Its okay
Very good for the price i paid, clean room was well apointed.
This place sucks!
The first thing that hit me walking into the room. Was the overpowering smell of an antiseptic cleaner. Which means they don’t clean. They spray! Also, the man at the reception was very unfriendly and rude. He wasn’t helpful at all. They need to send him to charm school or fire him.
Perfect place
Little Gem
This Hotel, is a little gem. It's easy to find, and is close to conscience store, metro, buses and taxis. Within easy walk to Old Town. The staff are friendly and helpful, English is fine (for those who may worry), the rooms are basic, but clean and reasonably spacious. The bathroom good size and clean. The breakfast are basic, but plentiful. They cater all types whether you are diabetic, vegan or vegetarian. This little gem is just that, a pleasant gem. And more so if you are only using it to sleep and keep ya things safe.
Very good location & good facilities
Good location. There is parking nearby. Good service and excellent price
We had a short stay but the room was big and spacious and clean, couldn’t fault it, amazing location as well
Hotel was fine and did the job required
I regularly choose this hotel for brief stays because it's ultracentral AND convenient to the airport by public transportation. The rooms are simple but well equipped and flawlessly clean. Staff is attentive. Breakfast could be better. Both Dukes (Romana and Armeneasca) are great value.
In a good location 15 min walk to old town and nearby metro and bus stops. The staff are very kind and helpful. Breakfast is very good and sufficient but it would be nice if there is a little change from one day to the other
Great place for tourists
I was warmly welcomed by the staff, and given a lovely room. The location is super central. The breakfast was good and fresh. I can't wait to go again.
Great staff, very friendly and helpful, will stay there again.
Stay at the Duke
It was good
Great location kind staff great amenities and comfort
It's a good hotel, in good condition and with a good service. However as a tourist it isn't really located in the most interesting spot of the city (but nearby a metro station).
I recently had a highly disappointing stay at Duke Hotel. First and foremost, the cleanliness was appalling. The room was not properly cleaned, and there were visible dirt and stains everywhere. To make matters worse, there were significant issues with the hot water, making showers uncomfortable and unpleasant. The biggest letdown, however, was the management. The manager seemed completely indifferent to anything but making money. Due to a booking mistake with Expedia, I ended up booking the wrong nights. Despite the hotel already receiving payment for the two nights I didn’t stay, they insisted I pay full price for an additional night. I was willing to pay, but they charged me the full price even though their reception sign recommended a price that was half of what I was billed. When I raised this issue, the manager dismissively said, "It is what it is." Overall, the experience was terrible, and I would not recommend Duke Hotel to anyone. The lack of cleanliness, hot water issues, and the uncaring attitude of the management made for an unpleasant stay.
Very good hotel
Good hotel, good location, good staff, good price
Very centrally located. The hotel is well-kept. The breakfast was nice. There are several restaurants and stores within short walking distances from the hotel. While the employee during my check-in was a bit unfriendly, all the other employees were very nice and friendly.
Good location of about 15min walk to the old town. Free buffet breakfast. The only thing to complaun about was the cold showers as the water was seldom warm.
A Good Experience
Despite a few outside phone in calls wrongfully handle by the receptionist in the middle of the night, and the loud vocally next door neighbors in the last evening, overall, the experience at the Hotel Duke - Romana was satisfactory. Its central location makes an easy access to the city transportation and the touristic objectives. I have to express my thanks to the breakfast service staff and the last but not the least, to the attentive manager for my inquiries. Next visit to Bucharest will be The Hotel Duke - Romana, no doubt.
Would think twice before booking here again
The hotel is definitely a poor 4*s, rather a good 3*s, or a decent 3.5*s at best. The personnel is awesome, starting with the reception and continuing with the service in the breakfast area and the cleaning lady (Mihaela?) ... the personnel was not at fault for the large bugs on premises (took picture and showed at reception), or for the elevator not working one morning (had to go up 6 floors, involuntary fitness session).
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Went out their way to help. Always polite. Would easily recommend others to use in the future.
Room was very clean and comfortable
Nice hotel. Not very far from old town. Good transport connection to centre and airport. Hotel staff very helpful. Also good breakfast.
Great hotel :-)
Excellent !
