Dec 2024 stay
Stay in a suite facing the park. Room large and well appointed, bathroom large with bath for two. Cons did not detract from having a good stay but should be considered: shower leaks all over floor due to no door (open on two sides) bathroom door has clear glass so you can see someone sat on the loo (why??!), single glazing meant windows were full of condensation, party in the venue meant screaming shouting people, thankfully ended by 11pm. Decor and furniture is tired but ok
Beautiful property and location. Really great staff. Nice restaurant and bar.
Accessible by car. Friendly hotel i deal for a business visit. Helpful staff. Will return.
Excellent stay, very good service. The room I stayed in could do with some cosmetic attention, painting etc. otherwise good
Room only
Good stay - good hotel and staff Just one blip: I got charged for bfast on my card without having any! Room only booking Would have been nice to have had a call before just charging my card - it was a lucky spot on my statement that made me query this charge. Hoping fora refund soon. I will return anyway - as it was a good stay.
Family Event so many meals and a big party at hotel. Wonderful service and hospitality
The hotel and room was good except we took our cockapoo and had a dog friendly room. We were on the ground floor and the window was by the smoking shelter so he had to close it due to the smell. During the night the room got so hot and the air conditioning unit was broken. Our dog was really restless as he was so hot. the remote control said the room was 28 degrees. At 2am we took him outside to cool down and the night manger offered us a fan for the room. that made a big difference. We all had a really bad nights sleep though
Hotel Du Vin Cannizzaro Housr
We’ve walked many times in the grounds at Cannizzaro House & eaten in the Orangery, so it was really nice to stay here for 2 nights. It met all our expectations, except the breakfast. Considering the quality of the hotel & the food for dinner and room service, the breakfast was a let down. However, the rest of our stay was fabulous - we upgraded from a classic room to a Deluxe. The room was large, spacious & nicely furnished. We had a lovely view out to the from over the ground and over to Wimbledon Common. The bed was extremely cosy & comfortable, the bathroom had a large deep bathtub with nice shower over. It’s so rare to get a nice bathtub in hotels nowadays, so it was a pleasant surprise. We had dinner the first night, was excellent and room service the second night. All in all, a great stay & would definitely stay here again if we needed, 5*
Wimbledon
Great setting, friendly staff,
Exceptional and friendly customer service, really comfortable and clean room (deluxe double). I relaxed as soon as i arrived.
Grand hotel with very comfortable bedrooms in beautiful setting within easy walking distance of Wimbledon village. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. On-site parking.
I definitely miss the lavazza /nespresso coffee machines in every rooms that disappeared since Covid in this hotel for some type of rooms…..I have stayed here for years and I love my first coffee of the morning and the coffee alternative they offer now is really chintzy, subpar and tasteless. For me it is disappointing.
Ask for quiet room
Room above staff exit and delivery arrival. Extremely noisy late at night with staff smoking and very early delivery lorries.
A very pleasant place to stay.
It was a great stay in a beautiful setting
Building was tired, nice room though
Loved our stay!!
A very enjoyable stay at this property which is located on Wimbledon Common and a short walk from the delightful Wimbledon Village. The staff were very friendly from the moment we checked in until our departure after a two night stay. The rooms are very spacious and our room looked out over Canizarro Park. The highlight of our stay was the breakfast which is served in the wonderful Orangery. My only negative is that guests are charged £12 to park in the hotel car park.
Lovely staff front and back of house. Breakfast was superb and staff service excellent. They had some internal works going on but you would not really know. Hotel was in lovely location
I really enjoy staying here, I find the staff very helpful and friendly and full of knowledge, Thank You
One night stay - great service.
One night stay, great service at reception and in the bar. Good size room with views over the gardens. Bath and shower. Breakfast buffet and al a carte menu. We will stay again when in the area
Wonderful location and lovely staff
First trip with our dog, he was spoiled and reluctant to leave. The grounds and local amenities were fantastic for him. Most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept it. A twin socket next to the beds would be ideal, swapping between the lamp and phone charger wasn’t the best. No loo brush pointed out by my husband was surprising but other than that, really pleasant. I was told on the phone that the charge for the dog was a one off but I was charged per night and this did smart. The hotel charge of £12 per night for parking should also be clearly stated at time of booking.
Pretty good, but could be better.
Great service, pretty good food, large room, worn-out mattress.
really kind staff who work in the breakfast area
This is an older hotel. The food is ok. The bathtub and shower combo is difficult to manage because the tub is so high and deep it’s hard to climb into. Then the water from the shower sprays everywhere soaking the entire bathroom and leaves a lake on the bathroom floor. The location is quiet.
