If you are visiting downtown Lima for a few days or a week, this hotel is good enough. Don’t expect luxury. It is clean and quiet. Hot water is present but it takes a few minutes to become hot. As it is close to a main road, you have plenty of restaurants to eat good food. Breakfast is good too.
The two times I called customer service was so rude, and when I got there, there was no hot water in the room.
Excelente localización y servicio de desayuno. La habitación estaba muy húmeda, y no fue posible manejar la temperatura. El baño limpio y con agua caliente, importante durante el invierno. El staff fue muy amable y ávido para responder preguntas.
This hotel offers just a room to sleep. The facility is dated but in a good location. The service provided just covers the bare minimum.
Hotel is located in a Center of historic district in close proximity to tourists destinations and restaurants.
Good basic hotel in historic area of Lima.
Kamana is a basic hotel in a good location in the historic area of Lima. The room was a good size and clean, but lacked character. Breakfast was basic but adequate. Staff were very helpful.
It's close to Lima historic squard.
Hotel lobby was great, rooms were a bit outdated
Everything good
Great place to stay in central Lima
Nice hotel in the center of Lima, room was clean, service friendly and a safe place to stay. Only complaint was the bed was more firm then I prefer and while the fan at was sufficient and temperature at night comfortable, this place has no air conditioning.
Our room was awful, beds were old and lumpy. Dusty premises and mouldy bathroom. Carpet was stained in our room. Pretty terrible overall
Location was great for being close to the central prt of Lima
This is a great spot for staying in central Lima—good for both Plaza de Armas and Plaza San Martin.
Meh
Great location! That was definitely the highlight, we tried the restaurant and were luckily too tired to care that is was blah. The beds were rock hard, and the rooms were basic. I wouldn’t go back but I would definitely find another hotel in the same location.
Nothing like the pictures
Our room looked nothing like the picture. The frame of the door allowed you to see in our room. The beds didn't have a headboard. They were twin beds. The toilet was broken and leaking. We had to push a chair against the door for safety. The room was humide ... So much our paperwork was curling .... staff was nice... Location is o.k.
I moved on as i didn't feel safe after confronting dubious characters during the day and moved to Miraflores for safty reasons.
Staff was kind and friendly. Taxi told my wife fare was 22 +3 Sol When I arrived at the airport he said the fare was $25 US
Lima is beautiful with many magnificent old Spanish buildings. The location of this hotel is good - very close to the main plaza and central Lima. You can just walk around for ages gazing at the beautiful old buildings and soaking in the atmosphere. There is the Metro supermarket close for buying food. Many good restaurants close for eating out. Very near to a central mall for shopping. The staff were efficient. I always felt safe - a doorman is always at the entrance to let you in. It is not a luxury hotel but the room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was good. Yes, I would stay here again.
Great location but not the best service for sure..
Hotel is on a very good location, staff was not very helpful since they were on their own stuff or phones. Overall i guess is worth the price, but i would find something else instead on a future trip since the service is far from expectation...
Close to plaza de Armas
10 minutes to get hot water, no flushing paper down the toilet.. pretty standard for Peru. Only thing going for it is location next to Plaza de Armas. Would not recommend.
Affordable and very safe, the staff very helpful
I was very safe in this hotel, clean and peaceful environment, the staff very helpful and respectful. KInd and generous to help in any need I thank you all of you because of even my visitors were very happy and comfortable
For the price I paid, it was good enough
Front desk, security me are very good and helpful Room was not clean, out side of window was full of garbage
Rough location
Located on a very small street. There was no heat so the room was very cold. The walls are paper thin we could hear conversations of people in nearby rooms, people outside and cars driving by. Our shower was connected by a vent to the room next door and we could also hear everything they did in the bathroom. The television did not work!!!!!
