Berry good time
Very standard hotel, good location to walk into 3rd. Nothing extravagant but overall nice place.
Very good stay in Paris
Cozy hotel very well located to main Paris attractions (by foot and/or metro). Comfortable beds (!), quality breakfast with many options (english, continental, sweets). Coffee could be better but good hot chocolate and tea saved it. Only downside is that breakfast in the morning can be busy and you have to wait for clean plates/silverware and rooms get bit noisy as people leave rooms. There is a single slow elevators serving all floors.
Good for the price, not a great hotel.
Had a fantastic stay at this hotel! Every staff member in reception was incredibly friendly and made us feel so welcomed. The breakfast was small but tasty, with all the options we needed. Loved the free coffee and water in the reception area, plus they even gave us their local beer for free – such a nice touch! The room was cosy, stayed in a single, which was small but had everything I needed. The mattress and pillow were super comfy. The location was perfect – walkable to the Louvre and close to train stations. Plenty of shops and restaurants just around the corner too. Would definitely stay here again!
Excellent family room. Nice and cool in summer.
Family or 4 short trip to Paris
Overall we liked the hotel and the affordability - the check in was efficient and the staff was pleasant. We had a room that was a great size for our family of 4 and had 2 twin beds which was perfect for our teenage girls. The main downside was that the air conditioning only can go down a certain number or degrees below the outside temp - although we appreciate the eco friendliness we visited during a very hot time and it would have been nice to have cooler sleeping conditions. The beds were comfortable and the location offered easy access to all sites via bus or metro.
The price considering the facilities is really fare
Everything was good..
It was peaceful and lovely. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
We stayed for 3 nights. Room is spacious and pretty much a great area. Walking distance to train stations and Gurd De Nurd. We felt safe and there’s even a nearby grocery and bakery that is soo good. We will stay again
not sure if the problem was with the hotel or Expedia. I ordered a room with an extra bed ( upgrade thru expedia). The hotel didn't seem to know this which created some challenges with our check in.
Wonderful stay
The stay was perfect for our trip, our Eurostar arrived into GDN and the hotel is a 15 minute stroll, you could take the Metro if you needed. The area towards the canal is lovely to stroll and lots of wonderful places nearby to explore as well as a handy 5 minute walk to the Metro for quick access to the main tourist spots.
Anna at the reception desk was the best.
L'accueil est unique parmis les hôtels que je connais. Merci.
Very confortable
We felt very confortable
Staff were great. Friendly and helpful
This place was amazing!! My friend and I both females 22 found it to be very safe and we always felt comfortable in the hotel and the area. There are so many cafe and dining options and it’s close to both major train stations and lots of smaller lines and bus routes. In the lobby they have coffee/tea available as well as a cold water machine which we used daily for out water bottles. The rooms are small but you don’t spend much time there anyways. And the beds are so comfy, even while in Paris it made me want to sleep in longer. I would easily stay here again
Great hotel with cute public spaces and friendly staff. Super convenient to Marais and Canal St. Martin.
Comfortable. Quiet. Close to subway. Friendly staff speaks French and English.
Not too sure about this property. It seemed clean enough and the staff was courteous and polite but the location was out of the way and seemed unsafe
Paris trip.
Hotel is conveniently close to metro and 2 train stations. We felt welcome when we checked in, and room was ready. Front desk staffs were friendly and professional, especially Beatrice. She is kind, friendly and very helpful in any question we had. Room was clean and comfortable. We felt safe during our stay for more than 5 days. We had a day trip to Mont St Michel and we were able to leave our luggage at hotel when checking out and return to check in again. We definitely will stay here again when we come back to Paris.
Great hotel but some distance from tourist locations
We enjoyed our stay and the staff were friendly and very helpful
Friendly staff, comfortable beds and very clean. Would stay here again. Walking distance from Gard du Nord. Approx 40 minutes walk from Sacre Coeur. Not far from Metro station or bus stop.
