The property is no way close to the images.Rooms are super small and you would feel suffocated. Beds were not clean and elevator can only fit 3 people at a time. We ended up booking another hotel and checked out 2 days ahead. I would not recommend it to anyone unless you are an adventurous. Its very close to termini which is the only positive.
Bus just outside to go to Venice.
Before we stayed we had a message from Diego asking about airport to hotel transfer which was perfect as we hadn't looked yet how to get there, so that solved the start of our trip! When we got there, there is just a lift that fits 2 people and 2 big luggages, there was 5 of us, so we had a few trips up. The staff at reception when we checked in during the day was amazing, even gave us a map and where to go and walk in Rome, so friendly and helpful. Our friends room had a leak everytime they showered which they did note down and saw to, it was better the next day. Great location close to the train station and lots of places to eat around the area.
Super helpful and knowledgeable
Really friendly man on reception with amazing knowledge of transport in Rome
Feels like a hostel. Staff were absolutely wonderful! Which was the only reason our stay was doable. Building was under construction the family room was spacious but very low quality facility in general. Bunk beds, not really proper bedding etc. Def hostel vibe. Was clean. Area is convenient, steps away from Roma termini.
Nothing to like aboit the hotel poor basic contion such as outlet, appropriate lighting, the photos do not reflect the inside. Question of basic sanitary and condition. The lobby on 3rd door so to get to it need use of elevator that barely can hold I person and 1suitecase Should be rate 0 zero, take it out from your website
This place supposed to be -1 star hotel or even it’s not deserves to call it hotel they opened our room door and tooks the mattress from the room without tell us they did this it’s not worth it to stay there even 1 night
David at the front desk was very helpful.
Stay away from this dump
Rome was full The only hotel available. Had a double room booked for single occupancy. After one day they moved my stuff when I was out. Got back late and they moved me to a single room the smallest I have ever seen. Next to their cafe kitchen lots of noise every morning. No response from hotel as to why. The only response was the hotel was full and nothing to do about it.
Very clean hotel and rooms. Service was great
Nice little place if you need to stay near Roma Termini train station…otherwise, it is rather unremarkable. Clean and functional.
Fantastic Service Given.
I am a frequent traveler and I have never received the care and support from all the staff during our stay. nothing was too much trouble and they when out of their way to accommodate us. I will return. The Mangers Stephen and Marco outstanding service and delightful hosts, the cleaning staff and the technician - fantastic. Well done team. Yes it was a little older than other hotels but had old fashion great service. a great part of town , hnady to everything.
The hotel is conveniently located very close to Termini station which was really nice as we had an early flight and had to catch the train to the airport from here. The room was decent in size and most of the staff was very nice. However, one of the desk guys was really rude. The beds were what youd expect for a 3 star hotel, but my biggest issue was the temperature control for the shower. It was the most erratic I've ever experienced. One minute it was just right, then it was literally burning me for 10-15 seconds, then it would switch to freezing for 30 seconds. There are very simple solutions to this problem, they just need to invest a bit into their system. Other than that, that hotel was good for the price, and the restaurant directly accross the street is fantastic!
This hotel is in a great location, just a two minute walk from Termini station and several convenient bus lines. There are several close restaurants as well. The staff was so friendly and helpful! The rooms are...not at all what the photo shows. The room was very clean and served our needs, but the bed spread had a big hole in it and the mattress was awful. We are of the "we're just sleeping her" type of traveler so the lack of ambiance didn't bother us, but the bed definitely was a problem.
Photos on Expedia were misleading. The property is worn down. It should be listed as a motel, rather than a hotel. The staff is actually very friendly. Fees were non-refundable and very overpriced. We had to leave to another hotel after one overnight stay, while still paying for the 3 following nights. Bottom line, I don’t recommend, and unhappy with the refund policy.
Hotel is close to Roma termini and a subway station & is very convenient. However, the lift to access the hotel is very old and requires manual opening of the door. It is also too small that can barely accomodate 3 people without luggage. For the 4 bed room I stayed in, there was one double deck bed one double bed instead of 2 single beds one double bed as shown in the booking page and is a bit misleading. The room is clean and adequately decorated. It is good for short-term staying if you're looking for a conveniently located hotel.