Comfortable stay
The room was so heat. The night receptionist didn't succeeded to turn it off and didn't succeeded to find a manager, another solution (like change room). I didn't sleep even for o single minute.
can't really complain about anything
very good location of this hotel, just a short walk to old town, there's also a supermarket across the street, the north train station is 25 minutes away by foot. The breakfast was tasty and a good variety of foods. I liked that there was a kettle in the room. My room was quite OK when it comes to the street noise - the hotel is located by the busy streets and a roundabout but I didn't hear it that much in my room. The hotel seems to struggle with the space for a luggage storage.
Nice hotel
Everything was ok, the hotel is very nice and close to everything! I recommend!
Good quality and clean. Breakfast option available at a reaonabl price.
We stayed at this hotel for two nights. Overall it was a pleasant stay with a few exceptions. the staff, when we checked in, was welcoming, offered to help with luggage as we had no elevator available because our apartment was in a next door villa. One of the 2 bedroom beds was clean. Overall it look clean until next day when my sister made her bed and had to use the shower. I liked the location, even though Expedia didn’t show it on their website, this apartment wasn’t in the actual hotel building but in a next door villa. A few things I did not like at all were : that one of the 2 bedrooms beds was dirty in a place where one would not look unless you were purposefully inspecting for cleanliness. We were way to tired to inspect the rooms for that and we SHOULD NOT have to. The rooms should be clean upon arrival. We asked for new sheets and they came made the bed. A Big THANK YOU for that ! The shower drainage was extremely slow.too long of a story to write about here. Hopefully they fix the drain issue. When my friend complained about the dry poop on her bedsheets the day after our first night there, one of the managers insinuated that she had done that and asked why did she not inspect for cleanliness upon arrival. I’ve spent a lot of time in 3 star hotels in USA and never had to inspect for cleanliness.
Our room had a slanted ceiling so we could only stand up in certain areas - we both kept banging our heads on the ceiling - and I’m not particularly tall. It was very hot in the room and the AC didn’t work very well. Breakfast was included which was ok, staff all seemed friendly enough. We wouldn’t stay again though due to the temperature in the room and the fact we couldn’t stand up - we didn’t spend much time in the room because it wasn’t comfortable.
Everything was very pleasant & comfortable
Great Experience.
Excellent hotel situated in the best location for our needs. We stayed for three days and got the 72 hours multiple card for bus and tram only for just 20 ron each. With this card we travelled to all our destinations including the huge and modern Mega Mall. (Bus 86 just around the corner from the hotel). The people at the front desk very accommodating especially Cosmin and Dragush. We will defenetily go back:) PS: If you need to shave bring with you a wireless shaver because in our two bed room 902 there was no plug in the bathroom.
very nice
Great stay
Great in every way. Location, clean, comfortable, and value.
Great hotel, great location. All staff were kind and efficient. I will go back again
Very friendly staff. Room was clean, breakfast was tasty.
Excellent 2 nights stay!
Good hotel with excellent customer service! We’ll use it again when in the City!
I liked the room, the staff is courteous, helpful. Breakfast has different choices. Is a good location to go sight seeing in Bucharest, you have reliable public transportation like the bus, subway and cab if you would need one.Its safe to walk in the area at 9-111 pm at night by yourself.
Although I knew from the site about the room's dimensions,I didn't expect the plan of the room to be so uncomfortable for me.Anyhow,it was only an extremely short stay, for a couple of hours and the price was ok.
Nice service, good location, hardy breakfast!
ok for late arrival flight. 30 minutes by 738 night bus and less than 50 meters from bus stop. OK to explore the city public transport , near metro and main bus routes. All junk food and a big supermarket are nearby. The breakfast is good . The bed and shower are very nice. Will stay again.
Exceptionally situated in the true heart of Bucharest, seconds from public transportation to everything (including airport and the station). Basic but quiet rooms with everything you need. Flawlessly nice staff. Amazing value.
Nice room, very helpful staff
I had a nice 2 day stay here, I did not spend a lot of time in my room, but it was perfect for what I wanted and the price I paid, Staff was very nice and helpful
Good overall
Clean room. Good daily breakfast if you choose. Airport shuttle convenient. No room service, but there is a fridge .
