Very nice and would definitely stop there again.
Great location, the rooms were very comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful.
Cutest hotel that is located within walking distance of plenty of things to see and do!
Great property for a weekend exploring Amsterdam. Easy walk to everywhere and the hotel was beautiful and staff were very helpful. Special thanks to Lisa who made us feel very welcome and gave us some great ideas for places to go. Will definitely stay again!
Nice hotel, friendly staff in a great location with most attractions easily walkable. It is an old building so stairs are narrow and steep, ok for us as it added to the character but anyone not so steady on their feet needs to request a room on lower floors
Excellent location
It was great two days at the Hotel. Room was small but had everything that was needed. Clean attached Toilet waste really great. What's most amazing about the property was it's location - very close to the Rokin Metro and Tram station. Everything was either at walking or Tram distance.
Loved my stay here! Highly recommend and can’t wait to stay again!
This hotel is perfectly located. It is in an historic building which is so beautifully decorated. The staff were so friendly. The breakfast was incredible and they had gluten free options. I would highly recommend in this hotel.
Breakfast room felt too small for the number of guests. Location was great and the room was super.
super friendly staff nice view of the canal convenient access to everything. the building is old which is expected. But the rooms are not clean. The shower water was not really working. I think it's really easy to tell if an old facility has been taken care of, which is not the case here.
Beautiful property in central Amsterdam
Good room, big bed, good service. The room has no AC tho
Great Location! Fantastic Stay
We loved everything about Hotel Des Artes. Fantastic location, lovely staff, nice included breakfast, comfortable beds. We would definitely recommend and stay here again!
We loved our stay here. My husband and I had one room, and our three teenagers shares a second room. The staff are available 24 hours and are always pleasant. There's a small public sitting area where we were able to purchase wine and beer and snacks at any time of the day/night. The hotel is charming, the breakfast was fine, and we could walk anywhere in Amsterdam. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Nice spot on a key street in the city, close to the Red Light District and University area. We thought we were getting larger rooms but ended up in a small triple room (may have been our booking issue) but wouldn't book again based on that experience. The staff were lovely and helpful and there were beautifully artistic spots in the hotel.
Great hotel close to everything in Amsterdam. We received an upgrade to the family suite for no charge. Staff at the front desk are amazing and very helpful. You do have to carry your luggage up the stairs but that is well worth it for this unique hotel. Would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful Boutique Hotel in 1700’s Building
Wonderful stay. There are no elevators so you will have to carry your luggage up BUT the canal view is amazing! The hotel has kept its buildings historic charm. Breakfast was included. The hotel went out of their way to secure us a Dr appt for my son. Everyday everyone greeted us and were super friendly and informative of the city and what to do here. We will def stay here again.the Hotel has a coffe/drink bar to make purchases and a huge selection of souvenirs and gifts for purchase. The pics of the rooms are accurate! This place is perfection!!
The interior design has a lot of charm, but that’s where it ends. This hotel is not accessible, I have a really bad back and got no help in bringing up my luggage up four flights of steep and narrow stairs. During checkout, absolutely no help even though I was physically struggling with two suitcases. I don’t think I saw anyone working here smile once. The rooms do not have AC, and while it’s cool during most of the year, if you stay in a room on a higher floor it gets warm. I opened a window, but then flies from the trash out on the street fly in. The area is trashy, but convenient to nightlife, shopping, and nice cafes—equivalent to staying in any tourist trap. The rooms do not have enough outlets, so I had to unplug lights in order to charge anything…this could be solved by adding extension cords or adapters. The toilet seat was broken and the maid just took €5 euros I left on the desk, assuming it was a tip I suppose. If you’re backpacking through, I would recommend this hotel; otherwise, I can’t recommend for longer stays.
Friendly staff, nice breakfast, boutique rooms, location was excellent.
A beautiful space! Narrow hallways but worth it.
Quite lovely rooms and cafe area. Very friendly staff and delightful breakfast.
The staff is very friendly and kind. The breakfast is just lovely… so many little details they have thought of it all. Perfect welcoming room with food and beverage if needed. Room was perfectly clean and quite darling in decor. We had a beautiful view with double windows to help with the street sound. Loved our stay, will return.
Steps were not easy especially with luggage. Bathroom smelled and floor was wet from shower. Double-wide sink meant very little counter space.
Great location. Walkable to everything. Central station is 10 min easy, strait walk. So close to everything. Red light district 5 min, Anne Frank house 18, Heineken factory 12, museums & restaurants galore. All within walking. We took a taxi from the airport €82. The train and 1 subway stop is what we took leaving instead. Lisa at reception was very helpful with recommendations. Our room was facing the front of the hotel with canal view. Noise wasn’t bad overnight. We had the green room that sleeps 3 people. No A/C, so it does get warm in there. They do have a Dyson that provides some cool air, but it’s not enough for a room that size. Maybe if they had a 2nd unit it would be better. We travelled in May. I would want to be in that room in July when it’s really hot out. No elevator, so you must haul your luggage on a few flights of stairs. I would stay here again, but not in the summer.
