Was very convenient going places from that location.
Convenient and clean
Offered drinks on checkin. Close to bus stop so can get to Kyoto station for all the travels. Not many convenient stores nearby though. Would have to walk a bit to get some famichiki. Room was big though so that’s nice. If you’ve stayed at the APA hotels you know how cramped those places are. They’re good on a budget, but this place is also budget and clean and you get to set your own AC temp lol. The toilet is small though, gonna have to sit your whole butt on it.
Right on a bus route 15 minutes from Kyoto Station
Nice, comfortable rooms. A great central location to enjoy Kyoto from.
A nice hotel with great services.
The hotel is a little ways from some of the places I wanted to go to, but accessible by bus or walking. My room was clean and the bed was ok, the pillows were a bit flat and hard but I still had good sleep. The front desk staff were very helpful and gave me assistance trying to hail a taxi and gave me great directions when I was trying to go to several tourist locations. I felt very safe at this location and I liked that it was near a great public bath!
This place was nice. It was a 15 minute or so walk from a train station, and had convenient store around if you wanted snacks. They had a mandatory cleaning every 3-4 days, which meant our room got cleaned while we were there. They also had one of those showers where you could stand outside the tub and the water would still go down the drain. Internet was a little slow, but that's expected.
The property was kept in great condition. The worst thing is that the beds are so hard and uncomfortable. The property is also a little isolated but it’s quiet and people all around the bldg making lots of noise. I arranged for them to receive my luggage delivery and they got it and took care of it until I got there.
Greag location: close to to Kyoto Station and other key tourists spots.the staff was very friendly.Though the location waa great, it is located just beside a building that smelled very bad.
I wanted to like this place. They checked our bags early and brought them to our room, they had free non-alcoholic drinks during certain times, offered free bath salts, and it was in a great location close to some wonderful places. The size was also nice for a Japanese hotel. Unfortunately our room had a distinct smell when we walked in that didn't go away during our two night stay. There were also stains on the carpet and duvet and marks on the wall. All of the other stuff is nice, but that doesn't make up for the lack of cleanliness. Note that the smell can also be smelt outside, so I think it's the location, not the room. And as we only stayed two nights, it wasn't worth bringing up. I would not stay again, but assuming your room doesn't smell, it's actually a great place to stay.
Good service. Very helpful staff. Loved my time at this place.
This quite well located hotel was on a bus route to the train station and major attractions Amazing breakfast and drinks happy hour
A little far from Kyoto station, 13-15 min walk. Closest convenience store and dining options are about a 7 min walk. Front desk always cheerful and greeting guests. They were also multilingual and very helpful during check-in process. The daily breakfast buffet was average in taste, essentially the same menu every day. Happy hour is actually just 1 hour, but you can use it anytime between 4-9PM. Sadly, there is a weird stinky smell just outside the hotel, which is emanating from one of the adjacent buildings. You can smell this only briefly for maybe a few seconds as you're walking in/out. The inside of the hotel smells completely normal and clean. Unfortunately, my bathroom smelled faintly of urine even with the fan on the entire time. There was also no caulking between the shower wall and bathtub, so you could see visible black mold growing in between the gap. There was no mold odor however. The bathroom was otherwise very clean. The sink's water pressure was so strong it would splash out if you pushed the handle all the way up, so you have to be careful and lift it just a little bit. My TV also would regularly glitch out when trying to watch Youtube through the TV app, but the normal TV function was fine.
OK stay
Asked for a quiet room but the hotel didn't honor my request - they put me right by the elevators. The daily happy hour was fun.
Strange odd smell in the lobby
This was our second stay at the hotel. Again, it was great and the staff was very helpful!
Staff were very nice and some spoke English (helpful as we're tourists). Having cold drinks ready on the main floor after a day of exploring the city was awesome! Would highly recommend Il Verde.
Room was simple but had everything you need. The breakfast is great and the happy hour is even better! staff were lovely, located across the road from a shrine/park but you have to pay entry. There is an AMAZING Ramen place around the corner. 5-10 min walk from the train station
Popular with tourists
Stayed here on recommendation from a friend. Quiet, internet is great, located near central bus lines, Keihan trains and near JR Kyoto Station.
