It is a decent option to stay overnight in La Serena.

Wonderful to be so close to beach and still reasonably priced. The staff were helpful and supportive when I asked for help getting a taxi. Great location as it’s a block from the beach with the lighthouse being right there.

Ok location, decent size rooms, bathrooms could be in better conditions they need an update.

The hotel was modern and comfortable. Easy transportation options to get around the area as well.

The hotel was close to the beach but it was very noisy. We were given a room by the elevator and with two double beds instead of a king as reserved. They said they did not have any other rooms. The toilet did not flush well and toilet seat was falling off. The staff were very nice though.

Old hotel infrastructure, poor maintenance, but you can live with it. Rooms very standard without any luxury. Breakfast buffet very standard. I missed papayas which are from the zone.

It was just a quick overnight but a lovely hotel and friendly staff

Very comfortable hotel within walking distance of several restaurants and, of course, the beach. Nice buffet breakfast. Cheerful staff. Clean and spacious rooms. Very easy free parking.

A/C did not work, No hot water, fridge leaking, impossible to close windows. Had to cancel the reservation and find another hotel!! Worst hotel ever visited….

The staff was very friendly. Very nice business hotel. Pool looked very inviting but no swimsuits so we could not enjoy. Restaurant was clean, staff friendly and quick.

The staff at the hotel was extremely helpful, especially Alex. They assisted us with many phone calls and re-bookings for travel that was disrupted. I have never met more caring and gracious people!

Quality hotel close to the beach.

This is a clean hotel with spacious rooms and comfortable beds. A short walk to the beach. Breakfast was a little underwhelming. Staff was helpful, though U.S. travelers be aware that English is not spoken here.

We were in room 414. The window will not lock. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel is modern and clean.

Room was starting to look a little bit worn and tired. As the bathroom wasn’t very clean. Service at breakfast was terrible! Everyone was miserable and unhelpful.

A very modern hotel with large rooms, close to the beach. BUT the beach is not close to anywhere else--most of the city is elsewhere--and there is nothing in the hotel's area except some new apartment blocks. So you have to eat in the hotel restaurant, which has mediocre service. Breakfast was worse--eggs burnt and then left to go cold. Also the rooms have no heating which is a problem at some times of year (like when I was there) and I could not make the a/c heating function work. Conclusion: recommended if you have t be near the beach, but otherwise look elsewhere, as I did for a second trip to La Serena (I actually cancelled my second reservation with this hotel).

Comfortable hotel close to the beach

The hotel is a little ways out of town, next to the beach (although behind a block of apartments, so you may not be guaranteed a sea view). The town centre isn't desperately close (20-30 minutes depending on your walking speed), but the somewhat limited range of menu options means that you might have to explore other options for dinner if you're staying for a couple of days or more. The rooms are comfortable, if unexceptional, although hotel staff have a somewhat irritating tendency to ignore 'Do Not Disturb' signs, so bear that in mind as well.

One night stop over

Very busy hotel slow to replenish food at breakfast. Close to beach are which was not as tidy as we expectected. Loved the town which is a 30minute walk away.

Review of Hotel Diego de Almagro La Serena

The Wi-Fi did not work in our room. We were told that someone would try to fix it, but they never did. The service was poor there too.

Lovely stay overall

It was great overall, however it would have been nice been told there was a huge concert happening that night so it would have saved us 20mins of trying to get through to the parking! Thanks to the glancing we didn’t hear a thing

Family hotel by the beach

Good hotel, friendly staff, AC in the room is loud and a bit underpowered. Also this is really a family hotel i.e lots of screaming children around... location is very good.

Good breakfast, friendly staff. Hotel is also has restaurants conveniently located across the street and just down the block. Would stay again.

Brand new and clean hotel with business atmosphere

This hotel is less than a year old. It is clean almost sterile and modern. The breakfast is good. It is steps from the lighthouse and beach. For a great lunch and dinner option go to El Amir across the street on the beach- great food for half the price and it is clean and the owners are friendly. You can go for a nice walk along the beach or in the direction of town to el centro from this hotel with no problem. But if walking a mile is not your thing, a cab to el centro (which is great), will cost about -1500 pesos- about 2 bucks! As a side note, Chileans do not automatically bring your check at the end of a meal like in the US - they are not trying to turn-over tables. You relax and eat and ask for the bill(la cuenta) when you are ready to leave.

