It is an old hotel near a very busy train station. Not a comfortable stay, but great for convenience
Na
Overall ok. Elevator is from the last century tho
Nice
Real close to train terminal
Mi estadia fue muy buena , el eecepcionista jonh franco muy helpfull nice thanks
No ac
Very nice room, clean and very near Rome termini. Incredible location, near several restaurants.
When i arrived there were 2 girls from 2 seperate rooms who had their luggage stolen. The police were there and they said that they havent taken the money for my room yet and didnt have to stay. The police also told me not to stay. They're not only now lying im fighting to get my refund back. DO NOT STAY HERE. THEY'RE SCAMMERS AND ITA UNSAFE and i would NEVER recommend this to anyone
Only stayed one night. Pretty tiny room and shared bathroom with lots of other rooms which we weren’t aware of. Had to pay city tax on arrival but staff tried to demand we had to pay in cash (we didn’t have any) as it was a ‘city rule’ but eventually gave in. Not the most appealing hotel at all but if you are trying to really budget travel like us then it does a job!
Stay away!!
Terrible! Worst stay of my life no AC so very hot!!! No fridge! Exposed wiring!
Over all not a pleasant experience, wouldn't come
Room was small, dust everywhere, under the bed on the fan, dirt behind the toilet. even in the bathroom there was a sanitary napkin cover from previous guests on the floor. When you flash the toilet the water sprinkles from the water tank which is above your head, on your head. The mattresses are horrible uncomfortable that you can hardly can sleep on. Also confusing we booked Demetra Capitolina, but it says Hotel Dina everywhere. When I complained about cleanliness on the reception the men said,he has no other room and the HK cleaned in the morning. That's it.!
The worst room I ever been in. It’s not a real hotel. No AC and the receptionist told me to open the window. People outside are loud and all kind of druggies are sitting under the window. There is no toilet or bathroom in the room. It’s a shared one that is dirty and you se the towels from other people are everywhere. Dirty sheets and bedding covers. In the morning I found myself behind locked doors can’t go out with other couple , it was 6 AM and no one in the reception for 15 min of calling and knocking on doors until I managed to leave from some connecting door with Nextdoor building because my flight was 9AM. It’s the worse experience.
Hotel it’s old and rooms and furniture are not in very good condition. The location is the best part. Walking distance to Termini Train station and to touristic places. Staff speaks very limited English. Unique Hotel kind of Victorian style. Recommend overall if you will be out most of the time. Staff nice and helpful.
We chose this property for its location close to Station Termini - so have to accept that the area is busy and noisy. The tram ran right outside our window and when it stopped the gentlemen across the road discussed life loudly for the rest of the night. Closing the windows made the room very warm. Its a tourist area so I guess it must get very boring having to explain, on the map, to all guests where the hotel is in relation to the favourite tourist attractions. The explanation was certainly done quickly.
Terrible conditions, no air conditioning, dirty, extremely noisy, lick on the door did not work properly. Terrible experience.
Did not feel safe to stay at property, we went up viewed our booked room and found holes in all the sheets, the foam of the mattress was exposed, nothing looked clean. You also needed to have the key in the door for it to lock but on the same key ring was the key you needed to put in the wall for the lights to work. So you could not have a locked door and the lights on at the same time. We were also lied to about having a private bathroom and it was shared. The staff was also trying to say it was fine. The area is definitely not safe for solo female travellers at night. When booked they had a much better rating, with what we saw and current reviews it was worth losing the cost of our stay for our safety.
Decent for a 2 star
Avoid like fire
I don’t know how this establishment can call itself a hotel. I’ve seen better hostels and campsites. Horrible conditions. Elevator not working. Shared bathroom in terrible state without hot water in the evening. Staff barely speaking English. Rooms tiny and in disastrous conditions, and incredibly loud.
Very kind staff and in the heart of rome. Excellent travel connections and brilliant surrounding area. I think the shared bathroom part should be more clear though.
Y
Clean, convenient, friendly
The receptionist was unpolite sarcastic. The room was so cheap dirty and the matress so hard that you feel the iron springs on your nack. Pillow yellowish dirty same matress and cover underneath. The fine duat fluff on the duvet is incredible. The toilet flush is like spilling water from a cup! NO surveillance camera in THE HALLWAY. I didnt felt safe. They have diffrent floors they look more clean. They gave me.one on 3rd floor.