Decent hotel option
Overall, I had a good stay at this hotel. Very walkable area of Paris also fairly close to the train station. Pros: this hotel is located in a very walkable area of Paris. The staff was very friendly at check-in and the outdoor patio is beautiful. The lobby at the hotel looks really nice and the hotel clearly takes security very seriously. The doors of the hotel remain locked and require the receptionist employee to hit a button to let people in. Cons: in regards to the negatives for the entire hotel… There were several times that I returned to the hotel, and had to stand outside of the front door, hitting the buzzer several times, waiting for the receptionist employee to return to the desk. If the doors are going to remain locked, and there’s not a method for guests to use a key to enter… then staff should remain at the front desk at all times. There was one occasion where I had to wait outside for almost 10 minutes. There were several other guests waiting as well. Specifically in my room, there was a very strange odor. I noticed it when I first entered the room after checking in… I open the windows and it helped slightly… But when I close the windows left and returned that night the oder had returned. The hotel said they could not do anything about it.
Nice, cosy space for a three night stay. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. We booked this place knowing we wouldn’t spend much time in the room so it was very basic but it had everything we needed. Close to the metro and very easy to navigate, walking distance, Le Marias and lovely neighbourhood nearby. Thank you
This hotel was in a great location, close to transit, and plenty of restaurants and cafes in walking distance.
Beautiful property so close to a Metro stop. Many quick markets nearby are open late in case you need anything to hold you over or to stock your room. Room supposedly had AC that was controlled for efficiency while you were gone, but I never could kick it back on for nighttime. Wanted it more so for airflow than to blast the room, but luckily the weather had cooled down and opening up the windows to the beautiful balcony I had helped; however, one night there was excessive noise from the street below so I had to close them and found the soundproofing is quite good. Bedding was nice. For Bastille Day the Metro was crowded and there were lots of pedestrian detours, so I found myself returning on the other side of the hotel than I normally would, which seemed a bit...sketchier as I was walking solo. There were no problems though, just mind yourself in any environment. Depending on what you are touring in Paris, this location might not be as central, but the Metro is so good, and the city so enjoyable to walk, this hotel might just be what you need!
This place was easy to get from the train station. Easy to catch the metro and busses. Lots of places to eat nearby,
Staff was great! Breakfast was ok. Not worth the $70 we paid and only at there one morning. The room was pretty clean, not awesome. And there was a smell in there like plastic coming from the new headboards. Like an off gas. Bed was ok, not super comfortable but the balcony view was fantastic. Great location. And amazing staff.
Nice / Convenient Spot
Hotel was great location for getting to train stations. The staff is very friendly and the room, while small, was comfortable. My only complaint is the room was quite hot and I needed to have the window open. Overall a great spot for the price.
Nice small hotel property not far from Republique station and the area has a hipster vibe. The free carbonated water and coffee station in the lobby is a plus, and the friendly staff. As happens sometimes in Paris, the place is old, so the elevator and stairwell are dated and some room floorplans kind of strange, but I found this charming. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
The hotel is good but the staff are amazing nothing was to much trouble will definitely return
For a last-minute booking, Hotel Magenta 38 really wasn't expected. When I say last minute, I actually mean 30 mins after arriving at our horrible prior booking and we searched for this hotel on Expedia. The receptionist was super nice when we checked in, he even gave us an upgrade to a bigger room which is not facing the main road as well so it was super quiet at night. The area was superb, 2 stops to the international train station/train to airport and a nice 5 mins stroll to the underground which is on the same line with Champs-Élysées. This hotel is also near really good restaurants such as Bullion Republique and Bullion Julien. Best part of the stay was that we hardly spent on water because they have a water dispenser with sparkling water and still water option. If you do stay here, try out their hotel breakfast provided at €14 or book it online for €10. The breakfast selection was amazing and the nice lady working at the breakfast place was the sweetest. Definitely staying here again when we do come back to Paris and recommending this hotel to friends and family!
Staff was really friendly, location was pretty good, and the hotel was clean. There is only one elevator in the hotel and it broke down my first night. It was repaired and then broke down again my last day which resulted in me carrying my luggage down 6 flights of stairs to check out. Also noticed a few things in the room that could easily get fixed (they didn’t finish painting the ceiling, there was a lampshade held together by tape, and there were a few cracks in the wall). Overall, the hotel needs some work
Friendly staff
Great hotel
Magenta 38
Good location, very close to metro and lots of restaurants. A bit tired but clean and comfortable.
