room wasn't so pleasant to be with kids, too much steps, dark
This property is very well located, close to the Colosseum and some other points of interest.
Awesome front desk staff. Incredibly kind and helpful. Great location. Even though it’s an older hotel tucked away 12 min from the Colessum, the rooms are spotless, and beds are comfortable. It met our last minute needs. Loved it!
Hotel was clean, staff was friendly, breakfast was filling, area dining was great, view from roof priceless.
Charming hotel
Nice, boutique hotel. Very helpful staff. Rooms were comfy. Nice bathroom. Great breakfast. Walking distance to many sites. Wonderful roof top bar
Rome for 3 nights
Hotel is conveniently located. Staff was very helpful. Room was on the smaller side, but beds were comfortable. Very good breakfast. Great view from the rooftop bar. Quiet neighborhood.
Nice hotel, 10 minutes to te Colosseum.
The staff was amazing, especially Tomas - he was very helpful, knowledgeable and very professional. We were also able to store our luggage which allowed us to spend time sightseeing in Rome in our limited time there.
Hotel Colosseum was a great place to stay during our first trip to Rome. It was conveniently located near the train station, tourist hotspots, and plenty of good restaurants and the view from the rooftop bar was beautiful. The staff was really friendly when we needed help with directions, transportation, recommendations, etc. We would definitely stay here again.
The property was ok, the breakfast was good. The ac unit was extremely loud and didn't work well. Don't expect to leave your electronics to charge in the room while you're gone, you're required to hand over your room key when going out of the hotel and the room key turns the electricity on for your room.
Perfect place to stay. The people that work there were all very friendly and willing to help in any way.
The deal-breaker for me was that I was asked to turn in my hotel room key every time I left, and the key would be left behind the counter, and given to me at the front desk. This made me feel like I was being monitored, and on one occasion I was given the wrong room key - which scared me to think, how easily the wrong key can be given out (due to a mix-up, natural human error) but I no longer felt safe leaving the hotel, knowing anybody could end up with access to my room and belongings. To add, the location isn't great, on a mostly residential-looking street, and it's a couple blocks away to find more livelihood, restaurants, and bars. For the price you can find much better accommodations in Rome.
Just returned from our stay. Not your typical hotel suite...but met all my families needs. We stayed in Room 10...the little 'courtyard' was a welcome relaxing spot to share a glass at the end of a day exploring. The rooftop courtyard was amazing at sunset as well.
The afternoon/night manager (named Tomasso) was incredible!!! So informative, knowledgeable about Rome, and amazingly helpful. All of them were, but Tomasso stands out for making sure our stay was perfect and safe in every way. Can't say enough good things about him. The room was not tiny but a little on the small size, but that is status qup for many European hotels I guess. Would definitely stay there again.
Great location. Super friendly staff. Will stay again.
Loved it all!!!
The hotel staff were wonderful and the hotel was clean.
Staff was excellent. They were very gracious and attentive!
Very small rooms, small beds and tiny shower. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good as well.
I love the location and the staff. Breakfast was great and so much to choose from.Hotel is also very clean and bed comfortable.
The location and the staff are the highlights of this property
Stayed one night prior to a cruise. Very close to Sta Maria Maggiore Basilica and close to Hop on off Busses. Room very clean with all necessary amenities. Great water pressure in the shower. Thanks Hotel colosseum for all recommendations!
We will return. Great roof top for cocktails
The room was small.
Perfectly located near all attractions clean, staff very friendly and helpful, good breakfast, rooftop sunset drop dead gorgeous, pretty good mojitos on the rooftop bar.
The rooms were old and needed maintenance.
Located in a convenient area close to restaurants and many attractions within walking distance. Hotel staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was excellent.
It is a nice hotel within walking distance to many areas. The staff is very friendly, and the breakfast was great. The only thing I didn't like was walking back to the hotel at night.
Amazing staff, spacious room and rooftop bar was a highlight.
Hotel is on a side street. Long walk to places of interest. Room was ok few outlets. Breakfast was nice. Staff were helpful. Elevato very small
This hotel was fine. It was clean and quiet and had air conditioning. The location is good, the staff is friendly and the included breakfast is okay. They have an elevator, but there are a number of steps you have to go down to get to the elevator, so if that's a challenge for you, you should be aware of it. They provided a shower cap, which was helpful, as well as bath gel, which smelled nice. There was no refrigerator. There is a lounge on the roof, which I heard is very nice, but I was out all day and didn't check it out. This hotel is nice, perfectly adequate, but I probably would not stay there again.