Best and cheapest option
Very good breakfast
Plentiful breakfast and good service. Location short walk to Temples and Kyoto Station, buses and the river. 24-hours free coffee, and free drinks (including fruit juices) from 9:00am - 22:00pm? at lobby, and son on.
Everything are perfect except the bed and pilllows are hard.
Excellent stay! Central area walkable to many spots
Nina helped me secure dinner reservations at a nearby restaurant. It was much appreciated.
The room was very small but comfortable for one person, and it was very clean, good sheets. There is a window which can be opened for fresh air. Breakfast is very basic. My room was on the 3rd floor and it smelled very much like flea repellant for animals, the smell was quite bad for me but luckily didn't go into the room too much. The air freshener they provide didn't really work to mask the smell unfortunately. The staff are amazing, efficient and friendly
Great hotel, saved us, wish we could go back.
We had a midnight emergency in that I was very allergic to something in the room at a nearby hotel. Finally caught on to it just before midnigght and booked this hotel last at 11:55pm. They were very accomodating and got us to bed in a very nice room within about 10 minutes if arrival. This looks like a great hotel, wish we had stayed for longer than 7 hours. Has an onsen (we didn't have time to use). The most interesting part is you leave your shoes in a locker at the enterence and the rest of the property is Tatami mats which are truly wonderful to walk on for tired 20k steps a day feet. A big thank you to this hotel for saving the night for us. Wish we could go back.
We loved the happy hour
The hotel is in a fine area, and the staff are friendly. Until there is a problem. My travel friend and I both got scabies and the cleanliness in general was below bar. When I politely confronted the staff about this they denied there being any problem. I asked for a refund, but did not get one, or any understanding of the problem. I also wrote to expedia about getting scabies, without any satisfactory reply. I have never given a bad review of a hotel before, and have stayed at the APA chain previously, but was very disappointed by this experience, and cannot recommend the hotel. This affordable hotel costs a lot more when you factor in getting treated for scabies, which is not in itself very pricey, but takes time and is a huge nuisance.
They lend us an umbrella which was very convenient, it is near to Kyoto Station
Il verde
Convenient location.Happy hour with free drinks. Good breakfasts
I recommend this place 100 %.
Everything was graet.
Not enough towels.
What a delightful hotel. The staff was great and the hotel was nice. They had a decent breakfast and dinner and drinks in the evening.
I liked their happy hour.
Room was very tight and crammed for three beds; hard to try and relax in. The toilet leaked. We had to ask for extra pillows and blankets. Staff were very helpful though, and sorted things out for us as best as they could.
Close to major temples & shrines.
Stayed for 6 nights. The hotel is about 1100 steps away from Kyoto Station and less from Shichijo station according to my Fitbit. I consider it a borderline case for walkability. Walk the right path and you'll find 2 convenient stores and several vending machines on your way to the hotel from Kyoto Station, so resupplying after a long day out wasn't an issue. The hotel itself is like a traditional business hotel with support for pets. There was a manga corner, a lounge, and 2 pay-to-use laundry machines. Staff was helping and friendly but apparently a number of them were on training. I stayed at one of the solo eco rooms, which means I didn't get any cleaning for the duration of the stay which was fine by me. Everything is pretty standard and as advertised including full amenity kits, a TV, a bathtub and an automated toilet, but there weren't any bathrobes. The main gripe I have with my room is the cleanliness aspect. When I first inspected the room, there were apparently food crumbles on the table, random stains on the walls, and there was a brown stain on one of the bath towels. What's worse, when I switched on the heating, it smelled really bad and upon closer inspection, I found mold inside the AC. I don't know if it's just an eco room thing. Considering the locale, the service, and amenities, I would've totally given it a 4/5 if not for the cleanliness of my room.
Super quiet in a nice neighborhood
Clean and comfortable stay. What I liked most in this hotel is the friendliness of the staff. They even took our luggage up to our room while we were out exploring and waiting for the check in time. Free drinks and coffee at their restaurant. They have a happy hour with free alcoholic drinks. Awesome breakfast at a reasonable price. Will definitely stay at this hotel next time.
The staff was really kind and there was a free happy hour on the main level everyday for hotel guests. There were a few nearby restaurants that were all great and family run.
It is a Eco property, so room cleaning was done every 5 days. Not great.
