Beautiful fassade and small hotel in downtown Konstanz. You can walk to the lake, do bike rides, there are lots of shopping and restaurants in the area.

Overall, this is a fine property to spend a night or two in, but I would not recommend it for longer stays. The location is great and in a beautiful part of town. The breakfast service was lovely and well attended. I also liked the water pressure, which also ran nice and hot. Unfortunately, the hotel is older and not well refinished. My door was 1 meter from the elevator which made my stay very noisy with people coming and going, and I could hear every move my neighbors made—which means they could probably hear me too! I also had a very bad interaction the first day with the Hausmeister, who banged very loudly on my door and tried to enter my room while I was sleeping off some jet lag. Does he do this with everyone or only with single women who are placed close to the elevator? It was unsettling and the staff seemed to dismiss my concerns as his normal behavior. This place may be okay for families or single men and is honestly great for the price, though I won’t be returning.

Great location, breakfast, clean, check-in and out very efficient

This is a well-located hotel on the edge of Konstanz’s historic town centre. They serve a very good breakfast and the staff seem friendly. It doesn’t have much of a life to it beyond the obvious - it’s a place where you sleep, grab something to eat in the morning and head out. They are actually missing a trick, as they could do good business selling coffee and cake in the afternoon if they wanted. Room in attic perfectly good, although TV bizarrely positioned at end of the bed in the middle of the room, effectively splitting the space in two. Noisy at night.

Comfortable hotel - could use better service

This is a pleasant hotel that is centrally located. The rooms were rather small and lacked air-conditioning but were otherwise very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. We were impressed that we were issued free passes for the public transportation system when we checked in. One major concern - in the middle of the night, my son became very ill. We looked for assistance from the hotel staff but the reception desk was unattended and there was a note that said to call a given number for emergencies. But, there was no indication whether that number was to contact emergency services (police, etc.) or hotel staff. Given our limited German, we were uncomfortable calling the phone number at 2:00am. That said, the morning front desk attendant (begrudgingly) allowed us to stay a few extra hours after checkout to allow my son some more time to recover.

Very nice hotel

Very nice hotel. Breakfast buffet was extensive. There is a small self parking lot right behind the hotel, but if you can't find a spot there, the nearest lot we found was a few blocks away. The hotel was conveniently located right on the edge of the Old Town, giving the hotel easy access by car without having to navigate the Old Town. As other reviewers have stated, the main entrance is off the small courtyard on the side of the hotel opposite the main road; just keep trying all the doors and eventually you'll find the right one. We would stay here again.

Great position at the edge of the old town. Very friendly staff and the best breakfast buffet i have had in a very long time. Parking is in the adjacent square and has to be paid for but it is free on Sunday.

Konstnz reunion

The hotel was very clean and the staff was excellent and very helpful. The breakfast was typical European, varied and very good. The dining room staff kept all the food warm or cold as needed and refreshed platters, etc. before you could ask. How ever, the hotel was UN-Air Conditioned - VERY HOT - and they didn't have fans for all the rooms. In addition, my sister-in-law requested a HANDICAPPED ROOM, HAD CALLED AHEAD TO VERIFY ITS AVAILABILITY, BUT THERE WAS NONE TO BE HAD WHEN WE ARRIVED! That was extremely difficult for her to manage. Also, they billed my charge for 4 of the seven rooms for the family even though each couple gave the hotel their own charge card. We fixed it within the family, but this was very poor handling of the financial aspect even as the staff was so nice.

Nice hotel shame about the rooms!

This is a lovely hotel, it was well positioned for walking around the old town, reaching the ferries and train station, BUT, the rooms need updating, our rooms window opened onto a small central courtyard, where the lift is positioned, so no view, although noise from the lift wasn’t an issue(its very quiet), the lack of airflow was. We spent four nights of very disturbed sleep due to the heat. It was the second time I’d stayed at the hotel and I was disappointed with the room they gave us. Although a hairdryer was provided in the bathroom, I’m not sure it would pass a safety test. The communal areas are lovely and breakfast was great with plenty of choice. If I was to go back I’d ask for room 303 which looked lovely and had windows opening onto the side road, although if you’re going to be there Tuesdays or Fridays be aware that a farmers market takes place in the square so you may be woken early.

