Short walk to Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt, S Bahn station. Clean, well maintained room with small balcony. Helpful staff.
Horrible
This hotel was awful. there is a tram that runs right next to the hotel that resonates throughout the hotel every 10 minutes. the elevator also had a high pitch sound that came right into our room everytime someone used it. hotel was not accommodating on switching rooms. said all rooms are subject to the noise.
WiFi was spotty otherwise nice hotel
Friendly staff. Good breakfast. About a 15 minute walk from Viktualian Market area.
I will start my review off my mentioning I managed hotels for years and am well travelled (to 50 countries) and bilingual. First rule as a hotelier, when single females travel, you ensure their safety (not on first floor and away from elevators and stairs). This was not the case. Ive had someone try and enter my room before during other travels so I am acutely aware. My room was in first floor (I’m also convinced I got the worst room in the hotel, being woken up by the smell of burnt toast each morning from the restaurant). No peep hole on door either. My female friend and I each booked a balcony room (specifically said it in the room description, it was not a “request”) but when we arrived, her room did not have a balcony. They mustered up a room for her with a balcony but compared to my room, it was a palace. They actually downgraded her room until we said something (I guess you need to request a room with a bed when staying here too as that’s what the attitude felt like when talking to the front desk about it. So, I’m an Expedia gold member and one of the rooms is downgraded originally? The front desk didn’t care. They gave us free coffee in the morning but that didn’t make up for it, sorry. The rooms were clean and appreciated the towel warming rack in the bathroom as well as good water pressure and hot water. German rooms are notoriously hot but was able to get room to a nice temp. The cafe staff for coffee were very nice and the area is very convenient.
Everything was wonderful
Me and another female traveller stayed here for 2 nights. Very clean, felt safe, and the staff was very kind and was able to help explain the public transit system on our first day there (in English). Good location, within walking distance of some central tourist locations in Munich, and the public transit system was also easy to access from here as well. Would not hesitate to stay here again!
Pros: housekeeping staff is good even though they do knock on the door early in the morning. We didn’t need any cleaning and they were happy to replace towels etc as requested. Location- most places are walkable and eateries are closeby. Cons: we were in 315 in the old block. It was dated, bathroom configuration was such I had to squeeze between the toilet, basin, shower and door and I’m a small person. Bed was ok and I’m beyond words to describe those pillows. We’ve had a month in different hotels in EU and these were flat despite folding them. The hotel has no alternatives. The wifi is non existent in 315 and surrounding. Ive tried moving around the corridors with no success except to sit in the lobby to get a connection and even so it’s a hit and miss. I’d to top up my data several times to get some work done. Much as I hate a negative review but to spend our last 6 nights in 315 it has been a very miserable finish to an otherwise enjoyable cruise and time in different parts of Bavaria. I have asked staff to move us but their response has been the hotel is fully booked. Wolfgang the owner has reassured us that he’s in the process of fixing the wifi. I’m not sure, personally I would not allocate any room in the old block to any guest staying more than a night! It’s definitely not a nice room and we’ve stayed in many hotels in our lifetime.
Great Location, nice room, close to Christmas Market but very poor wifi in room. Had to go to the lobby if I wanted to check in to my flight, check the train schedule or buy online tickets.
Nice staff
Needs some upgrades.
Rooms need a remodel, they are outdated. WiFi did not work. When you complain about the WiFi they dismiss you and tell you you to use WiFi in lobby. But even then it’s spotty.
We enjoyed our stay in a nice corner room that provided a separate sleeping area for our daughter, which was perfect for our trip. The hotel overall was very nice and offered great value in a convenient location. While the TV remote stopped working on the second night and the Wi-Fi could have been better, those were minor inconveniences. You don’t travel for the Wi-Fi or the TV, after all. All in all, it was a great stay!
Great for Old Town visit
Excellent, modern, quiet and clean hotel close to Old Town and public transport. Staff unobtrusive but helpful and cheery if needed.
It was a very convenient location, walkable to all you needed, room was nice. Most staff was very helpful.