!!!
Arrived to find they were fully booked and had no room for us. They put us up at a sister hotel nearby which was "nicer". I didn't see the Marco Polo so no way of knowing if that was true. Woke up next day to find that the sister hotel did not provide a breakfast, which I had paid for in my initial booking.
Don't stay here
This hotel is not good - stay away Overpriced, run down, sketchy neighborhood Crack pupe on steps of hotel as we walked to room, human feces all over sidewalk just outside hotel
We would never stay here again!
The Good …. Less than 10 minute walk from train station. The sheets looked clean. The Bad … check in was late, which happens. We could wait in bar, ordered wine, they don’t have wine. Walls were so thin, and then the school aged kids showed up and it became really loud. We asked to move to quiet part of hotel, the desk staff just shrugged so has to put up w it until about 11.30. Were in Italy for 2 weeks, this bed was the most uncomfortable of all the beds we slept on. If you Billy’s the breakfast plan(we did) make sure you bring proof that you have the plan included in your room. We had the proof but chose to get out of there as fast as we could and skipped it. We had a 5am wake up & a Large group of loud young men were hanging out in from of Mimi Mart across the street and we could hear them thru the closed window. I would not recommend this hotel. We couldn’t get out of there fast enough and would never stay here again.
Great location nice old hotel. Not for travelers looking for great amenities it’s an old hotel with small rooms perfect place to lay your head after a day of sightseeing
misleading photos. this live hotel looks older and uglier.
This hotel is conveniently located one block from Termini Station. The hotel recently acquired rooms on the 6th Floor which were recently renovated. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I have stayed at this hotel five times and would definitely stay there again.
Handy Location
Very handy, close proximity to station and for tour buses. Comfortable good size room, clean. I got a good last minute deal but if I'd paid rack rate would be unhappy about not even a cold water in the mini bar. In the room I was in there was sometimes a smell of sewage... with windows closed. Breakfast is ok. Given Italians love their coffee, cuppucino made on powdered milk was unusual.
I liked that the room was clean, air conditioning was working fine, breakfast was good
Shower temperature fluctuated
Great service. Close and easy to get to from the train station. It reminded me of an SRO. The shower temperature fluctuated rapidly from hot to cold while using it. Not the most comfortable but a solid place to stay overall.
Great Hotel at a Great Price
This was a wonderful hotel for our stay. It was a little tough for us to find the first time and we never used the elevator but the room and staff were great. It is also in a good location. There are plenty of good-priced restaurants nearby along with many transportation and tour options around.
Not recommended
The photos of the rooms are nice but in fact most rooms are old, shabby and airless, with extremely small TV sets, unless you get the renovated ones on the 6th floor, but those are for additional price. The check in staff is helpful and friendly, but the people serving breakfast are lazy, inattentive and grim. They do not hurry to add food when it finishes. Boiled eggs were not added even after we asked and even though they had them already boiled in a pot. Very poor choice of food. Breakfast is a disaster. Only one type of cheese and terrible coffee. This is definitely not 3 stars. This was my 5th visit to Rome and this was the worst hotel so far. Previously I have staid in much better ones of the same category, same location and lower price. I would certainly not return here.
Great location, convenient to Termini Station and the good Irish pubs near Santa Maria Maggiore. Have stayed at this hotel four times. Hotel staff goes a great job.
Inexpensive hotel convenient for Termini station, let down by smell of drains although clean in the room.
5 minutes from Termini station with access to metro to all attractions and train to Fiumicino airport Restaurants nearby Can walk to all attractions
Excellent location, one block from Termini train and metro station. Most Rome historic locations within walking distance at a leisurely pace if you have the time. Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms are clean with all necessities and remodelled bathrooms.
Great Location but average stay
This hotel uses common elevator that doesn't fit more than 2 people comfortably. Hotel is located at 3rd floor in a building. It is not that spacious compare to other 3 star hotels in USA. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good. Rooms are cozy. Overall I would rate this stay average.