Poor hotel, wouldn’t recommend to stay there
The hotel is located in the historical area, close to everything, but the neighborhood was very noisy. We didn’t get any sleep, since the loud music from the nearby shops was playing until 12 am and the morning traffic starts at 4:30 pm. The room was not as pictured on the website, the amenities were old, the curtains were falling off, stained carpet, and old towels. We had to wait for 20 minutes to get the hot water running. We booked a taxi ride from the airport, but no one arrived to pick us up. For the money price, I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND TO STAY THERE.
Secured hotel near city center
This area is a little sketchy at night, but it is super close to the city center of Lima. The hotel itself felt very safe as there was a doorman/security and 24/7 reception which was very convenient since we had to leave for the airport at 5:00am. The room was fine, I think this was the only hotel we stayed in Peru (on budget) that had an elevator. The whole hotel was well put together. 20-30 minute taxi to airport (though it seems it takes no less than 30 minutes to get anywhere in Lima). *I speak Spanish
Old hotel
Not well maintained hotel; weird smells in the room, a mixture of cigarette and humid. Even when I booked a non smoking room, my covers had a very strong cigarette smell.
Big room
Huge room. Perfectly adequate hotel. Not much to do in the area though.
Staff very friendly and helpful and good food in the restaurant
Great location, noisy neighbours.
Hotel is located within easy walking distance of the Historic Centre and numerous restaurants. Unfortunately, the rooms have thin walls and I had noisy neighbours all 3 nights I was there. Also, the room I was in had no natural lighting (the windows opened into a storage room) so it was always dark.
Helpful staff and good overall location!
Great Hotel in the Center of Lima
Great hotel only two blocks from the plaza de las armas. Clean rooms, modern feel. No breakfast, but it isn't necessary with all of the great places for desayuno nearby.
Just a place to sleep
Only there for a night, landed late and left early. Didn't get a chance to try their breakfast. Hotel staff was okay, the lady who checked me in was okay nice, the guy at check out was just doing his job, not more not less. Location was the best thing, I had an early flight but I wanted to see something in Lima so I tried to walk around before heading to the airport and it was only 5 min walk to Plaza de Armas.
Clean, cheap, good location in city center, but nothing special of service.
Convenient and clean hotel in good neighborhood
Easy walking distance to central Lima. Good service and personally-cooked breakfast.
Our first trip to Lima
The hotel staff were great. It was clean but could use a little updating. The only problem was the noise outside.
subpar
If you expect a room to give you shelter, clean sheets, and a shower, all within walking distance of the Cathedral, Archbishop's palace, etc it's fine. If you expect a comfortable bed, consistent access to hot water, water pressure, or a neighborhood where you can comfortably walk alone at night, you'll probably be disappointed. Also, they double charged us for the room as they refused to believe our documents proving our stay had been pre-paid.
Kamana is not in Miraflores where most tourists seem to stay, but close to the historic center of Lima (Plaza de Armas, cathedral, and the president's palace) making it convenient for excursions. It's also a bit closer to the airport. The area seemed perfectly safe. The hotel itself was quite nice, and the breakfast was good by US standards.
Disappointed
Very disappointed from the minute we walked in. The room was clean(ish) but very unkept and worn down. Stains on walls, chipped paint everywhere, old springy mattresses. I requested a Queen OR King bed at the time of reservation and was given two single beds. I couldn't sleep next to my husband. Our room looking NOTHING like the photo on Expedia. Expedia rating of three stars, I would give it one star.
downtown, if you want to see the old dilapidated..
