Lots of character and very helpful staff. Great area in the daytime across from a park with many dining options. Very noisy at night.
Property close to amenities Great eateries in the vicinity a must try oasis grill Breakfast at the hotel very expensive 28Euro Very sparce and not worth 28euro
A beautiful boutique hotel that takes you back in time, with its cozy elevator and wooden stairs. The staff is friendly, and the meals are reliable and fairly priced.
The property was seasoned with seasoned outlets, but it was quaint. It was a good location to stay in the city of Fort De France. Convenient to shops, bakeries and other eating establishments. The Beach was less than a 5 minute walk. There was no bed frame, which means the box springs were on the floor. Something one doesn't expect at a hotel.
Old furniture peeling apart.
It's ok...just okay. Needs some upgrades in the infrastructure. convenient location when taking the ferry which is walking distance away.
Although the water tap in Martinique is excellent according to the staff, I like to think it would be nicer if the guest had at least one bottle of water in the room upon arrival.
We checked in the morning after we were originally suposed to be there and was refused of breakfast as we weremt there the night before. Absolute madness! There isnt any assistance with taxis, the elevator did not work on floor 2, the shower puddled and didnt drain, the bath was very tiny. The room smelt old and musty, as it hadnt been properly cleaned for years. I will not be staying here again.
Great location and excellent hotel. Our room was lovely with a nice balcony with great views of the park. Would definitely stay again
This gives you early 19th century French/British vibes. The decor is dated. You literally have to use a traditional key to get in your room. They did not provide us with face clothes for bathing. I would stay again. Definitely not the your average 3 or 4 star that we are use to. It is safe environment
Beautiful hotel in the middle of town.
Historic hotel with balcony overlooking the park. Air conditioner & good wifi.
Nice views from the terrace. Staff are helpful. Hot water is so so.
The elevator was much too small. It can fit maybe three people in it. And there is only one elevator. This is an old quaint hotel.
Great Stay!
You really can’t beat the quality for the price. Our room was clean and comfortable. The service was good but the restaurant is only available for lunch (online indicates dinner). The location was prime, with a coffee/breakfast stand across the street that opens at 6:30am.
Just in transit
It is centrally located in downtown Fort de France, within walking distance of shops and restaurants, the folly terminal and the bus to the airport
Loved the staff!!! From receptionist to bar tenders!
I love the location especially since it’s easy access to the ferry terminal, just 5 minutes walk to L ‘Imperatrice hotel. All amenities is in walking distance also the beach. I recommend improvement with the breakfast menu. Overall I’d a pleasant stay except for the language barrier if you only speak English.
Poorly maintained hotel, bathroom was full of mildew and mold on grout, very disgusting experience having to shower on a bathroom like this. My room had also no tv. Keep in mind that this area its very noisy at nights. The shape in which this hotel is kept gives the feeling that you are staying at an abandoned house when you don’t see people around. the location it’s great, the view from my room was nice but this hotel needs good maintenance and care to bring up the great potential it has.
Very very nice staff and very nice room
The hotel had a good location very close to the port and easily walkable . The staff I came in contact with were pleasant and helpful. The room I got was very small but it was clean and the bed was comfortable and I was able to get a good rest. The bar /lounge area downstairs was always busy with people coming in and out it seemed like a pleasant laid back vibe . Check in is at 4pm , I wish I could have gotten the room a bit earlier but no such luck and I tried for a later checkout at 1 instead of 11 am which was a no no as well. Overall it was a pleasant enough stay.
Older hotel and room/bath were small. Hotel seems to do its best to maintain the historic hotel.
Very helpful staff and excellent location
One person can ruin your entire trip, and this hotel was sure to hire them.
This hotel is very charming and ideally located.
Well located and Convenient
Excellent location for downtown and all sorts of ferries. Retro feel to the building but the room was decent with a cute balcony, bed OK, bathroom huge. Did not eat there. Many street food stalls in the park just across the street from the hotel, all open late.