Follow-Up on December 2017 Visit
Following up on my review a bit late, but for the record, upon my return home the issue was resolved. Spoke with Expedia and the hotel staff and the one night I never stayed there was promptly refunded. Very satisfied with the appeal process with both entities. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to another stay at this hotel.
Great hotel near Termini Station
Am a repeat customer at this hotel and the staff and location are great. However, my arrival was delayed one day due to a mechanical problem with Delta Airlines and I could only stay six nights and not the seven nights I paid for for the Expedia package. Will try again to obtain a refund for the missing night, or at least the 24 euros in Rome tax by contacting both Expedia and the hotel directly. Bottom line, someone owes me a refund.
Low class thugs, STAY AWAY
The people who run this hotel are real thugs. They don't reveal the actual price and when we checked in at 11:30 PM, they say you need extra beds/money and upgraded rooms at extra price. When told that our reservation had all guest details clearly mentioned, one guy said in "Rome" that's the Law and used vulgar language in front of kids/family. While we were still checking-IN were lot of people doing some dirty business. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. only good part is its access to ROMA termini. but there are other good hotels nearby...( i have stayed in rome many times) Hotels.com used expedia to book this, else i wonder how hotels.com has these cheap class hotels under their belt.
Hotel ideally situated.
Great staff, clean room, bed was uncomfortable, and the hotel a little bit noisy! Ex you can hear other people's conversations and the toilets from next rooms. But nicely situated to get to the sights.
Close to train
Hotel close to train and transport. Room pleasant and updated. Staff very pleasant and helpful with information about cites and transport. We're able to leave bags before and after checkout. Would do again.
Bad experience with late check in
Despite that notified the hotel about my late check in. The reception desk made my sign the Cc receipt then told me my room had repairs and I will be transferred to another hotel. Terrible experience.
EXCELLENT LOCATION, GREAT ATMOSPHERE
The place is in a supreme location, close to the buses and trains and within walking distance (if you don't mind waking quite a bit) to major tourist attractions. The hotel is on the 3rd and 6th floors, but there is an elevator. There is a decent restaurant downstairs. The breakfast is good -- not huge or fancy -- but substantial with some fresh rolls, ham, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, tarts, yogurt, etc. Coffee (tea also) is good -- you can have a latte or any other kind of coffee you wish. The room was old-fashioned in its looks (on the 3rd floor because the 6th floor is modern but has less traditional atmosphere) and very clean. The blanket was thin but it was hot at the end of Sept. We had one full bed and one twin-sized bed. Perfect for the two of us! The staff was very nice. The view is of a building with windows -- not sweet or pretty -- but it is really cool; we felt we were in Rome indeed. The only unpleasant thing that happened was the fact that the room was not ready at 2:00 pm as promised. We had to wait till 7:00 pm! I was exhausted waiting. However, they did give us some perks as a compensation -- very late check out on the last day and a couple of other things to make up for our discomfort on day 1. The Internet is not great in the evening when everyone is using it, but it is good early in the morning. Overall, it is a solid 4 out of 5 points for us. I would come back but would call a day ahead to make sure the room is waiting for me. Good experience overall!
Good hotel in a great location
We really enjoyed our stay at Marco Polo. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and the hotel was a great price to say it was a few minutes walk away from the Termini Station. Our room was large and relatively comfortable, although the pillows were way too hard for our taste. Breakfast was good with a good variety of food. Would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Rome on a budget.
Extermely poor quality
The pictures of the building and hotel is misleading very very disappointing
Friendly hotel close to termini
Hotel was on the third floor of a building beside termini. 24hr hour reception manned by very friendly staff who were more than happy to help with queries or directions. Rooms were good sized and showers had excellent pressure. Air conditioning and mini bar also in room. Overall a good hotel for the price paid
Not good
3rd floor with old very small lift. Beds stiff as board. Pillow with out cases. Poor lighting. Breakfast was ok
Horrible.
Horrible hotel in a good location. Overall look -very outdated. Cleanless: horrible. Dust in all corners. Even in very obvious places. Accessability - horrible. Not suitable for disabled person or mum with pram. Located on the third floor of the building with smallest lift i have seen. In short - consider finding something different! It is located next to the train station and the area is not the best. But the bus from the airport wil drop and pick u up from their.
