Great experience. Only downside was the Wi-Fi was not the best and should be upgraded.
Young and enthusiastic staff. Low-key and homely area. Near to attractive park and most of the significant museums.
Real Hidden Gem in Nezu area
The stay at Hotel GRAPHY turn out to be really comfortable and great!. Room was comfortable, cafe has great drink and food, welcome beer was very nice, great lounge area with interesting books, laundry area and roof top area with great views with very reasonable price! As the hotel mug cup says “meet locals and feel global” really says how this hotel feels. The hotel staff have great information on the local attractions, store and restaurants & bars. We took their suggested areas walk on their map and explored Nezu fully. Staffs are very friendly and attentive for everyone’s requests. We will be back definitely for our next Tokyo stay.
Friendly staff and a very quiet neighborhood. Only a 15 minute walk to Ueno station!
Very nice hostel outside the normal bustle of Tokyo in a very quiet residential area but still close to transit and other things to do.
Very pleasant experience!
Everything was perfect. From the staff, they were all super friendly. The food (breakfast) was simple but done with so much care. The areas super clean and comfortable. The free beer is a nice touch for those who will stay there at night. I think its the best hostel I’ve stayed 🙌
Perfect location near Ueno Park, quiet, clean. Miscommunication with staff who said that breakfast wasn’t included, but another staff said it was. We ate out and couldn’t get credit for breakfast we didn’t receive. Also staff unable to print a receipt for payment.
Amazing place, friendly staff. Will visit again! Thank you for having me everyone! :)
Loved my stay here! Would stay again
Amazing place. Nearby station and lots of shopping options. 10/10
This hotel is a tourist trap. The prices were high when I booked it and was immediately cut in half after I left. One night I found a flying insect behind the TV set and I have never encounter this in any hotel. It was resolved eventually. Also, it is basic knowledge that when you put the tag on the door handle outside, the staff will come in and make the room. But they come in regardless of whether it’s placed outside or not. At least their service attitude is ok, otherwise I would probably give them a one star.
My husband and I visited from Canada and absolutely loved this hotel. It has a communal living feel to it, almost like a dorm, but we chose a room with 2 double beds put together and a private bathroom. Free water and reusable water bottle for use while in the hotel. There is a lounge area with 2 kitchens free to use and all you can drink beer for an hour every evening. The breakfasts were westernized but very good. It is in a quiet, pretty area yet there is plenty to do within walking distance, and it is just a 5 minute walk to the closest metro (subway) station. The staff speaks English very well and are helpful if you ask for recommendations on where to find something in particular. If we ever come back to Tokyo we will definitely return to this hotel.
Excellent place, great staff. Very inexpensive, and nicer area than other options near Ueno. I had a shared room, a little noisy. But I would stay again and recommend to a friend.
Amazing time, very relaxing, I suggest booking this place as the last stop, close to the airports and great to unwind.
I previously stayed at the Graphy Nezu in 2014 and was pleasantly surprised to have the same cozy experience as I did a decade ago. The room I stayed in showed quite a bit of wear, especially around the aircon piping area, but overall, the room was clean, the aircon was powerful, and there were the right amount and type of appliances and amenities available in the room. The staff were also friendly and ready to answer any questions I had. Some minor minus points would be that my unit bath had a weird smell from the pipes that wouldn't go away. It didn't bother me as long as I kept the bathroom door closed. The shared kitchen also had a certain smell that was slightly unpleasant, but nothing too big if you don't spend too much time there.
Safe, staffs are very helpful
Excellent!!
Nice area to stay after the hectic bustle of downtown Tokyo
Great little hotel in a wonderful neighborhood! Perfect for people on a budget who want to see a quieter yet still super interesting part of Tokyo
I loved how helpful the staff were. They ordered my taxi to the airport early in the morning. I also loved their burgers at the eating area where you can work, study, and enjoy covering with other people at the hotel. I recommend trying their burgers and morning menu.
Very clean and nice place. I liked how polite the staff are and the breakfast and kitchen is great! Would love to stay there again.
Nice to stay
Good location in Nezu residential area. Closed to Ueno Park, National Museum and Tokyo University. Staff are nice. Hotel facilities are required to be upgraded.
Staff was nice and in a quiet area.
Free beer during 6pm-7pm!!!
Awesome place to stay for the value. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Recommend getting the breakfast everyday, well worth it. They also offer free beer everyday 6-7pm!
