of powdery Nescafé very outdated. Also bar food offering not the best
Lovely rocks. Cool lift.
Lovely hotel, the only disappointment was the toenail on the bath side..
Good breakfast but very little happening in the evening. Best to find somewhere outside to eat in th evening.
overall really enjoyed our stay. some times their parking fills up.
Fabulous hotel
Beautiful hotel, the room was very nice.the location is super. We booked this hotel as it had a swimming pool. I would definitely recommend this hotel, we didn’t eat breakfast in the hotel. It wasn’t included in our room package and was too expensive to justify breakfast for 4 people. The room also has a fridge which is so handy to have in room, unfortunately it made a loud noise each night and woke us from our sleep and then stopped. We reported it on our last day as I was able to record it and they said they would have it fixed.
We really enjoyed our stay in Meliá Bilbao and we definitely recommend it. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the facilities are nice and clean. The location is also very convenient with a tram stop right outside. Will be coming back again!
Amazing hotel in quiet beautiful area, short walk from Guggenheim museum and other landmarks. Hotel was modern, rooms spatioua and comfortable with amazing views. Buffet breakfast was particularly outstanding and so was the hotel bar.
Beautiful hotel with great amenities, including top floor pool and sauna.Staff very helpful.Highly recommended
Amazing hotel! We would return here in a minute.
The staff, especially Borge on reception, were always helpful and very friendly. We stayed two nights in a nice, clean room. Lots of nice restaurants and bars. Walking to and from the old town was straightforward. I’d like to come for longer next time.
Excellent all around !!
First time staying at a Melia hotel and the staff reaļy made a great first impression. Felt very welcomed from the moment I approached the hotel. I interacted with a number of staff and the professionalism was consistent. I had a premium room with patio. The room was very comfortable and very clean. A good size and had everything I needed. The patio decor was disappointing but did not detract from my impression of the room. I did not manage to use the gym, spa or pool. Tried to use the pool this morning before breakfast but it does not open until 10am. The breakfast was disappointing for me but I am a very fussy eater. I found the choices limited and not to my taste. It was definitely not up to the standard I have experienced other 5 star hotels. Others around me seemed to enjoy it. Location is fantastic. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would return but would not book the breakfast.
It is a very nice hotel. The view was exceptional. The breakfast could improve: the coffee was just fair and some days the fruit was not fresh. It is very difficult to go in and out of the parking garage. We got good suggestions from the front desk in regards to restaurants.
A must stay for visitors to Bilbao
Absolutely beautiful hotel in a fabulous location. The rooms had lovely crisp bedding and the bathroom was luxurious with huge fluffy towels. Bathrobes for the pool were appreciated! The pool is open to the air on one side and not huge but fine for laps or just having a cool down. The gym is small but well equipped. The staff throughout our stay were friendly and welcoming.
Really recomended it
Amazing hotel, excellent service !!
Great staff!
Weekend stay
Hotel was great, all staff were friendly and helpful, room was large and well equipped and the bed was really comfy, fab views over Bilbao and in a great location.
Mediocre
We returned to the hotel as we were impressed last year with the service and amenities This time renovations altered the ambience of the restaurant and choice on menu was less appealing Small gestures such as the sweet jar no longer available and 1 tea bag of each variety ie 1 Earl Grey 1 English Breakfast for two people was felt to be too thrifty We did call down for additional teabags and were presented with one additional TV - a guide to tv channel numbers would be useful for key languages The location of the hotel close to river, museums and football stadium assists tourists Staff helpful
Excellent, clean, great staff, convenient to everything. Helpful front desk and concierge.
Excellent service and facilities
Friendly helpful staff recommended
Some work going on in the HOTEL BUT VERY FRIENDLY HELPFUL STAFF AND NICE COMFORTABLE ROOMS. Hôtel is in a great position
Fantastic place. We love staying here!
Incredibly comfortable bed! Great bathroom. Lots of nice touches - toothbrushes, body lotion etc. The swimming pool and sauna are small but nice. The breakfast buffet is sensational. Staff are lovely. I’ve stayed in Bilbao a lot, but this is by far the best hotel I’ve been to.
Excellent Hotel, friendly staff & great location.