When checking in and there is 1hr free happy hour, some get very excited! About a10-15min walk to the Kyoto Station, but easily done. Staff are very helpful, even moving out bags to our room as arr had dropped them in prior to check-in and returned later in the evening for check-in. Coffee, tea, soft drinks and juice always available in the foyer lounge, which is a nice stop on returning to the hotel for a relax. Nearby supermarkets, restaurants, river walking and sights. A very pleasant and enjoyable stay location.
Excellent!
Very nice compact rooms and friendly staff. The free happy hour was a nice surprise! Close to train station. Highly recommend.
By far the best thing about the hotel is the wonderful staff. In our case, our room had an unpleasant smell that I think was water damage to the carpet, but the amazing staff, the included happy hour, and the great breakfast more than make up for it. It's around a 15 minute walk to Kyoto station and around 10 to the closest subway station, which is a little far sometimes, but overall great.
Well kept room that was very clean with friendly staff. Great and central location to stay in Kyoto. Will absolutely recommend.
Best part of the hotel was the free flow drinks including alcohol from 3-8pm for an hour! Hotel room is not too squeezy and amenties are pretty good! However the location of the hotel is about 10-15 mins walk away from Kyoto Station which was the only downside of the hotel. Nonetheless, a good experience!
5 star hotel in my opinion
Absolutely loved this hotel, staff amazing, hotel amazing. Cannot recommend enough. The amenities are fab free soft drinks, tea and coffee all day from 9am till 11pm and happy hour for 1 hour of your choosing between 3 till 8. Was a fab location had a lovely cafe/ reception area you could sit in and just chill. Loved staying here so much would deffo stay again .
They were very helpful. 12-15 minutes walking to Train Station
Good space, friendly staff, elevators floors could have been cleaner
Clean, tidy and comfortable property. Friendly staff. Walkable distance to Kyoto station (15 mins) and Higashiyama/Gion districts. Laundry needs additional dryers as wash/dry machines don’t dry very well.
Well worth staying here. Convenient location to hop on bus 17 on the way to Josho-ji .
The hotel is comfortable and quiet, and also provides complimentary coffee and beverages.
Great
Great pricing. The room was well sized and was clean. The location was good - short 10 minute walk away from Kyoto station. I would stay here again.
The hotel was very close to Shichijo station, which made it extremely convenient when travelling to Osaka or Nara. It was also a 15 minute walk from Kyoto station which allowed easy access to the other transit lines.
Pretty good!
Good value for your money! Clean, very helpful and courteous staff, and room was clean and comfortable. Location was a good 15 minute walk from Kyoto Station and neighborhood appeared to be quite safe. Grocery store was 5 minute walk away. Can walk to the Yasaka Shrine about 30 minutes away.
No service all. Staff not helpful, even don’t help us to make taxi reservation via telephone. A bit rude when we request extra towels.
Amazing staff! Comfortable accommodations!
予想していなかったウェルカムドリンクがあり、ビールも1時間飲み放題だった。
Wonderful :)
Such nice staff, small but modern and clean room. And the slippers and robes were the best! Great location.
Good choice for breakfast. Not to far to the JR station. Very clean. Great staff, very helpful. Well situated to many other tourist sights, if you don’t mind a little bit of a walk.
Really nice experience with this hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful as well.
Hotel was quite close to Kyoto Station by foot and easy to access neighbouring sights. Breakfast buffet was good and fresh but little variety. The menu did not change and became boring after a few days eating the same food.
New and helpful staffs. Good location with bus services. Okay breakfast.
Room was very compact. But it was very clean and nicely furnished. The tub/ shower control was great, like to get for home !! Staff was nice and professional. Ate breakfast there, it was quite good.
The property is within walking distance from the Kyoto JR station, however amenities where bare and room was really dusty when we first arrived. For the price we had paid, we expected more from the property but sadly it didn’t meet our expectations. The room was really small as well... I won’t be returning to this property.
Great place to stay in Kyoto!
Great service, good location nearby Kyoto Station. Quiet neighbourhood.
Great staff, clean, free coffee in am cant complain
Great place
All I can say is dirty. Very dirty. Our room had scuff marks. It smelled like smoke. The only this good about his place is that it came with Netflix. Maybe we got a fluke room, but it was unfortunate.