The location for the Terminus station is perfect.
The Hotel is located on the 3rd floor and maybe a bit hard to find. However, the rooms are comfortable enough and we were only staying one night to be close to the station. The breakfast was nice and adequate and the staff were helpful and kind. The area around the hotel is a bit "seedy" but that probably goes for all streets around the Terminus, and it was not a problem for us.
Great location to Train (Termini) Station and bus
Although you can walk Rome, its nice to be close to buses, and the metro. It does not have a street-level entrance. When looking for the hotel, look up. See the small Marco Polo sign. The hotel is actually on the 3rd floor of a building. Take the tiny (European-size) elevator to the 3rd floor. The staff was great. The breakfast was boiled eggs, cereal, danishes and hot & cold beverages. They have a secure place to keep valuables for you and a room safe. We would stay again.
Lovely family trip to Rome.
Great location only one block from the main train station. Room was compact to say the least, the air con wasn't very powerful, but overall was comfortable. Got charged for using wifi even though it states free wifi on the website. Breakfast was the same every day with limited choices and very small dining area. Staff were friendly and helpful. overall good budget hotel.
Not Suitable for Families
Booked a room for family of 5 according to Hotel Marco Polo. It was actually 5 beds in a room that should have been a triple. The breakfast buffet was quite minimal compared to what was in their photo and they ran out before all guests had breakfast. Although they listed having wifi in all rooms, they did not advertise that they charge by the hour. We were told that they do not have an agreement with Expedia to offer free wifi, only with other travel booking sites. It was necessary to keep the shower door open when showering as there was not enough room to turn around in the shower. The floor was not swept well each day and was quite dusty. Although it is not the size of hotel rooms in the US, this was not acceptable by even European standards. Do not book more that 2-3 people in a room even if they tell you they have room for 5. We confirmed with other hotels around that they should have told us to book 2 rooms. The photos are quite deceiving!
Hotel close to station big plus.
Hotel has many eateries nearby. Five minutes walk to the Termini Station which is a big, big plus if you are travelling by train. Just be wary when walking to and from your hotel. Many people loitering but we noticed that in many parts of Rome. It was a good stay. We enjoyed it.
Average
Terrible smell from bathroom drains. Very average breakfast. Upside, good location to termini.
central Location,close to termini station
it was our first visit to Rome so we didnt know any thing, but choosing this hotel was the right decision .hotels location is the best, everything is near specially the termini station which takes you every where, bus stops.shops .restaurants halal restaurants nearby.souvinear shops every place is under 6 mins walk.hotel is at the 3rd floor has a lift.staff is very very helpful, it was hot a/c was taking a long time to cool our room so he gave us a fan on request .breakfast is nice too.loved staying here will definitely reccomend freinds and family.
Terrible
Worst hotel I have stayed in Rome. Good location close to rail station. Rude and unhelpful staff. My air conditioner was broken and did not even tell me on my arrival. Avoid this place if possible
Nice hotel for a short stay.
The rooms appeared bright and airy on the website unfortunately our room was small, quaint and dark. The breakfast area was small with little round tables close together, which lead to musical chairs at breakfast time, as you had to move whenever anyone wanted to get to the breakfast buffet or their table. That said staff where very nice and helpful, rooms clean and bed very comfortable.
Facilities: Basic; Value: Reasonable; Service: Friendly, Courteous; Cleanliness: Tidy, Clean; Great friendly reception staff who were very helpful
Facilities: Typical; Value: Reasonable; Service: Courteous; Cleanliness: Pristine; Wifi was not free as stated
Close to the train station
The hotel was fine, on the third floor of a building, I wouldn't have found it without the help of a taxi. It's only about a block away from the Rome-Termini train station which makes it convenient for getting around.
Excellent location! Essentials all there!
