Great place to stay. Location cant be beat for walking around Union Sq area/ China town etc. Irene was great.. she upgraded me and placed a nice half bottle of wine in the fridge for me. I left my phone charger there and it was located and they are sending it back.
Nice hotel at a good spot
This is a nice hotel at a very convenient place. San Francisco is not the easiest place to find decent hotels at an affordable price. This hotel gets the job done and we had a nice stay. It was clean and our room was very spacious, which was a nice bonus. We liked the fact that we were close to public transportation and we felt safe walking around.
Great place to stay
Clean place in the busy downtown area. Conveniently located close to the important tourist attractions. Downtown area is generally a bit dirty and suffers from crimes. Some noise in the area from protests outside in the street. The staff were nice about it and gave us a room that wasn’t facing the noise. They also gave is a complementary bottle of wine.
Hotel G was nice, clean and easybto access. The only downside was the protesters outside banging on a vig oil drum from 7am to 10 pm
Always have a pleasant stay here.
I loved this hotel and the staff!
This property was great, clean and spacious
Not the fault of the hotel but the union strike down the street was noisy and disruptive. The concierge put me in a better room to be furthest from the noise. Room had a strange odor but was otherwise clean
We stayed at hotel G for 3 nights and had an excellent time. Like any big city the downtown area has its challenges with homelessness - San Francisco is not different but at no time did we ever feel unsafe. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would consider staying again. Pros Staff are kind and helpful Rooms are nicely decorated and have fantastic black out blinds Great location for food, shopping and all local transit Cons Windows and walls are thin- you can hear cars honking and sometimes people talking in the room next door
Solid Choice.
Weekend trip to SFO. Hotel G is a solid choice. BUT...be warned that at the next door Westin, the service union is picketing and banging metal drums from 7 am to 10 p. EVERY day. The Hotel G cant control that. Something to consider.
Every single second

Check in was pleasant, and the room was very cozy. I loved the boxed water.

Charming!
The hotel is in a great location being right by Union Square. The rooms are super charming with real hardwood floors and nice modern furnishings. The shower had good water pressure. We would definitely stay here again.
I have been a longtime customer. I stayed recently & the street signs are very confusing -at 4 PM, it turned into a tow zone. My car was towed & it cost me $750. That is not my issue with Hotel G, but it is the background. When I arrived on Tuesday, I was concerned about being towed again. I pulled in front of the hotel, the curb is marked “tow away.” There is no staff in front so I called the hotel to inquire about how to check in without getting towed. I was finally transferred to the front desk & a man told me to park in front so I explained that it was marked, “tow away “and that I had been towed recently. He was incredibly condescending - and rude. While this is going on, I can barely hear him because there is a full-blown protest/strike going on at the hotel next door. I took his word that it was safe to leave my car in a tow wave zone, went inside and was checked in to Room 715. The noise from the protest was LOUD, they are blowing horns, beating huge steel drums, blowing whistles, and screaming so loud that you can hear it over the in-room fan. I went to a store and purchased earplugs just to sleep - and could still hear them. I emailed the manager (never received a response). The hotel needs to warn guests about what is happening next door - and provide earplugs if someone chooses to stay. I fear the issue with the front desk man is more than a lack of customer service training - my guess is he often speaks to women the way he spoke to me.
Great staff, clean and modern space, convenient parking
Hotel is very quaint. Willow checked us in and out and is very attentive and friendly and very customer oriented
Overall super great stay. Early check in. Clean cozy. There was noise that was out of the hotels control. Don’t stay if the business’ around are on strike!
Good location and nice, clean room.
It’s a very old building with misleading pictures on Expedia. The place is very noisy, people were striking outside from 7am in the morning and all day. The staff messed up my ticket voucher for the valet and you have to use Westin hotel valet since Hotel G doesn’t have their own parking garage. For how much I paid, it was not worth it at all.
