I want to say this is an amazing hotel but I’m not going to. Our trip was great and there was nothing bad about the hotel, but there are a couple of areas to highlight for travellers that we were caught out on. The hotel has received a revamp to the exterior; the interior needs an update and modernisation. I’m informed the new group in ownership plan to do so. The rooms and bathrooms are in need of a spruce and the mattresses could be a bit more forgiving. The overall cleanliness was great and the hotel staff worked endlessly, like painting the Golden Gate Bridge, to keep the rooms tidy, but wear and tear makes their efforts seem in vein. The design is spectacular from the inside but this leads to overwhelming acoustics. Some wall angularity decor would help dissipate the noise. The noise of water flow from above can be an early morning reveille, along with the stomping of feet. The Spa, gym and pool are a separate building to the hotel. As a hotel guest you do not have free access to any of these facilities and there is a limitation to their use, especially with children. There is also a charge to use towels, despite paying for use of the spa/gym/pool. There is a ski/boot locker room in the basement, which is a fantastic facility, but you will be met with a resounding cigarette odour as you enter-exit the basement. Genuinely, a lovely hotel with welcoming staff, but just needs some investiture and the provision of inclusive facilities as advertised.
Different from thevordinary
An amazing concept which was clean and tidy. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Would recommend even if not intending to ski (we were passing through en route home from Greece)
Perfect location, clean and comfortable
Fabulous location near to the centre of town, great free shuttle service to and from the ski lift. Room was clean and comfortable and although there were groups of children staying at the hotel, it was very quiet at night. Good shower and plenty of space in the room. Great choice for breakfast and lovely bar/lounge area to relax. Staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the housekeeping staff who were very friendly.
Great location
Fabulous location for ski lifts and restaurants. The breakfast was excellent too. The spa facilities are separate to the hotel. Make sure you take flip flops and a towel or you have to pay to hire them. Entry to the facility is also at a fee each time.
The hotel has a very interesting layout. It was buiilt in 1937 and is similar to the Gugenheim museum in NY, in a sense that the rooms are arranged around a spiral corridor that goes up from the first floor all the way to the 8th. Advantages: the breakfast was very good, a lot to choose from. The hotel is very close to ski lifts - about five minutes drive and the hotel provides a shuttle bus. It is also a 2 minute walk to the center of the little town of Sauze d'Oulx where shops, restaurants and pubs are. There is a ski/snowboard rental on hotel premises (in the basement) with efficient with an efficient employee (thanks Randy). There are also lockers to keep the skiing equipment. Disadvantages: The hotel is really overpriced in the winter. I'm not sure why they call themselves VIP, as the hotel and the rooms are pretty basic. Furthermore, the hotel does not have its own swimming pool, but rather the spa complex is in a separate building next door, a short walk across the parking lot. We got two vouchers for free entrance, but we were there for five days. The entrance to the pool and spa are around 18 euros per person per day. The hotel does not have landline telephones between the rooms, nor do rooms have any kettle to make tea. The two elevators constantly malfunctioned. To summarize - not a VIP hotel, probably something like 3 stars, but the stay was still very enjoyable due to the hotel's location, nice staff, great skiing and the general athmosphere.
AVOID THIS “HOTEL”. This was probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in and resembled more of a hostel than hotel. The staff are rude and unhelpful. On one occasion we asked for a bottle of water (at approx midnight) and were told that it was not possible as the bar had closed. What type of hotel doesn’t even have a vending machine so that guests can purchase water? On another occasion we asked for extra towels and were interrogated as to the reason why this was required. The rooms are badly in need of upgrade and the beds are very uncomfortable. The spa which is at extra cost, is quite old and felt dirty. The hotel was extremely noisy making it very hard to relax. During our stay a group of school children (approx 70 kids) were staying in the hotel and they were let run wild. On numerous occasions there were knocks on our door by kids who then ran away. The noise was constant and unbearable, so much so that we spent as little time in the hotel as possible. When I asked the front desk to contact the teachers/guardians to have the kids more behaved my concerns were laughed off. We paid over €280 per night during our stay and it’s definitely the worst value for money I’ve ever experienced. I never once felt relaxed in the hotel and would never go back. I could go on and on with other issues ranging from torn carpets in halls to elevators that felt like they hadn’t been serviced in years. Overall it was a horrible stay that stained an otherwise enjoyable holiday.