BEWARE: NO A/C I wanted to see the old downtown of the once posh Lima, but alas, it is now just dilapidated.
good
good
basic hotel in central lima
I had read the reviews so was aware that the hotel was nothing like the photos and not 3* but even so it was worse than expected. hotel is in a bad condition. the balcony door didn't lock and given the area we didn't feel safe. the staff were helpful tho and moved us to another room. the beds were very hard and bed head broken. bathroom wad clean though. I would recommend avoiding central lima altogether.
not like the pictures
i only had to stay here 1 night, so it served it's purpose. but it was nothing like the photos. the lobby is nice looking and there is a restaurant in the building. they serve breakfast in the morning. the staff was nice and there is a security guard outside during the day. it's within walking distance to the main plaza, which is great. however, the room itself was old and outdated. it was relatively clean, but not to the standard of a good hotel. the water in the shower took about 10 minutes to heat.
the right hotel
The price was great...the location was perfect. ..overall very good
great location, but in overall the hotel is to expensive for the peruvian prices
I had a pleasant stay at the Hotel Kamana. The staff were excellent, and the location of the hotel could not be better.
Very central to Plaza, Shops etc
I had a good overall impression of Lima and the Kamana Hotel suited my purposes very well, being central and convenient to major attractions and good shopping.
Kamana Hotel - Lima
Hotel was nothing like the online photo - it was dark, dirty, & the desk staff could not speak English. The room was a faded, sad imitation of the photo's that appeared online. I was collected from the airport & then charged a whopping $ 22.00 for the service - independent of the hotel. This was supposed to be included in hotel services.
Decent
Decent hotel.
Good location if you want to explore central of Lima but not great as you see in pictures. The room smelled like cigarrets, the bed was uncomfortable, no AC, the fan was too dusty to use.
Very nice hotel close to everything historical!
We got to the hotel and the front desk area just set the tone that this was going to be a good hotel for us. The staff was friendly and helpful and they had a nice breakfest with rolls and eggs.
A well-located budget accommodation in old Lima
We chose this budget accommmodation because of its location within old Lima. Indeed, all the attractions of the old quarter of Lima were within strolling distances, so too countless eating places and interesting shops. Very convenient indeed.
Good location close to historic Centro.
Overall the staff was attentive and helpful however the front desk staff needs some fine tuning. The rooms were only superficially cleaned. This hotel needs a major facelift.
Don't expect much.
We asked for 2 things at the check in- morning wake up call and early breakfast or any snack as we were leaving 4:00 am to be 3 hours early at the airport. Both services were promised and we paid for the breakfast. NONE of them were delivered. Luckily we set up our own alarm. On top of this, the receptionist tried to charge us for extra night.... Avoid if you can.
Stay away - looks deceivingly better on internet
Horrible worn out hotel, looks nothing like on the internet pictures. It is close to landmarks, old town - only advantage. Dust overgrowth on the curtain vallances confirmed my disgust. Wake up call in the morning 10 min late. Breakfast inluded, but we had to fight for it - when leaving for 8am flight, came before 6am (breakfast is served there only at 7?! - most hotels starts 5 or 6am to accommodate travelers), lights off no coffee... Front desk person at night assured us it will be waiting for us. Coffee and toast was made only when went back to front desk and threatened to dispute the charge supposedly for 2 persons continental breakfast included in the hotel rate... I am not too picky, but this is a hotel you dragging to come back after all day travels and city windering..,Stay away!!!
Very different from picture
Hotel is not as clean as on picture. Arranged for pickup but no one came
Crash for a few hours after arriving at 5 AM
Arriving from USA on early-morning flight, needed a hotel room for central Lima sightseeing and post-trip nap
Go elsewhere
The rooms are nothing like they appear in the advertisement. We booked a king sized bed in a city view room. We ended up with a double with a window facing a brick wall. The front staff was useless. The only helpful person was the lovely security guard who helped us get a taxi to the airport. It is in walking distance to some nice tourist sights. I wouldn't go out at night though.
Great place to stay for one night and price
Hotel Kamana is a place to spent the night before heading out to the tourist locations or flying back home. It is great for the price we paid. It is clean and the hotel staff were very friendly. While the bathroom looked brand new, the furniture, decor and bed, however, looked outdated. We were worried that our room was facing a major road, but we ended up having a good night's sleep. Breakfast is basic, but was very good.
You get what you pay for!