Excellent stay. Enjoyable. Friendly
Great Dormitory Experience
I was really impressed with the Hotel dormitory. It was my first time staying in a dorm and I had a great experience. The bathroom, room, and amenities were great and breakfast each morning was delicious!
The installations were pretty clean and cozy, there’s a common area where you’ll always find people either playing something, working or chilling, really comfy place
Very cozy environment with good food and atmosphere. Only con is it’s a bit of a walk and out of the way from the station coming from Narita airport.
Convenient area
The staff were kind and welcoming. The property has a great lounge area to hang about, eat or cook. The place has a little eatery and bar. Friendly atmosphere and great hostel to make new friends.
Good value for money. Rooms are small, perhaps, average for a Japanese hotel. Convenient walking distance to the University of Tokyo Yayui campus where my meetings were. Quiet neighbourhood, close to Nezu Metro station.
Great staff, atmosphere and security. I will return!
I wish I had found this place sooner!
This is the last place I’ll stay on my 3 week Japan trip, but it I’d known about it I would have moved around less. I’m writing this as I have their delicious (intercontinental) breakfast given I extended my stay from 1 night to 3. It’s in a quiet neighborhood with old architecture. If looking for izakayas or bars or partying look elsewhere. That said the common area is comfortable and social and the staff great. I made friends here. Went on walks, grabbed dinner, exchanged tips with fellow travelers. You won’t spend as much time in your room or bed here but you also might not leave the hotel as much it’s so easy lounge around. Great coworking vibe. It’s close to other historical neighborhoods and expansive and pretty Ueno park too. I’ll likely make this my first stop next trip. Perhaps my only. My only complaints: 1) mattress is thin and lumpy / hard. Door to shared room and lockers are metal so make for noise entry and exit.
Excellent location and place to stay. I highly recommend it.
Super easy check-in cause mobile check-in is available. Arrived early and availed of there checked luggage service while we went out to eat and came back during check-in time. One of us was able to use their co-working space to study and catch up with missed lessons while on vacation.
Affordable stay with good facilities available such as lounge and kitchen appliances. However if you get a shared bedroom, be aware your roommates can make lots of noise
Very homely and very nice approachable staff :), beautiful area and right by the Ueno shopping locations plus the zoo, temples and museum.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Excellent location near the Zoo, Shrines, parks and transportation. Hotel is staffed with accommodating and friendly people. Room was clean, there were free laundry facilities and a decent cafe with beer HH. Common area furniture could use a good cleaning and room furniture was very worn.
Fantastic stay the staff above and beyond. Enjoyed all aspects
Great place for basing out of. Very walkable. Pleasant staff and rooms. Very chill atmosphere.
Very nice 6 day stay. Fine free breakfast and free laundry. Couldn't beat the location. Considerate staff.
We loved exploring Ueno Park and all of the restaurants right by the train station. We were also close to the lotus pond, the zoo, etc, and the immediate area was really beautiful and peaceful! We liked leaving the bustle of the touristy areas for quiet Yenesen. Happy hour was great (we made sure to be back for free beers every evening) and breakfast was inexpensive and good. Coffee was also great!
It is a very unique hotel, full of young vibe. All the staff and most of the guests are young, and it is nothing like other hotel corporations. I also enjoyed the quiet and convenient neighborhood.
Clean and safe. Don't complain about the size of the room U r in Japan. And people usually don't need that spacious rooms that we need.. Bed is comfortable. Bathroom did the job. And we enjoyed Tokyo. Front desk are very helpful. Fresh coffe in the morning. Grocery two min walk. I took long time. Searching and this was the best catch.
The only hotel we stayed in where they really made us feel welcome. Staff is super friendly and the amenities in the room/hotel were excellent. Really unique vibe on the property and the area around it where it feels like a small separate town right in the middle in busy Tokyo. I liked that they highlight local/organic products and businesses around the area.
A nice hide
Cooling beer, courteous bartenders, nice layout of floor. However be aware it’s kind far from Ueno station.
Stayed 1 night in shared dormitory.
Bed is super comfortable. I slept well. I hope you can put curtain in between beds. I put my jacket so i wont see my roommate directly while lying. Have free welcome drink. Just the toilets and powder room can be cleaner. And if you can provide slippers as you have to walk barefoot or with shoes from the room to the toilets and lavatory.