This is a great hotel to use just as a base. It’s in a great location near to main train station. There are supermarkets and restaurants near by for when your tired and don’t want to go to far to eat after a long day. It’s a no frills hotel but for the price and a base it’s ok. The room was nice and clean. The only thing is outside it can be very noisy due to a tram coming past quiet a lot. Noise doesn’t bother us so we were fine with it. Overall it’s a great little hotel does what it says on the tin. I would stay there again
The beddings and towels were clean and tidy. The TV wasn’t working properly, the door lock wasn’t working. The safe wasn’t working as well
The shower on the bathroom no good. You rent a room, but if you want breakfast 10€ pp, you want AC 10€ per day... ridiculous...
Was sceptical due to reviews, but we had a pleasant stay. We had our own bathroom. It could get quite noisy at night with windows open but we were so tired from exploring the beautiful city that it didn’t bother us. If you want air con you need to pay extra. We didn’t bother and we’re fine with the fan in the room.
the hotel could do with renovation and painting. However the room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed and I would stay here again. only 5 minutes walk from the railway station and close to many restaurants and shops.
NO AIR CONDITIONING
No air conditioning. It's August in Italy. Spend some money on a split-unit. Just a box fan. 95 degrees Fahrenheit in the room.
Convenient location with easy access to all important tourist places. Good restaurants around. Staff are not so helpful, fan in room had issue when reported I was asked to take portable fan to my room on my own. One of staff expected to speak in Italy even though they understood my language and the way it was conveyed was quite rude. Room was over all ok and washroom was clean and well equipped. Found cigarettes bud so not sure if room was cleaned throughly. If you are looking for a stay in proximity and good access and good food around then this is good option, ask and ensure that rooms are cleaned properly.
Convenient and cheap spot right near the main train station in Rome. Could use with some updates but good for the price.
Good: Close to Train Station Bad: No A/C, no ceiling fan (was advertised), hadbto wait 15 min to check in as worker was on the phone and told us to wait. Crap littered in hallway. Dirty glass in room. Weird towels looked like curtains. Has seen much better days Im sure. Wouldnt go back.
A lot of charm and life in this old building
Had no hot water on our last 2 nights (middle of winter). Staff was rude about bringing guests over. They make you leave your key with them when you leave but then when you get back theres no staff at the desk to give you your key. Waited 30 minutes in the lobby just to go to my room
Bad conditions, very good location.
When we arrived there were no blankets on the beds, no working heating in the room, no fridge, no shampoo no toilets paper and no internet in the room. Then we knew that there is no heating before 18:00, and it was not possible to make any kind of warm drinks in the room. When we asked, they said it is a standard room, but it was not. The only good thing that they have reception 24 hours.
hotel was within walking distance of railway station and quite a few restaurants.. front desk staff were pleasant. room was tiny with only basic furnishings. bathroom was ill equipped for showering, very small and only one towel supplied. hotel guests were not monitored, young people ran around the hallways, rode the elevator and were very noisy until i called to complain. in general, the room was fine for the one night, but i would not have stayed there more than that. very depressing interior. nice appearance from outside, but was too too stark and bare-bones to be a pleasant to want to spend any time at all in the room. lighting was adequate, but the ceiling fan was very noisy. i got what i paid for, a cheap room near the train station, a place for dinner, bit i was only too glad to leave in the morning.
Outside looked nice but inside the rooms were old and run down, shower Limited hot water. Camp beds to sleep on.
Overall a good place to stay close to transportation routes and food options. The property can be noisy in the evenings in rooms that are on corners or face the side next to the tram line. Wifi is only available in the lobby and in a workroom downstairs. It is accessible via codes given by hotel management at front desk. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful. Remember that when booking through expedia the tax for the city is not included. The hotel will only take these payments in cash.
Perfect location, terrible conditions
Property is old, no air conditioning, you could hear the noise from downstair restsurant and the passing train.
Problem with the Wifi connection, it does not reach to the room. You will be charged for the air condition in your room additional of your rate.
Nice room in a great location right next to the main train station. Friendly staff and daily housekeeping, really enjoyed our time there.
OKish Hotel in a Nice Part of Rome
A nice looking hotel, in a nice area - plus right by the main Terminal (Termini). But... they charge an add'l $15 for the remote to the A/C. And our beds were very uncomfortable.