A really good place to stay, particularly if running on a bit of a budget. Super location for arriving from the airports with express buses from both arriving just a few minutes from the hotel! Ideal if arriving late at night. Plus the airport train goes into Termini too! Great to be right next to the station with its Metro ... Quick to journey on to places of interest as well as leave for day trips and departures across Italy. Rooms were clean and comfortable and breakfast fine, with some breads, pastries, cereals, fruit, juices, hot drinks etc! Places to snack nearby ... Staff are very friendly and helpful too ... Just ask away ... May be the rooms were a little on the dark side in terms of lighting! Also struggled with our adapters for the UK to Europe, it seems the two plug pins were not long enough, reception was v kind and lent us an adapter which worked just fine. (Also there is a city tax payable of 2 Euros per person per day when staying in hotels which we paid on leaving) ... Overall a great place to be based in an amazing city! Would certainly recommend!
Nice hotel near the termini
The hotel is a good budget hotel although the tariff includes breakfast, the breakfast is nothing to shout about we ended up having to buy breakfast at a restaurant. The double bed was just two single beds put together and very uncomfortable
Marco Polo
The best location, with excellent staff and OK breakfast, my only complains were the hot water because the shower was either too hot or too cold, the room is clean but small, but definitely love the location close to the Termine station.
Grows on You
I stayed there for a nice lengthy time of nine days between 12/25/13 to 1/2/14. At first I was slightly disappointed by the hotel in general; the location( although close to Termini) was very obscure, the staff seemed aloof, the rooms were sparsely furnished, and the place just seemed really small. However, the longer I stayed, the more homey it felt. I realized that Italian standards are much more different than American standards, especially at the price I was paying. The breakfast they served was simple, but great! Very Italian styled, aside from the sitting down part. The staff became more and more friendly the longer I stayed, and went out of their way to help us when we asked for something. For those who like to walk, the location is great too! I almost never took the subway anywhere besides Vatican City; even to the Coliseum and Fontana di Trevi! It's really about 45 minutes walking, which isn't too bad when you're looking around. All in all, it's a good place to return to at night.
Good Base
Close to the main station and comfortable. Staff helpful and rooms clean and quiet. Would happily stay here again. If you are looking for in-house restaurant, lounges etc this isn't for you, but if you want a good base, a comfortable and clean room and no fuss efficiency, then it is well recommended.
Not so great
On my first night, my room was grim at best. The AC did not work and opening the window brought in the foul smells from the restaurants below. The safe did not work, the bed was hard, the room was hot and stuffy, the shower went from hot to cold to hot to cold, and the room was not particularly clean. After complaining, I was moved to a room they called "bigger". It wasn't, and the size of the room was the only thing I had not complained about. The new room was cleaner, more recently decorated, the room safe worked, the bed was still hard and the shower continued to oscillate from hot to cold to hot to cold. The location of this hotel is great, but nothing else is, including the very scary old, old, elevator.
Great Location
Hotel was in a great area. Walking distance to restaurants and termini station. Staff was helpful in whatever we needed. Air condition took a little bit to cool the room down but if you left your room window cracked when you leave your room it helped. I will definitely stay here again. Breakfast was great.
Pleasing
As far as value I don't have anything to compare it to in Rome.
Good but greedy
Which hotel charges for keeping your luggage? I travel a lot and this is the first time we had to pay for keeping our luggage in hotel since the check in was not until 2 pm. Rude Staff. Good location, value for price.
overnight stay is fine
It was only for a stop over in Rome and a need we wanted to be very close to Termini station that we chose this hotel so we were satisfied for our needs. I however wouldnt recommend it for any longer and especially with children. It was very old with dowdy decor. The room was even smaller for 4 and dark. It was clean however , but overnight is enough
First impressions last...
This should not be classified as a three star hotel; the entrance is disgusting it's a dark, bare concrete staircase to the 3rd floor while the lift is a rickety open structure. While the staff were friendly enough the room could be brighter and cleaner; and the bathroom facilities were faulty. Bottom line is this hotel was completely unsuitable for us and we checked out shortly after check in, best stay somehwere else.