Beautiful!!
the area around the property is very scenic with the park and seaside and the hotel has a lively lounge wrung are plus. however the elevator makes a horrible sound all night which is toured. paying customers should not have to endure this night after night. check out the lift before you pay
The door between the room and the balcony is not fully sealed allowing flying insects to come into the room at night and bitting me. I lost generally 2-3 hours of sleep per night by the noise or trying to capture them. The air conditioning was also not functional for half of my stay. Walls a quite thin allowing to hear the TV in the next room which can play until midnight, and street noise. Table to work is very small. However, there is a nice terrace on the top floor that allowed me to work during the day.
I like everything about this hotel and the staff are extremely friendly
We inadvertently booked our stay on the night of Carnival. The hotel was right in the heart of all the action! We were able to walk there from the cruise terminal with our luggage without much difficulty. They let us store our luggage since we arrived before check-in time. Very good restaurant upstairs. Room was tiny but comfortable. They helped us arrange for a cab to the airport early the next morning.
Probably great if it's a business trip
Staff extremely noisy whilst cleaning. Don't expect to sleep in at this place. They start throwing buckets and yelling at 7 AM.
There were cockroaches in the bathroom as well as a baby crawling insect. The air condition was a joke...did not work at all. Ee moved rooms and it still did not work.
Proximity to port and shopping areas great. The room was too small and the noise from an activity lasted until 3am preventing persons from sleeping
Perfect location. Beautiful View. Spacious room. Close to everything.
The location is awesome. We came by ferry from St Lucia and the hotel was about 10 mins away, walking distance. It is located in the heart of the town and close to the beach. However, there was a lack of customer service. I needed to use their only computer and when asked for the password, I was told that the ones who have it were not there. I asked for a wake up call and I have yet to receive it. Our tour guide came to meet us at the hotel and when asked to call our room (he had our name and room number), he was told by the receptionist to simply go up and look for us. However, they did let us borrow a phone charger. Concerning the room, it was very small. The bathroom door could not open fully, it would bang on the side of the bed. The bathroom was so small it was hard for both of us to be in it at the same time. The room had no refrigerator and no safe.
Good.good. I will recommend the impératrice Hotel to my friends, family and Colegue
Great location and I had a lovely spacious room with a patio. It was a bit noisy but otherwise very happy.
1950s hotel with great views
I loved the view of my room. It was breathtaking.
We liked the balcony overlooking the park, the bed was nice, but the bathroom had a very stuffy/moldy smell. The staff was excellent and the 2nd floor restaurant served a very good lunch. The staff allowed us to leave our luggage for 3-4 hours after checkout after our flight was delayed.
We had a small room with an African theme decoration ( as opposed to the colonial style room pictured on the site . Balcony was great to take in some of the carnival preparations . . Great location, friendly bar which is the hub of the town especially on Sunday when everything else is closed . Nearby church has a moving mass on Sunday ( choir ) worth seeing .
The location is great. Near the cruise ships, ocean and stores. But.....Loud church bells early morning, leaf blowers at sun rise every morning and the windows do not keep out any outside noise. Very small rooms old and rundown. Party over head with music till about 1:00 Am then you can sleep till about sunrise. Get what you pay for.
The hotel is a community center for socializing in the middle of Fort-de-France. We were looking for this.
Small hotel room
The room was much smaller than the site's photos. It was about the size of most European hotel rooms - tiny.
Stay in Fort de France, Martinique. 3 night stay
The hotel was fine; the room was clean and the air conditioner worked well. I had issue with mosquitoes the first night. The rest of the tome was fine. The continental breakfast was pretty good. Some of the staff could be friendly or rude, but that wasn’t a big issue for me. This is Martinique so some knowledge of speaking and comprehending some French is crucial; even in Fort de France. The location was great as it is central to many sites in Fort de France, public transport and ferry terminals and so on.
Nice staff, very good location, right in the center of the town!
No service at the hotel counter
Restaurant was good. Nice ambiance service an price.
I WAS WORKING AT MARTINIQUE, DONT HAVE TIME FOR LEASURE, BUT I WILL CHOOSE THIS HOTEL IF I HAVE TO RETURN TO MARTINIQUE, LOCATION AND HIS STAFF WAS NICE .