No complaints
Old hotel which has seen better days. But a bargain price and a great location near the station, midway between the Colosseum and the Vatican, make it a good budget choice. It's noisy (passing trams and drunken Brits) but with earplugs it's bearable.
HDC disappointment
Not what we expected ,staff very rude and the hotel was run down. Bed was very stiff and uncomfortable. TV in the room did not work. Was very close to the train station. I would not recommend staying here.
Value for money, great location. However, be mindful when planning to stay near termini station as the nearby community are quite complex but i still have great experience.
Loacation Location Location
excellent location and friendly staff. In need of repair and beds are not built for comfort.
Do not stay at this hotel.
Very bad hotel.
No more stay
Poor service and reception counter staff
Clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location and everything you need for a great stay in Rome
cold hotel
Тhe hotel was very cold, the steam is only allowed for a few hours and can not heat the rooms that are very high. The temperature is lower on the street and if cold days fall, you risking getting sick. Do not lie about the pictures
just a small step above the dorm-level. 1) toilуt is all-in one combining all water related facilities. 2) no internet in the room. 3) no drinking water in the room, no fridge. 4) only one stool is available in the room. 5) electric circuit did not have a protective shield. 6) the only table available in the room was very shaky, about to fall apart.
Good only for one night due to accessible location
The location is great but the price is not commensurate with the room condition. It's a good thing, I have to stay only 1 night. In addition, they don't have computers to check emails, they are still living in the past.
Awful from start to finish
This hotel was awful! When we entered our room, we were shocked by the state of the accommodation. Mould was on the walls with large cracks running from the floor to the ceiling. There were stains all over the walls from previous occupants with brown stains on the bed. The whole place felt unclean and unkempt. There was dirt and grime all over the door rim to the bathroom and the cleanliness was disgusting. The bathroom was tiny, no bigger than a large cupboard with no space to shower. Should we have turned on the shower, everything in the bathroom would have been soaked. To top it all off, our door would not lock. This was of particular concern to us as the hotel felt unsafe and to be unable to lock the door was unacceptable. When we raised our concerns to the staff member he was extremely unhelpful and was unable to offer us an alternative. The photos online do not give an accurate picture of this hotel.
Really nice hotel staff is very friendly and helpful and the location is great for the tourist
The location was great, the bathroom is severely outdated.
You get what you pay for...I would not stay here again..........
The bangali staff was very good
Great location and nice hotel
It is so difficult to turn in your key before going out and getting it back when you return especially there is only one person working at the reception..
Great, except our rate didn't include wifi. Also, the reception requires that you turn in the key when you go out from the hotel, which is actually common in Europe, but uncomfortable nonetheless.
Convenient location to Roma Termini
You get what you pay for with this hotel. I would not stay here long term but for one night the cost and location were great.
not recommended!
we moved in the same neighborhood to an lovely hotel the next day! lots of choices but this hotel would not be my choice anytime!
modest hotel, good location
our stay in Rome was a successful and pleasant one. the hotel is conveniently located: only 5 min. walking distance from the Termini RR station; subway station, numerous eating places, souvenir shops, good grocery super market are nearby. it is within walking distances (15-20 min) from the most major attractions.
friendly staff and a good location. Stayed two times in 3 weeks as I travelled with my granddaughter
Good for the prices paid
The hotel is in a good zone, but the Internet is bad and you have to pay for it
Nice hotel close to attractions
Lovely, reasonable priced hotel. Local main attractions and restaurants are within walking distance perfect if your a little nervous about getting round. Roads are clearly labelled and the hotel gives you maps and other useful bits of information.
A little noisy. Good position.
We lived at 1 floor. Because there is no air condition and fan, it is a little hot if you don't open the window. But, if you open, there is a little noisy because of the city train and restaurant. Really close to train station and supermarket.
Nice hotel, Good Location
The hotel is at v good location . they allowed us to do early check in. Only problem we faced was during check in when we tried to enquire about last bus to airport our receptionist told its was 9:30 pm and hence u shld buy the hotel airport drop facility. While the last bus was at 00:15.
A bit disappointing
A policy of depositing your key every time you go out, and having to be manually buzzed through 2 (!) doors before you can get to your room is just kind of annoying. Plus no wifi in the rooms, and expensive and poorly performing wi-fi in the lobby just kinda made the experience less than stellar. Apart from those things it was adequate.
Despite the decor this is a comfortable hotel, the staff are eager to help and its 2 minutes from Termini station.