Good position in the Old Area of Lima! Staff were helpfull and had basic English, however the place was a little run down. If you just need wifi, a hot shower and a clean comfortable bed this motel would be OK! Earplugs may also be beneficial!!
Great clean and safe base for Historical Lima
We stayed here for 5 days in order to visit downtown Lima. We walked to most the sites from here. Located a few blocks from the main square and one block from the Metropolitan Bus system which can get you to the major centres of Lima like Miraflores quickly and safely. We also walked safely down to the spectacular evening Lima water fountains light show..
The worest hotel I ever stay
The condition of Kamana is very very worse and old. It's not clean at all ESP the blanket and the closet. I even found a cockroach in the room. But the worest thing I would like to say is the service attitude of the staffs. Not helpful at all for examples I would like to arrange a shuttle to hotel and had already made the request on the day before to the staff. He said no problem but finally didn't do anything. And I request in that morning the staff keep saying 15 mins more. Once I asked for the shuttle again another staff said no one arrange. This is totally unacceptable. And also the safety of that district really not good. So I highly recommended dun try to stay in that terrible hotel otherwise you must be regret.
Superb service
The receptionists went the extra mile to help us make arrangements for taxis and connections. They were professional and friendly. The breakfasts were fantastic. It was worth paying a little extra for this hotel in Cusco.
Great location downtown Lima
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size with a desk and night tables. The TV had many choices. The internet service worked well. The restaurant/bar offered a variety of food/drinks and anything we had was very good and well prepared and not overpriced. A lady affiliated with the hotel met with us and help us organize a tour and gave us useful information about Lima. The hotel also arranged for an airport pickup and drop off for a very reasonable rate. The only negative is the street noise but from the 4th floor it was not too bad and it didn't really start till 7:00am
Breakfast is fine. Otherwise, it is just a so-so hotel.
Run away!! Fast!!!
I have never been in a dirtier hotel. Carpets were not vacuumed for a long time. We as a group had 4 rooms and they were all disgusting. We slept on the top covers using our clothing to cover the pillow. I have never given a bad review about a hotel. Sometimes when I read the bad reviews I think people are too picky and should just stay home. This is not a case of “people being princesses”. If I can save just one person from the mistake we made I’ll be happy. The next day two people in our group woke up with bites that blistered. It’s funny how the pictures on hotels.com look NOTHING like the real rooms do (as you can see in the pictures). The room one of the couples had was painted that morning and the smell was still there in the afternoon so we asked to change it but the new room they got was so filthy they kept the original one. We booked a pick up at the airport but no one showed up. I called the hotel and was told to call back in 3 minutes and they will tell me how much it will cost to pick us up. I told him we were at the airport with many taxis so I did not need him to START arranging pick up. We got to the hotel in the morning and asked if we can have our breakfast because we will be leaving at 1.30am the next day. They said that today it’s too late but we can have breakfast at 1 am. Of course at that time everything was closed. I don’t really even care about the airport pick up and breakfast. Just the filthiness is so gross this hotel should be shut down.
worst hotel EVER!!!!
The hotel is so dirty we slept in our clothing on the top covers. The floor at the airport is cleaner
great location although pictures of the hotel rms were deceiving
great location as it's quite central to all the historical sites. pictures from the website was deceiving.
Great Location
Located about 4 blocks from Plaza de Armas and near Iglesia San Francisco, the City Wall Park and others. Our room was located in front of one of the main streets and you will hear a honk every 10-15 secs until sunset! This is an old building well maintained, the 2 elevators can hold 5 persons there is no AC but a wall fan circulates air. Room and beds are clean. Beds were really firm like having a board under the mattress. The male receptionst was to pragmatic, cold and impersonal. For the price paid just for one night on our way out of Peru it was a great buy!