Staff is extraordinarily friendly and very helpful. Room was OK for one night, the bathroom wasn't in perfect condition but not bad for Paris standards.
This was a good deal in a busy part of town. Clean and comfortable. Coffee in room.
Avoid at all costs!
I was in an accident so missed my stay there but had paid in advance and, in the morning, 15 minutes after the 11:00 am check out, asked if I could use the room I had paid for to at least take a shower. I was told that it was past check out ( 11:00 am!) and therefore housekeeping was already cleaning the rooms. Of course, my room was unused so there was nothing to clean but if a hotel cannot find flexibility to give someone to use a room for 15 minutes just after check out time (11:00 am check out is so 1985!) they don't deserve my business.
Very polite staff location convenient very comfortable bed they offer free coffee and tea at reception all day -The towels were dirty, they replaced them immediately after our complaints, but the new ones were torn -The toilet paper was not refilled
-
It is conveniently located but the area isn't so nice. The hotel is fine but the room is very small, there were dodgy stains on the linen and the bathroom was always cold bcs there's a window that can't be fully closed. Ok for one or two nights but I wouldn't recommend for a longer stay.
Great location and staff
Great location for bars and restaurants with friendly and helpful staff. Our room was quite small but as expected for a 3-star hotel in the area.
Great location
Very helpful staff at the reception. Always willing to help and go the extra mile. Unfortunately the rooms were not cleaned as they should. Rooms were very small and the WiFi was very poor.
Close to Gare D Nord Train Station
Nice clean hotel. Friendly english speaking staff. Breakfast is 20Euros-not worth it. 3 blocks from Gare d Nord Train Station. STaff held out bags while we toured after checking out, which was very nice. Nice natural food grocery store across the street. Decent neighborhood
Excellent option for a non pretentious Paris Hotel
Best service I got from staff in a Paris hotel. The kindness of the team is what sets this place apart. It is modest, good value for money, situated in an area of Paris which is not your usual go to neighborhood but close enough to all the central monuments, surrounded by plenty of nice options to eat. Great stay and thank to the team for being so welcoming
Small rooms but excellent beds and fantastic customer service!
Staff at the reception were helpful and always ready to help. I recommend!
A perfect hotel to end our anniversary trip
The hotel is very clean and comfortable. The wifi is good. We got the view facing the road and we love it. The staffs were very helpful and we have to give our special thanks to Ann who had been helpful since check in, bag drop off and other things we enquired. Second time in Happyculture hotel, and not going to be our last!
Great location, wonderful staff, tasty breakfast. We will be back!
The staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful
Very friendly, simple and well located for Gare de l'Est
Such a wonderful and helpful staff team. Made my stay in Paris so much more memorable.
The hotel is very well located. Friendly staff. The room was small but modern, quiet and clean. We would stay here again.
Wonderful hotel. Rooms were much bigger then expected. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here.
Lovely stay as Hotel Magenta 38
Our first trip to Paris was complimented by a great stay at Hotel Magenta 38. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were always friendly and helpful. The location of this hotel is great, close to metro stations and situated in a nice part of town. I will definitely stay there again on my next trip.
Great location and very close to REPUBLIQUE.
Great location for accessibility to great restaurants, transportation.
Staff were very helpful and also allowed late checkout. The hotel is very well located if catching the train, and the free coffee, croissants and water downstairs is a very nice touch. I may have been upgraded to a more premium room, which I'm very grateful for. However, there was no air conditioning which is problematic in August. If you can get this for a cheap price, book it
Great location. Friendly staff. Delicious complimentary breakfast. AC was not working fully but I would stay again. Can’t beat the rates.
Third experience at this hotel always confortable, good staff and great breakfast.
I would have gladly given 5 stars for cleanliness and friendliness. But a bag of gifts was stolen from our room 2 days before we left and the video camera outside our room was not working so there’s no way of knowing who stole it. Also, we asked for a wake up call at 4:30am on our check out day. I even confirmed the call with the manager the day before. The wake up call did not happen. Luckily we were already awake to catch the 5 am shuttle to airport.
