This is a very nice property with an incredible history. You can’t beat the location. The double room is so tiny - difficult to find enough space to navigate if there are two of you. Bathroom is a fair size but the sink is no bigger than the airplane sink so difficult to wash up. Frankly speaking, I recommend reading in advance which I failed to do so, beforehand about Jose Nogueria’s participation towards the extinction of Selk’nam natives. My conscious tells me to choose otherwise next time.
Good location, very limited parking despite showing as included. Beautiful building with a nice bar that we could not use due to private event. Room standar, not very spacious. Bathroom seemed renovates. It is a good choice to be in the city. Breakfast could improve especially choices of bread, sweet bread and have a better coffee
Bathroom is updated but the room is small.
Beautiful building however services, rooms and staff could be better for the nightly price.
We booked a suite, to find it was 1 small hallway with a sofa and desk, leading to a bathroom, but then 4 steps up to a bedroom! Which is not ideal when you're 70 something!! Surely 4 steps between one area and another of the same suite should merit a warning that this could be the case! But there was nothing else available and reception gave the impression of not caring about it at all! Not impressed, and wouldn't even consider staying there again!
Very beautiful building. Fantastic place to stay!
Connection to Shackleton history
Beautiful restored mansion
Lovely room with updated bathroom. Service in bar was less than 5 star.
Pretty and historic hotel. Well maintained. Private parking onsite but the area is very small. Service overall was good.
Nice historic hotel, clean and comfortable
Beutiful old building. Staff was great and very helpful. The room was updated but very small. The town itself is not great. Easy to see that it was nice at one point but not anymore
Very classy, antique building.
Loved the food and lattes. The hotel was absolutely stunning. Staff were kind and supportive.
Everybody was very helpful, especially the woman working breakfasts. Thanks for a great stay! The only suggestion i have is to keep a fan available for hot days. We could have used it the first night.
Punta arenas
Wonderful place to stay. Great location, super breakfast. Friendly stay beautiful restored building. Rooms a bit small but very well modernized. Clean.
Good situation, but staff and management park cars and block the entrance and exits without caring. Shackleton bar is closed which is a disgrace to historic remembrance and why many people go to the hotel. Poorly managed currently!
The room we're given was terrible, only had a tiny window towards the floor. The service was terrible too: we reserved a taxi to go to airport, but the front desk didn't call until we checked out - we ended up calling Uber ourselves. The breakfast options are very limited.
A wonderful hotel in Punta Arenas, in the most emblematic and historic building in the city! We will go back some day!
This is a historic property, which means they have kept up the outer facade but have not invested in anything on the inside. No water pressure. No hot water. No amenities. Skip this stay
Hotel Jose Nogueira is conveniently located in near the city square. It is part of or attached to a historic home, the Sara Braun house. It has lots of interesting paintings and memorabilia from the Shackleton voyage to Antartica. There is a bar and restaurant but seems to be run separately. Our room was large and it was quiet. The reception was very helpful
Very helpful staff at the front desk. Excellent service
Good location but the facility is old
Great historic hotel
Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room. Great selection of foods at breakfast. Be sure to check out the Shackleton Bar!
Excellent location. Great staff
Lovely stay, centrally located..I highly recommend this hotel.
Beautiful hotel right in the city center. Very charming with lots of history. The hotel has a lot of interesting historical information on site. We loved the bar with the paintings depicting the Shackleton Endurance expedition. The staff was very helpful. I highly recommend this hotel when staying in Punta Arenas.
Es un hermoso e interesante lugar, con una atención excepcional.
Excellent hotel
The staff were very helpful in helping us get a covid test for travel. The rooms are beautiful and the location is the best. Had a drink in the cozy bar. Overall it is a great hotel.
Great stay in Patagonia
Great stay at an awesome property. Lots of history in the building. Food and drinks in the bar were great, and the staff was extremely helpful. Would love to come back.
Absolutely beautiful and historic hotel. Patricio checked us in, with the safest Covid protocols and was very friendly, (the entire staff is!). Only wish our stay was longer than one night.
We had a suite room with a king bed. It was clean and comfortable. No issues with any of the amenities. Staff was polite and helpful. Our plane was delayed. So we didn't arrive until 2:30 a.m. and someone was up and waiting to check us in. Our room was basically quiet, there is some street noise, but not eough to keep us awake. We slept well. Breakfast was very good.