Great place.
Very clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped room. Helpful and nice staff. Good breakfast. Will definitely stay there again.
About a 12 minute walk from Kyoto train station. Complimentary coffee and tea.
Great staff. Main area would often smell like smoke but it’s normal to have sections in japan for smokers
The staff was great would stay again, the place is very well maintained and the rooms were well kept
Very good location. Very clean, very friendly, very helpful.
Fantastic hotel
Fantastic hotel, would definitely recommend! Very clean and excellent room condition.
A good hotel
It was very good. The only downside was that it was not very close to downtown or any metro stations. If you are going around to all the sites being closer to a train station would be nice. However, the hotel itself was very nice. The odd thing is that they charge about $10 if you lose your room key. The breakfast looked reasonably good but we bought breakfast from a combini the night before.
We stayed at Hotel Il.Verde for 5 nights whilst we visited the amazing sites in and around Kyoto, the hotel is a 10 minute walk from the train station but there are plenty of buses if you don't fancy the walk, The rooms are a bit small but thats in common with most hotels inJapan, that said the staff were realy helpful and the room was spotless
Beutiful, new and tasteful! Good location. The only issue is that you have to pay lextra money at the time of check-in
Affordable in Kyoto
Clean, affordable hotel near station in Kyoto. The room was small but that’s normal in Japan. The area by door smelled like foot odor & there was dust in the room. The bathroom & beds were very clean though. They had free coffee & tea 24 hr & breakfast for about $9 US in morning. The staff were friendly & helpful & allowed us to keep bags until check in time. If looking for a affordable place to stay I’d recommend.
For what I paid, it was a bargain. Location wise, it's a bit far from Kyoto's train station, or metro lines, but has a bus stop near by. Hotel is in a mint condition and very well maintained. They do however not allow any guests in the hotel, in case you're planning to bring friends or "friends" over
I would definitely stay again when in Kyoto!! Great friendly & helpful staffs!
Excellent hotel with great staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful, the room was clean and quiet, to the point we overslept our alarm. 11/10 would sleep again
Hotel was great. Had everything we needed. Close to Kyoto station, which was nice. Staff was great and the hotel was very clean.
The location is excellent. It was in the middle of real locals hang out paradise. Shopping is at the doorstep. Perfect English speaking staff. Laundry on site is a bonus.
Location was within walking distance to Kyoto Station, Nishiki Markets & Gion. Staff were very friendly & amenities standard. Unfortunately our room smelled like cigarettes even though we requested a non smoking room. Bed wasn’t very comfortable so we didn’t get much sleep.
The hotel was situated close to a metro station stop - so not far to walk if your catching public transport. It was close to many sightseeing spots. It overlooked a beautiful garden. The beds were firm but that is common throughout Japan. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again.
This hotel is excellently located near both public transit and attractions. The room was perfect for our needs and the staff was both thoughtful and kind.
Really nice place great customer service very clean
Our room faced the park across the street. It was quiet and peaceful.
It was a nice hotel with good staff!
Nice hotel
The hotel was good. Clean rooms and friendly staffs. It’s 15 mins walking distance from Tokyo station so very convenient. Free coffee at the lobby which was nice. It is a nice hotel to stay in.
Nice stay
The staffs are lovely and helpful. Breakfast line is small but good quality. On my stay, the washlet was not work. Staff tried to fix it almost half an hour and it was very late night at that time. So I got a new room changed instead. Thanks.
Fine
The staff were very helpful and friendly. Room fine. Enjoyed being close to the little canal, easy to walk from.
Great stay made very welcoming
Amazing staff
Great property with good facilities and close proximity to railway station
Clean, accessible and customer friendly hotel
It was good, could be even better if we have a bit more space!
Excellent choice
Excellent choice! very clean and nice staff. Highly recommended
Great location and clean. Internet use either impossible or ran in streaks of working for 10 minutes and then not working for an extended period of time. Little things-such as $10/hour/room after a three night stay for two rooms for the family seem a bit much.
Friendly and nice hotel
The staff are friendly. But not much amenities around the hotel. Bus was convinent. Only 2 stops away from kyoto station. Do take note the laundromat machine do not have detergent and you have to bring your own.