Lovely character house, great location and staff
Very welcoming and helpful staff. Great location with former house gardens to the rear a lovely public park. Breakfast and dinner in the Orangery is a lovely experience.
It is a beautiful manor house with walkable access to Wimbledon Village. A complimentary shuttle service to the village would also be nice if it's cold or wet, then people wouldn't need want to walk through the commons in nice shows to get to dinner. The gardens around the property and the access to walking trails in the common are very nice for nature walks. They need more staff and better trained staff in the restaurant. The Sunday table service staff seemed overwhelmed. Front desk staff were very friendly.
Mathao and Dominic was very courtious.
Just back from a few days at Cannizaro House . We had a lovely stay , I would definitely recommend . Planning our next trip there again soon !
Excellent location and wonderful hotel. All went very smoothly and was a great experience.
Stylish and comfortable and service works well
Beautiful location in Wimbledon. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Had a fantastic stay. Would highly recommend
Weekend visit
Always a pleasure to return.
Inedible eggs
The room was comfortable, food was terrible. Both the breakfast and evening meal was the worst I have had in a U.K. hotel for a very long time
Another comfortable stay in this excellent setting with on-site parking. Friendly, helpful staff always make the stay more enjoyable.
Staff were very welcome and accommodating. Location and accommodation fantastic!
Beautiful setting and room was fantastic.
Beautiful house and gardens
The hotel is fine, and room clean, though I would question the bathroom cleaning as I needed to give the bath a good wipe before using it. Bed was really comfortable and amenities fine. The windows need to be replaced quite urgently - really mouldy frame, not helped by no fan in the bathroom. Free glass of champagne with our booking, though it was a shame we were initially told we'd already been given a glass, which we had not! Breakfast was great and lots of choices.
Great stay
Great stay. Very quiet, and comfortable. Breakfast delicious and staff friendly.
As always the wonderful staff make this hotel.
A very attractive and comfortable hotel in a convenient, quiet location on the Common, with courteous, friendly and helpful staff.
All round excellent hotel.
Excellent location, great service and kind staff
Fantastic stay. Warm welcome by staff. Thanks Anna from BC :)
Love it
Second time here. Love it.
Lovely Hotel, extremely poor service.
A beautiful building that is now a little tired internally and is due a refurbishment, especially in the bar and our bedroom suite (bathroom was fine). The bed and bedding was extremely comfortable. What really lets this hotel down is the service from staff which is such a shame as this is easily sorted with good management! The bar staff were possibly the worst we have ever come across, useless! Breakfast service wasn’t much better but the breakfast itself was good.
Friendly staff and a very peaceful place to stay.
Arrived 5pm on cold wet November evening. The delux room was stone cold with the heating turned off in both the bedroom and bathroom. Was not informed the aircon in this room only blows cold air even when set to 23c. Turn radiator on in bedroom which made continuous noise so difficult to sleep. Property is tired although bathroom seems recently renovated.
Would definitely stay again!
Hotel was very clean. Staff was very friendly, but when they booked us a car to the airport, they failed to tell us that some of the companies they deal with insist on being paid in cash.
Lovely hotel in a lovely area. However, it's now quite expensive and no porter to assist with luggage. When I arrived I was told the room was on first floor, so I went with all my luggage and couldn't find my room. Returned to reception, to be told the room was down some stairs. Still could not locate the room so returned to reception again to be told they had told me the wrong floor. Even though there were 3 staff at reception, no one offered to show me the room or help with bags. It appears to be an expensive hotel with low level of service options. Surely even a trolley would help. Think i may look for a full service hotel next time as the price would be comparable.
Weekend stay
Staff were friendly and accommodating. Food as great.
Arrived at 9.10 to be told by reception that restaurant was open then to be told it was shut at 9pm. Was offered lounge menu then to be told it was just baguettes Room was tired and old fashioned
Beautiful Hotel with a fantastic team
The hotel is beautiful and set right onto Wimbledon Common, just 5 minute walk into the village. There is plenty of parking, which is a treat when visiting London! The whole staff team were super friendly. The hotel itself is lovely, set in beautiful surroundings and the cleanliness and decor of the rooms were 10/10. We can’t wait to return.
Staff was very accommodating. A very quaint friendly hotel. There was a mishap in the booking of our room at the onset but the staff made up for it in spades.
