The staff was very polite and welcoming and made the transition smooth and easy. The prices were good and the location is close to a lot of entertainment, food, and shopping. Good experience over all
Great Budget Option - Easy Airport Trip
1.5 Stars is incorrect about Hotel Diamond. It deserves 2 Stars. It is easy (but not fast) to access from KIX, steps away from the Osaka subway system, and in an area with grocery and convenience stores within 5 min walk. For a budget option, 2 Stars; well deserved.
You get what you pay for.
Cheap and very basic. Hotel and bedding not clean. In a bit of a dodgy area, but close to train stations.
Private room at a low price
Extremely basic accommodations. Smelly toilet. But an extremely good price for a private room.
toilet very dirty
This is my second visit at Hitel Daimond
I was here two nights before move to another hotel as there was no room type available. When I return the next day. I supposed to come depositing my luggage before start my day. I have as for the same room, but was not available. The man at reception has given me the room on the same floor and allow me to check in. Wasn’t it a nice gesture to give to a returning guest. I will definitely stay at Hotel Diamond again when I visit Osaka.
Good budget hotel
What should you expect for what you pay as long as it is clean, safe and near one of the main train station
Only for the most budget conscience
I got the hotel as part of the bundle through Expedia, but did not stay overnight since I was staying with my GF's family. However, I did check-in into the Hotel and looked at the room. The room is very small and is barely bigger than the size of the futon/bed. However, if all you're looking for is a place to sleep, I guess this might be ok. Weird quirks of the hotel include the light switch for the room being outside in the hallway, so if you want to turn on or off the light, you need to step outside and reach around the door. However, please note that Shin-Imamiya, where the hotel is located, is a poor, rougher area of Osaka. As long as you're near the station, its probably safe, but my GF and her family told me to be careful of my surroundings. I'm pretty sure that a lot of people staying there are actually living there, as it is roughly $8 a night. The vending machines near the hotel also extremely discounted (50 yen for a normally 150 yen drink), presumably to help the blue collar workers living there. That being said, the hotel staff was very friendly and they had a cute dog in their office.
This hotel is near the exit of MTR.
This hotel is easier to find even my first visit. the out look is old but those facilities are good enough such as the bathing room and toilets are good. The lobby has free wifi provided may let us have a good place for stay. Receptionist are kindly as our family member. The hotel is my first choice for next visit.
If you need a bed and nothing else
This place is super cheap but you should stay if only you need a bed and nothing else. The room's size same with the bed's size. There was mosquitoes or bed buds (not sure) in the room. When I woke up in the morning, all my body is itching. The stuff does not speak english at all.
Easy sleeping place
Walk through cigarette smoke filled lobby, easy 1000yen deposit for key (which was paid back when we gave the key back, they didn't even check the room cleanliness) Tiny room. Filled two single futon and two suitcases and that's it (but also had a fridge) but comfy futon on tatami. With a window. Wifi only in cigarette filled lobby, but works well enough to be quick. Bath is onsen style, but not that nice. I'm glad I was the only one in there.
good but old
happy helpful staff
location is good near osaka zoo station, good customer service and helpful...just a old building with 7 floor with saperate single room..anyway nice stay while traveling in osaka, just get what you paid for the room.
Loved this little room. I will do it again.
The room was very small. Big enough for the bed(futon) only. It was spacious after sleeping in capsule hotels for a few days. The owners/managers were helpful and kind.
The room not so big, some of the restroom cannot be used.
accessible to transportation
Need more improvements on structure and signage for easy location.
dirty and not well maintained room. shower on 1st floor only.
Cheap but good place
Nice place. Good place to meet other travelers. Its cheap so dont expect too much. Staff is friendly and helpful. you definetly get your bang for the buck here. Free bicycle rental, full kitchen, cheap stores near by.
Air-con room with no Air-con
I had an "air con room" with no aircon. There is no aircon . cooled air through ventilation unit, So you can not control the temperature. And ventilation was turned off every day around 11 am so came hot and need to open a window to change air. Plus No towels included the price , some other places at same region have towels. slippers included but japanese size so can not use if your feet is size 44
Super small dirty cramped place
It is surprising how this place is called a hotel. The rooms are as big as a small bed and not clean at all. The floor and especially the corners were full of dust and other stuff. The toilets were kinda ok. The worst part were the baths. There were 2 seperated showers for the women (for ALL 7 floors!) and only one bathroom with 3 showers for men (also for ALL 7 floors!) Next to the missing cleanliness it was super loud. Dogs belling all night. Weird people coughing all the night long. Definitely cannot recommend.
You get what you pay.
This place is very cheap to stay. You have to share the toilet and bathroom. And you can only take the shower until 11:30PM in the night. The place is old but the toilet, shower and the room is clean. To be honest the room is pretty small but if you are the type of tourist who will be out all day and just go to hotel to sleep it's ok. You will hear people talking and stuff so if you do get bother about noise and stuff I recommend you to take some ear plug. The stuffs are very helpful and nice, I mean for the price you pay for you don't expect luxury. And if you are looking for budget option, the price is good enough to cover everything you need. Also they will rent a bicycle to the all the guest so you can really save a lot of money to stay this place. Only things that I would ask to people to improve is to have the internet in the room too. The internet only work in the receptions and lounge.