A good cheap hotel in great location with basics
First impressions from the street and ground floor are not very appealing but once you get up to the third floor via the small elevator the rooms are a good size with comfortable beds small tv safe, refridgerator wardrobe and nice modern bathroom. The breakfast was basic with cereal, fruit juice sweet pastries cold meat and cheese, tea and coffee and some fresh fruit but sufficient for average person.Location is excellent less than 5 minutes walk to Rome train terminus and the airport bus transfer departure point. We only stayed one night before returning home but would definately stay here again. It is not the palace or the ritz but has all the good basics required.Good bars and restaurants are within one minutes walk and close to lots of ruins and old churches cathedrals and museums etc.Plenty of opportunity to shop from nearby street vendors and markets.
Dump
It was a roach motel.. The place was filthy. Staff was rude and not helpful. The heater runs on a timer that gets turned on at 630pm and shut off at 11pm. It doesn't turn on again till 5am. It's horrible the bathroom smelled like sewage all the time. Unfortunately I had all ready paid so I count get my money back if not I would have left. The first night kids walked around in their white socks and they where disgustingly black I can only imagine what was on the carpet.. Please stay some where else. Plenty of nicer hotel in the area with a better breakfast. I spent 15 day in Rome this was at the end of my travels and all the other places had friendly staff and changed the sheets in the room.. Out of the 4 days the sheets where never changed and the floor was vacuumed once.
comfort hotel
this hotel is very good , so clean, and comfort, nearly train station.
Marco Polo
First we stayed at the Marco Polo Hotel and it was close to Termini Train Station, then after one night we were transfered to another Hotel, because some work was being done related to water suply. The second hotel was farther away, closer to another metro station and definetily not the same standards. For example there was no mini bar, no blower. Rooms were smaller, darker and noisy. Below average and with no stars.
Great location, staff were very
Great location, staff were very friendly. Breakfast was not the best, having toast would improve the experience. Would stay here again.
Rome City Tour
Great Location, front desk staff really helpfull specially Diego, a lot of restaraunts nearby, rooma on good condition, clean , good breakfast, you totally get for what you pay...
Marco Polo in Rome- Good Value for money
Great location, 2 mts walk to the main train station. Friendly staff, clean room, no frills but good value for your money.
Great location, but so so service
Great location, 5 minutes to the biggest metro train station Temini and to restaurant and food markets. The room is small, no free drinking water and coffee pot for hot water boiling. The staffs are not too friendly. Free breakfast.
Hotel Marco Polo - Not a fun place to stay
This hotel is not customer friendly at all. After we checked into the room, it had a very bad odor and wanted to turn the air-conditioner on. It was not working and when reported the manager at the front desk came and said it will work after 10 mins then he said it will work next day and it never worked the all 4 days we stayed.
description is factually inaccurate
We stayed at the hotel in November 2009, on our final night in Italy.Good things:-immediately adjacent to Termini train station (which, in addition to regular trains has a convenient shuttle to FCO airport).-large rooms, by European city standards-rooms with more than 1 bed, which would be convenient for families.Bad things:[...] About 40% of the hotel was refurbished recently. The remainder, including the room that we were in, is quite beat-up and worn, with old carpets, bathroom fixtures, paint, and bedspreads, as well as terrible overhead flourescent lighting. At least it's clean. [...]
Very Convenient Location
The hotel occupies only the 3rd floor of the building (other hotels occupy the other floors). The room was spacious and clean and the staff was very friendly. It was very conveniently located near Termini train station yet it was quiet and comfortable.
quite impressive.
It was our first time spending a night at marco polo. Overall me and my sisters much appreciated with the services and the quality it had provided. The hotel is also closed to the train station, just less than 5 mins walk. :D
Super great experience
Helpfull staff! Proved us a map and really explained the city. I would go back
Fantastici!!!!
Wij hadden 2 kamers. De ene kamer had prima matrassen, de ander matige. Ventilatie(airco) blies wel, maar koelde nauwelijks. Prima stortdouche. Geen gebruik gemaakt van ontbijt. Taxiservice uitstekend.
Prettig hotel vlak bij Termini, goede basisvoorzieningen, prettige mensen
Ubicacion muy cerca de estacion Termini. Buena atencion.

Pieni hotelli, jossa huoneet olivat 3:ssa ja 6:ssa kerroksessa. Huoneet olivat uusia vastaavia. Suosittelen.
Personale gentile e camera silenziosa.
Buona posizione Hotel ok