It's a front
I would have liked to be reviewing the Demetra Capitolina, which is where we booked, instead of the considerably poker Hotel Orbis, which is where we were assigned a room. I have never had to pay extra for getting air conditioning before, cheap at 10 euros a day (not!). The dodgy little TV perched precariously over my elder daughter's head was also interesting as was the world's smallest shower cubicle and the total absence of towel rails in the bathroom. The staff were the most positive part of this hotel - very pleasant and helpful. The wi-fi situation was also not as promised on the website - it was not available in the rooms.
Stinky halls, tiny bathrooms, leaking shower, should pay additionally for "personal" bathroom, otherwise - it's "shared" (on the floor).
handy city centre hotel, close to termini.
Some attention needed to decor. Basic breakfast but adequate for a shortstay.
convenient to train station, but not spectacular
rather noisy: busy street and café scene below the windows, and loud passing trams throughout the night. The breakfast was not spectacular, and not always included. The Wi-Fi is not free of charge, and the connection is not spectacular. Poorly ventilated room; did not see any air conditioning, and it was even noisier if window was opened. most staff friendly; left luggage service. Cleanliness was adequate I suppose, but bathroom was one of those setups where the shower is not in a separate stall, so you're basically showering standing by the toilet. The hotel location was convenient--a few blocks from main train station in rome, but the room was...you guessed it, not spectacular!
Friendly and helpful staff.
Very close to tourist attractions and the train and bus. Great restaurant on the street in front of the hotel.
Close to the Termini Station
Needed a room to sleep and shower for two nights close to the Termini Station and this Hotel was very convenient, great location very easy to find even at night the bed was hard and the noise from the train was not so nice. Lots of good restaurants very close by, but no free Wi Fi.
What a WASTE!!!!
The only positive thing I have to say about this hotel is the fact that it is right beside the train station. The lady that checked us in was the rudest person I have ever encountered. There were cobwebs all over the wall and ceiling. My wife used a cloth to clean off the light switches and door handles and it was disgusting to see what was left on the rag. The floor was sticky and when we pulled the comforter off the bed, there were hairs and all sorts of "stuff" on the sheets. It looked as thought the sheets were not even changed prior to us arriving, I think they just made the bed for us and we were to sleep on dirty sheets. We had sleeping bags, so we decided to just stick it out. The next morning, I stepped in our nasty shower. I had no idea, but the drain was completely clogged. There was nothing to keep the water in the shower area, so it flooded the bathroom floor, and the whole floor to our hotel room. Upon further inspection, the drain was packed full of hair from previous guests. When we went and got house keeping, the lady only dried the water in the visible spots. She never bent over to dry the water under the bed, under the desk, or under the drawer. She left and our room was still soaked. We went to the front desk to ask for a clean room. We were billed an additional $75 for 2 nights to be "upgraded" to a better room. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS PLACE.
Could be better
small room, uncomfortable bathroom, smell
Hotel close to transport and restaurants.
Hotel room was not very clean, not what we booked and the bathroom was a disgrace. The shower head had more water coming out above it than through the rose. The toilet seat did not fit the bowl and was too small. When we asked for the shower to be looked at this didn't happen.
Great location, friendly staff but a bit grimy in places and breakfast wasn't great
Nice hotel located in the downtown.
Hotel is located very close to major attractions in Rome like Colloseum and Vatican City. There are metro services available to Colloseum and Vatican. Termini station is close by. Many eating places are outside the hotel.
Great location and value.
Great location. Clean and comfortable. Warm. No hot water on the day we stayed.
If you don't want to sleep at night.
Too noisy - close to the train station. But the cleaning trucks and people downstairs who would eat on the street restaurants very loud. Rooms are burning hot in summers with no AC. And on top of that, everyone would slam their door shut causing a havoc at night whenever anyone wold come in or leave the room.
On a very nice street
Did not like! Bathroom didnt have a toilet seat & when you took a shower the whole bathroom was wet because there wasnt a real shower...just a showerhead in the corner next to the toilet. Gross!