Great location
Really low quality finishes and beat up furniture. Temperature was regulated with a loud in-window air conditioner / heater. Would not recommend only shopping in this neighborhood during the day, but avoid at night. Staff seemed like they wanted to be helpful, but management did not.
This hotel is amazing, especially compared to the horrors of the other hotels a short distance away. Room was designed, not just slapped together. IT HAS AC - which is NOT COMMON in the area - staff was wonderful, super close to public transport and walking distance to shopping. You get what you pay for in this city more than in other places - it’s worth it.
Well kept retro-industrial feel. Safe and clean inside. Good location in walking distance to several stores and restaurant/bars. Friendly staff.
Staff was very nice and helpful
Super basic hotel in a tough neighborhood. Close to Union Sq and Financial district but basically in the tenderloin. No service- they won’t bring anything to your room. Concrete floors look modern but they should leave slippers in room. Window heat/AC unit. Clean enough if money is tight but much better choices in the area.
Everything was fine
Friendly staff, clean/updated building
This hotel is centrally located in the arts and entertainment area. We had excellent services to our disposal. Transit was a short walk away and was very efficient. The room was large and had all the amenities needed. Great gym facilities and the hotel was very quiet.
This is a very old hotel that looks like they inexpensively renovated it to appear to have a old 70’s retro theme. Almost looks dirty but its not. The bed is quite small for queen and low to ground. They have removed carpeting and left floors lacquered over what appears to be a garage cement floor( lhas a dirty vibe , but its clean) I booked this hotel last minute because i realized the other hotel i booked was in an unsafe area. The staff were fabulous to show us where to park and let us check in early for a 20.00 fee. Supposed to have robe, slippers and espresso in our room but we saw none of that. We got a 30.00 voucher for the restaurant next door but couldn't use it as we had an early flight the next morning and it wasn't open. Was safe as they lock doors at 7pm and you need your hotel key card to use the elevator. Felt very safe and great area to walk around. Overall it was a clean hotel with a cool San Francisco vibe. Not the most comfortable but did the trick for one night.
Love using Expedia, not just convenient but also useful, in my opinion is all about customer service, great service you guys!!!
Very basic room was perfect for a simple overnight stay rooms are fairly small and you can hear everything
The people was so nice helping
Great hotel. Easy access to transit, trolley, and hop on hop off buses.
Great location, staff and the room was perfect
Room was very small “Delux Room 1 king Bed”. There is a window but not much of a view. I am short so I had to get on tippy toes to look out window. AC unit is attached to window and worked well. Kept us very cool. Room was very cleanly but you can tell the room needs updated (wooden floor creaks alot and you can see water damage on wood). Bed was king size and roomy but not super comfortable. It was a bit firm and lumpy. I still slept well tho. I’m juts use to more comfortable beds. No microwave. Staff was super friendly. And this location felt safe and is great for walking to shopping/ eating/ bar hopping. I just wish the room was more updated and roomy. Lobby looks very modern and fancy tho. It’s a basic room. If you’re looking for something that isn’t run down and is in a safe area and walkable to locations you should book here. Price is meh. Everything is expensive now. Room was $126.75 but with taxes and parking we paid $233.07. I will looks for something a bit less expensive before I book here again. And if I cannot find something less expensive then I will at-least look for something that has more of a promise of a larger / updated room.
Wonderful hotel to stay at in Union Square. Very cleanly and the staff is excellent. Bedding is comfortable and the hotel has a great location to many dining spots.
This is my favorite hotel in San Francisco. You can’t beat the location, the nice & hip rooms, and the nice people who run it. I stay here every time I’m in San Francisco. ❤️
Great location
Awesome service, very clean and modern vibe. Great shopping and food options along the street. Would definitely stay again, great experience!
Hotel G is a great option in union square area on a relatively safe block. Beds are super comfortable and I appreciate the minimalist styling, nice towels, etc. Nice to have a gym though I haven't used it. I recently got a free upgrade to a suite which was very spacious and nice. I travel weekly to SF and Hotel G is my top choice (aside from Hyatt SOMA for a splurge) when it's affordable, though the rates can vary a good bit.