Ultra Budget backpackers. Can't beat the the price
Budget backpackers looking for a place to rest our head. At $20 a night you can't beat the price. The bad: Room was mildly clean, hotel was mildy dirty, bedding was dirty, no wifi in rooms, weird shower situation, pit toilets. The good: kind staff, warm, wifi in lobby, free bikes, good location, the price. On a budget, I would stay again.
First time and last time
just cheap, first time n last time
hobo hotel
its a room if your broke and have no where else to go. its in one of the poorest areas in Japan. pretty run down building. you get a tiny room without heat. both the building and neighbourhood are run down but its near the subway.
save the money pay the price
can not beat the price but it comes with a price, prison cell like room, no air-con, noisy neighborhood. very close to sub way station (50 meters)
The price is right
Convenient location - less than 100 meters away from subway Dobutsuen-Mae Station on Midosuji line that goes to Osaka/Itami Airport (with a train change at the end of the line at Senri-chuo Station to Osaka Rail train). This stop is also only 2 stations away from Namba/Dotonburi shopping area and 3 safe/walkable "American blocks" away from Spa World. The room is what you paid for - $7 USD/night will get you a private 4ft x 10ft room, with a public/community shower and bathroom. A private/safe place to sleep and store luggage during the day while sightseeing - hot shower facility - free wifi internet access - all for $7 USD/day. I'll definitely stay again, especially with Spa World so close by that you can pay 1,200yen entrance fee to relax after a day of walking/sightseeing.
the cheapest hotel
Was so cheap hotel. That means this hotel help me to save my money to sightsee around Osaka. I can't say this is a typical hotel like you know, while I can recommend those who just want to sleep night. It was a bit hot in Summer though.
You get what you pay for
Stayed in one of the rooms at the new complex, it wasn't too bad for a quick night's sleep. Rooms were moderately clean, mattresses and blankets could've been cleaner. The entrance felt intimidating at first due to it's old and dirty decor. Location was decent, accessible easily via JR West and the local subway system. Best thing about this hotel: the price. Can't really find anything cheaper than this. Worst thing: the showers. Showers were better for females, as they had individual shower rooms. Males, however, had to share a Japanese-style public bath; for foreigners, this might feel a little uncomfortable as you'll be showering with a couple other people. Naked. Definitely takes getting used to. One more thing: our room was fitted with an air conditioner - however it was centrally controlled, and it can get VERY cold. Almost got sick because of this. Booked this hotel for the first 2 days and the last 2 days of our trip. Since the booking was so cheap, we decided not to come back for our later booking stayed elsewhere instead. Conclusion: You get what you pay for. Won't stay here again, but it honestly could've been worse. Pay more and stay elsewhere if you can.
You pay for what you get.
Not so much a capsule as a tiny room. The place needs an upgrade to say the least and you won't find any luxury here. However, the price is incredible and if you're only in Osaka for a night or two and only need to stay at a place to sleep, this is one of cheapest you'll find in a reasonably easy to get to location.
So impressed about the service of non English spea
I loved the serviced especcialy the Oba Chan who welcomed me so well, the hotels are in the same condition of its price. The location is pretty good for me because it is very close to JR Shinimamiya which i took it to osaka station then connect to Kyoto.
Well, for me, I would never come back there again. The hotel is very inconvenient. The owner is helpless, everywhere around the hotel is so dirty. Unless its a cheap price. Sorry, it was my nightmare ever.
Incredibly cheap, close to Namba station
In regard to the facilities and certain creature comforts, Hotel Diamond clearly lacks. But at around ¥1000 Yen a night, it's pretty unbeatable value. The staff and semi-permanent residents are helpful and always around to answer questions. A free bike service lets you explore the area in greater detail. Hotel Diamond is literally a couple of doors down from Dobutsuen-Mae subway station. It's a one minute walk from your room to a train that can take you to Namba station, connecting to the airport and other major hubs in Osaka. To conclude, what Hotel Diamond lacks in bells and whistles, it makes up for in value for money, good service, and great location.
Worth your money!
Exellent location, friendly staffs, clean toilet but limited space of bath and wifi access. Also its building is very old.
Good Location, Poor Hotel Overall
The hotel had very shoddy internet access, and there was no air conditioner in the room. The building was very old and seemingly quite unkempt. Because I was alone, my room got changed from a double to a single but I have yet to be reimbursed for the cost difference.
Very Cheap Place to Stay
If you're a budget traveler and just need a room to stay in, this is the place. The room is very small. After laying out the futon, there's only enough space for your bags and to stand in. If you have a really big suitcase, you can use that as your chair but it will block your "walking" space. Hotel interior looks a bit rundown but otherwise it's not shabby for the price you're paying. They provide microwave and hot water pots for your instant noodle or whatever food that needs reheating. The four nights I stayed, the lobby was the place to gather and meet people who were staying in the hotel. Not exactly walking distance to Shinsaibashi. Takes about 45 mins to walk there. Which is equivalent to walking from Union Square to Chinatown if you're from NYC. Perfect hotel for just a room and futon.
