Disapointing Stay
Really disappointing! Would not stay again, firstly, no kettle in room, nor tea/coffee facilities either, instructed to buy a flask for staff to fill, then when requested, asked for 2 Euros for each flask of hot water. Beds were super uncomfortable and hard, air conditioning didn’t work, just blew out hot air. Curtains were not blockout, albeit did not cover the full window to prevent light. The bathroom was old, the shower temperature control was a challenge, couldn’t maintain an adequate temperature.
Longterm customer, not a happy camper
We are regulars to this Hotel and everything went well through check in, in fact they gave us an upgrade, however when we went for breakfast there were so many visitors there we just took two apples and started to return to our room. I was approached by the manager to return to the front desk where I was told I could not take the 2 apples to our room and had to eat them in the dining room. I was shocked and totally embarrassed by this action in front of other guests, this was done even though I am a longterm customer. The apples were left, we checked out, they came running after us saying they were sorry but the rules were clear all food had to be consumed in the dining room. We were not taking the apples out of the building. So for future guests who will be chosing this hotel, be sure NOT to take any food out beyond the dining room. As for us, we will never retulrn to this hotel again
Another stay at the Contilia
This hotel is convenient to the airport bus (9 euros per person oneway), Rome Termini rail station and local nus services (1.50 euro per person per trip). We always stay at the Contilia when we are in Rome amd have noticed a slight downward trend to their complimentary breakfast however all service snd staff are gresy.
Top class stay
Great staff on desk and the cleaning ladies were smiling and pleasant great breakfast and brilliant location for bars and restaurants easy and amazing to walk into the centre
Everything was good and Nico was amazing always helping me and answering all my questions and helping me with addresses and how to go around the city. Just the last 2 days the rooms next to me got rented I was and those guest were super loud and the housekeeping always forgetting to leave toilet paper in our room , that I had to go downstairs to the desk to get more. But other than that all good, the hotel was very convenient next to the train station to go to Pisa , Florence , Venice . Not a fancy hotel but clean and good to spend the night just what I needed because I was up and above around the city…
Better options out there. Extremely outdated hotel with uncomfortable mattresses, plus the entire room smelled like old people house including the linen and towels. If someone smokes in the sidewalk or courtyard, be ready to breath everything in. Plenty of hotels in Rome. Do not book this property
Nice hotel in good area. Breakfast buffet had good selections. Staff was friendly. Restaurants all around the hotel. I would stay here again. Near train station.
Elevator was slow, shower very small, could have used more breakfast options. Otherwise it was an excellent stay in a good location with a very friendly staff
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Contilla. Its location for all the major sightseeing was perfect and its proximity to Roma Termini was so handy for us. The breakfasts they included were a great way to start the day. The staff was wonderful, especially Nick.
Highly recommended!
Very clean and beautiful room.
Perfect spot for my needs in Rome
Pictures online while say what it is
The breakfast was good. But, the rooms really need some work. Sink was plugged, tv didn’t work well. Washroom didn’t flush properly. In 10 years it’s my 6th time there and nothing changed from 10’years ago exactly same decor.
Please if you are planning to go to this place you have time to not do it. You will be very dissapointed just entering the neightborhood. This place is more than old, not clean, I did not even want to take a bath because of the condition of the shower, smell really bad, humidity can be seen in walls and roof, the sheets has human hair (not mine) and a lot. I never give nad reviews but I dont want for another person happen the same as me. Very Unsafe the streets around this place!
Needs improvement
The breakfast was not good, just sweet pastries, and coffee, nothing great, the room was just ok, the bed very uncomfortable the whole room needs a renovation, housekeeping took the soaps everyday and didn’t replace them , the only good comment is their location close to the train and buses
They need elevator to 6 floor
Staff was so nice willing to help with questions we had on just about everything.
Breakfast was almost all carbs. Breakfast staff were rude. No noticeable air conditioning. Water pressure very poor and temperature changes without warning. Location is very handy to the train station.
Great hotel near Roma Termini for trains, subway and taxi. Great restaurants in the same street.
Good stuff
Very nice hotel. Convenient location.
Food was nice.
Nice Stay
Room was dated, a bit small good for a solo traveler dueable for couple it had a mini fridge is close to train station in neighbourhood that does lots of outdoor stalls and restaurants, breakfast was good and cleaning staff efficient daytime front staff very friendly *be careful with the hotwater it will cook a turkey if you turn it too far to the right
Did not expect to have turn-in room key before leaving the room and requesting it upon return. The hotel was conveniently close to the central rail station and there are plenty of dining choices available.