Hotel Karmana
Stayed two days. area was not safe after dark for Americans. Room was not cleam,. Very loud at night
Not at all what expected
Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place. The photos look a LOT nicer than the reality. The place isn't too clean and it's very old. Location and closeness to main sights and the hotel staff are great, though.
This hotel has no Air Conditioning. It was extremely hot inside the room. It was cooler outside of the hotel. Other than that the rooms are adequate for a 3 star hotel. The hotel staff are very friendly and the location is very good.
Nice hotel near the government palace
The hotel was nice and clean and the staff spoke english which was very helpful for me! Very close to some of the tourists spots like the government palace.
Not like the pictures
We reserved a non smoking room with a king sized bed. However, when we got there we had a room with 2 single beds. We asked the reception to switch rooms and they gave us a smoking room with 2 doubles and 2 twins. The rooms do NOT look like the pictures. They are outdated, 70's attiere. The breakfast was good.
You get what you pay
Flight out of Lima got delayed; so we needed an inexpensive hotel that was convenient to the airport. Considering the price, I would have paid just a little more and stayed at one of the more established, bigger hotels. Kamana was basic (not necessarily a bad thing). The rooms were not exactly clean and the front desk staff was hit or miss. One gentlemen was extremely nice and helpful and the other couldn't care less that we couldn't understand each because of the language barrier. The highlight of our stay was breakfast - the staff there was really nice which compensated for the lack of options.
Lovely hotel in central historic Lima area.
Well sited for walking to the points of interest in central Lima, always felt safe, large Metro supermarket close by, staff very friendly and helpful, reception spoke very good English, guy on the door always had a smile and very willing to help. Plenty of hot water. Simple but very nice breakfast. Coffee to die for!
Close to Plaza Mayor / Plaza Armas
Clean mid priced hotel in central Lima . The staff helped me out with a room in another hotel when I needed to stay an extra night but they were full. Best part is the shower (no tub) that had HOT water. That's not something you can take for granted when traveling to Peru, at least if you're in a mid range hotel. It's within a couple of blocks of the main sights near the main plaza.
guard at the door, walking distance of grocery store, restaurants, and the sights, good breakfast, elevators, staff very helpful, room clean, had carpet
Good location for downtown Lima
I will recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to stay in downtown Lima and wants to be close to the main plaza, cathedral, and a great and inexpensive souvenir market next to the Presidential Palace (very safe, lots of policemen). We stayed in this hotel for two nights at the beginning of our trip, and then we moved to the Miraflores area (residential area) after our trip to Cusco and Machu Picchu. The hotel is basic, clean enough, and comfortable enough. It provided a decent breakfast and friendly staff. If you want a quiet room ask for a room in the back, although, the view might not be as attractive, it reminded me of some hotels in NY City. I noticed lots of European tourist arriving to this hotel one night; however, they tend not to have as high expectations as “some” American tourist do. We loved Old Lima…PERU in general. PROS: Location
Mrs
The price I paid and the room I got was not justified.
Confortable hotel nice location
my experience in the hotel is good, everything about the reservation was ok and the relation price/service is good.
short stay in lima before Machu picchu
Close to the main town and metropolitan station Good choice for hotel
Not too nice
Although we were close to the historical old town, the neighborhood seemed a bit sketchy. Our room was not nice at all. It was as if they were in the middle of renovating...bolts in the wall from headboards torn out, scuffs all over the walls, small beds that seemed more like cots. Traffic was very noisy too. Some of the staff were extremely helpful while others were almost rude. I guess we get what we pay for.
great location, poor quality hotel
Satisfactory, but it's location can't be beat... the hotel was not very clean. It's in poor condition and lacking of upkeep. Carpeting was dank and old, we were alittle skeptical of the cleanliness of the sheets... overall very poor quality.
Inbound transfer one night stand, or sightseeing
Adequate clean hotel with all the basics, right in the old downtown. Minor maintenance issues, but a good crew try to keep up. No air conditioning, which is fine during the garua, but Decmber to April you might sweat a little. Perfect for taking a few days to see the sights of the Centro, or for one night transfers from the airport to a bus. Many bus companies are much closer to downtown than to the airport, and the taxi downtown might take 30 minutes less late at night than in the morning.