Is was convenient walkable to the Ueno JR Train station, thru the Ueno Zoo Park area, and Ueno Temples.
Great experience
Graphy is one of my favorite small hotels in Tokyo. Very comfortable atmosphere with amazing staff.
I love my stay at Hotel Graphy Nezu, the staff is fantastic and friendly, the food in the restaurant was incredible i felt like if i was home.
No slippers, no problem
This was the first Japanese hotel-hostel that allowed me to wears shoes all over the property. No slippers! It was weird. I’ve grown so accustomed I actually prefer it! But delightful and helpful staff.
The location is a bit far from Ueno station by foot but the overall stay experience was nice.
Lovely little place about 20 minutes walk from Ueno Station. Supermarket nearby. Stayed in a double room with bathroom. Super spacious and bathroom was clean. Free towels and toothbrushes each day. Very large commercial kitchen and lounge area was nice. Free drink each night was a bonus.
Great place, nice staff and interesting guests. Well located in a very quite neighborhood.
The common kitchen area was very convenient. The location is very good.
Modern hotel
The hotel’s design is very modern and organic. The service was exceptional. We do enjoy the free drinks. Definitely will stay here again
Hotel Graphy stay
Hotel was room was ok but had to up grade a room with a bathroom which was better. Shame there was not a usb port for charging your phone which should be compulsory. There was one rude female staff member in the cafe who wore glasses that gave me an attitude when I asked if it was ok to borrow a spoon so I could eat a desert in my room that i bought from the store. She wanted to make a big drama over me borrowing the cutlery which I was going to return back. Funny enough i requested a spoon two day before and the gentleman kindly gave me the spoon with no fuss. The female staff with the glasses should learn a thing or two on how to communicate properly and how to accommodate guest. Apart from that I had an adequate stay.
Friendly and nice reception. Quite place to stay in.
Absolutely awesome! Love the environment, the service. Very grateful to have stayed at such an amazing Hotel.
Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff, spacious common areas and well-equipped shared kitchen.
Wonderful hotel and cafe!
Really loved this hotel. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, cafe downstairs was great, and the area surrounding the hotel has lots of great museums and restaurants! Having a free drink every night at the cafe and reading a book was always a fun way to spend some time. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Great very friendly place. I’d give it 8.5. Small but comfortable rooms and good breakfasts. Located in a nice little neighborhood away from the bustle but close to metro and Ueno Park. Would definitely stay here again.
Oasis of quiet in the hurly-burly
Had a very nice stay of several nights. Would stay there again, definitely! Given how hectic Tokyo can be, it is incredibly relaxing to be able to end the day by walking back to a nice, quiet, uncrowded, residential neighborhood, and having a nice quite drink at the nice quiet uncrowded casual hotel bar. So much easier to wind down that way, if you're like me. I love Tokyo but a place like this hotel is an oasis. The walk between the hotel and subway/JR stations is short. To Nezu it's very, very low-traffic (almost non-existent traffic). To Ueno it's a bit of a longer walk along a busier road with not much sidewalk for part of the way, but still not bad. Hotel wifi worked great, no problem with bandwidth. Water pressure/temperature was great.
It’s a basic hotel and the decor looks a bit tired in places but I would recommend a stay here. Very near Tokyo University and Ueno Park, near Yanaka which is a good area to walk around. We had a double room with bathroom which for Tokyo was a big room. Excellent breakfasts every day and a free drink every evening. Very friendly helpful staff. The laundry room was useful and the very large kitchen and lounge room looked very good though we didn’t use it.
Good value
I like the idea of a dormitory hotel, with bath sharing and kithen is open to all guest residents. The only thing I wish is to have more toilets, 2 toilets on each floor.