A sketchy dive
Took one look and checked straight out. Drains stink, questionable security, most guests appear to live there. Wifi in front lobby only. If you enjoy stained squat toilets, wafer-thin futons and flies everywhere, then this is the hotel for you!
Small hotel with small rooms
I didn't really like staying here given that the room we got was barely enough to fit two futon and some space for the TV stand. Not too much space for luggage. The toilets for men and women were in the same room but separate cubicles. The shower rooms were in the ground floor, separate for men and women. But you have to bring your own toiletries as the shower rooms don't have soap and shampoo nor towels. The old man at the front desk didn't speak any English and got me to sort through a pile of online bookings for our reservation.
Very enjoy for whole trip
With this price overall is consider good the staff very helpful convenient nearby tourist attractions
The hotel seemed in poor
This hotel might be the cheapest, but you would be treated as cheap as well. Please add a couple dollars, or you would experience as if a homeless shelter.
You got what you paid for
Very old but the cleanliness is ok. I stay here for 5 nights. There's warm water in bathtub only 1 night :( If you want better room you have to choose aircondition room( annex building ). Very good location.
Don't expect much for the price.
Cheap hotel so very basic condition. Quite run down. Neighborhood shelters a quite large homeless population. WIFI is only available in first floor lobby.
Good for price
My girlfriend and I stayed one night at Diamond. It is bare bones, but has all the basics. The room was mostly clean, futons comfortable, and bathroom clean. Shower was quite far away from the room. Wifi in lobby worked well. Metro stop was about a block away. Some decent little shops, restaurants, and grocery stores nearby. Staff was friendly. At the price, we were very happy.
good
the hotel is clean even though it looks old. Its near so many tourist spots. Theres a subway station entrance a few feet away. The people that work there are very nice and helpful.
You get what you pay for.
This hotel is really cheap and in a great location. One member of staff speaks basic English. I stayed in an air conditioned room that had seen better days. Unfortunately the wifi didn't reach the room and the showers and bathroom were an elevator ride away. Bring your own towel because the ones they rent to you are too small to dry anything other than a small plate. The main problem though was the bed. A futon on a tatami mat is fine. A futon on a wooden floor is as uncomfortable as just sleeping on the floor itself. But it does seem to be about half the price as anywhere else.
The whole place is pretty rundown and not very clean. Rooms are small and thin futon mattresses on hardwood floors extremely uncomfortable. Wifi only available in the tiny lobby, only intermittently in the adjacent lounge. Area is rundown but safe enough. Hotel's really close to a metro stop on the red line. The best thing about the place is the staff, who were extremely helpful, but even at the extremely low price, I wouldn't stay here again.
Extremely cheap, lots of downsides, great staff
You cannot expect much for the rate but I was still broadly underwhelmed. Rooms are tiny with no bed, only an extremely thin futon mattress that left me with tender spots on my hips after a couple of nights. Room and bedding had only been cleaned cursorily. Wifi is terrible and barely reaches the lounge so you have to hover in the tiny lobby to use it. Toilets incredibly cramped, and no hand dryer or paper towels are provided. Communal areas mostly rundown and only moderately clean. Location is great, just metres from the subway: take the midosuji (red) line to dobutsenmae, go to exit 8 (left end of station as you exit the train), turn left as you leave exit 8. It's about 50 metres down on the left and has a long pink neon sign with a white diamond. Yes, there are lots of drunk old people around the area but this is Japan: even roaming the local alleyways for photography at midnight felt perfectly safe. It's near the rundown old shinsekai amusement precinct so there are plenty of cheap eats nearby, and Dotombori is only 2 metro stops away. There's a small supermarket 100m away, look for the massive yellow sign atop it. Final note: staff could not have been more friendly and helpful and speak a fair level of English. If only the mattresses were thicker this place would be an absolute steal.
Great location, near to shopping
The female bathroom, although common, is clean! The toilet is also clean. Walking distance to Den Den town by 10-15mins. This is really worth the money!
Close to shopping at extremely cheap price!
Its more than worth it! Front desk lady can speak English. Walls are thin that you can hear the others rooms guest. Nothing to complain. Recommended for those who are on budget and want close to shopping.
Serious cheapys only
There is NO Wifi in the rooms. Just in the foyer. It's cheap and nasty. Only if your broke.

diamond forever osaka
Everything was dirty, there wasn't even hand soap in the toilets! The place looks old and the staff was rude. The mattress was stained. I always say that cheap shouldn't mean dirty
Excelente ubicación. A 2 cuadras de la estación JR
You get what you are paying for. But it has everything you need. My only issue is that there was creepy men sitting at women only shower doors, i didnt feel comfortable showering. Men have a massive area for showering and bathing, women have a 2x2m (for 2 women) area for showering only. If im paying the same as men, id assume i got access to the same quality of facilities as them, or i should not have to pay as much!