Hotel is Good and rooms are clean. I have booked 3 rooms and they Charged for Car Parking. It should be complementary. Spent almost $500 for three Rooms.
Two separate sets of room keys weren’t working for our room so we were moved to another room. A little annoying but front desk service was great. Room was updated and clean.
All expectations were exceeded. Fantastic place to stay. I highly recommend
This was a great place to stay for our short trip to San Fran! The parking was super convenient and the staff were great!
Great stay at a lovely hotel in Union Square. Very convenient to explore San Francisco
Great value - nice and clean spacious room. Very helpful and courteous staff
Good location and great value.
Everything was excellent
Excelent staff
Great Hotel
Hotel was clean. Hospitality was awesome! We were in the center of the city, easy to get everywhere. Just lots of transients though..but harmless. Bed was comfy and super blackout curtains.
Easy process, and secure parking (for fee) next door. 60's style loft room. Comfy bed.
What a great hotel! I loved the location and the connection the the Italian restaurant downstairs. I went for happy hour and it was delicious after a long day of playing tourist. They even provided me an upgraded room with great views, so I was very pleasantly surprised. It is near many great restaurants and Union Square. I would stay here again!
Cute hotel one block from Union Square, close to trains, trolleys, shops and restaurants. Super friendly staff and attentive service - has daily room cleaning service!!!
Clean and central hotel. Loved the friendly treatment. Easy check in and got welcomed to a complimentary wine bottle. Will definitely book here again.
Wasn't sure about the area but it was actually very quiet at night. Very friendly and helpful staff, happy to answer any questions. There's no restaurant but it's attached to the neighbouring restaurant which was very nice.
Property was a lot better than I had initially anticipated. Staff were excellent. I felt safe at the property. Doorman at night and locked 7p-7a. You’re on the same few blocks as high end shopping and $400 a night hotels. Property was clean and quiet. Will be booking again when I visit SF
The check in was very quick. Parking is close. Room was bigger than expected and a modern feel.
I liked most everything about this property. Unfortunately, San Francisco is not the city it was 10 years ago, let alone thirty. Still, the hotel does all it can to make your stay enjoyable. I liked the dark-out curtains!
The hotel is in a perfect location. The room was large and the bed very comfortable. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
Great
Everything was great. Excellent location and price. Gym had decent weights and equipment. Pillows were poor.
Walking distance to Fisherman wharf
Great Stay
Very pleasant and comfort stay. Friendly staff, spacious rooms, nice decor, and convenient location. Highly recommmend.
Looked old and sheets were not clean, found some hairs, did not offer any amenities, barely any basic toiletteries left.
Very nice
Stayed here three times now, and this is my new favorite hotel I. SF. The staff at Hotel G are the most friendly, personable staff I have ever encountered at any San Francisco hotel ever, and I have stayed in at least a dozen. It’s a nice hotel without being too swanky, and without being too unreasonably priced. Plus they have a great deal with Expedia Gold members with a later check out and free room upgrades when available. The blackout curtains are fantastic and it’s never too loud, even with street noise. Unless I’m going to a concert that’s too far away, I will be staying at Hotel G pretty much every time I’m in the city from now on.
Friendly staff, easy check in, close to union square and Chinatown. will definitely stay again.
Great location for visiting Chinatown (short walk) and shopping in San Francisco. Parking is available but expensive as in most large cities.
Older building
My room felt very heavy energy ! I didn’t have any door to my closet the sink was so small and bathroom. It wasn’t very comfortable. The room have cement floor not carpet at all the sofa had stains.
The hotel is a great location, 1 block from Union Square. The room was very big and comfortable. This hotel isn't as nice as say a Marriott with central heating/AC, but its nearly as good and more unique, without the corporate feel. The whole staff was nice and friendly, always felt safe and good there. I would stay again when wanting to come to SF next time.