Great small hotel with nice staff, comfortable rooms and nice breakfast. Only wifi speed needs improvement.
1-Horrible sofa bed to sleep on 2-Car service from airport to the hotel price was 20 euros more than what hotel originally told me and it was arranged by the hotel. 3-room was musty and small 4-wifi is not great 5-location is good
Small room. Least welcoming staff of several places we stayed in Germany and Austria.
Walkable, 3min walk to the station and 5-7min walk to central.
Great location and loved the patio.
Very helpful staff and always there to help with everything you could need.
Nice clean friendly hotel
Great location, near Marienplatz and the market. Near the subway train too.
Near Metro ,can walk to main plaza .
It was overall a pleasant experience. Would potentially book another stay.
Thank you
Awesome Experience
this might be one of the best hotel experiences i have had. arrived in munich for oktoberfest, as soon as we checked in the concierge gave us a complimentary draft beer. super clean and close to everything munich has to offer
Great spot!
We had a room with a balcony. It was newly renovated and looked better than the photos online. We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff had left a little gift on our bed for us on arrival. The hotel itself is in a central location, close to train stations and Marienplatz. Only con was wifi connection was very spotty and became frustrating
I had to change the res w/in 6 hours and they said it was nonrefundable until Hotels.com intervened. Service was pretty awful. Regular guests were offered complimentary beer/wine on check-in. Not Hotels.com though! Staff was surly and abrupt in every interaction. Breakfast that everyone raved about in reviews was just mediocre. First morning, ran out of water while in bathroom; not just ran out but water just stopped. Rooms (we had a king suite) were very small and left no room for luggage anywhere. One complimentary water in room at check-in but had to pay like 5 euros for more. I lived in München for nearly 10 years and have visited often; won’t stay here again. Don’t recommend to any tourist! A few smiles and some courtesy from the staff could have easily earned this hotel a better rating but they didn’t seem to care.
The staff were nice, it is a great location for dining & beer drinking, and convenient to get to other sights.
Nice hotel with one serious problem, internet erratic, mostly unavailable in the room. This has been a reported problem with this hotel for over a year. Lousy management;
Perfect area, walkable to the old town. Very clean.
Great location! The hotel could use some updating but overall recommend!
Room was nice and clean. Location was great for both transportation and walking around. Wifi was terrible and the air conditioning turns off before reaching desired temp.
So convenient for walking to Marienplatz, Residenz Munich, Hofbrau Haus and many more. Restaurants everywhere. Parking in the garage next to the hotel.
This is a two star hotel at best . Our room was tiny and bathroom shower was super uncomfortable
Located central to major attractions and train station. Staff is friendly and respond to request very well. The area is relatively quiet and very safe. However, the room is a bit small and with a family of 3, we didn't have much room to walk around. There is a Italian restaurant right next to the hotel and it is highly recommended!
Great location, very central. Plenty of dining options in the area. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Great room and staff! Close to everything and offers easy parking next door.
As I have learned in traveling, no property is without its glitches. It finally comes down to how they are handled. The glitches here were a safe that didn’t lock and the light wouldn’t work. Everyone at the front desk was helpful.
Convenient Stay in Excellent Location
Great location in Munich's inner city - walking distance to major attractions and surrounded by excellent restaurants and bars. Just 2 minutes from S-Bahn station with direct line to airport and an easy tram ride to English Garden and main train station. Room had a nice balcony and effective air conditioning. While small and outdated with a basic bathroom, the room was very quiet. Beds were a bit soft. Friendly service and the prime location more than compensated for the dated accommodations. Will book again for future Munich stays.
Good location near major attractions, restaurants and train stations.
Non fussy eell run hotel with friendly helpful staff.
Great family owned spot!
Comfortable, clean rooms, perfectly located a short walk from the S-bahn.
Nice place to stay. Great location.
Nice hotel & location. Great staff.
Easy access to the old part of town. Easy access to those attractions.
Right in the heart of Munich. Walkable and convenient.