Good for the money.
Location is good. Budget hotel with breakfast included. Lots of restaurant in the area. Stayed 3 nights but Friday night was noisy (I think it's Karaoke night).
ok for the price
The hotel is centrally located. Staff were ok. Very quiet after 10 p.m. A couple of complaints: 1) Only one towel for the two of us (of course I could have run down the stairs and asked for another one). 2) My bed sheet had some dirt on it. The sheet was laundered, so no big deal - still, the person making the bed should have noticed. 3) We were leaving early and they promised to have some sandwiches for us to take along since breakfast would not be set up yet. When we checked out there was nothing for us. Overall it was adequate, and for the price, the central location was great
Great hotel for everyone!
CONVENIENCE! Everything you want or need was close by, restaurants, attractions, banks, market and shops. The service and staff was great. Breakfast everyday at the hotel was delicious to get our day started. Our room was kept clean every day. No air conditioner but it was comfortable with the fan on. We stayed for 9 days, so it was a bargain for what we got. We will stay here again!
Everything you need or see within walking distance
We stayed for 9 days and it was great. I recommend this hotel to everyone. The room was kept clean every day. Breakfast included to start our day. Service with a smile. GREAT WIFI service. Close to or walking distance to a lot of things to do. Hotel, not expensive. Will come back next year and stay here.
In the Heart of Cowntown Lima
I spent 2 nights here. The street, at first glance, seemed a bit dodgy but after realizing the quality of the hotel, security etc., all was well. Room was clean and had everything I could have wanted. Staff were really accommodating and spoke English well. Location is excellent - right in the heart of downtown Lima - 10-12 blocks of interesting history. I would certainly stay there again and reccomend to anyone who wanted to spend a couple of nights in a central location.
Overall review
Good hotel, in the middle of the city. The location is a bit dead at night (never felt unsafe). Breakfast was good. Room was comfortable and staff were helpful where possible
pleasant stay
hotel was very convenient to the old part of the city, putting major attractions within walking distance. hotel staff were very helpful with tourist advice. the hotel itself is not "flash" but is well suited to the traveller who puts convenience above style.
Excellent location.
It was a 30 second walk from the main downtown streets. Close to historical sites, supermarket, money exchange. We received a good hot free breakfast at the attached restaurant. Hot water shower and clean washroom. No view from my room, and a little bit noisy from traffic.
nice staff
We had 3 nights in this hotel in different rooms . Rooms are airy but not good soundproofing . Lima is very noisy . Very amiable and helpful staff . We arrived at 6AM and they accommodate us though check in at 1PM . It was very pleasant .
Great hotel in a great location
Kamana Hotel is located in the heart of the historical district, only a few blocks from the Plaza de Las Armas, as well as the Plaza de San Martin. The hotel was very cleanly and the matrimonial suite was very large. Room for a table to dine, as well as a king size bed. Very open and nice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit the historical district of Lima.
The Kamana has a a very friendly and helpful staff. The location is perfect if you are looking to explore the old Lima. Not a luxury hotel, the rooms offered acceptable comfort and cleanliness. The complimentary breakfast was a great bonus. If you want to see the real Lima this might be the right choice, Miraflores may be somewhat insulated. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Lima considering a 2 or 3 star hotel. The photos make it look a little better than it is but really not a disappointment.
Cheap and you pay what you receive
Not a great hotel, but is for what you pay... you can`t expect a great place. Photos as in every hotel of this kind are misleading.
City centre location
Basic but comfortable accommodation. Location couldn't be better for city centre sights and shops. Plenty of eating places close by. Staff speak English and were very helpful. Will store luggage if needed. Good value for money.

Good enough if you want to stay close to downtown Lima