Perfectly located down the street from Guggenheim close to shopping and restaurants. Super safe area. Wanted to see Guggenheim at night and felt very safe walking alone at 9 pm by the River. Helpful and respectful hotel/restaurant staff. Would definitely stay again.
Great location and views
This really was a top notch place to stay in Bilbao. The hotel was really nice and comfortable with lots of amenities. Close to the river, Guggenheim and downtown areas.
Room was great, but hallways could use some cleaning and/or updated carpet
Loved the design, location and Adama on the front desk was very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately the lift from the hotel car park to reception was out of order & in spite of Reception saying they would send somebody with me to Gide me out of the car park, no one turned up so I had to try & find my way out on my own.
Very comfortable stay in great location
Beautiful hotel in a great location and parking underneath. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Staff were helpful and professional. Breakfast was very good. Very comfortable and good standard of decor. Bathroom spacious.
Good choice in Bilbao
Nice, comfortable, modern and well located hotel in Bilbao
Nice hotel but levels of service did not match 5 star rating
Great location and very relaxing.
No Wi-Fi for 4 nights of our stay .. Breakfast selection very poor and layout chaotic with guests working too hard!!
Poor show at Melia Bilbao
On arrival there was chaos at reception as the IT systems were down. Big queues and when check-in was finally completed, we had to be taken to the room to be let in with a master key. For the next 24 hours the same scenario ensued, resulting in having to wait at reception every time in order to get back into the room. Worse still, despite being told after 24 hours that the free hotel wifi was available, it was not. In fact in only came back online after three days, just before we left. Although the room was comfortable, the sliding door to the bathroom was very stiff and there is the potential to get the fingers caught on the door handle on closing. Another health and safety issue concerns the stairways which were not obvious. When one of the two main lifts were being used by the cleaning staff after breakfast and massive queues developed at the lifts, I had to ask at reception where the emergency stairs were located in order to get back to my room. Also, the coffee and tea sachets were not replaced after the first night. I also think that 24 euro per day for hotel parking is rather steep, and the hotel could have compensated on billing for the disruption caused by their IT system failures. All in all, I was disappointed that such a well known hotel chain could not resolve the problems more quickly. I doubt I will stay at a Melia hotel again.
Melia shines in the August Sun
We had a lovery few Days at the Melia Bilbao in early August 23. What a lovely Hotel. What a lovely City also...very relaxing, friendly Staff, friendly Locals, Food, Wine etx excellent. Looking forawrd to a return trip!
Great amenities and location
The hotel definitely has the "wow" factor with an amazing lobby and facilities. The pool was ideal for our little one, where he was very safe and never out of his depth. Great amenities including little touches like flavoured water and snacks in the lobby. The breakfast was great, with a wide range of food on offer. The only little snags for us - our key cards seemed to stop working at a certain point each day and we'd get to our room only to have to go back down to the lobby to get new ones. The iron also gave up the ghost and broke after a few uses. Cleanliness was ok, but not a super thorough job done each day. That said, it didn't impact on our stay, but might have expected more from a five star. The location was great for us, close to the Guggenheim with lots of places to eat near by. We did walk into the old town each evening for dinner, so anyone wanting to be closer to that location might be better with a hotel in that area.
Highly recommend this hotel
Great stay! Comfortable beds. Nice bathrooms and friendly service. Loved the pool, gym and sauna. Perfect location for visiting Guggenheim and other sites.
The hotel is amazing. The room was a bit pricey, but was luxurious. Unfortunately the weather was not the greatest during our trip, we had hoped for some sunbathing, but that did not happen. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. The dinner menu at the hotel restaurant was odd...python breast was one of the more memorable choices. We ended up eating dinner at a nearby cafe instead. We left our bags at the hotel for our trip to the Guggenheim. The staff was extremely helpful with the bag check process and getting us a cab to the airport. Highly recommend.
Great location between two tram stops. Big bedroom and bathroom. Views over the park. Varied breakfast and nice bar.
Very nice.
Gracias
This hotel is a landmark all by itself, designed by the Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta. Great location, friendly staff.
This is not a 5 star hotel. The facilities are old. We had issues with AC not working and had to change rooms 3 times.
