This is a reasonably priced hotel with decent rooms. The pillows are the worst I’ve ever seen and it’s in a bit of a sketchy area weird to access the parking lot. There is construction going on all around so there’s A LOT of noise at unreasonable times. However, staff are friendly and it was clean and walking distance away from a nice beach. Its good for a cheap option!
goof
I think its over priced for the minimal quality.
Good place to stay
Spent one night. It was quiet and clean. Someone was at the desk at all times.
👌
It was fine
We missed the last ferry back to Isla and desperately needed a place to stay. Toilet was a little weak shower door didn't close a little musty smell the springs in the bed hurt a bit ....but it was fairly clean and safe and got us out of a late night jam
This property is right in front of the ferry terminal to isla mujeres and there is always convenient public transportation to the center and hotel zone beaches, the staff are helpful and it’s a good economic option,
Basic accommodation but clean & convenient Great location right beside the ferry terminal to Isla Mejeres
Everything is superclean and the staff is very friendly
Good location horrible hotel
Reasonable price in the area.
Great for price
I have no regrets staying at Hotel del sol. It’s location is everything and very reasonable!
Friendly and polite staff, good house cleaning and clean. Not close to anything in particular, no restaurant on premise. Bus and taxi services are available. We were comfortable and will stay there again.A rental car next time
Staff is very pleasant and accommodating
Quick place to sleep before moving on
Desk clerk minimally interested. Parking just fine. Neighborhood not convenient to dining options. Walls paper thin. Cockroach on our door :( OK for a quick place to sleep before moving on.
I liked how close it was to the ferry and the people there were friendly. The night staff guy was nice I was booked into a room that had no lights and he moved me into another one for some reason the air conditioner was not as strong as the other room but I still liked the room. Would stay again it was close to the ferry.
Meets your needs for quick transport to/from ferry. Clean and friendly staff.
The personal was helpful at all times. Marco at the front desk went above and beyond his way to make our stay enjoyable.
Good location if you are taking the ferry. Overall it was great for the price. Only negative was no fridge in room and spotty wifi.
Functional but super basic
For the price it worked ok. Just very basic place to sleep, but nothing remotely warm or comfortable about it. Hard tile floors. Thin mattresses on springs. We just stayed there because we missed the ferry and needed to catch it the next morning. For the price it was fine and the people were nice. Just don’t expect anything fancy.
Clean cool rooms at a value price
I was within walking distance for all my essentials !
Good, but closest beach is closed
Quiet, clean, great location a short walk to a public beach. The rooms were clean and well kept. A couple downsides: the closest beach to the property (right across the street) is closed with barbed wire around it. You need to walk down the street 5 min to get to the beach. At night, buses use the turnaround outside to back up and make loud beeping noises. It's not terrible, just something to be aware of.
Recommended - Great value!
Clean, convenient, and a great value! Close to the beach, especially if you have a vehicle. Staff was very friendly. Parking was on the street, but easy to find in the evenings. Would come back here again next time we come to Isla Mujeres.
Location, Reception Staff were both excellent. Close to the beach, ferry, and a bunch of places to eat.
Fine for the price. Quite clean. No extras like shampoo or blow dryer.
This hotel is a great option for arriving after midnight from a late flight when you miss the last ferry to Isla Mujeres. The front desk agent was very kind and welcoming. The server at breakfast was delightful and the quesadillas were delicious. The room and lobby area were clean. There is a purified water dispenser in the breakfast room so you can refill your water bottles. Overall great value.
Nothing and not pool. The staff was friendly, and helpful
This property is good to go. Clean rooms and helpful people. Free parking, they have Netflix and tv. Internet is fast, can play you tube or anything on your phone without delay. Breakfast was decent. You get coffee ham and cheese omelette. They have a lady that comes in the morning and makes everything fresh in a small kitchen. Do not think that you will be having some crazy stuff... just simple but filling breakfast. Downside is that in the back of it looks a bit rough... poor people and some people would think is dangerous but it is not. There is an Oxxo across the street where they have beer smokes food. 6 pack $4.50 Canadian. The hotel is by a bus station: R1 hotel zone.. you take this bus and it will get downtown in 20-25 mins, drop you right by coco bongo or wherever you prefer in the hotel zone. * WHEN RETURNING FROM HOTEL ZONE TAKE R1 PUERTO JUAREZ . THE OTHER R1s ARE FOR DOWNTOWN AND OTHER PLACES*
Great short term stay hotel. We are going to stay in Isla Mujeres so it perfect as it right across the street from the ferry. great older neighborhood definitely not hotel zone amenities but we prefer the slower pace.