The most important we chose the hotel because of the heat wave outside. Still the central system air conditioning was not working either in the rooms or in the lobby of the hotel. I went several times to the service desk, the employee said that it was working, although it did not blow cold air at all. We spent the night turning into the bed. Another problem was the parking, after we paid for it we were greeted by an individual at the parking place pointing out that the whole Enterprise was illegal.
Need of improvement.
No temperature controller, no thermometer, the air in the room questionable. A lot of things to be improved.
Clean room, good breakfast, gentle personnel.
The reception lady was very kind at check in. However the room was damp with wet carpet which was somehow getting wet from the bathroom. Air conditioning was not working (at 37 C outside) and to top it all up there was mould im the room. The worst part…I found bed bugs in the morning so I have to now spend a lot of money to treat all my belongings.
Enjoyable stay
Very comfy bed. Well appointed room. It was clean, though the carpet was stained. Good location, close to metro and shops.
The carpet was stained and there was mould in the shower. For a 3* hotel it was a bit below what I expected, but I would not rule it out as a future option.
Brilliant thank you for all
.
Clean and modern rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location.
Very pleasant stay, staff was friendly and attentive.
Great value - I had a spacious, quiet room with a large bathroom. Service from the bar was prompt, friendly, unassuming. The location is excellent for visiting on foot AND public transportation anywhere, including the airport. I really enjoyed my (brief) stay and will return.
Great location and friendly staff. Only inconvenience was the lack of a window that could be open in my room, therefore relying on A/C only
Location was really good Breakfast not the best
There was no shower, only a bathtub without a curtain and the whole bathroom got wet.
The hotel was not cooperating in any way. Due to the virus
The room very old. Smell very bad and cigarettes too. All the floor smell cigarettes.
I liked the location but I did not like the noise and too much heat in the room and also the shower too small.
The room temperature was too high, 28 Celcius, no possibility to adjust. I was lucky enough that the window could be opened.
Great location, it's own parking lot, good breakfast, the staff is friendly but needs some training!...
Excellent stay ! This is an awesome property with a great location. Excellent attention to detail and nice amenities. I would highly recommend staying here.
Great downtown location very easy to get to, service is great, super flawless experience. Bed a bit small for my taste but all good for something quick and convenient.
Great Hotel
מלון נחמד מאוד - חדר מרווח ונקי, ארוחת בוקר טובה ומגוונת, הפקידים בקבלה נחמדים ואדיבים, פשוט מעולה. A very nice hotel - Spacious and clean room, Good and diversified breakfasts, The Receptionists are polite and nice, Simply great.
I did like the price and cleanliness of the hotel. Also it’s allocation so close to the city centre
Small room, single bad, cental place, Good price deal, noisy aircondition Cant open window, problems with the key room
Was a good location and friendly staff. Very small room. Comfy beds. We were moved because our shower was leaking through the roof. Went to the next room and had a shower and noticed that the floor was completely soaked after. So out of 2 rooms we had very badly leaking showers. The breakfast buffet was not worth the money.
good location. lack of information for tourists - maps or even direction to a tourist information center
Very nice hotel, excellent location and courteous staff.
I like the location but on the other hand, being near a very busy street, it is noisy. The carpets are dirty and have spots. It is obvious that they have never been steam cleaned. I’m not sure the bed sheets have been changed after the last patron... that’s s big turn off for me.
Everything is perfect in that property and its near to bus stops, old town etc
some negatives but would book again, good location
Ideal location in central Bucharest, comfortable rooms, elevator, Wifi. No idea where one would park if they had a rental car (did not have one). Generally clean except for carpets which were vacuumed but had many stains (regular steaming would be advisable) and the usual mold stains around bathtub sealant, a very common sight in Romania (they cherish their bathroom mold). Neutral to fresh smell in room, which is good. Wifi a bit flaky - reasonably good signal in room, almost no signal in bed. We came on business so we felt wifi signal can use improvement. Bkfst substandard, given Romania is the land of good food: excellent warm bread but awful coffee from a machine with substitutes, poor quality of cold cuts, few choices, no pastry. Bkfst starts at 7 - we had to leave for business earlier and the 'cold breakfast' in a bag was as follows: (for 2 people) 1 whole kiwi (how to eat kiwi on the way?), 1 small yoghurt cup without spoon, 1 dry and awful orange, no napkins, 2 small sandwiches that went directly where they came from - the garbage bin. I think the cost of bkfst is EUR 12 per person - it is a scam. Moreover, no one checks who goes for bkfst so we could have eaten it w/o paying. However, it would not be worth the effort. The beds are more comfortable than the average bed in Europe. Ours had a clean mattress and a clean extra pad for softness. The sheets are white, clean cotton. White cotton towels were clean. Stairs have risers with unequal heights - watch your step!