Staff were very helpful and friendly, with my queries and service was excellent, a great stay, thank you
Not a great stay here.. was left for over 45 minutes just waiting in the lobby for someone to give me a key card to my room. No explanation as to why or anything just left there. Ordered breakfast to my room pre paid for. It never arrived and I was there for business and had to leave. I was told I’d receive my refund for my breakfast and an email confirmation with my receipt. That didn’t happen. Wouldn’t stay here again.
Sensational and memorable stay
Sensational, we have stayed here twice before but this time was extra special. Staff extremely helpful and the breakfast is out of this world. We enjoyed having the park to ourselves every morning before it was open to the public. You wont be disappointed so please visit.
Great staff and location. Shower wasn’t the best.
Beautiful room, very spacious, great decor in the bar area and fantastic breakfast freshly made. staff were very helpful and attentive. I would definitely love to stay here again and as it was post Wimbledon the rate was very good for the quality of the hotel. I guess the only comment was, still water in the room not sparkling (which it was) would be preferable (or both) but that is my preference.
Great location with beautiful surroundings. Really good hotel
Could be better.
The hotel decor itself was tired, not what I expected grom Hotel Du Vin. The bed was comfy and the bathroom clean. No room service/food available on arrival back from a long day. Even in budget hotels Ive been able to get something in my room late. Breakfast - ordered eggs benedict with feild mushroom. Field mushroom was undercooked and very watery. Eggs whites undercooked and the worst, hard toasted sweeter than sweet muffin. It does sit in a very beautiful atea of Wimbledon and a cab into Chelsea is only £40. Wouldn't stay again.
Very poor
One particular waiter was so rude, it left me feeling really upset. Table not cleared for 45 minutes after finishing main course, then told too late for desert. Sheet too small for bed. Not tucked in. Woke up on bare mattress. Food poisoning - poorly tummy for two days. Told would contacted by manager. Three days on we've heard nothing. Two rooms for £650 for deeply upsetting experience
This is the last of many stays for us in this property ans we stay there every time we come to London and as always the staff is amazing and goes way beyond making us feel at home. We will be back soon!
Location was excellent. Staff were amazing! Special shout out to Anna who fixed our minor issue immediately. Some furniture needs a little touch up. Forgot to mention the restaurant is awesome too.
Surprised for a 4 star hotel that it was not double glazed. We were woken up at 6.45 by the staff pushing trollies right outside our window (having asked for a quiet room). Thought not having room numbers but names was a bizarre idea and made finding your room an unnecessary chore. Also surprised no USB port in room despite there being several double plug sockets. Reception had an adapter though when we asked. One other strange one was how close the toilet was to the wall. Otherwise the room was very nice, the rain shower good and car park easy to use.
Restaurant service not good food average
The bed was comfy however the service in the restaurant was not good both dinner and breakfast needs looking into. The only way to get a waiter's attention was to walk out of the restaurant into the foyer. On arriving for breakfast was not told that the order for hot food and drinks would be taken at the table. My Tiramasu desert was rubbery and 1/2 inch of cocoa powder, not good.
Creaky floor will keep you awake!
Hard to sleep with the creaky floors, every time someone walked past the room (which seemed to be all night) I was woken up. Also no bottle of water in the room, not sure if you are meant to drink from the bathroom sink but who knows what state the old pipes are in!
Country setting, close to Wimbledon village.
Lovely staff and accommodations.
Consistently Excellent
Yet another super stay, look forward to returning early May
Excellent property, in the heart of Wimbledon common. 10mins walk to the high street. Excellent accommodating staff, on site parking, L’Occitane toiletries, huge bathtub, and walk in shower in the Oak room. Super king bed, fit our very small family. Huge 70” TV, and great views of the common. Can’t ask for me at all, have been previously will definitely come again.
Great location for Wimbledon Village. Rooms a bit dated and very hot!
Lovely hotel with great rooms and bar/restaurant. All members of staff were incredibly helpful, providing great service. I would highly recommend and will be staying again.
As per comments. Expensive but comfortable
The ambiance & location
Lovely place
Beautiful place! Understand short staffing but you need to get your restaurant/bar staff up to speed The wifi is atrocious for 2023 SW19 Come on I woulds love to go back m any times but need better wifi
Good stay
Staff lovely, bed comfy overall a good stay
Excellent Stay Experience
It all went to plan. Staff led by Greg were particularly good and helpful
Had a great stay staff were all really friendly and polite and the hotel is in a fantastic position on the common
Not as good as it was.