Nice boutique hotel but weak aircon
Everything was pretty good for the price except the aircon was weak. Asked front desk for a fan and it helped us through the night.
Reception staff excellent. Breakfast better than the norm for this type of hotel
The staff went above and beyond! We can’t wait to come back.
It was located close to 2 train stations which was convenient for us.
Staff were fantastic, couldn’t be any more happy. It’s a proper little gem of a hotel. Great location for all the transport links.
The hotel was in a perfect location. Room was fine a little on the small side for 3 people but clean and comfortable. Service was great just some staff members came across rude, didn’t really speak politely, I am sure someone said ‘oi’ At one point. But overall it was fine. We got bottles of water for free but Evian was charged at €1.50 which we weren’t made aware and charged on check out. Only a small amount of change but would have been nice to be informed first. Room was lovely, location great and customer service was on point apart from some but didn’t ruin my mini getaway. I will visit again as it was good location.
The hotel is in a good location. It is convenient to restaurants, metro and Canal St. Martin The staff are friendly and very attentive. It is clean and well kept. The breakfast buffet has good selection of food and drinks. I will go back again if I have a chance. The only complaint I have was the elevator to the 4th where our room was did not work for few days. We have to go the the 3rd floor and walk one level up to our room. When we go down, we walk one level down and take the elevator on the 3rd floor.
10th Arr Find!
Great part of Paris - handy to most other areas. Gare de l'est is nearby. Lots of good coffee shops and places to eat. République is 5 minute walk!
Very welcoming staff
Nice small hotel. Friendly staff, good wifi, recommend
Good hotel, but no more HappyCulture
Family holiday. Hotel is very close to metro and there are a few restaurants nearby. Breakfast is available, but it was easier, more authentic, and less expensive to go to the bistro on the corner. Nice, clean hotel with excellent service from the staff. Sadly, HappyCulture has gotten rid of their Happy Corners at the various area partner hotels so that makes the whole HappyCulture experience less worth it.
Love the hotel, stayed there a few times and will be back!
Good value hotel in great location
Convienient central location close to main train station. We stayed with two families in the suite which was large and good value. Room was serviced very late (4.45pm) one day which didn’t suit as we were cooking dinner for the children. Female staff very warm and welcoming- one male staff member very abrupt at times and lacked hospitality.
great hotel and really friendly staff. the location may be seen as rough but the side streets are super cute and trendy.
friendly staff, good location for caffeine junkies
nice hotel staff with clean room and good location.
good hotel near metro station
The magenta 38 is a lovely hotel with friendly staff. clean rooms and coffee always available in thew reception lounge area. Within 100 metres of a metro station and with in 15 minutes walk from gard de nord.
They need to make some updates! Otherwise good place to stay.
Lovely hotel for a stay in Paris!
This hotel was great for my short trip to Paris. The room was comfortable, the breakfast was extensive and all the staff were friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend it!
Our family of 6 stayed in the ground floor Suite and we were very happy overall. The staff were very friendly, the hotel was very nice, clean rooms and overall great experience. The Hotel is located very centrally, only a 10 min. walk from Gare du Nord with many restaurants and other amenities nearby. Would stay here at any time in the future, highly recommended.
Perfect for what we needed
Good location, close to metro station and lots of food down the road. Nice and modern, clean and great WiFi! Room good size, but on the small side but we only used it to sleep in. Bed very comfortable!
Good location.
A pleasant small hotel in a decent location, handy for the train station and the sights. Our room was very small, but had a huge comfy bed! Lovely friendly staff.
Nice hotel central location. Close to the metro.
Nice size room for three. Hotel staff was very helpful. Cool decor.
dont believe all the reviews: not 4/5.
