Fantastic location, very comfortable and convenient

Gul Sultan has an awesome location. 10 min walk to the main attractions. The staff are warm and helpfull, especially Sherhan. The property is wel maintained and looks recently renovated. It is a small quaint place. The rooms are a bIt tight but very clean. Bahroom also was very clean. The property sits on a main thoroughfare with lots of restaurants, cafes and pubs... which makes the area quite busy.... but I think that's practically all over Istanbul Would I stay here again? Yes, I would

Parking was quite hectic

I had a brief stay (one night), but I'd recommend this highly. Close to everything I wanted to see. It's on a street with many restaurants and shops so you will be duly entertained. The room was clean, sharply appointed, and all that I needed.

Excellent hotel & staff, good quality price!

The hotel and the room are very clean and comfortable. Very well located, a short walk to Aya Sofia and the blue mosque. The staff are very friendly, specially Mr Ahmet at reception, very polite and helpful, gave me good places to visit and where to eat at very reasonable prices. Happy to stay again for next trips.

Everything was just great!!e and my family liked the hotel. The front desk staff was really friendly and nice people! They helped us with everything including getting the ride to the airport. We got really nice shuttle bus! The hotel room was really comfortable and great! Really liked it! The area around was also great! Many good restaurants and shops. Many great sightseeing places are right there. Highly recommend!

The property managers were absolutely awesome. Both gentlemen treated us so kindly and attentively, constantly checking to see if there was anything we needed. The location was fantastic, just a very short stroll to the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque and surrounded by so many dining and shopping choices! We’ll be back!

Great little hotel in the heart of Sultanahmet! Perfectly located for all things touristy, and the staff were incredibly accommodating, letting me check in early and helping arrange transport out. Highly recommended!

We really loved staying at this hotel. It was very clean and the rooms were spacious. The views from the terrace are spectacular. If they offered breakfast it would have been ideal.

Excelent hotel highly recommended! Staff were always friendly and available 24 hours. I stayed for 5 nights location is great, surrounded by many restaurants and lots of nightlife. Perfect for young people who wants to go out but stay in a walkable area. I'd book it again next time

The owner Hamit and the manager Jaleel were absolutely friendly, courteous, accommodating and helpful with info regarding other travel destinations etc The hotel is cosy and neat and cheap for the location with cafes and restaurants all around Would definitely recomend it

Good hotel and good staff

The staff here are so so helpful in particular Hamit. He carried my 20kg suitcases up two flights of stairs without a complaint. No elevator is something to note. Hamit continued to be so helpful throughout my stay. It is situated near tourist attractions. The building is old and very easy to hear people from other rooms but the noise from street was not a problem. The room was clean and has a good shower and bathroom facility Bed comfortable

Hotel Gul Sultan ran by Mr Hamit couldn't do enough to please his guests service was excellent rooms very clean beds comfortable.best thing about it is the fact that very close to all main attractions 3 mins walk to hagia sofia and blue mosque plenty of places to eat around hotel or close proximity of it.Fatih municipality social facilities very close 5 minutes walk and very reasonably prices food not bad at all .noise outside could be till about 1 am but bearable belive me I have seen worse.no kettle in the room but Mr Hamit Celik will provide you with a kettle and cups if you like. very pleased with attention to detail.rooms are nicely decorated. Overall i was very pleased with our stay.i would definitely recommend.

Modest accommodation & perfectly situated!

Very modest accommodation. All you need though. Clean and quaint. Needs better coffee. Breakfast time starts very late and if you leave early they won’t accommodate you. Affordable and very simple. Phenomenally located! Can’t get more central!

Great location - a few minutes' walk to the Blue Mosque. Friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable rates. I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel.

The property location is perfect. Your close to everything and have easy access through the trams. The rooms are small and they ended up putting me in a room with no window or natural light what so ever, it was very gloomy. They are very inconsiderate because at the time I stayed 4 nights and every morning starting 7am they are literally demolishing the flooring for the unit right above me. I could not sleep what so ever. The walls are really thin so I don’t even think other rooms had a good sleep. The rooms are really clean, overall it was great except for the noise and the staff. Would recommend for the price. Other thing to note is doors are very flimsy and easy to break into. There is no safe in the room, but I didn’t run into any issues and there was always someone at reception downstairs.

We arrived very late due to the late flight. The staff was accommodating and pleasant. The hotel is located close to all the sights and there are many stores and cafes around.

Hotel located in the travelers district but not too busy so it isn't crowded. Staff are super friendly, helpful. The room is clean and daily housekeeping is available. There is a convenience store right in front of the hotel. Walking distance from Blue Mosque and Aya Sophia so you can see the beautiful view from the rooftop. Closest Metro station is Sultanahmet which is the cheapest way if you get the hotel from airport by metro.