My Favorite, Hotel, ! It’s a jewel diamond 1700 you go back on time amazing structure and history monument You can’t miss that It’s been privileged for me to be there thank you all
Nice place to stay. Found the decor in the room rather engaging as a solo traveller.
Unique and staff is friendly. Would definitely come back here again
It was just what I required for a short stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the lounge with all its arts and crafts on show added to make it a more comfortable and interesting area.
Good value hotel in excellent location; friendly helpful staff
Perfect location and walkable. Rooms were small, but very comfortable and clean. We had canal view room which was lovely. Cafe/shop downstairs was charming. Very steep stairs and no elevator, but thats quite common.
Staff was approachable & Helpful too..

charming but not a very nice breakfast
I loved the room and it was great value for money. The breakfast buffet was poor and grouchy service in a windowless room - so skip it. But the hotel is charming and in a good location to get to central station easily and everywhere else.
Very nice small hotel, great location and nice big rooms
Great hotel for the price, a little bit further out from the centre than would have liked but that is just personal preference. If you’re after a quiet hotel with great staff for then this is the place for you
Good location and everywhere is pretty walkable. About a 13 minute walk with my suitcase to the main train station but there is a metro station only about a block from the hotel.
Great location! Amazing staff.
Very nice hotel, the breakfast was fantastic
We were assigned the attic room which was hard to get to with our luggage. Once we did manage to get to our room we noticed that one light by the door was not working and the one of the 2 lights in the bathroom was not working as well. The toilet seat did not have a cover and the there were a lot of mosquitoes in the room. The one light fixture on top of the ceiling had a lot of dead bugs/mosquitoes in them. The staff in the hotel was friendly and nice and the location is good - however the hotel room was poor.
Bring earplugs
Hotel des Arts is such a lovely little hotel in a great part of the city. The hotelnis beautifully decorated, as are the rooms. The staff were friendly, helpful and accomodating. The buffet breakfast was very nice. My only negative is that it is an old building with no soundproofing. If you have early mornings or need a good nights sleep, bring earplugs - especially on the main level.
Lovely hotel. Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast. I highly recommend it.
A charming boutique hotel with gracious staff in an historic building in the Rokin. Close to everything. No elevator, so pack light and enjoy the work out!
The place is right in the center of the city. Very convinient for sighseeing. The room is simple, clean, cute designs, has nessasary things. I bought breakfast and has everything you need (selection of tea, coffee, scrambled eggs, fruts, cereal, milk, bread) so definitely worth it because prices in Amsterdam are no joke.
Perfect hotel
We loved this hotel. It was in the perfect location. Central, but not in a noisy area. Overlooked a canal. The hotel had character. It was in a gorgeous typically Amsterdam building. Everyone was very friendly. Our quad room was perfect for a family of four and our kids are teenagers! Everyone was very friendly and so helpful. The breakfast was perfect. Thank you. If we come back to Amsterdam we will most definitely stay at Hotel des Arts and we will be recommending it to family and friends.
The hotel is in an excellent situation, close to the beautiful flower market and an easy walk to the museum square in one direction and the Centraal station. The manager was exceptionally helpful and friendly, she was able to direct us to the local sites and museums always with a smile. The breakfast was a wide selection of food, again the staff running the breakfast room were lovely. The room was beautifully decorated and comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel.
Clean place, great staff, courteous, accommodating, pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.
We stayed in the Family Suite with canal view. It was perfect for family of 5, everyone had their own space and bed. Bathroom was a little small, but very nice. Street noise was a little loud at night with windows open, but once you shut them it was quiet. Breakfast was very nice as well.
The check in process could have been more organised and welcoming?
Great hotel in a perfect location!
Really nice property. Convenient, close to all important sites. Staff is friendly and always willing to help.
The staff was welcoming and engaging. The included breakfast was great. The location was perfect for shopping, eating and catching the train.
Ok
Lovely little hotel right in the heart of Amsterdam Central. Everything within a 10 minute walk in every direction. The staff were all very friendly and polite. Nice little breakfast selection to start the day
Great location and comfortable room. Breakfast was unimpressive, however, the croissant were delicious! Would happily stay here again.
The staff are incredible! Very friendly and helpful. The place was cozy and nice. The breakfast was really good. The location can’t be beat. Highly recommended!