Cozy Hotel - Great Location for Shopping

I really enjoyed the hotel experience. Prime location for the shopping center and local stores, etc. Staff is wonderful, polite, kind and very attentive. I interacted mainly with Elena, and she is just wonderful - very kind and helpful. The hotel is an old building, though renovated, so if you are a sensitive sleeper, make sure to bring a set of ear-plugs and a blindfold. Room was pleasant, but the level of noise is very transparent. Unfortunately, I only slept 4-5 hours. Excellent breakfast selection and generous in hospitality.

Very comfortable hotel. Excellent breakfast that has a nice selection of items. Rooms are very clean. This is a small hotel (only one floor) so not a lot of traffic. You are close to the most important sights and also to the train station if you wish to go outside the city. The hotel restaurant is closed for lunch and dinner, but there are numerous restaurants nearby and a supermarket also. The TV does not have an English speaking channel - but you should not be watching TV anyway - see the town.

The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly and helped us with our luggages when we arrived. Breakfast was good and we are happy staying here. . Highly recommended this hotel and will be back to the same hotel for our next trip.

Good location, good breakfast choices

The stay was spoilt by the fact that we were disturbed by whoever was on the floor above us. Not sure who that was, as we seemed to be on the top floor, so I have to assume it was staff accommodation. The floorboards directly above our head were very creaky, so everytime the people above walked around we were disturbed, and this was in the early hours of the morning. Then at 7am on Sunday a child was running around up there, which again was very disturbing. It was a real shame as the hotel was good, in a great location etc. The people above were not particularly noisy, but it was the poor quality of the floorboards and lack of sound proofing which really spoilt our stay. Our room was very small, and in particular the bathroom - it was impossible to shower without getting the whole bathroom wet! That however, did not detract from the stay, it was the disturbance which did.

Nice centrum hotel without aircon

Minus aircon We were there with 30 olderly people. The bar was suppose to close 11 pm - they Stayed out just under our window at 1 floor to 2am

The hotel looks nice

Nice and clean hotel. Location is at the far end of the altstadt. It is not air conditioned and my room had one window which looked into a very narrow alley, thus no airflow. I checked in and got my key card, but the card reader on the door was dismantled. They then gave me a key, but this must have been their only key because for the 3 days of my stay, I never received maid service. Hot room, no maid service, broken door key reader... I'll look elsewhere next time.

Nice place to stay

Very nice hotel, very good breakfast! Just one thing, the room was very hot! They should invest in table fans for the rooms (not a big investment, and will make a huge difference!!)

AIR CON PLEASE :

We have stayed at the Graf Zeppelin a few times before and had always found it to be very good, however on this trip, there was an issue that needs addressing for further guests staying during the Summer, namely no air-conditioning in our rooms and the temperature was sweltering during the day and at night , if you opened the windows the bugs would fly in and attack you. On the plus side, breakfast was excellent, rooms were clean and staff friendly. It's location is very good and close to all sights and amenities, especially the 24 hr Flea Market which we went for.

Good position & breakfast, shame about the bedding

The hotel is in a really good position, although does suffer from road noise. We had booked a twin bedded room but on arrival found we had a double bed, the receptionist tried her best to sort this out including talking to a manager (who couldn't be bothered to get up from his drink outside to come deal with the issue). We agreed in the end to stay with the room and change the next day when an alternative would be available. Both rooms were adequate, if a little on the small side, it was very hot while we were there and the bottom sheet on beds doesn't help, as it's made from a polyester towelling stretch fabric, cotton sheets would have been a better choice. Breakfast was very good, an excellent choice, although we did need to eat as the breakfast room opened and the hit food was not ready for opening!

Nothing special

Hotel and room required some simple general maintenance - the lift wasn't working, and the loo seat was loose, and one of our beds felt like it might collapse. Our room looked out onto a dirty air shaft full of bird droppings. The breakfast was adequate, but nothing special. The location was good for the old town. A fine exterior does not equate to a great hotel!