We stayed for one night with our 3 children. The place is a great location for walking around Fort-de-France. The restaurant onsite is phenomenal. The downstairs bar is alfresco and very kid friendly. We sat there people watching for over 4 hours with our kids...just watching, chatting and laughing...truly wonderful, easy going hotel. The room was adequately sized for our entire family. You are within walking distance to a market, pharmacy, banks and Carrefour.
Pictures até not updated. Cost-Benefit disappointing
Historic Hotel
Great location but really needs a refurbish.
Sad, run-down hotel
While the staff was friendly, the hotel is very run-down. There was a hole in our bathroom door and plaster was falling from the ceiling. The grout was FILTHY. We only had to stay one night so it was doable. But I wouldn't recommend staying here for pleasure.
Ship cabin rooms
Rooms look like ship cabins, restaurant on street is a parisian cafe, Oasis Grill across the street is fantastic. The city can be explored in half a day and this is a great crash pad for your visit.
Historic location
This was our 2nd stay - our stay in 2017 was perfect. However this time there was some confusion at check-in and it took hours to resolve. The one major issue was that there was an obvious crazy lady who would scream at people on street from the hotel balcony but staff couldn't do anything about it because they explained to us that she was a member of the family who owned the hotel, therefore they had to let her have way, and they could not ask her to leave. For this reason alone we will not return.
Great place to land. Take taxi from airport.
Best choice for a stay in Fort de France. Old world charm. The elevator was a little scary! The Josephine restaurant was lovely with good service, and great food!! Also enjoyed a drink downstairs at street level. Fun vibe.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They made me feel that I was one of them.
Lovely hotel, spotty service
We were in Fort de France over New Year..The hotel is located right across the street from the city's main park, La Savane. On our first night, the Dec. 30, the big New Years Eve Celebration took place. It was packed with very friendly people, it was very safe and was great fun! There were delicious food concessionsand the fireworks were first class. The staff that day was extremely helpful and friendly and spoke decent English. The next day, the city was a ghost town and we could not find a place to eat for dinner and we were surprised since it was New Year's Eve. The staff that day was indifferent and did not help us at all to find a restaurant that was open. We ended up at a mediocre fast food place just before they closed. The hotel has a restaurant which is supposed to be very good, but it was not open on New Year's Eve and the lounge which usually serves some food, only served drinks that day. But the hotel is lovely and our room was large and comfortable with a view of the park. It has a nice period quality but clean and in great condition. It is well priced and we had the breakfast opeion which is good. All in all, we would definitely recommend the hotel.
Hotel was fine - service was awful
Hotel itself was fine. Fairly central and clean/comfortable enough. The service was awful. There was nobody there to check us in and the man who finally saw to us had no idea what we wanted - just kept screaming 'what is your room number' to us in French. We came back to the hotel around midnight and nobody answered the door for ages. We wouldn't stay here again.
Great Location and Superb Restaurant
Hotel entrance and bar a bit dated but with a lot of charm. Excellent central location in front of beautiful park. You can walk all over the old center and surrounding areas. The hotel restaurant is superb, with a delightful combination of local and French meshed-dishes.
Great staff!
Although the hotel facilities are average, it should be noted that the staff were really nice and helpful, trying their best to help me with all the problems I encountered with my airline.
Perfect for an unexpected extra night
Excellent! Had to book at the last minute for one flight due to a cancelled flight. The front desk was super helpful and even left us hand written notes with an update about our flight. The bed was comfortable and the bar was great.
This is a nice older hotel with small rooms that are neat and clean. It is close to the waterfront and has great food stands across the street in the park.
Vintage full-service French Hotel
Was unimpressed at first, but the well-cared vintage beauty of the place changed my view. The old tropical wood stairways and finishings are cared for with obvious pride. Room is spotless and dustless, admittedly small, but with all one needs. Breakfast included everything one could ask. Did not try the dinner restaurant but looked very good. Main lobby bar very friendly, sitting under the awning with a ti-punch watching the world go by - priceless!
Hotel is old and needs improving, and cleaning.
Checked in at 9pm, restaurant was closed and we had to go out for food, staff not very helpful told us to check food caravan in the street. Rooms where not clean and very mouldy. Only spent one night as we did not feel safe or comfortable
Alright place
For the price I paid it should have been much better
close to the beach
poor in room Wi-Fi, mosquitoes +++,a.c. in room good .