Hotel Des Arts
Very well located in the centre of Amsterdam the Hotel des Arts is in a typical Amsterdam building. But inside is in need of some TLC and the inside does not live up to the character of the outside. Room was very clean and bed was comfy. Breakfast was tasty continental breakfast
Very good and hard.
Everything was good, very friendly staff, great location, etc. The only negative issue was that I had to walk up 4 floors with a heavy suitcase, because there's no elevator. That was REALLY hard.
The staff were all incredible. So friendly and helpful, they even printed some documents for me. The breakfast was delicious and had so many items and we really like how they are supporting local farmers. They baked the croissant and pain au chocolat fresh right on site each morning
Uber could not stop at hotel OR pick us up. Front desk was too busy to help us get a taxi or uber after we checked out, and staff were unhelpful at checkout. We were put up in highest room (number 41) two times on our family reservation, which was super far away and up many steep stairs and was also very, very hot! Front desk staff was dismissive. Access to hotel is on busy one way street, so no stopping with uber; felt stranded! So disappointed!
Great location, very kind and helpful staff and good value for money. Can improve in cleanness like replace used cups in room and clean better in dinning room. Recommend this hotel.
Very Nice stay for a night in Amsterdam.
Our stay was fine. Staff was wonderful and helpful. The room was large and comfortable.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to Dam Square. Breakfast was good. Rooms were dated and dingy
Good stay
Reasonably spacious room, comfy bed, very good breakfast, and at a good price. I enjoyed my stay.
Flight was cancelled by due to COVID and they refused to reschedule or refund.
Helpful staff who assisted with my baggage to the 4th floor. No lifts in this hotel.
The hotel is very well located, close to everything. Sweet breakfast room, great staff who are very attentive and helpful. Lots of very hot water and good pressure in the bath. Guests should be aware that there are lots of steep steps. Be prepared.
Charming place to stay
The hotel was perfect for my family. There was no elevator and we were on the 3rd floor so carrying luggage up was challanging. The staff was wonderful and accommodating and the breakfast was awesome. The location for us was perfect and even with the lack of elevator we would stay here again. It was a charming environment and exactly as described on the website.
Needs Window Screens
Great location, good price. Unfortunately, my room was quite hot and it did not offer air conditioning, so I kept windows open. There were no screens, so basically I was eaten by mosquitos the entire stay.
Old and dingy. No elevator????? Bag storage is downstairs WITH NO ELEVATOR. have to the 25kg bags up and down flights of stairs. At least hire someone to help. The cleaners don't do anything but make the bed and change towels. Room didn't even come with soap.. the American/ Canadian receptionist is very rude and Amelia thinks she's a detective for soda bottles. There was an open soda left in our mini bar from previous people who stayed in the room and she kept blaming us trying to charge us for it, trying to interrogate and screen us to see if it's ours after we told her multiple times we didn't even open the mini bar to the extent that our bags were in front of it so we totally forgot we even had one. After not even believing us she proceeded to get a co worker to inspect the mini bar because she was adamant that it was our bottle. Very rude and very unprofessional. Honestly, do not stay here. Even if you dont have a run in like that one, it'sa really ugly and not worth it hotel.
Nice rooms too busy at breakfast good location very friendly staff
well worth the money paid for our 2 night stay, right in the middle of centraal, breakfast included and the staff are more than friendly and also assisted in explaining where was good to eat and sites that were a must etc. the room was clean and the bathroom was spotless, you're probably thinking this should be standard but if you've traveled enough you know it isn't! To summarize.. this is where i will be staying when i visit Amsterdam again in the new year
Lovely stay
Friendly and helpful staff. Loads of suggestions for where to eat, visit, canal boat trip, . Very central location. Didn't need to use public transport once.
Solo traveller UK
Given room right next to reception and was disturbed till very late and very early in the morning by noise, the loudest voice being the receptionist himself! No thought for guests trying to sleep. Otherwise all was ok, rest of staff were pleasant, room was ok, but nothing special, breakfast was fairly good, though not a great deal of choice.
Hotal was ok, some of staff where somewhat friendly but kind of "cold" overall the stay was decent. The only thing that really was annoying was that there was no elevator, and i was placed in the attic room.(room 41) It was hard to get my luggage up to the very narrow sets of stairs leading to the 4th floor.
Fantastic location, right next to the canal. Stayed just a night and had a decent breakfast next day before leaving. It's 3 floors, and you got to climb up. No lifts and a bit of navigating around too.
Perfect hotel service from staff, luggage store was very helpful ,toilets in lobby are very unique overall stay very welcoming and accommodating Thanks x
Very soft beds , hard stairs
Great location, breakfast, friendly staff. If you have heavy luggage steep and narrow stairs hard to climb.