We have been staying here for a number of years each time we are in town visiting my brother. Last time we were disappointed as we were in an incredibly noisy room near to a function room, but all else was great. This time the hotel was great in advance and had us booked in a quiet room. However, each morning of our two night stay there was no hot water for the shower. Not what I expect from a hotel, especially given sub zero temperatures outside. Further, the room was very dusty and not of a cleanliness level I would expect. We also booked a taxi for 10am on the first morning and it did not arrive until 10:20 causing us to miss my nieces. The staff were friendly, but no notes made on any of the issues reported, given the reception staff were unaware at check out. The breakfast charge was also wrong. The staff member did credit the breakfast, but I am still bitter given that I paid £609 for our 2 night stay.
Windowless Room And Poor Service At Breakfast
I’ve always wanted to stay at a Hotel Du VIN but felt very disappointed really. We were put in a ground floor room which had no window to speak of as half of it was blacked out. For the price of our room I really do think this is atrocious!! At breakfast I asked for one thing only from the waiting staff ( the only man working on Sunday morning ) and he completely forgot us and just mustard for my breakfast never arrived. I know these things aren’t massively important BUT for a hotel of that standard and price, I really did expect MUCH more.
Good standards, nice location, clean room Tick, Tick, Tick
Highly recommended but pay for a park view
Outstanding venue, lovely restaurant overlooking park. Staff were great. Breakfast and dinner excellent. Minor issue was that we booked a standard room and although asked for if possible for it to be quiet was facing the car park which was fine on Sunday but quite noisy on a Monday.
Disappointing
The service upon arrival was excellent as was the rooms save that ours was a little dark due to location and lighting. We were however very disappointed when we and friends who we had also booked for arrived back at the hotel late evening to find the bar closed and no night porter. The worst part was the state of the lounge and bar area. every table was covered in dirty used glasses and crockery, not what we expect from a hotel of this level. we are due to stay again next week with friends and will be re-thinking this as we enjoy a late night relax and nightcap when we return to the hotel.
Short but perfect stay
Fantastic hotel with very comfortable rooms. We has a Standard Park View room which perfectly suited our needs. The bar was superb and we enjoyed their tasty Old Fashioned cocktails. Next time we stay we hope to use the restaurant - which looked excellent.
A perfect place to stay outside of London, but so close and the atmosphere of the countryside. The hotel is clean, beautiful gardens and the Common outside the front doors.
Super comfortable bed but waterproofing under mattress cover and synthetic duvet filling made the bed hot to sleep in. My silk pillowcase which I left on the bed by mistake was not handed in to reception despite looking different to the hotel pillowcases. When I called to enquire if it was found, I was told it had gone to the laundry with the rest of the linen but would be in reception for me to collect on Monday. It was not! When I dropped in the man in charge of linen told me that it all goes to a laundry service and despite a delivery yesterday it was not in that batch. I am hoping it will be returned and left my name and phone number. Conservatory lunchtime is rather bare and my salad sadly tasteless though lovely and fresh.
I just went to stay for a couple days and only used hotel for sleeping (i.e. no restaurants or hanging out in lobby or anything of the sort) - all in all, a clean hotel, professional staff and comfortable bed. That's all I needed.
Overrated
Reception staff were good but the seating and bar staff were very disappointing, waited nearly 20 mins for service so just left. Not even that busy. Ended up walking to a nearby pub and had excellent service.
Very nice stay and lovely girl served us in the restaurant .
Very comfortable overnight stay. We had a nice dinner as well.
So-so
Lack of amenities, ie gym/pool/health etc Breakfast was great, choice amazing but dinner was mediocre. For the price, not overly impressed..
Lovely stay in the edge of a park.
Wonderful stay. Room was a good size and excellent cleanliness. Breakfast was very good and all the staff were friendly. Bar area doesnt have much atmosphere but the hotels rear terrace opens directly onto Cannizaro Park and thats a lovely area to have drinks in good weather. The hotel is a 15 minute walk across The Common to Wimbledon Village where there are numerous bars and restaurants. Just down the road (5 mins walk) is the Hand in Hand Pub.
A very pleasurable experience
Hard to find fault with this hotel. Wonderful position overlooking the common and the delightful Cannizaro Park behind it. Check in was prompt and seamless, our room clean and the bed very comfortable. The service was excellent and we had a delicious family Sunday lunch and two very tasty unhurried breakfasts.
Wonderful hotel.
Receptionist was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was bang average.
Great staff and location, although I would not say it is kid friendly.
Loved it I would go back.