Great Loation
Very nice welcome from the reception manager, very chatty and informative. Great location only 10 mins walk to Marienplatz and really good bars and restaurants. Had to leave at 6.30am so never had chance to try breakfast
Great hotel and location and
Great location and friendly staff
Isartor - great apart from the wifi
Great stay. Only issue was the poor quality of the wifi. It dropped in and out. I was given the excuse that this was normal in Munich. But when I walked across the road to use the wifi in a hotel bar, it worked fine. This is not suitable for business travellers,
Good location and had ac which is not very common in German hotels. But room was small and extremely cramped for 3 ppl; extremely slow internet; uncomfortable bedding; no amenities like fridge or microwave/kettle
great spot and great staff!
a nice hotel spot and the staff where always very helpful and friendlily. The only note I would have for those using book sites is that there is not laundry services for guests, and the continental breakfast is not included, this is certainly fine but that might not be reflected on hotels.com.
Good hotel with great location for visiting sites in and around Munich.
Very nice hotel, great location.
Great location to City Center, many restaurants and cafe's near by. Would stay again.
Very convenient location, nice breakfast, overall very good hotel.
Good location, staff is friendly.
Very close to S-Bahn / U-Bahn stop. Many restaurants nearby; walking distance to Marienplatz. The room was large and clean. The front desk staff is very helpful and friendly. Two minor issues: 1) The safe is a bit too high up for me to reach easily, and not large enough for my laptop. 2) The shower/tub has a high step-in; it was a bit awkward.
Hotel Isartor is a brilliant property to stay in whilst in Munich. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly.
Central, comfortable & clean.
Easy walk to Marienplatz and attractions. Good clean and comfortable hotel. Staff very friendly.
The hotel appears to be a remodeled older property that was renovated in a thoughtful manner. The room was quiet, and an easy walk to the main tourist attractions in downtown Munich.
Excellent hotel to stay in - we had 3 adults in the family room with all 3 beds made up upon our late arrival. Very close and walkable to Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt, Frauenkirche, St Peter's church and shopping. We only stayed 2 nights, but we were happy with the hotel. Some of the staff could be a little friendlier to tourists, but all in all we would stay here again
Outdated but comfortable and quiet.
Spacious comfortable room. Central location. Within a few minutes walk from the main square, restaurants and cafes. Parking available at low cost. Highly recommended.
Love the balcony and room was comfortable. Very quite and 10 min to the clock tower, amazing.
Nice
The room was a very good size and very clean. The location was great. Easy walk to everything & access to transit. Lots of restaurants in area.
Showers were real tiny. Staff was nice & helpful.
Ich bleibe immer bei Hotel Isartor wenn ich in München bin. Alles was wunderbar! Das Comfort Zimmer war einfach herrlich und Parkplatz ist gleich dabei. Vielen Dank für Alles.
This property is just a few blocks from a s-bahn stop as well as only 10-15 minutes of walking from lots of tourist spots. We enjoyed our stay. Didn't love the bathtub with no shower curtain but otherwise the room was great.
Enjoyed stay
Excellent
Hotel Isartor was excellent. They have very good rooms, in best location of the city which allows travelers to have walkable distance to metro stations and city center. The staffs were very friendly and respectful! I strongly recommend this hotel.
There was a parking right next door, got validation from hotel and it was free. All I paid was about €100 for one night. Plenty of scooters outside, to be able to get around and explore. It was a solid location for me maybe not in central area of everything, but for the price, it was a good deal. Some places in Europe I have to pay for both the hotel and parking, so it was a solid deal, stay, and location.
Overall a nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The room was very basic but comfortable.
Fun in Munich
Great location. This is a family owned Hotel. Easy walk to Munich Market and Matienplatz. 2 blocks from Subway. It’s close to a park and I think the neighborhood parties here on Friday and Saturday nights so it does get a little noisy but I like to hear people laugh and have fun. The people at the front desk are amazing and very friendly.
Friendly staff Clean rooms Convenient location Enjoyed Sauna and breakfast
Very friendly staff and clean property. It's located close to the old town and landmarks.