Menos de lo que esperaba

Hotel ha decaído mucho en calidad desde la ultima vez que alojamos en él. Paredes de la habitación sucias/manchadas, desayuno básico.

Terrible experiencia

Solicite cama matrimonial y tenia dos camas chicas, solicite vista al mar y tenia vista a la ciudad, el extractor del baño solo funcionaba en ciertos horarios ( Impresentable ) el aire acondicionado no funcionaba, al segundo día nos cambian a otra habitación y estaba hedionda a cigarro, es mas, ni siquiera la mucama soporto el olor. nos volvieron a cambiar de habitación.

La razón principal de regresar casi siempre al DdA es su personal, Jordán, Alexander, Daniela, Dayan, la señora dama de llaves del hotel, que siempre me brindan las mejores de las atenciones.

El lugar es bien lindo, pero a mí habitación le faltaba una buena mantencion, había muchas grietas, manchas en paredes, control remoto malo. El aseo también es deficiente!

La habitación estaba bien, el baño quizás no era tan cómodo. La asistente fue bastante amable. El desayuno no fue lo que esperaba, los dulces muy de bajo nivel.

La ubicación es más que excelente, a menos de una cuadra del faro y de la Costanera. Alrededor hay varios lugares de comida. La atención fue excelente en todo momento. El desayuno es bastante variado y la carta del restaurant igual es muy buena. La habitación estaba limpia, aunque el baño necesita un poco de renovación. Definitivamente es un lugar para regresar

En general fue buena. Desayuno incluido muy bueno; solo una persona atendiendo, por lo cual la limpieza de mesas es lenta y en muchos momentos no hay disponibles. Estacionamiento incluido en la tarifa, en el mismo hotel. Habitaciones cómodas, aunque la limpieza no es muy profesional.

la estadía tuvo puntos no buenos: 1.- El aseo al llegar mal 2.- La caja de seguridad NO funcionaba 3.- La cuenta no cuadró con lo que Hoteles.com me cotizó. Espero me respondan por la diferencia de dinero.

En general la experiencia fue buena, sólo un par de detalles, por ejemplo en la ducha estaba el desagüe tapado, hay muy pocos canales de cable no hay mucho que ver. El personal muy atento, la habitación iluminada y con una cama grande y cómoda.

Falta empatia

Debería haber más flexibilidad en las reservas. Mi acompañante iba de Santiago, le suspendieron vuelo y no fue su responsabilidad y debió reagendar para día siguiente. Debí pagar x dos. Negociar con los hoteles.

Mini vacaciones

Todo muy bien,2 puntos críticos fue la ducha el agua sale tibia/fría aunque esperamos unos minutos que calentará según recomendación de recepcionista. Lo otro el aseo yo corrí la cama y estaba muy sucio hasta un juguete de bebé de algún pasajero anterior.

Ubicacion. Pieza grande

Entiendo qué hay una persona en la recepción. Pero estuve esperando para hacer el check in como 25 minutos. Ni siquiera la recepcionista levantó la cabeza para decir “enseguida los atiendo” también una total indiferencia, nada de indicaciones e información. La verdad deberían entrenar su personal para que sea mucho más amable. Lo primero es sacarle esa silla…y que atiendan de pie, con energía y con apariencia fresca, no con cara de lata y cansancio. El Colchón de la habitación desnivélalo, la Ropa de cama muy poca. Saque la frazada del closet porque estaba helado. Rescato que nos dieron un café a las 3 de la mañana cuando nos fuimos. Hay muchos hoteles pero lo que hace la diferencia es cómo te traten. Eso es lo que hace que la gente vuelva.

Pesimas habitaciones

Duchas malas, tapadas camas dinde te acuesta en una orilla y despierras en el medio porque estan hubdidas, nos cambiaron de habitaciin y lo mismo en la ducha. Mal el aseo, las camas mal echas. Elmrestaurante excelente.

Higiene de habitación, terrible. Me cambiaron de habitación y nunca logré destaparán el lavamanos. No puede ser que nadie revise los servicios básicos antes de recibir un pasajero.

Los pasillos de los pisos con restos de comida y consumo de servicios en la habitacion . el desayuno un desorden y la zona de cafe con liquido en los mesones.

Mejora en tiempo de recepción

Creo que para estar en condiciones de pandemia, deberían mejorar la atención en recepción en cantidad de personal, ya que para los check in y check out, existían filas de mas de 15 personas en el lobby y un solo recepcionista, lo cual genera una aglomeración y lentitud, que no debiese existir.