initial room was another advertised 12sq not the 15sq as booked. have photos of room 10X with mould in bathroom, hole in wall where deco fell off, safe that was locked (said staff refusing to believe me) and easily removed from shelf, tv that just stopped working, bed that creaked +++, aged and stained linen. after initial no room was kind enough to find me room which was more the 4/5 ie none of the above but room service only consisted of pulling the sheets up, fresh towel and empty bin - nothing more for next 4 nights. hard to take given had immediately moved from another 3 star 4/5 guest rated central Paris hotel that cost a lot less and delived as promised. only reason why this is even 2 and not 0/5 is not the room but 2 out of the 4 staff members i came across were brilliant (5/5) and accommodating e.g. alternative mobile wifi when the internet (whole hotel) stopped working for 3 days; friendly; informative. hotel concept was great but room 10X does not belong in a 3 star hotel. the lady that put me in that room is unemployable-had requested an airport shuttle, a reason why I chose that hotel, only to be told that there was no such thing despite pointing out it was in hotel description - only to confirm later she lied (suss given another staff was trying to prompt her as she told me no x2) as I was present when another 3rd staff fished out the blue booklet and called said service. shame for the good staff and concept.
Well within budget and near to metro
Room is ok for single person but small for couple. Breakfast could be little better as there was not much choice ... Reception and assistance was great.. just 100m from metro.. so it was so easy to go to any place.
Nice Surprise
Its fairly difficult to find a decent sized room when traveling with a young child in Paris, let alone one that is affordable, clean and well located. The room was well kept. It quiet and had a wonderful view. Plenty of room for a couple and a 5 year old child to stay in without feeling cramped. Non smoking and air conditioned, too. Did I mention it was affordable and had a pleasant, helpful staff. We are from NYC, so we are used to neighborhoods that might seem a little rough around the edges. Someone from Iowa might feel a little differently. At no point did I feel it was unsafe there, but its definitely a different feel than some of the areas more frequented by tourists.
Uncomfortable
Convenient location. Good size room and comfortable beds. Non functioning elevator and poor communication with staff made our stay uncomfortable. Cannot comment on breakfast as we didnot use the service.
The hotel is super great and comfortable! Despite the fact the the lift is broken but I had a pleasant stay
Suite was great for familes
Very spacious suite. Close to Metro and train station. We had to do laundry which was about 2 blocks away (not on site). Hotel staff was great, assisted finding a taxi to airport. Would recommend.
Elegant and nice hotel
Helpful and friendly staff. Nice indoor patio. Clean & relaxing rooms with A/C.
Okay value with a friendly staff
The lobby is very clean and the staff is friendly. There is free coffee from a Nespresso machine. They also had a nightly beer tasting that my husband really enjoyed. The double bed is in fact two twin beds connected so not the most comfortable for a couple. Our door to the hallway had about a one inch gap to the floor which made the noise in the hall disruptive. The bathroom was small and the hairdryer didn't work. We had ongoing issues with the temperature in our room. It was either freezing cold or the air conditioning wasn't working at all. The Wi-Fi never really worked either
Clean. Separate room was great for 3 children with a bunk bed and additional bed. Large space. Great for family of five. Good breakfast. Short bus ride to Notre Dame and a 20-25 minute subway ride to Eiffel Tower. Minor negatives like nonfunctional phone which we didn't need anyway. Staff very friendly.
Friendly staff and clean safe hotel
It's was great stay for 2 nights. Friendly staff and clean rooms. Also everything I need is close to the hotel. Even the location is in the middle of Paris. I'll go beck there for sure next time. :)
Nice hotel, close to the station, few problems.
The hotel was lovely and looked very modern but on closer inspection, they're letting themselves down. The staff we not very knowledgeable and took a long time to complete simple tasks such as check-in and check-out. The maid walked into our room without knocking- if she had arrived 30 seconds earlier it could've been a very embarrassing situation. In the room, the TV didn't work at all. The hairdryer was in a very, very dangerous state- live wires exposed at the base of the hairdryer handle and with it being in the bathroom then hotel should take more care to check these kinds of things. There was also a lot of mold on the ceiling of the shower. Having said all this, the hotel was generally clean besides the mold and I'd probably stay here again for the price.
Comfortable and minutes from the subway
Staff very welcoming and lobby was well presented. The room was clean, and comfortable. The air conditioning wasn't very effective and the shower power was quite weak. Plenty of hot water and nice bright lights in the rooms!

Family friendly
We loved this hotel, it was clean and friendly! The family room was perfect for us, everyone had what they needed and enjoyed breakfast. We really appreciated all the help from the front desk and how close it was to the train station. We even could see the top of the Eiffel Tower from the window. I would definitely stay again.