Beet hotel in Ueno
Very warm and welcoming staff made my 2 week stay at graphy nezu hotel one of the most positive parts of my trip. By far one of the best hotels I've ever had the pleasure to stay at. Though there were no bathrooms/showers on the first floor I still enjoyed the comfort of the deep bathtub and immediate hot water. Staff were very helpful when I asked for directions towards stations and areas of Ueno. Though some guests created noise issues staff were quick to solve these issues to ensure a restful night sleep. Definitely 10/10 would stay here again next year :)
Location is excellent- lots of great places to eat near by, close to public transport, quiet and beautiful neighbourhood but not far from main attractions. Staff were super friendly and helpful, also spoke great English. Place is clean with a very well set up kitchen. All in all just a brilliant place to stay. On a personal level I prefer a blackout curtain and so found the room a bit bright in the morning
It's in a great, quiet neighbourhood near both Ueno and Nezu stations, including the zoo and museums of Ueno park. The food in the hotel restaurant is great, plus there's a lot of little convenience stores nearby to stock the fridge with, and a full kitchen downstairs you can use. And the bathroom amenities include all sorts of face cleansers and bath bomb type things! The rooms are beautiful :)
Absolutely love this place and its atmosphere. The staff is so kind, making you feel both welcome and at home, they show interest in you and your stay in Japan, they are quick to help you in any way. The area is also great, it is peaceful and quiet, but the Chiyoda line is very close, and will quickly take you into the bustling parts of Tokyo. If you like cosy and friendliness, if you are looking for a home away from home, I will recommend Hotel Graphy Nezu. My first choice in Tokyo
Great location near Ueno park for Cherry Blossoms, quiet area, and friendly staff. Rooms are very small and could be more comfortable (beds etc). Small improvements would go far.
Some of the rooms have no bathroom and shower And you need to go outside your room to take shower and bathroom . There are only one man shower room at Second floor and one woman shower room at third floor. When I asked to upgrade my room, they ask for a huge amount of money and it did not show in the paper what is the exact amount for This is a negation experience to stay in this motel ( Hotel Grapht can not classified as hotel)
We've been to Japan before and it is a country known for its professional service and cleaness. However this hotel failed big time. Rooms were super small. Staff were not friendly and does not care about the customer, not a single question is asked when we leave without finishing our stay. No refund is offered for the days not stayed. During the past few years we traveled a lot. This hotel is one of the worst. Be careful everyone.
It was a nice and quiet walk from Ueno Station to the hotel. The staff were very nice, and the bartender was great, too! We had a room with a shared bathroom, but the bathroom areas were super clean and not hard to get to. I would love to stay here again.
Friendly staffs, excellent location, quiet and good breakfast. I forgot my son’s allergy cream at the hotel and they manage to solve problem and ship it back to me. All I can say is it’s perfect place for a peaceful place for a trip.
Nice room stiuated in a quiet area
Situated about a good 10 - 15 mins walk from the main Ueno area. Room was basic but had everything you needed.
Charming and relaxed, but clean and orderly. Creative options for shared space. Good breakfast choices!
Lovely hotel in a great neighbourhood. It was comfortable and practical with a nice little cafe for breakfast and a large lounge/cooking area (which we did not use). In a great neighbourhood with lots of quirky independent shops, cafes and restaurants. Slightly outside the centre of Tokyo, but easy to get the metro into the city. There was a lot to investigate in Nezu,Ueno and Yanaka. The staff were really friendly and laid back and made some restaurant reservations for us. Would happily stay here again Our only downside was there were sticky ring marks on both the desk and bedside table, so these obviously hadn't been cleaned properly, but as the rest of the room and bathroom were spotless, we will put this down to an oversight.
Wonderful Stay in Ueno
Wonderful little hotel in the Ueno neighborhood. The rooms are comfortable and clean. There is a coffee shop and cafe on-site. We were very pleased and would stay here again in the future. This hotel is a 15 minute walk from Ueno station.
Fun, Hip, and Clean
Room and bathroom were clean and well designed. Breakfast every morning was delicious. In addition, there was a traditional seating area for those who wanted the experience. The lounge and kitchen were available for use and well kept. Distance to the Ueno station (JR) was a little bit if a trek but do-able approximately 15min walk. Nezu station (IC card) was close by (5 min walk). There’s a few restaurants nearby that were great for Soba noodles and an few Izukayas. I would definitely come back again! :)
This hotel has both standard en suite rooms and rooms without bath but with various shared rooms for men or for women in the hall. My en suite room was fine and had a comfortable bed. The bathroom was a pod that you have to step up into, as seen in other Japanese-style hotels. There was an a/c unit on the wall, but no heat that I could see, however the temperature at the end of November was fine inside. The restaurant is small but the food was well-prepared. There are 3 individual tables for 2 or 3 people and a large table for single travelers to share. There were more young customers than old ones, but it was quiet and friendly. The hotel is in a dense residential neighborhood with just enough room for one car to drive by, and many of the nearby roads are for foot traffic only. I enjoyed the authentic experience. Best of all, it is a short walk to Ueno Park with its museums and zoo, and also to three train stations, including Keisei with direct service to Narita. Having a smart phone for guidance is a big plus, though.