The hotel was tidy and clean, and had a world-class breakfast, and the front desk staff in the morning (I did not get his name, but he had blond hair and the biggest Barvarian smile you could imagine). He was funny, kind and so helpful. I would definitely stay again.
Misleading room photos, old carpet with smell
Unfortunately, my husband and I had a regretful experience with the hotel. When we booked, we saw the room pictures of the smart TV with quite a few nice media platforms available, like youtube and Netflix, we thought that could be a relaxing place for us to stay. However, after we got in the room, it was nothing like that. The TV only had a few basic cable channels, and the carpet looked old and smelled not good. We immediately decided to check out without touching or using anything in the room, and told the front desk the reason we left. At the time, the lady at front desk was very understanding and asked us to cancel the stay on Hotel.com to get refund back. However, when we actually did that, the manager declined my request. Very unpleasant experience for sure.
Wonderful Hotel
Amazing front desk staff, clean hotel and convenient to Marienplatz
Great location, nice facility, good amenities,
Munich Stay
Thoroughly enjoyed the stay at Hotel Isartor. Very conveniently located, and the staff were very friendly
Easy, great location
The location is great for exploring the old city of Munich. Everything is walkable and there are plenty of places to get a good meal close by. The rooms are clean and well looked after. I really dislike the bedding that just has a duvet and nothing is tucked in but that is my peeve, nothing to do with the hotel. All in all I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thanks to all the friendly staff for making this a good stay.
Great hotel near public transportation and near downtown. Most definitely stay again.
This is a family run hotel which is in a good position within Munich, however, it’s a little dated. The bathroom is small and poorly laid out, there should be a shower where the bath is, it’s an accident waiting to happen. As it is, the shower over the bath sprays out water, so we asked for more towels. We were asked to collect the towels from reception and then asked how many towels we had, my partner replied, ‘not enough’. When the room was serviced the next day, the extra 2 towels we were given were removed! Ridiculous! Not the kind of service I would expect.
Pleasant stay! Staff were fantastic. Close to lots of restaurants/eateries as well as the transit system.
Wonderful service at a great location!
Staff at breakfast especially Zakaria ,he was very courteous and responsive to our needs . Very passionate to serve
Great location and friendly staff!
The property is in a great location, comfortable, and the staff are extremely helpful. It is in walking distance to Marienplatz and tons of great restaurants and shopping. The elevator is spacious.
Staff exceptionally charming and helpful. Room and en-suite very clean. Ample choice at breakfast. Easy reach of S Bahn station. The hotel is an excellent choice. Many restaurants within walking distance. No grumbles !
Clean, comfortable rom. Loved having the balcony. Excellent location. Delicious buffet breakfast included a tasty, fresh and varied selection of food. The gym could use a mat, and some new free weights.
Clean hotel and a good breakfast. Staff was so helpful.
A very nice room for the price in a central, convenient location. Management and staff were exceptional! Very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was really good. It exceeded my expectations by far. I will definitely stay at this hotel again the next time I visit Munich.
Very comfortable, reasonably priced hotel a ten minute walk to the Marienplatz. Also right by the Isartor Sbahn stop with a direct train to/from the airport. Quiet at night, nice sized room, very clean, excellent buffet breakfast. Overall a great place to stay and we would stay here again when next in Munich.
Nice room and helpful staff, and breakfast was great! Close to public transportation centers and good area restaurants.
Great little hotel: super neighborhood, easy check in, great breakfast
Wonderful Service, comfortable , clean room
The Hotel is very close to the Christmas market, just 8 minutes walk. Breakfast was continental, with lots if choice. The room was spacious and clean. When i asked for additional pillows, i got them swiftly. They managed to get me a table at a local Bavarian restaurant that was fully booked. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Thank you to Wolfgang who ensured I had everything I needed.
Excellent Hotel
Excellent hotel. Would recommend and will use again.
Amazing
Beautiful hotel in nice area. It was close to city center where all the action is but hotel was quiet and clean. Staff were friendly and attentive.