The expedia photos and the actual room we got were completely different. It seems like there is one upgraded floor and thats what the pictures are from. The hotel was average I would say. It was easy to travel from here to go to the many different tourist locations. Room was small, the beds were a bit hard and the shower lacked water pressure. Staff was helpful.
The Contilia hotel it is so nice everything around and the staff 100%
Great location within easy walking distance of Termini station. Breakfast was plentiful. Beds were a little uncomfortable but tolerable.
Close to everything in Rome
Great location. Close to rome termini, local buses, airport bus. Lots of restaurants. We even walked to trevi
location was perfect
Room was supposed to be “superior” very dated, however was clean. Bed very uncomfortable. So called roof terrace was in need of renovation. Breakfast very basic. Gentleman at reception very nice though. Good position for train station and attractions
It is super great location lest of two block from Termini station and staff great
Gr8 hotel & staff - very central to a lot of sights.
No air conditioner, they take 4 hours to change our room, only one key and if you get out of the hotel you have to turn in the key. The air conditioner work only with the room key. We can’t recommend it
Great location. Modern room. Very clean.
Overall customer service, room and breakfast option was great. 2 blocks away from the train station as well as buses running all the time. Many places to buy souvenirs and numerous of restaurants around the area. Only thing that may be inconvenient for some is that the rooms are a little too small but we managed.
the room is small, shower is unstable. the bed is very uncomfortable. the breakfast has very limited choices and it's hard to find something to eat. poor coffee machine... I booked a double bed in 20m2 room . but the room we had has 2 single beds, I guess is probably only 15m2. maybe even less. this is the worst hotel in this trip!
We hardly slept the first night, t’was hot inside our room, eventually the problem was fixed the next day.
They control the A/C at the front desk since it’s central air and they set it to 25C, which is too warm to cools down when it’s 40 degrees outside. The thermostat in the room is just for show. Also, regardless of whether your card is in the slot, it automatically shuts off after an hour. After 24hr a of complaining they finally sent a technician to override this auto shut off and it did eventually keep the room somewhat cool. Some of the renovated rooms look ok but we were in a super tiny older room. The shower door was missing one of the sliding door panes so water always splashed on the floor. They also make you leave your room key at the front desk which is annoying. Although the hotel is conveniently close to Termini station, the area around the hotel is kind of seedy. Do yourself a favour and pay a bit more to stay in a better hotel. This hotel sucks.
See other review from me. Property refused to lower AC below 26 degrees C. Does not meet North American standards for AC. Should not be able to list themselves as AC as they refuse to use it.
Be aware, AC is not what they say. Once there they refused to lower the AC below 26 degrees C. They offered another room but that wold not change anything because the AC is controled at the front desk. Unable to sleep because of hot room.It is not the north american standard of AC. Other hotels during my trip were fine for AC so this was how this hotel operates.
Room had AC not working and it was very hot in the room 26.5C. We had to wait about 45 minutes in the room to see if AC was working before going to the lobby, again, and get another room. We didn't appreciate the carpet in our room.
This was a lovely Italian hotel. The main bed was very comfortable, the pull out bed for our children was thin and quite uncomfortable. The breakfast was great. Staff were helpful. A good location, close to the Roma Termini station but far enough that the street was safe.
The 1st room that we got was nice but the a/c was not functioning. We ask to if they can change us to another room and the front desk lady say NO, that they have nothing available. We talk to the person that do the manteinance work in the hotel, he check the a/c and we were right, it was not functioning well. After this, he was the one that needed to talk in front desk and he tell them that we need to get another room because the a/c was not ok. They make a change but to a smaller room with a bed so hard and unconfortable that was not pleasant at all our stay.
It was nice! Breakfast was good.
Excellent location near Termini station and restaurants.
No parking
Over all a bad experience!
I had a number of issues with this hotel1) the hotel contacted me to let me know how there was a problem with the card. When I called they sent me back to hotels.com. Hotels.com couldn't help but offered to 3way call them to resolve it. The hotel got mad and hung up! 2) the toilet seat and shower doors were broken in our room. 3) when we got to the room it was HOT, they had the window open and no air on. Took forever to cool down. 4) The towels were stained with what I hop was rust. The only saving grace was the other front desk staff were very pleasant
A/C very bad, the property horrible, too old.