Close to dock, only brightside
There was no wifi in my room I had to sit out in the lobby to use internet; the bathroom was humid and smelled; they advertise that staff speaks English but none of the ones I encountered did. In addition, the main doors are locked after a certain time at night, someone is supposed to open them so you can come and go as you please, but I had to bang on the door and ring the doorbell for like 5 minutes before I finally got someone's attention and then the guy, I assume night manager, went off on me in French - very rude! The main doors were still locked in the morning and I had to duck under the bar's large gated frame, which was partially opened as they were preparing to open for the day, to leave and renter my own hotel! Only bright side of this stay was that it was one night and this hotel is directly across from the dock with the ferry so I was able to walk to the pier to catch my ferry back to my island home.
Great location
Very convenient location in the heart of everything. Room was a bit small but cozy. Issues with WiFi. Breakfast was a 2.5 star rating. Other than that view from the room was perfect
Small hotel with character and charm, close to all
Arrived by ferry and walked to the hotel, really was impressed with the exterior setting opposite the park. eating out and in was convenient and tasty. The staff was extremely helpful and supportive. The beach was within walking distance and shopping was all around. Great place to holiday and even for business.
Ify
Wifi temprimental. Asked for a late check out and they asked for more than it cost me for the night. I not good at French but some of the staff could speak zero English.
Two Independent Travelers
We rented a car and toured one end of the island to the next. Getting lost in the rual areas off the major highway was like riding a roller coaster and certainly not for the faint of heart! Leslie, with "Beyond the Beach" arranged a Creole cooking class in a private home that was AMAZING and a tour of the southern end of the island that gave us an opportunity to see more than the blind curves in the road. The food at Le Josephine was always satisfying. Having a functional knowledge of French would be very helpful but you can get along well enough with a book of phrases.
Town centre location but can be noisy
Checkin took 30 seconds. Hotel is near the waterfront and faces onto the town's main park out the front and onto the cathedral out the back meaning it has good access to all the main tourist areas and is within 10 minute's walk of the main shopping street (supermarkets etc). Room was well presented and came with a shared balcony, felt reasonably modern, had good air conditioning as well as tea making and had a large TV (though only a handful of the channels are in English). Floor was dirty, as my feet testified to, and the shower spits water all over the floor, but so long as you don't have an issue with a high bed and a high side wall on the bathtub/shower, the standard rooms are well presented. Be aware that the ground floor bar can be musically noisy until after midnight and that the local authority do things like tree trimming at 3 or 4am in the morning so this may not be a relaxing location, but of the two nights I stayed only the Saturday was noisy. Found that the cleaning staff either arrive too early or too late but did a good job, also found there can be confusion during checkout where some staff have better English than others (I was almost charged twice). Generally a good central hotel with reasonable speed open wifi, but possibly too noisy for some.
Decent Locations, Met our needs.
The staff at the hotel is very nice, although communicating in English was a bit difficult. Most of the staff, however, did try to understand what we were asking/needed. The location is really good for taking the ferry to Trois Iilets. Our room did not look like the room pictured, never the less, it was clean and met our needs without any extra frills. We did have daily problems with the satellite TV, but I guess that's to be expected. The only negative was the breakfast. It's not worth the 10 Euros charged per day, per person.
Confident location but noisey all night...
Great location for Carnival - on the parade route! The balcony provided a nice vantage point to see more of the fun costumes while sitting and having a little space to sit and relax since the parade goes on for hours. The unfortunate parts of the location at Carnival were that we had to park 1.5Km away and walk our bags to the hotel because the city closed all the streets in the area before 14:00 when ew arrived and the street cleaning noise from 2am-4:30am was louder than the parade itself!