Good location, bad hotel
The hotel is very old. Shower didn't drain. There was standing water in the bath tub while taking shower. The staircase is narrow and steep. Don't go there if you have heavy luggage or have difficulty walking up the staircase. Room window opens up to interior courtyard. Expect noise. Windows don't have any fly screens. Expect mesquite bites
Location, location, location
The location is excellent. The facility is lacking in many other respects. First, the building is old and lacks an elevator. The stairway is very narrow and curved, and there is no bellboy or porter to help carry the suitcases up to the room. Second, once reaching the room, other than the closet, there is no dresser or armoire to put clothes away. In the bathroom, as well, there is no counter or vanity on which to lay out toiletries, and Hotel des Arts does not provide any shampoo, conditioner, or even washcloths. There is a built-in dispenser filled with liquid soap. However, the staff is very nice (particularly Lisa), and the breakfast is very nice,
A great, budget friendly break from the hostels.
Everything was awesome..the staff was super friendly, the location is optimal, and the free breakfast was superb.
Excellent small hotel in the city center. Nice staff and good breakfast.
The staff are friendly and very helpful. The property is a bit dated and could use a few touch-ups that shouldn't cost the owner that much. My shower kept clogging with water backing up each time. I felt like my feet were unclean the entire time I was there. I did report the problem but apparently, they couldn't fix it. The wifi was good. The biggest perk is the complimentary breakfast. This perk helped to cut down on my food budget.
The breakfast was great! Staff were friendly and helpful! Location was perfect. Only problem was the lack of air conditioners. But, I would still stay there again
Awesome stay
Amazing hotel in Amsterdam center. Great location, fantastic breakfast. The room is clean and quiet. The only cons is no lift, but it is acceptable if you do not have too much luggage
Great location for old city. Please note, no elevator as this is a 16 th century building. Clean, updated by new owner. Unfortunately we got stuck with no hot water for 24 hours and door changing.management did help with partial cash refund. Staff is quite lovely.
Good location for any activity. No lift, steep stairs and having a room on the third floor.
My room had a mosquito. You definitely should not take room 2 which is on the first floor and meant everyone who came in through the night woke you up. The breakfast was good.
Great Amsterdam
Was really good. Even offered us early breakfast the morning we had early leave for train.
Fantastic location and exceptionally clean! The lobby and common areas are smart, the single room is a little dated, although very comfortable and spotless. The staff are lovely. The single room is on the ground level by the lobby, so pretty noisy! Not a problem as long as you have earplugs. I would definitely stay again mainly for the fantastic location.
The staff of the hotel was incredibly nice. However no one informed us before our stay that the hotel was under construction, and when checking in we had to walk through a construction zone with all of our luggage. The hotel is dead center in Amsterdam if that is what your looking for. However if you have heavy luggage or have an injury or are elderly there is NO elevator in the hotel. We had to carry all of our luggage up 4 flights of very narrow, spiraled steps. In top of that, when we were checking in the maid was cleaning rooms and just throwing laundry bags on the stairs, which blocked our entire path up the stairs. The room was fine. At first the sheet looked as if it had bed bugs but it was just lint from the top cover. The bathroom walls had mold on them, and the whole carpet looked like it had seen better days. All in all, while the staff was great, i will 100% not be coming back here any time soon.
The property is downtown and within walking distance of Central Station. The hotel offers breakfast. There are no lifts and no refrigerator or microwave in room.
Right in the center of everything. Everything is within walking distance.
Top floor AWESOMENESS
The stay was pleasant and my wife and I were in the rooms at the top of the hotel...which was a journey. But, the room was clean, a major plus, location was bomb, and the staff was nice.
WeHad a very nice room it was large enough for two good breakfast staff was excellent overall experience great clean oh very clean
Clean and Great location
The hotel is in a great location, 15 minute walk from the train station. Very centrally located. It is no more than 30 minute walk from any site you would want to visit, even farther sites like the FoodHallen, or the brewery in the windmill. Everything else you'd want to see is withint 10-15 minute walk. The hotel service was great, free breakfast was good, nothing special but good enough. Room was clean. The interior is a bit outdated but comfortable, the staff let us know they are renovating soon as the management changed last month. Wifi was free. Best part: location and service, and value Needs improvement: updating the rooms
The location was great but unfortunately we were given the upstairs attic room which totaled 62 stairs to climb up or down everytime we left. This became very tiresome after a long day of walking around the city.

This hotel is a hidden gem and such a stunning, quirky and inviting property; Lisa at Reception was amazing and so friendly and was definitely the icing on the cake! The room I stayed in was large, light/bright, spacious and extremely comfortable. This is definitely my "go to" property when I visit Amsterdam 10/10