Small but nice modern hotel. Not fancy, just a nice clean place to stay. It is not located in the known Cancun tourist area, rather at the oposite end of town, at the ferry dock for Isla Mujeres. Very strong WIFI throughout with several computers available. Have not tried the breakfast which seems rather limited. Neat roof terrace. There are several "tables in the sand" type restaurants in the area, with all Mexican clientel serving mostly sea food and generally not open before afternoon. Next to the ferry dock is a more upscale restaurant ( La Mandinga) in a nice location on the water, serving good food opening at 1pm.
Very clean. Large rooms good Ac. Area around it is run down and no restaurants are open after 8 pm. Great value for the money.
Great Deal, Great Breakfast! Convenient to Puerto Juarez.
The hotel is clean and the service is good. Where it is located is unfortunaly not a good place.whit the taxi that are asking to mutch and nothinh to do in this area.
it was ok every think was close the stores we did not to far for restaurants
Hotel del Sol is staffed by accomodating and friendly staff. My arrival was early but they got my room ready as soon as the could. Nice small boutique kinda hotel right across from Marinsa Ferry dock at the end of two bus lines and on a colectivo van route - all running at 10pesos a ride. Couple of small fresh, inexpensive seafood places on waters edge couple blocks near Playa de Ninos public beach. Couple street carts serving beach goers too!
Staff was excellent and very friendly especially our girl Luisa.. she was very helpful when booking our destinations for our tours. Is true the hotel is away from everything but there’s a store oxxo 24 hours and a restaurant Mandinga excellent food and friendly service..
I recommend this hotel because is clean and the services are great.
Great service and great value for that price bracket
Sun deck is fantastic!
Fantastic value place. This hotel was so convenient for us as it is only 600 meters walk from ferry from Isla Mujeres where we had been staying. The room was comfortable, although it felt a bit enclosed. Fantastic that we got breakfast included. The sun deck was the winning factor for us. So comfortable, and we had it to ourselves every time we used it
Great locale
Awesome place and staff clean and so nice to be away from the touristy area
Near the locals and away from the mainstream nonsense. Awesome stay
Close to the beach
I did not realize how close this was to the beach and for the price it’s great. The front desk people were extremely helpful and nice. I had lots of things delivered to me and they were always nice to put them in my room, always called when my transportation was at the hotel. The cleaning lady Magda was wonderful! She was super nice and always had are room squeaky clean. The only downside for me was the beds were not comfortable at all. But I would definitely recommend
Do NOT stay here.
I'm writing this review from my room at 2:30 AM because I cant sleep here for the third night in a row! There is loud music late night to past 3AM coming from what I now know is a "private party" room very well concealed on the first floor below me! I have tried all three nights to find where the music and laughter is coming from and take care of the problem myself but cannot get to this room! I have complained 5 Times over the course of three days, to various staff members who all start acting very strange when confronted with this. They have been giving me very sketchy and nonsensical reasons for the music. I really lost it and screamed at the front desk tonight but they refuse to do anything about it and told me I should Change rooms! Trying to imagine what's going on down there and why they are trying so hard to conceal it, I'll leave that to your imagination! Obviously whatever it is, it is more important to them than my or your experience here. Do not stay at Hotel Del Sol, save yourself!
Only complaint is location. Just a little too far from downtown and the hotel zones. Once you figure out the buses, you will be fine. Staff was great and the hotel was a great overall value.
Perfecto!
Best place I've found for staying close to the airport before flying out. Perfect combination of price, proximity and away from the intolerably densely touristy sectors.
Hotel very nice
Everything nice except the mattress very inadequate for comfort ,,hard and lumpy. Thank you Price was excellent
Hotel was good, beds and showers were horrible .
Nice hotel convenient to the ferry.