Traditional, Old School Style Downtown
Hotel is very pleasant, traditional style with nice street side cafe and classy first floor restaurant. Breakfast room is very nice and worth the ten Euros... Comfort rooms are tight but very clean - comfortable beds. Balcony on street was very nice. Great location for downtown and island explore. Walk to taxi-collectifs and new transitway as well as ferries to Pointe de Bout. Downside is it can be a bit noisy on the Savanah park...I would call it lively! Staff is helpful and friendly - but not intrusive or outgoing. Strangely the reception is a bit unstaffed at certain times....the bartender steps in to help put A nice and unique stay for the price...
tiny rooms (Fort-de-France ain't Hong Kong), few amenities (new soap every day, but use the same cup and forget facial tissue at all), odd maid service behavior (better be out of the room by 10:00! – and towels may not arrive until 16:00)
Good hotel in prime location
Great location, friendly staff, delicious food! I enjoyed the stay and it was perfect for a one night stopover. Only downside was a loud, live band playing for Xmas holidays in the park outside my window until 11 pm!
Convenient and nice hotel
Nice hotel in a great area, with good restaurants and entertainment.
Not Somewhere I'd Return to
Check in was easy. However the hotel says free WiFi and when I checked in I had difficulty to obtain a WiFi code. I eventually received one that went up to 12 am only. On Sunday I was told that WiFi is finished. Huh? Checkout was confusing. I paid via hotels.com and was given a bill when leaving. I advised them that I paid already and they did not want to accept that even after showing the receipt from hotels.com. Eventually a call was made and I was allowed to leave. With no apology. The bathroom is badly arranged. The toilet is too close to the sink and wall in front. The bed was comfy though. And the hotel has a very historic look which I appreciated. If you're looking for just a bed to sleep. I recommend her. It's close to the ferry. If you are looking for more, then I'd recommend going elsewhere.
very neat room
Great but would have enjoyed it more if they have refrigerator in the room
Good hotel great location
Spent 1 day while traveling to/from the USA. Perfect location for ferry access, FDF airport within easy reach, and in the heart of town. Hotel clean and comfortable.
Martinique
shower had poor plumbing, otherwise the bathroom was in good condition.
Location, location, location.
Located downtown FDF, the hotel has a quaint historical feel. The check in and check out process was effortless. Reception staff spoke some English and were accommodating. The room was an ample size for one person and looked like the pictures on the site.
Where Did They Get Those Pics From???
Not sure where they got those pics from but the hotel was run down on the inside AND outside. Paint was chipping off the walls, even in the breakfast areas. Rooms are extra small. A towel request was like asking for rare gold. When we asked for a sleeping pad for a toddler we were told in French, "you're giving me extra work to do". The front desk lady at evening was completely rude. And let's not forget, we asked the lady in the bar, whom I think is the hotel manager, to call us a cab to carry our luggage to the port (which was like a 5 min walk). Instead of calling a cab, she called her husband who charged us an arm and a leg. The ONLY great thing about that hotel is the location; close to port for people traveling that way, beach, and Savannah. This hotel would not be on my list for future stays.
Beautiful Empress
Room not ready at 1.30 and service in restaurant very slow; but staff were most apologetic and very friendly, which made a huge difference. Lovely old building with some gorgeous old furniture and great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.
Nice view and quiet
Most of the rooms face the park across the street and have nice views. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were very clean.
Central
Hotel right in the middle of things. Watched a marathon and a concert in the park from our balcony.
Old town closes Sat afternoon & Sunday....
Some old world charm w/antiques throughout. A bit noisy on a sat. nite w/the bar downstairs.. Food was great at both the upstairs LeJosephine (lunch only)& the bar/(plate du jour) downstairs when open. Really helps to know French but all the staff was accommodating. It is so close to the ferry terminal for StLucia/Guadeloupe that you can walk.
Could be very nice hôtel with a few efforts
Friendly staff, but unable to follow up on simple request. Wifi code was not availlable, because the staff did not have his computer. Nice colonial furniture with a real enchanting atmosphere. Clean place, but lack of basic accesories in the shower to place the soap bar or curtains to avoid splashing all over the bathroom. The towel bar was installed at 7 feet high... The automatic lights in the corridor don't turn on immediately, leaving you with your cell phone light to find the room..
Historical property
Right on the square. Old place with historical features. Small rooms with nice atmosphere.
Bien
Grosse flaques d'eau devant notre porte ... -
Es war ok für eine Übernachtung
Kelpo hotelli hintaluokassaan. Suosittelen.

Location good. Very vulgar and aggressive lady in bar. Very stupid - my opinion !