Very trendy little hotel in a quiet neighborhood right next to Nezu Station. The Ueno Zoo and several museums are just a short walk from the property.
Very stylish space, very useful to have large communal kitchen available for guests' use and free laundry. Nice cafe/bar area. Excellent location - lots of nice cafes and small shops in the area.
Amazing staff, very helpful, clean bathrooms and decent price
Helpful staff nice amenities
Highly recommend. The living area had a shared kitchen so it’s nice if you want to make your own food.
Will stay again!
Really loved this charming, hip hotel in the Ueno area. It's not a typical tourist area, which means it is quiet and has lots of charm, but it is insanely convenient with multiple subway stops in walking distance. Room was MASSIVE for Tokyo standards and the daily breakfast was yummy and charming.
Trendy spot in north-east Tokyo
Lovely hotel close to Ueno park and lots of small restaurants in the area. Short walk to the Yamanota line, so good links to all the main attractions. Nice retreat from the busyness of the city. Great music in the café/bar!
The staff was really informative and friendly during our whole stay. Everything was pretty clean and the staff was readily available whenever we needed something. It was pretty close to the Tokyo metro, JR station as well as the train that took you to the narita international airport (forgot what it’s called).
Very quiet and pleasant location.
Very good value. Nice breakfasts especially pancakes.
Reasonably priced comfortable hotel. Located in a quiet residential area and the room was quiet too. Nice service. I wish the laundry room was air-conditioned though ... but it was not a big deal.
Unique but refreshing experience
Stayed for 11 nights for work in July. The facilities are superb: a fully-equipped and extremely spacious shared kitchen and individual room fridges made cooking a pleasure. Staying for so long also gave my wife and I ample opportunity to sample the culinary offerings around the area. There's no real need to head out to town for food when everything representative of Japan - monjyayaki/okonomiyaki, omurice, Japanese-style Chinese food, Japanese-inflected French cuisine, hand-made 100% soba flour soba noodles, beef bowl (Yoshinoya) - are all around the immediate vicinity. The hotel also offers a variety of recreational activities which we did not partake in, but which did seem interesting. Do not miss the welcome drink - the perfect opportunity to sample a wide variety of cocktails and with luck, interact with other guests. When I desperately needed printing facilities just before I was due to present an academic, the staff very kindly printed my script for me - for which I'm extremely grateful. Do note that the hotel's quite a walk from Nezu station (which by itself isn't the most convenient of stations and not the most convenient of subway lines (Chiyoda), but it's an easy 20-minute walk to the University of Tokyo's Hongo Campus (via Kototoi Road and the Yayoi Gate). Fans of convenience stores may also be disappointed by the sole Daily Yamazaki, but the three-storey supermarket (Akafudado) should satisfy most Japanese 'fast food' needs.
Amazing staff, Great neighborhood near Ueno Park
Our family had a wonderful stay. Loved the very warm and friendly staff who were a big help and served us in the cafe. Big, super comfy room with superb amenities - epicly nice bathroom and tub. Located deep in a very nice neighborhood that's a few blocks walk to Ueno Park and the zoo. Will definitely be coming back on our next trip to Tokyo.
Awesome short stay
Awesome
Oustanding value and staff.
This is by far the best value for money accommodation I have ever stayed at. If you want a five star place, this is not the place for you. If you don't mind a small cosy room, friendly fun staff who speak English, excellent service, and don't mind using a toilet down the hall, or a shower downstairs, and sharing the ample kitchen facilities, then you will love this place. The five days I stayed I felt extremely welcome, and really enjoyed the complimentary welcome drinks each night, and fresh towels each day. The only advice I have for the management is that some English speaking news or sports channels, and some music channels on the TV would be great. But I did not go to Tokyo to watch TV, so it wasn't a major issue for me. While the rooms are not ideal for couples as they are very small, it was perfect for the solo traveller. Should I return to Tokyo I will definitely stay here again. Within perfect walking distance of the Zoo, parks, museums and three train lines, not to mention a 5 minute walk to an excellent supermarket with very cheap liquor! Thank you so much to the staff at Graphy Nezu for a very fun stay.
very nice 👌
