Hotel Imperial is the finest hotel in Vienna. Built as a palace, it has gorgeous lobby areas and restaurants. The rooms are unusually spacious with magnificent furnishing - chandeliers, heavy draperies, large marble bathrooms. Service staff are gracious. The whole atmosphere is elegant and is designed to make visitors feel they are truly in Vienna. Unlike similar hotels (Ritz, Alamanac, etc.) this hotel retains its palatial splendor throughout. The location is also perfect - walking distance to everything - though I would have been happy to remain in the luxury of my room! This hotel remains one of the great hotels of Europe and I look forward to returning soon and often.

Very very very good place

Not up to standards for “The Luxury Collection” at Bonvoy. Have stayed in other Bonvoy Luxury Collection hotels and Hotel Imperial suite amenities need upgrading. Finishes and fixtures are builder grade and from the early 2000’s. Very shocked at lack of quality bathroom fixtures, bidets, shower, AC in room non-functioning, and furniture condition. Finally, Bellman was extremely rude upon arrival bc we were dropped off at the back entrance to hotel???

My absolute favorite hotel in the world, and I have been to over 34 different countries. So that’s saying a lot. Staff is amazing. They are the ones who made my stay wonderful.

Great place to stay

Beautiful hotel… not a summer option for me

The hotel is beautiful and it’s history is pristinely preserved. We stayed for one night as we had a layover during the summer. It was hot and they have the thermostats regulated in terms of what temperature you could turn it down to. It was so hot the only alternative we were given as ordinary people was a fan. I was unable to sleep all night which made the 18 hour journey home next day miserable. I’m sure they don’t say no when other heads of state or VIPs stay there but they said no to a regular guest paying $600/nt. I’ve been to other hotels in Vienna during the summer who will not do this to their guests. So this will be a pass for me during the summer.

Classy hotel but the amenities were a tad outdated and the bathrooms needed renovating

Iconic hotel. Great location in walking distance to a lot of attractions. Great service and very accommodating with an early check in and connecting rooms. It felt like a huge apartment. Bathroom was small but in good condition.

The hotel is elegant, the staff are unfailingly helpful and "correct," the (genuine, French) champagne breakfast buffet is luxurious. The room was very comfortable with the amenities of bathrobes and sippers, plush towels, chocolates placed on the pillows in the evening, even, as it was Easter weekend, an Easter basket. The large, marble bathroom had both a cavernous European soaking rub and two-meter long shower. It is truly a five-star hotel, and, of course, with five-star pricing.

Only negative which is only a minor issue is the tub shower with shower curtains and shower head that sandblasted skin off. Not a deal killer though.

Great service beautiful accomodation

Everything about the room was very clean

We loved our stay at the Hotel Imperial, which has an impressive lobby and a beautiful classic room with high ceilings, and windows that swing open to fresh air and a lovely view of the city. The front desk staff was very welcoming, which was appreciated after an overnight flight. The luxurious bathroom was excellent, with a large standalone shower and the longest bathtub I have ever enjoyed. The Cafe Imperial had an excellent lunch, and the gorgeous bar off the lobby was a wonderful place to end an evening... bartender is fantastic. The buffet and made-to-order breakfast is quite good, but only if included in the price.

Quintessential Vienna

Old school Vienna but none the worse for it - on the contrary, its a beautiful place to be: the bedrooms are sumptuous and the hotel is perfectly placed too.

I had wanted to stay at Hotel Imperial for many years and it was everything I expected. Thank you Hotel Imperial.

Check in was an issue took payment twice, upon check out they charged our card again, took us to our room and it wasn’t ready after waiting 2 hours. They did give us a bottle of sparkling wine but the excitement was lost due to the issues.

This is a really impressive hotel in an excellent location and friendly, helpful staff. The concierge was particularly helpful during our stay and they prepared a really nice surprise for a celebration we were having.

Wonderful place!

Lovely and friendly staff! Very kind and helpful. My wife lost her earring, and the staff was able to retrieve it in five minutes! Would definitely come again.

the best hotel we have ever stayed! historical, classic, but clean and modern at the same time. I notified them that this trip is for our honeymoon and also celebrating pregnancy w our first child and they decorated room w real floors and provided non-alcohol champaine. it was very thoughtful and warm welcoming. loved all the staff. professional and kind. recommended 100%!!