Location very good and good service and acomodations. Not like: there are areas inside the hotel that need maintainance, for example a wall in our room had stains (need paint) and damaged carpets in the hallways.
I was not happy that the pool was closed. I chose this property specifically for pool.
We love this hotel. It was our second stay there. The staff is extremely helpful. The location next to the beautiful park is wonderful. Very busy breakfast staff is always in a cheerful mood & the food is delicious. We hope to stay at this hotel again someday.
Clean & Quiet
Hotel was very clean and quiet. One night stay but very helpful organizing taxi for 4 adults with a ton of luggage for 5am. Would stay again.
Friendly staff, architecture and design
Great service, friendly staff. Made our stay a real vacation :)
Excellent location, large clean room. Would recommend.
Excellent
Wonderful
They were wonderful from start to finish . Check in was smooth , the rooms were clean , breakfast service was faultless ( great variety of cold dishes , lots of fruit , cheeses , many different cereals , a few hot dishes too ) and organized well . Even asked for recommendations for places to eat around town and that was great too . We also used the pool & sauna and could not fault anything .
Great hotel, very quiet and restful
Excellent location.
Cleanness and location were insuperable
Nice place though it could use a refresh — plus umbing gurgles and some of the rooms have funny smells.
Lo mejor del hotel es su ubicación privilegiada y su personal muy atento. Sin embargo el hotel requiere un mayor esfuerzo en el mantenimiento de habitaciones.
Good location but needs to be renovated.
The rooms are very outdated and need the renovation. Carpet is old and dirty beyond the cleaning. Mattresses are not comfortable at all.
A bit far away from old town but near Guggenheim
The rooms sre clean and spacious with an excellent design. The service at the desl is friendly abd helpful
Beautiful Hotel!
Everything great
It was near to gughenheim, shopping and eating at a commercial center It haa 2 restaurant and a swimming pool plus parking Staff helpful and friendly
Very lovely hotel. We were tired after long travel and it was nice to receive cordial greeting and rest in a clean and cozy room. When we return to Basque region we look forward to staying at this hotel again. Thank you to the staff of the hotel. They answered all my questions and we're patient with me when I practice to speak Spanish.
well, if some one familiar with travel to the old world sort of say then would agreed with one simple definition "space" Most of the hotel in city center will be in very tight streets. So, the only view you can chose is to court yard or to the kitchen of neighboring apartment)) This is absolutely different when you stay in Melia!! You are facing parks, river bank and few yards away from museum and old town
Great staff. Room not impressive.
Great staff. The room looked old and worn but was spacious. The restaurant and service was OK.
The location and look of the hotel is great but the room was a little old and tired.
Excellent stay. Only problem was with the inaccessibility of the electrical outlets next to the bed. I requested an extension cord and the hotel provided it.
The property is nearby everything, it’s a beautiful establishment.
The property was very clean, the staff went above and beyond to help in anyway that they could and the location of the hotel is perfect with a lot of options of things to do and places to eat within walking distance. Highly recommend!
Decent hotel, a bit further away from the centre than I had wanted. Very clean with huge rooms. Tiny pool and no sun terrace. Half board offered the same menu selection for our entire 5 night stay which was disappointing and breakfast was chaotic. Nice enough but not 5 star.
One of my favorite hotels.
Ok but not 5*
It was a nice hotel but doesn’t warrant 5 stars. Carpets worn, furniture a little dated. A restaurant that only has a selection of 4 wines and bread rolls like bricks. Sorry guys, it was ok, but not 5*
Melia Hotel wonderful and Iratxe at front desk the best!!! We stay in Melia since they open years ago “former” Sheraton . Room excellent a. The only complaint if any.. the bathroom needs better illumination. The common areas area really good. The area to stay in Bilbao is excellent.
Nice Hotel.
Beautiful hotel and great staff! With a view!
Needs an update, rooms are old.
Very good hotel. Breakfast was excellent, like few I have ever had in hotels. Room was good and so was the gym.
Very nice location
A beautiful hotel, very friendly staff and very clean

Outstanding hotel for a family stay near the Guggenheim and the historic center (a pleasant 20' walk).