Waiting for our friends to arrive and ferry over to Isla Mujeres with us, this is a pleasant place to stay with a nice roof top viewing area. Also, really nice that they had a computer for me to use because I don't like to travel with electronics.
wifi connection
It is accomodating hotel especially if u want to visit Isla Mujeres, the bad thing in the hotel is the wifi - you need to be in the lobby so you can use it. 😔
10/10!!!!!
10/10!!!!
Hotel del Sol - Very clean and friendly
We checked in very late at 3:30 am. and had our room waiting with a smile. Very clean and friendly hotel. Offered breakfast until 10 am and had a secure holding room for our luggage. Highly recommend!
Nice for a short stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Room was clean, very basic. I don't recommend for extended stay. No pool or any extras.
Privacy
It was close to oxxo which makes it awesome. you need anything it can be found there. they are small lol restaurants good to eat. yet far from city
Suited for long stay
I stayed there for one week. All staffs were friendly and kind although my Spanish is not complete. When I checked in, the room was fusty a little but it was only the first few hours. The WiFi was patchy. Because the hotel is located a little bit far from the downtown, you need to take a taxi or local bus to go there. Spanish natives and experienced travelers can enjoy the stay.
Far from resort beach but cheap
It's pretty far from the resort beach area, once you figure out how to get around it's not bad, the ferry to isla mujeres is across the street. There are no restrraunts close by that are open past 7pm, so you have to take a cab downtown! The staff are helpful and sweet, safe low key area.
Good hotel stuff and good transportation
Hotel Stuff very friendly and this hotel not far from Cancun downtown, good transportation also this hotel near restaurant and food shop.
Comfortable and clean
About 1km from Grand Puerto, which is the departure port for Isla Mujeres. All rooms are up some fairly steep stairs. Rooms are clean, and quiet. No restaurant on site, but continental breakfast provided. Oxxo nearby, as is restaurant Madinga which adds a service charge on all meals, regardless on service.
Old hotel, toilet did not work, bathroom was dirty
Had to check out early. The Hotel was uncomfortable and unclean.
Value for money hotel near the beach
The hotel is value for money with light breakfast provided..
First-time
Good location out of the path great staff Continental breakfast not a great value
Trying to stay within budget
Would recommend staying here If you plan on visiting PLAYA DE MUJERES other than that your far away from la Zona hotelera. You have to take a taxi to go to the beaches, mercados, etc.
Fantastico!!!!
We loved our stay at Hotel del Sol! Very European and boutique, this hotel is perfectly located across from the old ferry terminal in Puerto Juarez. Convenience store across the street, Mandingo's Restaurant across the street (wonderful food and staff.) The beach (Playa de los Ninos), and other restaurants are all within walking distance. The R1 buses and collectivos make it very easy to get around. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast was also very good! Marcos and his travel agency is right next door, so if you want to do any excursions to Chichen Itza, Tulum, Playa del Carmen, etc., it is very easy to arrange. We are definitely looking forward to a return visit next year!
Nice Hotel if you just need to sleep
Over all the experience was good but the best thing of all was location and it's also not to crowded. The hotel needs to provide basic essentials such as shampoo, hair dryer and stuff.
Clean, cool, & comfortable!!!
Located in an older more rundown touristy area of Cancun near the northern end by the beach. This is the perfect place to stay if you are looking to do a day trip to Isla Mujeres as this hotel is a 5 min walk to the ferry doc. There is only one Ferry doc near here now and it is called Puerto Juarez (the old doc across from this hotel is for private tour boats only). This hotel offers breakfast for about $10 but if you are feeling adventurous you can walk about 15 mins south on the main road and you will arrive at a market that has quite a few breakfast places (50 pesos for full breakfast including coffee and juice), it is just before the overpass. There are no really nice beaches near this hotel but there is a mediocre one about 10 min walk north on the main road, we didn't swim here but instead took a taxi for 100 pesos to the top of the hotel district to the first public beach, it was a nice little swimming area with no waves. We had no hot water the second day but as soon as we let the staff know it was fixed within the hour. They have comfortable, very clean rooms. There is air conditioning but we did not use it or need it as the fan was enough since the rooms are naturally cool. Wish they had coffee in the lobby in the morning but since they did not I was able to just cross the street and get it at the OXXO (Mexican convenience store). Would definitely stay here again. The restaurant "Mandingo" just down the street (tourist prices) has delicious shrimp.