I have stayed @ this hotel before which is why I returned again this year. I was completely satisfied about every aspect which this hotel provides every time when I have stayed here. It is undoubtedly also one of the most beautiful & well managed hotels which I have ever had the pleasure in staying in. I requested a guide to take me to the Esterhazy palace as my fa votive composer is Haydn & that also turned out to be one of the best of my European experiences since I began traveling to Europe >50 years ago. All of the Concierge staff were par excellent & I even had the opportunity to attend a new version of the opera LaTraviata which turned out to be sold out & the best version of this opera which I have had the pleasure of seeing & I have been going to the opera since I was a very young man. I also can not say enough good things about the people of Vienna overall which is what one might expect from the music capital of the world. I also was scheduled to be collected @ the airport by an excellent limousine service even though my flights were sadly delayed by several hours x 2 the drivers were always there to greet me & take me straight away to your wonderful hotel. The restaurant provides excellent food & pastries without par. To make a long story short staying here is like returning back the clock to the age of 19th century splendor with superb staff who made my stay with them almost like an adult fairy tale where you have a polished experience in every way.

Best hotel in Vienna.

The Imperial has to be one of the great grand hotels of Europe. It is a splurge to stay here but we’ll worth it if you can afford it. The staff is outstanding and willing to help in every way imaginable. Very highly recommended!

True Gem

This hotel is absolutely adorable, rooms are spacious, new/updated, technology savvy with lights that turn on when you get out of bed on the floor, Wi-Fi connection to play music in your bathroom! May be my favorite hotel. I normally stay at hotels with excellent rating & 5 ⭐️

This is a grand building with quite a bit of history. The hotel staff were gracious and friendly. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are very nice. The ambiance is one of old world decor but it does seem dated and very traditional. The food options are limited to mostly Austrian cuisine. I enjoyed my stay. Thank you for your hospitality!

The property itself is a historic icon with truly imperial architecture and arts appointed in every corner of the property. Every worker is super professional and friendly. Concierge was super helpful in getting us premium tickets to the sold out Carmen performance. Phenomenal hotel.

This hotel was amazing. From the building, the staff, the room, the service, the location, etc, this stay was wonderful. 10/10 would go back again.

Just fabulous. The place is amazing, a real experience, staff lovely - friendly and helpful - and our room was beautiful. We ate at their Opus fine dining restaurant and it was amazing. Breakfast is good, service is excellent, bar is lovely. The location is convenient for everything you need and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Definitely a 5 star hotel with all of the services you would expect to go with it. I really couldn’t recommend it higher. All of the staff were par excellent.

Stellar. Exquisite. The superlatives are many. A memorable stay at a 5-star gem. Staff efficiently answered any questions we had regarding our lovely Vienna visit. And organized full takeaway food and drinks for our early morning departure. The worst part of our stay was the crow bar required to pry us away from the premises.

Great stay at Hotel Imperial, Vienna. Staff was very professional and honored the 5 stars the hotel owns. They made our stay a pleasure experience, and most likely will return to the same place when visiting Vienna. The hotel needs some small touch and adjust some small details , like taking care of the old windows frames and maybe upgrade them more somehow, but the worked they ve done with upgrading rooms is really amazing for hundreds years building.

Excellent service with friendly & competent staff. Good amenities & clean facility. Flies inside cafe & weak water pressure from ‘overhead shower head’ are minor distractions. With few exceptions, room cleaning & turndown service were excellent in spite of staff shortage.

A superb luxury hotel right in the heart of Vienna

From the moment you arrive you are made to feel very special. The hotel is luxurious the rooms are large and furnished beautifully. All the staff from doorman to reception are extremely friendly and very attentive. The location of the hotel could not be better it is only 5 mins from the state opera house and easy walking distance to most of the attractions of Vienna. It is an expensive hotel but it is definitely value for the money you will spend.

Old School Viennese Style, Perfectly Executed

Oh wow, what an experience! Everything is perfect in this very traditional hotel. Old-school attention to detail and high standards. We felt very welcome — and very spoiled — at this beautiful hotel! Bravo staff, you are wonderful.

The Imperial is my favorite hotel anywhere. It is absolutely magical. The bar is magnificent. All of the staff, every single person, was friendly and helpful. You can't go wrong.

Fabulously fabulous

The hotel itself is full of character and history. The facade was under renovation whilst we were there but unless you were on the outside looking in, you never knew. The staff were really lovely and as other reviews mention, they seemed hell bent on making sure you were welcome guests enjoying your stay. I really couldn’t praise them enough. Our rooms were upgraded and they were exceptional. The only draw back was a lack of kettle and tea/coffee. Maybe this is just a peculiarly British expectation. If you desperately want that early cuppa in your room, you could try asking or just travel with your own kit. The location was superb. Ideal for walking on foot, getting the tram (which was so easy to use), visiting sites, attending concerts and shopping. An absolutely brilliant stay which I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a really special visit to Vienna.

Love this place!

I booked this hotel based on a personal recommendation. If you would like a true Vienna experience this is the place. The staff was extremely welcoming and immediately changed our room without question when we discovered a strange odor upon arrival. The bed and linens are very luxurious and you can tell all the employees take pride in their hotel. Looking forward to visiting again