The hotel is located in a very good area of town. The staff are friendly and helpfull. The hotel building is part of Konstanz history. Beds are not very confortable. They are two matress and split some times. Internet very slow and not working most of the times.

Great hotel

The hotel had charm and was pleasant to stay in. It was close to everything and we could easily walk everywhere. I would stay here again.

Web pics are deceiving

Web pics of this hotel are not what you'll experience when you get there...hotel is on a busy street corner-10 minute walk from Bodensee. Rooms are very small and bland...no pictures. If you have a street view be prepared for lots of noise if your window is open. If you face another building, you'll have no view and wake up to pigeons. On a positive note, breakfast was good and rooms were clean.

The shower is terrible!

Overall this hotel is clean. However, the shower is terrible that the drain is completely blocked. I tried to clean it myself without success.

Very enjoyable

Great location. I walked from the station to the hotel in 10 minutes. The hotel is gorgeous and very close to the old part of town and the Lake as well as buses to the island. Staff very helpful.

The Graf Zeppelin hotel is a great place to stay in this wonderful, historic city.I was there during their Fasnacht (carnival) celebrations. The room in the hotel was very good and the breakfast items varied and delicious. It'a short walk to the harbour, ciy park, the churches and the medieval lanes of the Niederburg. Well worth a few days stay.

Nice hotel in good central location

You can drop your bags off outside the hotel and then go and find somewhere to park close by. The rooms are large and the breakfast buffet is good. The staff are very helpful.

Nice hotel in old town

We had a corner room that slept four. Room was very clean and nice. Location is great. It was warm so we slept with windows open, but then traffic noise woke us up early. That was only draw back. Breakfast was typical - pastries, jam, cold meats and cheese, boiled eggs, cereals, fruit - not spectacular, but absolutely sufficient. We walked to train station, shops, restaurants, lake, etc.

Great Stay, but a room fan would be nice

The weather was really hot and the room was very stuffy. I understand air conditioning is not a usual amenity to have but room fans would have been a nice middle-ground. Other than that, the stay was good, the breakfast was delicious, and the hotel staff was friendly.

Wie schon beim Ankommen geschrieben fehlt der Hinweis, das unser Zimmer nur über eine Treppe erreichbar ist, da der Aufzug nur bis zur 4. Etage geht. Für uns keine Problem!

Immer eine Reise Wert und nettes Personal

Das Hotel ist sehr gut zu erreichen und hat eine super Anbindung an Bus und Bahn. Der Konstanzer Bahnhof ist in weniger als 10 Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen und auch sonst bietet die Lage sehr gute Einkaufs- und Speisemöglichkeiten. Auch die Promenade ist in wenigen Minuten erreichbar und wer gerne mal in die Schweiz laufen möchte, kann das in gut 15-20 Minuten tun. Nun zum Hotel selbst: Die Mitarbeiter*innen waren alle sehr freundlich und das Personal an der Rezeption stand einem bei jeder Frage zu Unternehmungen, Bus oder sonstige Anliegen kompetent zur Seite. Das Buffet bot eine große Auswahl an verschiedensten Speisen und Snacks. Wie ich das beurteilen konnte und mir auch versichert wurde bereiten sie vor Ort das meiste selbst zu (bspw. Obstsalat, Gemüse anrichten usw.) Es blieben keine Wünsche offen! Das Hotel hat eine gemütliche Atmosphäre und die Gäste (zumindest als ich da war) hielten sich stets an die Nachtruhe. Wenn man dort alleine einen Aufenthalt bucht und auf Schlaf angewiesen ist, dann sollte man dazu sagen, dass man nicht direkt am Aufzug sein möchte. Das ist aber auch mein einziger kleiner Kritikpunkt, den ich sogar bei Rücksprache hätte ändern können. Sonst war das Hotel sehr sauber, gut organisiert und ich fühlte mich dort als Gast sehr willkommen und würde jederzeit wieder dort buchen!