Crash pad at best
If you are looking for a crash pad before you head to Isla Mujeres, this is OK at best. Pros- semi clean, cheap price. Cons- hot (our AC didn't work and they didn't care), curtains let in tons of light, room very loud (people inside hotel and dogs barking, people outside all night), breakfast is not good, very very very sketchy area. Bombed out and run down neighborhood across from the port. We defiantly did not feel safe going outside at night. There are no restaurants, bars or anything nearby with-in walking distance, just a oxxo convenience store across street. Beds are super tiny, no bathroom amenities at all. Definitely would not stay here again, ever.
They gave our room away
Worst hotel ive ever stay at, First they gave our room away then they stuck is in a lil 1 bed room with an air mattress on the floor. Their was no water pressure no hot water and hard uncomfortable mattress never slept so bad in my life only ended up stay 1 night out of 10 will never return.
Horrible hotel
This hotel is Horrible. Dont ever book this hotel. I dont even know where to start. Me and my friend booked this hotel for 7 days. The day we arrived was actually the day that we should have packed out things and run as fast as we could away from this place. Let me start with the location. There is litarally nothing to do/see or eat in the area. If you wanna take the ferry to Isla Mujeres, trust me; its not across the street. You have to walk back to the beginng of the street to get on the ferry. Then there is the wifi! If you use wifi to check your mail and stay in contact with your friends and family you are gonna be so disappointed. The wifi doesnt work. Move along to the 'bed' This was just awful. It was so hard. I couldnt sleep on it and my back was in so much pain. Next thing is the shower! Omg, sometimes you dont even have hot water. And when you do have water, its almost nothing. Washing your hair with that tiny bit of water is a challenge. Then we have housekeeping. One day theu forgot to clean our room?!? Like how do you forget that. And when they do clean your room, its still dirty. Im trying to come up with a good thing to say about this hotel, but i just cant. Please save your money and dont book this hotel. Trust me, you are gonna regret it
Good place
Its was clean, staff was helpful & everything is close by.
ok for ferry to isla mujeres but nothing else
basic, with unimpressive staff. A bit overpriced for what it is and where it is.
Good value
This was located right across the street from Puerto Juarez ferry service to Isla Mujeres and UltraMar is down the street, both walking distance. The hotel staff was friendly and everything was clean. It was a quiet hotel with a convenience store directly across the street also. The bed was a little harder than I expected but it actually helped my back!! The drive to Zona Hotelera is easy and about 15-20 min depending on traffic. Parking can be a little tight as the courtyard parking area is very "quaint and cozy"
Cheap options
Cheap hotel near isla mujeres ferry and busses to hotel zone. Great cheap option
There was nothing good about it Horrible neighborhood. Dangerous after dark.
Nice hotel close to the ferry to mujeres island
Clean, close to ferry , front desk guy really nice and helpful .. He recommended what to do in island mujeres.
Cheap, Clean, and Courteous
i don't have anything to add, if you want my review. I stated my experience was great.
Our room had 2 bedrooms and a bath. It was nice to have a hotel that WAS NOT in the hotel zone. The hotel zone seemed way too Americanized and cramped. This was just across the street from the beach and had a handful of restaurants and bars to entertain us. It seems like you aren't in the big city, but just a short drive around the corner and BOOM, there it is.
Sufficient for one night
This hotel is good solely because of it's location right across the street from the ferry to Isla to Mujeres. Otherwise, it's really not located around anything, particularly food places. We had to take a cab to find something for dinner. The room was very very basic, but suited our needs for one night before we went to the airport. The front desk staff was very helpful with booking us a taxi for early the next morning, but it turned out not to be necessary as there were always 3 or 4 taxis waiting right outside of the hotel and ferry, even at 5 am.
Great location, across from the ocean.
Basic, clean accommodation at a fair price.
We stayed one night at Hotel Del Sol. It is located in a great part of town, a short walk to the public beach and great sea side restaurants. It's quiet at night and the ferry to the island is right across the street.
A cheap hotel
A nice and cheap hotel, got what we paid for. But dont have high expectations. Also far from hotel zone.