Nice hotel in the middle of the tourist area

4 night stay. The hotel is very reasonably priced and is in a great location. The rooms are basic but comfortable. What makes this hotel stand out is the staff. More than helpful in every way.

Staff at reception are very inexperienced. Upon check-in I was immediately blamed for a misunderstanding regarding the airport-hotel shuttle. Upon check-out, the person did not realize that I had already pre-paid the room online; I had to make him aware of that. I felt like I paid more than what I received. Clearly, you pay for the location.

A rude night receptionist!

It was ok as most of the time is spent outside in the historical area nearby. They had special keys for bathrooms, and I found out that keys are not in the room in the midnight, and toilet was locked from inside once I pull the door closed. When I called the receptionist, he was too rude and refused to give me the bathroom keys for unknown reason, and told only not to lock it!!! Fridge was old and smelly as well...

Staffs (day and night receptionists) are so helpful and friendly. I felt very welcoming. It will always be my first choice hotel in Istanbul.

Great place close to the sea and tourist sites (5 mins to Aya Sofya). The staff went above and beyond to make the stay as comfortable as possible for us. Breakfast was good as well. Clean and cozy!

Pleasant conveniently located hotel in Sultanahmet

Pleasant hotel in Sultanahmet. Within short walking distances of the principal historic sites, Blue Mosque, Sofia and Topkapi. Bonus: three receptionists on duty during my stay, Sertan, Hakan and Hamit were extraordinarily helpful.

Great location in Old Town & accommodating staff

This is a small family-owned hotel, which has a very nice location in Sultanahmet (the Old Town). You can walk to most of the key tourist sites from here easily, and there are many restaurants and shops nearby. Our family booked 2 rooms for a short stay before we left Istanbul on a cruise, and we all felt this hotel was a good choice. The owner and other staff went out of their way to assist us with shuttle arrangements, and another travel issue we had with one of our party. The included breakfast was nice, and they have a rooftop deck that is decent. The rooms are a bit small, but heck, this is Europe, so, this was not a surprise. All in all, for the price paid, we were quite satisfied and would come back here for a short stay anytime. Would not recommend the hotel for those seeking a lot of comfort (aka Hilton or Marriott), but if you are only after a clean and safe place for a few days while touring around the old part of Istanbul (or planning around a cruise like we were), this is a good place to stay.

Great value, location and customer service

Great value, very convenient location, short walk to Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya, Topkapi Palace, etc. Sparse but clean, comfortable rooms. Some late-night noise from restaurants below but manageable. The hotel staff was incredibly nice and helpful.

Nice and cozy

We stayed 4 nights in this hotel in December. Loved the area: the hotel is located on a cute little street with a whole bunch of nice restaurants that are open till late at night. The major sightseeing places are within just a few minutes walk. The room was cleaned every day, and breakfast was quite good. Loved the staff too: very friendly and helpful. The lady who served the breakfast was especially warm and friendly and even treated us with some little specialties:)

The neigbourhood also good.however you can hear a little bit noise during late night because of the restaurants near hotel.but thats okay since it will show life of the istanbul. Breakfast of turkish style. Near to everwhere.its very walking distance! But...the room is not too big...so ig u expect big one...this hotel doesnt suit you... ;)

good location, good service and good people

We stayed 2 days in this hotel. The service people are very good, helpful to arrange sight seeing and other programs. You can completely reply on these people. The location is amazing. all the important places are nearby in walking distance, lots of good restuarants. Also sea beach is very close.

Great Location, Nice Staff but Loud Neighborhood

This is a nice hotel in the Sultanahmet area. There are many restaurants and bars in the area and is always filled with people. Very nice atmosphere overall. Rooms are on the small side but are clean and well maintained. The staff is excellent. However, it is a old building with little sound insulation. So you hear every bang of the door, people talking in the corridor, and the noise from outside. You can easily hear the music and voices from the street.

Helpful, flexible staff - available 24/7. Clean, comfortable room. Efficient housekeeping every day. Plentiful breakfast in 2-level roof top setting. Good WiFi access. Easy walk to many sites and tram.

Positive experince over all

The hotel is located at a very conveniente location, and if you are planning on enjoying a bit of the nigth life is actually a great location, but that is also the negative, because is rigth in the loudest corner of the street. The hotel is clean, rooms a not too large, beds confortable. Breakfast is OK, some items, easter and western. Staff is helpful. Public transposrt cn be take from the Airport, it may take around 1 hour and you need to make 1 transfer. The Sultanahmet tram station is a good 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Very friendly atmosphere!