Demetra Capitolina
The worst hotel I have ever seen !!!
hotel demetra capitiolina in rome
what a horrible hotel, 6-7 o'clock in the morning carpenters hammered, talked noisy and phones were ringing all the time, the thin walls made it impossible to sleep and the staff wasn't very helpful. when we came to the hotel it turned out that we also had to share bathroom with other people, even though that information wasn't given to us beforehand. we had to pay an extra fee to have our own ensuite. we were suppose to stay there three nights, the second we checked out and went to stay at hotel california instead across the road, same prize - ten times nicer and better!!!
not comfortable hotel
noise outside is loud, will stop around 2am. please find a better hotel if you can.
Demetra Capitolina - Venice, IT
I have only stayed at this one hotel in Venice so it is hard to compare against others. It doesn't compare to the inexpensive hotels that are near airports that have king beds (not two bends pushed together), big shower, new pillows (not rock solid neck breakers), and nice check in staff. It is also a pain to walk your luggage to from the train station (if you don't plan on a river ride there and back. It was relatively quite, decent sun shade for sleeping in, and included a little bfast with cost.
Not-so-comfy Hotel in Rome
It was really a big surprise to find out that our room had no aircon when the website said A/Cs were available in ALL rooms. Speaking about truth in advertising. In the middle of summer (Aug. 15/11), there was only a small fan so it was far from being comfortable at night. To add to this woe, our room was beside a tram railway so it was noisy whenever a tram passed by. Receptionist Marco was friendly but the other guy was not. There's also a weird smell near the reception desk and a foul smell from the common toilet in the 2nd floor so they better use air freshener there. Our room was clean, though, and the hotel was near the Termini so its location was perfect. We'd been to Paris, Brussels, etc. but we found this hotel's price unreasonable if you summarize what it had to offer. It should be priced at least 10 euros less per night. You could consider it with a very tight budget & for a stay of a few days but otherwise, you may look elsewhere.
Pleasant Stay
the room was very basic and clean. the bathroom was small with a shower-head over the toilet, but the water pressure was great and the water was hot. Also the location was great and i felt very safe. It was an easy walk to the metro, bus, restaurants and close to great sites. we did not opt for the breakfast but instead went to a nearby supermarket and bought breakfast instead.
Hotel Termini Rome - Close to Termini Station
We stayed for 3 nights in June, 2011. The hotel was in a good location. The hotel room was fair for the price especially as the hotels in the neighbourhood are all expensive. The staff were not at all helpful and seemed that the work they were doing behind the counter was more important than attending to their clients. They charged my card for one night in advance when I told them I would pay them cash on the day we arrived. Although they say in their literature 'thank you for your stay and for your trust' it seems they don't have any trust in anyone else. The shower did not drain the water very well and as a result the bedroom and adjoining hall was flooded. The manager blamed us for their problem. Overall the service and attitude of the hotel was poor and I would not recommend this hotel to any one.
VERY GOOD
WE LIKE THI HOTEL
no-frills, but clean and convenient
Hallway smelled weird, but our room was clean. Location very close to Termini station. Easy walk to Ancient Roman sights. Staff was friendly. Not recommended if you need absolute silence to sleep: street noise was very loud.
Good located with a lot of noise.
The Hotel was very convenient located, however in the evening there was a lot of noise. The walls seemed from paper, you can hear all your neighbors below, next to you etc. Very safe at every moment of the day and no free access to the entrance which made it safe. Close to Termini station which is very convenient and also close to stores.
Our stay was awful! The front desk woman was rude when we arrived. The room was very cold and the bed and pillows were the hardest I've ever felt. The bathroom consisted of a toilet, bidet, sink and shower (without any stall) within a 4'x6' area! The proximity to the train station was nice, but homeless people and groups of possible pick-pocketers outside of the hotel was not. I'd recommend spending an extra $10-20 and going somewhere else, it's worth it!!
Terni-Perfectl
The accommodation provided by Terni Hotel in Rome was perfectly adequate. It is nothing fancy but if you are looking for a nice, safe, inexpensive room in a great location, this is a good place. There are many restaurants around and only 2 blocks from Termini Station.
Decent hotel close to city's central transportation hub
Reception was pretty good. We did not use any services. Neighborhood is pretty loud, but busy, with shops, internet cafe, and multiple busy restaurants. A better hotel would have been in a quieter location, with better hotel quality.
awful-be aware!!!!!!!!!!!!
The hotel asked me to pay one more time my accommodation-I had to run away from the hotel or to pay one more time my stay-awful!!!!
Hotel Demetra Capitolina | Hotel in Rome | Travala.com
Very friendly, cool elevator, relatively inexpensive.