😁😁😁😁 nice
It was nice and clean close to the ferry and the downtown, it's not a luxury hotel but it's clean and the people who works there they are really hospitalaria
They need to get new matress
Hotel del sol is Hotel del Nice!!
The staff is wonderful! Ms. Estella and Pablo are very helpful especially, but I can't leave out anybody because they are all great wonderful staff! Hotel is clean and close proximity to a public beach, several restaurants, taxis at the ferry, and bus line to downtown. This hotel is also next to an army base and police station across the street at the ferry in VERY quiet neighborhood (Puerto Juarez)! The ferry takes you to Isla Mujeres and me and my wife rode for $14 dollars US round trip (about $280 pesos) the cheapest one by far. There is a terrace on the roof about 4 stories high that you can enjoy relaxing sunrise with coffee or tea (or beer) and catch the sunrise in front of the hotel looking to the east. The only thing negative thing I can say is the beds were hard but king size nevertheless (pushed two singles together) and the rooms are not quite soundproofed as advertised. Overall very accommodating. When we come back will definitely consider staying here again!
Excellent stay and location
Great service. The front desk guy was so polite and accommodating. The location is across from the ferry terminal to isla mujere. Quiet neighbourhood next to a beautiful local beach. You can catch a bus a block away to the hotel zone. It's runs on the hour though. Or take a taxi. Room has hot water, air conditioning, tv, decent internet connection. There is also free computer and Internet use in the lobby. Good rates.
Great little place
Staff friendly, room clean, great price, only needed to stay 1 night, will return.
Nice place to spend a night !
I truly like this hotel, very quite ... Bed mattress need to be change:( to old But beside that very nice room! With AC
I truly enjoy this hotel, hotel team is very kind and friendly , make you feel welcome and provide you with information to help you go around, the room is completely clean, the bed was quite hard needs a replacement, Across the Islas mujeres ferrie, good hotel!!!
Its worth for the $ and safe parking in the back for cars
A Good place to stau while visiting Isla Mujeres
Great hotel across from the ferry. Breakfast was good. Avoid the Chinese restaurant- Just across the street on the beach is a small restaurant that serves a good fried fish and a cold beer. Tranquiil.
Will stay here again
Basic but clean. Hotel is small but lobby and stairs are very bright and spacious. Room spacious enough. Small pool in back, across from reception desk.Good cable selection, although mostly in Spanish. Saw several European families here with children in the 4-5 year age group. They played quietly in pool. Best feature is location since restaurants and stores are numerous on the same street. 24 hour staff at desk was desirable for us since we had a late flight. Only spoke Spanish at this hour; day staff spoke English. Got transport at airport thru SuperShuttle to Puerto Juarez, and took 10:30 pm ferry. Late night activity during low end of August days were mostly on this street. Hot water water issues as others mentioned, but on a very hot humid day it is not a big deal. AC was quite cold. Grocery store about a 5 intersections south, then left. Convenience store across street sells water, liquor, snacks. Restaurant prices can vary widely.
Stay Experience
The hotel is decent for the price. It is located right in front of the ferry ship to isla mujeres. The room is clean and the break fast is ok, toast or cereal. Compared to other hotels for the price, it is a deal.
Great bang for your buck.
A mile out of downtown Cancun but right across the road from the Isla Majuras ferry. Clean, great AC, awesome bang for your buck.
Clean and modern. In front of the port
Excellente.just excellente.clean and the staff very happy to assist you.good. Good.good
Nice place, across the street from ferry.
experience was wonderful, people were very nice. Breakfast was a steel at about a U.S. Dollar. Staff very friendly.
Was not close to anything
Every time I wanted to go to the beach, eat, or do anything other than stay in my room, I expected to pay at least 45-50 pesos for a taxi. The comfort of the bed and pillows was terrible. The pillows felt like lumpy sacks of flour and the bed might as well have been a wood board.
Good hotel with friendly employees but awful owner
I gave a 3 to the hotel staff because the employees receive from me a 5, but the owner deserves a 1. She is not kind like her employees
Hotel del Sol | Hotel in Cancun | Travala.com
Awesome location, within walking distance to ferry and restaurants. Great staff with excellent customer service. The only issue is that there is no hot water sometimes, maybe due to the water heater not being on or not big enough to warm the water for all guests.