An easy way to skii
If you want to ski without fuss this is a great place. Get the breakfast package. Ski rental on-site and free bus to the slopes. Couldn't be easier. Comfortable and staff are great.
The property was very nice and pleasant. The breakfast was delicious. The room very spacious and comfortable.
Ski weekend
Nice hotel, great spa. Hotel provided free bus to the slopes in the morning. All the staff were friendly and helpful
Excellent
Excellent. Couldn’t fault the hotel or location
Very convenient as they have a shuttle bus
Lovely hotel. Certainly not luxurious but clean, warm, grey views, lovely staff, good breakfasts, super shuttle service to the slopes and convenient ski lockup area.
Need to change towels livelyer but very good stay
Breakfast was great staff were great had to pay for spa which was a bummer apart from that very good
Perfect location
Room wasn’t cleaned one day so no towels very annoying but great hotel and location
Helpful and polite
People were amazingly helpful. We did appreciate their efforts to make our stay pleasant Thanks
AOK but...
All really good, except being charged €10+ for nibbles in the bar.
All good no complaints and good value
Excellent hotel
Hotel very clean and pleasant. Rooms lovely and big and very warm. Nice big windows in room that opened easily for lots of fresh air.
Hotel had good access local bars and skiing.
Group of 7 stayed for a skiing holiday. 1)Wifi is not great. 2)Water pressure is poor in shower 3)£20 to use spa facilities other hotel provide this as part of their service. 4) Hotel has an atrium and it can be noisy when people return at night.
Off-(ski) season delight,
Excellent breakfast- are ally wide range of choices, including an amazing array of cakes and pastries. The hotel was quiet with beautiful views, in easy reach of some lovely walks in the mountains.
Easter skiing in Sauze
Great location for Sking, close to lift and centre of Sauxe. The ski shuttle was also excellent. Our 2 storey room was fantastic for us with a 9 years old child.
Very pleasant stay, in iconic hotel. Internally no stairs, all rooms are reached by an internal ramp.
Good ski hotel
Really enjoyed our stay, this is our 2nd time at the hotel. Breakfast is of a good standard. Rooms and building could do with an upgrade but for the amount of time spent in hotel it didn't bother us. 5min walk to ski lift (clotes), hotel mini bus also on hand to take you to lifts if you don't want to walk. Good location.
Nice hotel and very reasonably priced
Convenient, reasonably priced and clean.
Nice place to stay for skiing.
Stayed with 7 mates on a ski trip. This hotel is at the bottom of a hill and a hard walk with Skis but the hotel provides a shuttle which is great. Easy Walk back past a few bars and Pizza joints. Would stay again.
Honest review March 2016
5 night stay to go skiing. Hotel was a huge disapoint due to it advertised it had spa and sauna facilities.... IT DOES NOT ! It has access to a spa next door which you have to pay to use...25 Euro each ! The Hotel should be rated 2 star only due to lack of facilities.
Decent 3* hotel
Decent hotel. Good breakfasts. Now have to pay for train station transfers which were free but now €25 each way this year. OK for group of 4 like us otherwise another additional expense! Didn't bother with spa adjacent to hotel at €12.50 per visit. Bathrooms not always cleaned during stay. Step half mile walk to Clotes ski lift but good exercise. Overall recommended if staying in Sauze.
Older unusual hotel, as it is round
This is one of the older hotels in sauze but has larger than average rooms for a ski hotel, with shower and bath. Breakfast was usual buffet with plenty of choice, didnt have an evening meal in the hotel as we were B&B All the staff were friendly, special mention for Ceasur at the bar.
Fascinating hotel, great service
Built by Fiat in the 1930's, the design of the hotel intrigues. EVERY room is at a slightly different level, and you can walk from the bottom to the top of the building up a spiral ramp. (There are also lifts). Lots of 1930's architectural features. First rate, english speaking service at reception and in the restaurant. Hotel's own ski bus every 10 min or so to the lifts. Less than 5 min walk to the centre of the town. Phenomenal view of the mountains from the restaurant and lounge. Just great.