I thought this hotel was very nice and suited my needs ,its a come and go hotel the without the staff being all over you.Check in was very easy The girl on the reception being very helpful. The room was nice and clean and had a fridge/mini bar with was so needed in the Bucharest heat. Breakfast was a choice of eggs and sausages and mushrooms etc or cold meats and bread an fruit juices and other things. The hotel is well situated being near Piata Romana metro or a walk down the Boulavard to the old town and other places There is a kfc and Macdonalds at the Piata Romana and various cafes and restaurants around the locality
The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly
I liked the two rooms and two bathrooms. Spacious and clean.
It was only a 25 minute walk to Old Town and right next to a hop on, hop off stop.
Great Hotel
Very nice hotel. Perfect location in Piata Romana, close to Metro Station. The staff was professional and friendly. Rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. We’ve been going through a heat wave in Bucharest and the A/C worked great. Definitely we are going to recommend this hotel.
Everything nice and clean, good price, quiet, twin room did the job.
Good hotel for money
Very good hotel location. Cleanliness of room.
Bucharest
Brilliant
Nice room, good location. Parking a little far and receptionist did not suggest to leave the luggage in front of the hotel before parking so we had to carry it back. But this is the only minus I could think of. :)
Very reasonable stay, central, nice and healpful staf.
Generally speaking this place fits all my needs, it’s close to the Subway which takes you to Old town and Park directly, and stuff is very helpful if you need information, the room is clean and the price is fair for its level, but the room for a single bed is a little bit small and narrow. Overall it’s a decent hotel
Excellent central location, not suitable for wheelchair users, plumbing outdated, i.e. shower temperature changes if someone else uses the bathroom in another room. Good food.
Nice 3 stars hotel.
Well centered location, close to main attractions and centre of the city. Easy check in pricess although we arrived after midnight. Clean room. Linen and toeels are smelling really good. Beautiful view from 6th floor. Quite at night. Cons: not real 4 star as advertised. It has the basics. The curtains dont provide complte blackout so you wake at sunrise (as it rises through our window) and which is pretty early ar arround 6:20am. The place looks abit old but i dont really care because i just use the room for sleeping overnight. Cant judge the breakfast because i didnt take it.
The staff was not very helpful. They did not help us with the suitcases.
I enjoyed my time at this hotel. The room was large, clean and the staff very friendly. This hotel at a very good location with easy access to public transport, shops and restaurants.
Hotel Duke Romana was exactly what I was looking for. A clean, quiet, centrally located base for exploring Bucharest. The staff was very nice, there were no hidden fees, and it was well known by all my taxi drivers and tour operators. No complaints at all. I look forward to staying with them again.
Good location downtown
Good value for the money. Central location. Breakfast and dinner were good but wold be nice to have a lot more diversity
Very nice hotel. Safe and secure. The food forbreakfast and dinner was excellent. Very helpful, pleasant staff. Recommend this hotel greatly.
Great location, some rooms so-so.
Overall this was alright, but on check-in the room they gave me wasn't like photos in the Hotels.com listing (much smaller) and the receptionist there wasn't very helpful. That first room was also very stinky and had no openable window. They were able to change me the next day, but to a room on the top floor with a slanted ceiling (easy to hit your head). Only real complaint was the black mold on the wall by the A/C. Wifi worked well.

Excellent value for a central hotel
Great hotel in an excellent location, just a 2 minute walk from the 100 bus stop (to/from Otopeni airport) restaurants and takeaways within easy walking distance. We had a suite which was huge with 2 bathrooms, lovely warm room despite the thick snow outside. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Only stayed one night but would definitely stay again. Value for money was excellent for a city centre hotel.