Amazing stay at the Hotel G in San Francisco. Took a chance with this one as I usually stay in chain hotels, but this was phenomenal and will definitely be my go to in San Fran in the future. Comfy and spacious rooms, and I love the modern industrial feel with the concrete floors etc. Easy access to everything, including decent / cheaper dining options. Amazingly friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Liked it all!
Great hotel and staff. Area is tough but most of downtown is the same
The staff were very helpful and the rooms were very comfortable. 10/10
Pleasant and welcoming Check-In. The room was larger than I expected. I also appreciated the gift Hotel G provided. Bathroom is kind of tight quarters.
A small hotel in Union Squsre
This is in the heart of Union Square. The bed was so comfortable, the room comfortable and the staff very friendly.
Great, clean and safe older hotel
Hotel G was a nice place to stay. The hotel itself feels very safe, the concierge was great, the room was well decorated. The bathroom was beautifully updated and very clean. The hotel is an older building so the room itself had the smell of an older house/ building but that was the only negative. Restaurant in the hotel is lovely as well!
Great hotel
Recommended hotel. Large, stylish and clean room in an ideal location for tourists. Friendly and helpful staff (thank you David and Ricardo in particular). There’s a really nice pizza restaurant within the same building and a great diner for American style breakfasts directly opposite, plus several shops. No negatives that I can think of.
Great location, I felt safe throughout my stay
Great customer service
Bathrobes have black stains and there is a smell.
Excellent _ Hotel G
Wonderful people here, Excellent service ! Great location ! Fabulous restaurant 😋
Great staff who are very friendly. Beautiful rooms. Looking forward to my next stay.
Very nice
Super helpful and friendly staff who went over and beyond to make us feel welcome and assist with questions. We loved the spacious room and amenities. Highly recommend staying at this hotel again!
I'm really enjoying this hotel and I will look to stay here whenever I can. The hotel is attractive, the room upgrade was exquisite and the aesthetic and decor blend a spartan modern style with comfortable furnishings. The bed was very comfortable. My only gripe was that the glass shower door did not have a catch plate or a rubber strip at the bottom, so quite a bit of water came out through the gap between the glass and the tile. Staff were friendly and super helpful. Despite the grime and homeless activity outside, the hotel was very clean, safe, and inviting.
The staff is consistently incredible. Love the restaurant/bar. The phone in my room didn’t seem to work unless you used speaker, and the shower was a bit funky to navigate. Literally everything else was perfect. Easily one of the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever been in. Can’t wait to stay again.
Loved the comfortable bed. Only used for sleeping but staff always friendly and helpful
Room was excellent. Super comfortable bed, pillows, excellent shower.
Excellent staff and service, the hotel was also very conveniently located.
Great hotel in perfect location
Great hotel, located in a perfect area, near restaurants and shops. Hotel was clean and staff was very friendly. Highly recommended.
Walking distance to businesses and easy access to public transportation. Great place and very affordable.
Staff were helpful and friendly.
I’ve enjoyed visiting this hotel on several occasions. Staff are friendly, rooms are clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the room upgrade thanks to Expedia. Will definitely stay again.
Horrible
Cute old and quirky hotel. Charming and the Italian restaurant is fun
Very charming hotel, modernized older building with clean rooms and comfortable beds. The only issues were that there was only one elevator working at the time and the significant amount of homeless using hard drugs near Union Square.
Overall would recommend UNLESS you are a light sleeper and/or dont have earplugs. Everything was clean, the room was spacious, the staff was friendly, the bed was a good medium-firmness. But the girls celebrating until 2am in their room next door (or above? below?) being perfectly loud for folks in their own room, might as well have been in my room. I drifted in and out of sleep till they settled down, and Im a pretty sound sleeper. Anyway, either the walls are super thin, or there's an open vent between our rooms that funnels sound between them.
Staff was excellent Old dirty baseboards but clean otherwise Lobby floor n elevator floors need replaced But overall I was very satisfied Thanks for good customer service!