Visiting an ageing auntie
Iconic hotel that sadly is ageing ,carpets wearing,Wifi flaky, breakfast not as it used to be,the scrambled egg was appalling and the bacon fatty and under cooked, but lovely bar and great staff
excellent transport arrangements to and from ski lifts and up town.
Nice hotel, but the spa pictured isnt part of it!
Well positioned hotel. Nice breakfast. I was only a bit disappointed that all the pictures of the spa displayed on Hotels.com are not actually part of the Hotel. They belong to the spa next door, which you can access for €20 per person for 2.5 hours. A bit misleading...
Nice hotel close to the ski slopes
Unusually shaped, rotundal hotel, with spiraled platform leading to the top, instead of stairs. There are also a couple of small lifts, but overall not too big a problem accessing the floors. The hotel is very close to the ski slopes and provides a complimentary bus to the ski lifts. Rooms clean and warm, with magnificent views of the mountains. Nearby village and shops enchanting.
Fantastic Hotel, excellent staff, gorgeous landscape and stunning restaurant
dated but nice, different and comfortable
Short stay as stop over. Good location and quirky. Enjoyed our short stay in a friendly atmosphere.
A quirky hotel with wonderful mountain views!
This was certainly a hotel with a difference. Circular in shape and although the corridors were a bit prison-like, the rooms were fine with lovely mountain views. Service was good and staff were helpful and spoke English. The village is a typical Alpine village with lots of restaurants and cafes. The approach to the village is not for the faint-hearted,(steep winding roads) but worth a visit.
SAUZE D'OULX - Excellent 4 Star Hotel
Excellent 4 Star Hotel. (Although I would comment that the free WI-FI was in fact unavailabe in the rooms and I had to go into the foyer)
Long weekend Skiing
I've stayed at the Torre a few times before. The staff are pleasant, the rooms are nice. The hotel is a little quirky. It has an art deco feel. It needs a little attention outside in the grounds. Some paving needs re-laying, the gates and railings need repainting. I noticed it is under new management so maybe these will be done soon
Really great hotel, don't have a bad word to say about them
Great hotel in Good location
Great hotel in good location.
short break
had a great few days skiing.found hotel very good an improvement on what it used to be like. clean rooms plenty of hot water good breakfast, friendly staff.
Great hotel
Excellent hotel. Ski lift just up the road and close to nightlife. Skiing excellent. Triple rooms very good.
Our stay
Nice spacious hotel. Clean, friendly and breakfast was excellent. We never ate at night time so unable to comment on their food. Bar staff were pleasant and helpful. Reception staff were happy to help. Overall a very pleasant experience and I would certainly book their again. Location perfect, wonderful view. Ski bus available from hotel.
Excellent for skiing
Friendly staff, comfy warm rooms. Walking distance to Clotes ski lifts. Mini bus to and from other slopes. Restaurant dinner food needs to be improved. Breakfast is lovely with large choice of pastries and cooked items. Will definitely recommend for a ski holiday.
A good hotel good food and views
The rooms are a good size, breakfasts were exelent, staff were very helpfull.
Brilliant hotel
Brilliant hotel, fantastic staff, would definitely stay again
hotel iconico , recentemente ristrutturato .
Disappointing Stay
Noisy and hot the whole night. I have selected this hotel because of the announced fitness and spa. Both have been closed without any prior notice.

Bel posto,sauze sempre divertente
Spa asukkailta(kin) 20e. Hotellista oma bussi hissille (mäki ylös), kaunis kylä, paljon ravintoloita kaikki 500m sisällä, halpaa viini 3e lasi. Paljon after ski, Assietta paras aperitivi paljon ilmaista syötävää. Lähin hissi Clotes. Ilman suksia Sportinia-tuolihissillä 12e (sinne skibus 3 min). Skibus maksaa kaikilta 2e. Rinteet 5 aluetta kauas, heti ekalla ylätasanteella 5 ravintolaa.
Bottennapp
Väldigt enkelt Hotel. 4 stjärnor borde vara Max 3 svaga.. Kan inte rekommendera detta hotell
Mer att önska
Ingen höjdar upplevelse. Tråkig miljö. Varierande grad på servicen. Spa upplevelsen under all kritik. Kan inte rekommendera detta boende
Ottime vacanze d’inverno
Staff molto valido.

Old hotel but ok, terrible spa- old and not cosy at all