At this only 8 rooms small hotel all windows are facing the street with cafes and restaurants. In the evenings sometimes a little bit nozzy, but closing the Window easily corrected the situation. Soundproofing was quite noticeable. The exterior of the hotel is beautifully wooden in the Ottoman style. Pleasant lounge, where you can positest in comfortable armchairs and coffee tables, reading newspaper or a book with the book shelves in the corner. We stayed 2 nights on the 2nd floor in June 2014 . The room was small, but it was conveniently located. Comfortable bed, bedside tables, wardrobe, dressing table with mirror, large comfortable armchair by the window. The room was cleaned, bed linen and towels were changed regulary. A spectacular view of the city and the Bosphorus are oppened from the upper terrace. The Majestic Ayia Sofia as on a palm stands on the left. And it's constant Companion The Blue Mosque in all its glory is on the right. The Golden Horn Bay and part of the Asian side of Istanbul are behind. What extrao

Just came back from vacation with family. Two children and my wife. Had a great time. Hotel in beautiful location. Right in center of attractions. There are many restaurants next to the hotel.Our favorite was right next to the hotel. Food was very delicious. Seem like eating a meditarrian with Turkish flare dish. Kids enjoyed listings to the call ofprayer. It was very mystical. Glad My wife and I had the experience to share Istanbul with our two boys. Very mystical and enchanting experience. I understand why Disney wants to add Istanbul to their tours. Istanbul is Aladdin! !! My wife bought her lamp. Hopefully all her wishes come true.

Great location for tourist sites

Our stay was very comfortable, the staff were very courteous and helpful. The breakfast was great, as each day, some new items were added to the menu.

Nice hotel but noisy On street

Very friendly staff, I can't say enough about how great the all were. The rooms are small but well appointed . Great location to all main tourist sites. Only fault is the noise coming from bars across street, from about 23:00 to 01:00 is very loud. Complained the first night but nothing could be done.. As for a room on the back of the hotel if you sleep lightly or do t plan to go party at night

Unbeatable location.

The hotel is located in the heart od historical Istanbul. Everything is a walking distance! From the cafeteria there is a great view of St. Sofia, Blue Masque and the sea shore. All the restaurants are right there. The staff is VERY friendly. Rooms are clean but small. It's a good size for 2 people but there was 3 of us in the room.... Overall I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again myself.

Great location, a little dated

The hotel was located in the Sultanahmet of Istanbul, right near all the sights and on a street with plenty of restaurants and a few shops. The front desk staff at the hotel were very helpful, spoke great English, and helped us arrange a shared car pick-up to the airport the next morning. The hotel itself is a fine place to stay for a night or two. It had very bare essentials, but did include a TV, hairdryer, towels, a clean/firm bed, and an air-con we couldn't figure out how to turn on. The room did not have a lock box, nor a very durable lock. I'm not sure I'd stay at this exact location again, but if you need moderately-priced accommodations, this place will do the trick.

Good, affordable hotel w/ great location

Great hotel! Really close to major tourist attractions and the subway/tram line. On the same street as a number of good restaurants and a delightful bakery/cafe. Also offers free breakfast with good hours and good food. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and a good size. Absolutely fantastic for the price!

Charming Old City Hotel

Location in the Old City is excellent for seeing major historic sites and shopping. Tour companies abound in the street for special local and regional tours. Owner and staff are very hospitable. Taxi transport to hotel is around $25. Atmosphere is more like a B & B. Room and bathroom are very small. Our room had no view at all, but most rooms do look out on the streets around. No premium channels, and hardly any English language channels on cable TV. Remote to AC not provided. Bed is regular dbl.

Located just 2 minutes walk from S Sophia, staff very nice and helpful, just some noise during the night due to pubs and restaurants

El hotel, las habitaciones, el aseo y el servicio son excelentes. La ubicación es ideal, cerca a todos los lugares de interes. Al frente del hotel hay un bar que pone musica a un volumen muy alto hasta las 2am y no es facil descansar tranquilamente.

Sehr sauberes Hotel in einer sehr guten und historischen Lage! Die 2 Bars vor dem Hotel leider bis 4 Uhr nachts Disco Musik aber dafür kann das Hotel nichts das Hotel wirklich sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet. Preis Leistung super

시설이 조금 오래되긴 했지만 가격을 생각하면 납득할 만한 수준이고 잘 쉬다갈 수 있었습니다. 사장님이 매우 친절하십니다. 다만 건너편에 여러 식당 및 술집이 있었는데 밤 늦게까지 노래를 틀어놓아 꽤 시끄러웠습니다.