This is a very centric property with many restaurant options just on the same block. (I counted 13 restaurants in two blocks around!) Staff is super corteous and professional. Just an advice: If you book with Expedia, please make sure they were successful in charging the account before hand. We had a situation in which we had to wait and contact Expedia because they hadn't been able to charge the account. Still, I was able to checkin and the whole stay with uneventful. I recommend this property with the above warning.
Right by Roma termina which made getting to and from airport accessible. Friendly staff rooms were good size and cleaned daily. Only downside was no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms. But over all 10/10 would recommend.
Great central location to see Roma. Good breakfast and clean room. Staff was super helpful with recommendations and transportation.
AC turned on but didnt do anything. Bathroom very small but works. I dont like having to give my room card to front desk because then they have access to my room and bags. Although, people were very nice and helpful. Ill stay again.i wouldnt say it was the best area but it took some warming up to. Staff was even cleaning outside from people littering. I think this place was a good stay for 3 nights. Ill rate it 3.5 stars.
Rooms aren't what described on the website at time of reservation, this is a ripped off.
smelled awful, like mold. Could not breathe. All decor and items in room are extremely outdated, bed w as awful...we stayed about 30 min, till we could find another room at a different hotel. They also dont allow you to keep your room key with you when you go out, very odd. The courtyard area we had to go through to get to our room was terrible as well. Would NOT recommend this place. Unfortunately we got no refund, even though we told them we would not be staying.
The rooms tiny and dated - AC wasn’t working properly- dirty floors.
We were able to walk to the sites of our interest Good restaurants very close. Market very close. Train station very close. Staff amazing 👍👍👍
Garcia’s vacation
It was great, only a few yards away from the train station. It has everything you need. We Spend 2 days and it was a great experience. 👏👏
We walked to all the most famous places to visit in Rome, including the Vatican. Great location and near train station.
It was an overnight stay.
Great!
The renovated rooms are comfortable, clean, and spacious. The staff at reception are friendly and helpful.
Staff were not friendly and they made me pay cash upon check in and said they wouldn’t take my credit card and the same happened upon my second check in they asked for cash to pay the taxes and would not take a credit card. And the rooms AC didn’t look properly.
The place was in poor condition and staff was not very helpful Location is good you can walk to most attractions if you like 20-40 min walks
The bed was too hard and the AC was not cold enough.
The location was great. Five minutes walk to the Roma termini.
Pictures are deceiving
The hotel is very central to many places. However, the hotel has a tiny elevator that only goes to the fifth floor, and my room was on the sixth floor. The front desk personnel are not very friendly and not helpful at all. It is almost a batter to them when you ask for something. But overall it is an ok place to stay for a few days.
Highly recommend it
Rome stay at Contila
Room on top floor, elevator stops at 5th floor one level below. Had to carry luggage up one floor. Air conditioning comes on and off, had to adjust thermostat to keep it on. Our room also just outside elevator machine room makes noise at night. Better if you stay on lower floor and away from elevator. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Service was excellent.
The stay here was exactly what we were looking for. A very convenient 2 block walk from the Termini to hop on any train we needed and didn’t need to drag our luggage far. Within walking distance to the Colosseum and many restaurants. The bed was quite hard, felt more like a box spring, but the room itself served its purpose. A place to leave our stuff and sleep as we were out all day exploring the city. Staff were helpful and spoke English as well.
😊
Close to metro station and Toma Termini. Clean and basic.
Do not stay here! I stayed only one night but was charged for 3 nights. Refused to refund Extremely bad experience. Very small room with poor quality towels. Very bad quality breakfast. .
Do not stay here! I stayed one night and they charged me for three nights. Refused to refund the overcharge. Extremely dishonest management.
Fabio and Dey (at the front desk) were fantastic. The property is well located, less than 5 minutes walk from Temini station. Breakfast was good but expected more protein like eggs, sausages etc. Overall better than what qw expected after reading few negative comments. I recommend this property.
Location was very convenient to the train station and if you don’t mind walking about it is accessible to all the major sites in Rome. We did take the metro which is only couple blocks away to Vatican. Breakfast was well stocked and delicious. I would highly recommend. Only small downside was that the room was close to the elevator and since the construction is mainly concrete and tiles the noise travels. Didn’t bother us much thou…
Convenient
Convenient location. Next to railway station. Lots of good joints in the neighborhood.
Enjoyable stay, clean, quiet and convenient to Termini train station. Staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!
The breakfast was good and the location.