Exceptionally helpful front desk assistance from Evelyn.
Perfect old school hotel in city center
This is a very well located and convenient place to stay. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly and the breakfast is very ample. The rooms could use an update, but are clean and roomy.
Worst hotel experience ever. We arrived at the hotel at 11 pm. Protest demonstrations were in progress close to the hotel. A single middle aged female clerk was the only staff person at the hotel and she locked the glass front door after we entered the lobby. There was no one t assist with the luggage. There was no security personnel at the hotel. Within 30 minutes of our check-in a full scale riot broke out directly in front of the hotel with rocks being thrown at the hotel windows, much yelling, and banging on doors and windows. This continued for several hours. The hotel then lost power. No heat, lights or electricity in the rooms. No back up power generator. With no security at the hotel we really felt our lives were in danger. We checked out at 9 am the next morning still in the dark.
Shabby and dilapidated. The sheets were clean but the blanket was worn and tattered. Wallpaper peeling. Room small with a small, high window resembling that of a jail cell. We left to go to a better, newer hotel nearby.
Good location beautiful hotel
The building is beautiful & historic & centrally located. Bar staff was excellent. Our room was facing a noisy street so the manager was very kind to change our room for us. I don't know the manager's name but she was a young woman with dark brown hair. She's great. On the other hand, there was another front desk person - middle aged woman - that probably should not be in this role. She was nervous & confused & did not make us feel comfortable, especially with us being unfamiliar with the area. She provided no confidence in anything she did for us. Her actions made us feel nervous - like she didn't know what she was doing or she was very unsure of herself. This is not good for the hotel.
Beautiful historic building ! Very well located in the heart of Punta Arenas.
The reception was great and showed us around, room is a bit small but service is great!
The biilding is a beautiful historic property. But, inside like a 3 stars hotel. Bad bed, basic bathroom, old tv..
Very nice with favorable price. Very good food, central location, near bus terminal. Person at checkin was nowhere to be found for 15min, then appears and writes down that we want a wake-up call but that never happened. Still, would recommend the place.
This is a historic hotel. The display concerning Ernest Shackleton in the bar is particularly good
Very historical
Lovely old building with some great history. Room was lovely, and we'll maintained. Breakfast was excellent and we were offered freshly prepared eggs.
Like: central location Didnt like: scrambled eggs smelling of garlic. Street lighting illuminating the bedroom all night. Inflexible checkout system. Tiny cramped lift. No help with luggage. Very over priced hotel. Have stayed in genuine 5* hotels for a fraction of the cost
Beautiful building, well situated, nice people, comfortable.
Is in a great location and a very historic building. Our room was huge and looked out on the main square.
very nice hotel. enjoyed the history that came along with it. in walking around PA, I cant imagine a nicer hotel in the city. a little pricey but worth it. and the staff was great. very helpful and courteous all around. breakfast was excellent. the sunroom is very relaxing.
The front desk staff is great. They will help you with taxis, day trips, directions, and more. Former mansion where Shackleton stayed after his amazing self-rescue. The rooms are plush and beautiful.
The Hotel Jose Noqueira is a beautiful historic mansion that has been nicely transformed into a hotel. The room was attractive, albeit a bit noisy on it’s street side locale. The location right on the Plaza de Armas cannot be best, and there are ample dining options in the area. Our tour book warned of the sub par service, and it unfortunately is true. Staffed with young people in dire need of training in the hospitality industry, I couldn’t tell if they didn’t know, or just didn’t care about their jobs. I travel frequently, and err on the positive side and try to give credit, but the service is not fitting it’s location. On a positive note, the Taberna Restaurant in the hotel basement which is not affiliated with the hotel at all, was stellar, both for cuisine and cheerful wait staff.
Five star hotel staff
Nice hotel, the staff was the best. Desk clerks went above and beyond to ensure our stay was great.
We stayed here because of the Shackleton Bar. I know it sounds weird but it’s true. The front desk staff was exceptional, helped us with tours, boarding passes and general knowledge. Besides Shackleton Bar don’t miss the bar/restaurant in the basement. We ate there twice and both times it was good. LOVE the atmosphere. Breakfast was outstanding, they will even do eggs the way you like them. Do not go to the Beagle restaurant down the street a few blocks. It’s horrible!