I do NOT recommend stating here! The hotel wants to upcharge you for every little thing. They offered to check us in early for a fee. They charged more in euros for the hotel tax than what they stated per day. The beds are awful. It was like sleeping on a box spring. I asked for a mattress pad and they laughed and said they would take care of it but did not. I asked again the next day with no results. On the 3rd day I asked for a couple of extra blankets and they wanted to charge me for them. There is black mold on the walls in the bathroom. The AC doesn't work 3 quarters of the time. The furniture in the lobby looks like it should be in the dumpster.
Absolutely adored the location. It was close to everything that we needed over the days that we were there. Loved having the coffee in the morning, but there's no coffee in the rooms, rooms are smaller than US size which should be expected. The showers and bathrooms were much smaller than expected, but that should also be expected when leaving the US. They were very clean, courteous and multiple people on property spoke English which helped. There is an elevator on site which helped a lot, but it only holds three people MAX. The elevator is very slow but reliable. While they do provide breakfast everyday, if you're used to US or variety, you will be disappointed in the pastries and pastries they serve for breakfast.
Lack of a standard shower. No ice!! Lack of modern air conditioning . Poor breakfast choices.
This room cost $415 a night the room was small, old furniture, the beds sink in middle, the bathroom shower was 2x2 feet, shower head you had to hold to take a shower, AC was hardly working and the key to the room you had to hand in ever time you left. No worth the money.
Staff were very nice and helpful
Aircon did not work, it was cooler outside than it was in the room. Multiple bugs in the room. Unsafe area but convenient for the termini
The hotel was a 5 minute walk to Termini station so a lot of shops and restaurants around. The room size was adequate. It contained a mini fridge, safe and a closet. The staff was very friendly. The one thing that really turned me off was the hotel uses a key and there is a 'trick' to opening the door. The housekeeper tried to explain (no English, just signs), then she got the maintenance guy who tried explaining (no english, just signs). Never got it, thank God my son was with me or else I would never have gotten into the room. I don't think I should be figuring out how to open a door. Really annoyed me. Otherwise, everything was fine.
Bad a/c and guest noise was terrible
very good and price appropriate
Nice stay
Good choice for the night. Close to the terminus and good restaurants nearby
Decent and close to train station. Horrible AC
The hotel is in a convenient location close to the train station. Breakfast included was a basic European breakfast. Air conditioning was horrible. They crammed 4 adults into a tiny room. when we complained about the AC, they moved us into another bigger room, although the bigger space was appreciated the air condition functioned the same. Average hotel that is overpriced.
Very friendly & helpful staff. Small rooms but air conditioned & clean. Great breakfast. Excellent restaurant options close by. Very close to Termimi Station (exit to the left of the station). Very close to beautiful Basilica Santa Maria Magiore.
Beautiful facility. Barbara who I think is the caretaker of this bed and breakfast is super nice, very accommodating and very helpful.
The room needed maintenance
The gentleman that checked us in was very friendly and kind. Then we went to our room. We never were able to get the air conditioner to cool the room down. It was on the hot side the entire night. The floor was dirty. Dust bunnies around the furniture. The sink was leaking from the drain causing water to leak on the floor. The shower and curtain was moldy. The shower curtain didn't stretch across the entire length of the stall. There was tape on the bathroom door frame since it was broken. The curtains didn't shut right. The towels had holes, were tattered and stained. The walls were dirty. On the way out I told the staff about the issues with the room. They were apologetic, but that was it.
I stay at this hotel recently and it was OK. The staff was very nice and super accommodating to late night arrivals. This is indeed a 3-star hotel. The hotel is in good spot, very close to the train station but the location is kind of dirty. The hotel is kind of dated and definitely due for some renovations. Overall, it’s not a bad place to stay for a night or two but nothing more than that. Definitely get what you pay for.
Unfortunately, on the first day, the door in the bathroom had come off and happen to fell on my wife. Sink wouldn’t drain the water fully. In hot and humid weather, air conditioning was the slowest. I think it has the potential to make a great hotel, they just need to pay more attention towards the room and be more welcoming of the guests.
Enjoyed the stay in Rome
This property was very dirty and old. The area was very unsafe and scary.
The single room was as small as a cupboard. After 1/2 hour negotiating, the manager gave me another room. But not a good start of a 4 days holidays
Convenient to Roma Termini and many restaurants. Breakfast was good and a time saver in the morning. I would recommend this property primarily because it was similarly priced to other hotels in the vicinity that didn't offer breakfast. The dining room has plentiful seating. We were always able to find seating.