Excellent 2 days in this charming hotel in a very important historic building right in the centre of Punta Arenas. Taxi booked by hotel to meet us at the port arrived punctually and were able to check in early. Room with very high ceilings and opening windows ( though it was very windy so not very practical!) Bathroom compact but nonslip rubbermat in bath thoughtful. Minor issue with flushing mechanism of toilet which we resolved ourselves but did report. Delightful sitting around spaces on ground floor including the cosy Shackleton Bar ( which shows English Premier league matches and has extensive bar menu) the conservatory with grapevine and the lobby itself.Staff friendly and helpful and most spoke very good English.Buffet breakfast limited but plenty enough with fruit, cereal, bread+( cheese, jams and meat) cakes Location very central with tree filled Plaza de Armas across road, Regional Museum around the corner, on a major shopping street and 20 mins walk( steep last bit) to viewpoint and 15 mins to waterfront promenade( lots of traffic but good walk by sea with many birds nesting on old jetties)
Excellent
The hotel is located in the city center. Facilities are well updated. The bar and restaurant is fantastic with a really nice setup and a good selection of tasty foods and drinks. Highly recommend this hotel for Punta Arenas. Service at the bar and restaurant and the hotel is very good. The breakfast buffet is good but no hot foods. Wifi is not working consistently. The room is relatively small, but the bathroom is standard size with the tub.
Great Location on the Square
This is a classic old building, and very well kept. Excellent location in central Punta Arenas, right across from the square. Nice bar and cafe at the hotel, and other excellent choices nearby.
I've heard it is really is a crap shoot when you book a room here. you either get one of the spacious rooms or you get a closet-sized room. I was fortunate enough to get a decent sized room on the second floor. The bar is nice. the breakfst was good. the location is excellent.
Great hotel!
Interesting hotel! The staff were extremely nice, and the hotel has great character (in a good way!). Excellent location near the square and downtown shops and cafes. If you have a car, there is a small parking lot at the hotel, which was so much easier than street parking many hotels require in the city. The room was great, especially the enormous bathtub, which was a welcome sight after a long travel day. Overall a great stay!
Good hotel with historic charm in great location!
Good hotel with historic charm in great location!
The hotel is an older building and the facility ishows it’s age in places
The staff was very helpful.
two lovely days where the word ends
best location, supportive concierge, very nice restaurant. unreliable service, drunk waitress causing no breakfast in the morning, request for early lunch box ignored, request to save some food for late return ignored... yet, a nice hystorical site in the best spot in town. supportive consierge.
Centrally located
We stayed four nights at the Hotel Jose Nogueira on our way to and from the Falklands and to and from Torres del Paine National Park. Each time we returned we felt like it was home. The breakfasts are excellent with eggs made to order. Ronny the Concierge was one of the most helpful people on the staff. Yes, the rooms are smallish but the convenience of the location made this choice ideal. We could walk everywhere to our favorite Cafe Montt for delicious hot chocolate with yummy cakes and the Luna Restaurant for excellent seafood dinners. Just around the corner from the hotel there is an excellent souvenir shop for postcards, books, alpaca scarves and other lovely items.
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, spacious. Comfortable. Convenient.
Historic hotel with lots of character
We really enjoyed the hotel and especially Shakleton's bar! We also were upgraded to a suite with an enormous bathtub.
Historic hotel in a convenient location
We were pleasantly surprised at how this hotel was. Very helpful staff at checkin, the breakfast was good. The wifi was extremely fast.
Historic hotel nice rooms
Great historic hotel right next to town plaza. Very convenient.
Elegant old building in the heart of Punta Arenas.
Nogueira
Beautiful old hotel in downtown Punta Arena within walking distance to straits. Arrived late, no food available at all - had been traveling all day and we were very hungry - van picked us up early in the morning before the restaurant opened - wished hotel had some food service capability for odd hours - flights are limited and often arrive late - hotels in the Andes often pick up early.
Fue buena
Adorei tudo, suíte ampla, muita limpa, banheiro super novo.
Nice historical building turned into a hotel. Great location. Decent breakfast. Room and bathroom were very small we could not open our bags in the room. Overall, it is a good choice for one night stay at a hub city.