Friendly helpful staff and courteous in all their interactions. The hotel is convenient to Coliseum but the actual street gives you a feeling of. Ring seedy. We were only there 2 night in a quad and it worked well for our purpose. I would recommend for location and convenience
I would NOT recommend this hotel. The reviews were super misleading. This felt more like a dorm room or a hostel than a 3-star hotel. If you are looking for absolute basics, this works, but don't expect anything even close to a nice experience. Was not a nice experience at all. The room itself was tiny, and the beds were like cots - uncomfortable and super small. Just sheets on the beds, no blanket. We had booked a double room, but upon arriving were shown a room with two twin beds separated by a space. I was traveling with my partner so this was not ideal. The room was not big either, just enough for us to lay our suitcases down and have space to walk to the bathroom. I asked reception if they had another room with a full bed rather than two twims, and they led me to one with one double bed so that was good, but the room itself was a lot smaller (cramped even) and the layout was really weird. Because of the room size, we opted to stay with our original room (which I mentioned was also really small) and tried to spend as much time away from our room as possible. I don't understand this place having good reviews, felt like I got catfished. I would avoid this at all costs!
Felt very safe.
Staff were so helpful. Breakfast was spot on, good selection and beautifully cooked. Roof terrace was a joy in the evening.
Beautiful hotel/room, a classic,very helpful staff
Great hotel overall/outstanding staff-always informative and helpful in every way.
We had a lovely stay thank you!
Happy travelers
We had such a great stay and would do so again. Tomasso was incredibly helpful and next time we’re hiring him as our tour guide for the day.
Very good stay
First of all, the location is excellent- transport connections are great as its only ten minutes walk from termini station, & close to major attractions- the Colosseum is only 1.1km away. Staff were friendly & helpful throughout our stay. The rooftop bar (open evenings only) offers great views over the city. The hotel, including our room, was clean & tidy, Our room was serviced daily. Towels were changed every day, & it was good to have a tea/coffee tray in a continental hotel. The room air conditioning & automatic window shutter were easy to use & very effective. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were far too firm. We found the shower tray was very slippy when wet. Breakfast was included & there was plentiful supplies of pretty average fare. Overall a very good stay & I would recommend the hotel with the above demerit points.
Ok for short stay.
Rooms and the showers were small. Breakfast was outstanding and evenings on the roof bar were fun. Service provided by the check in personnel was exceptional during our stay.
Dated interior. You could hear everything going on in the adjacent rooms including the tv till 1AM.
5 star welcome and service. Tidy room with everything we needed
Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
The beds were quite uncomfortable. You could here other guests through the walls. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful especially the bartender on the rooftop!
Beds aren’t super comfortable. Definitely needs to be renovated. Thought the breakfast was really good. The service at the front desk is amazing and roof top bar is really nice. Great location as well
Very friendly and helpful staff
Staff were wonnderful, breakfast was good and everywhere was clean.
Property is very clean and stuff is friendly and helpful
3.5/5
Staff very friendly, breakfast was ok but quite noisy at night (other guests) due to thin walls
Great friendly, helpful staff. Clean comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast buffet. Walking distance to Colosseum etc. great restaurants everywhere. Right on the tour bus routes. Any questions ask Thomas on the front desk he is a mine of information. 10/10 for everything 👍
A pleasant stay
The hotel is in a quiet area within easy walking distance of Termini station (tip – use Via Manin and Via Paolina coming from the station to avoid a steep hill or steps). Our room was very clean and quite comfortable – good sized bed and a nice shower – although the TV was very small (not an issue for us). There was a good choice of hot and cold items at breakfast which was regularly topped up. Staff were generally friendly and very helpful (to the point where we had to wait for 10-15 minutes to check in because the receptionist was giving a detailed explanation of booking the Vatican to some other guests !) and overall our stay was fine. There is no restaurant in the hotel but there are quite a few restaurants of varying quality within a few minutes walk across Via Cavour.
The gentlemen at the front desk were exceptionally helpful and kind and accommodating. Great place to stay. Wonderful breakfast. Nice roof top for drinks and seeing sunset. I give it 5 stars or more!!!
Ok
The people here were so friendly. The best part was the location plus the rooftop bar is not to be missed!
Great location
Great location, excellent breakfast and very central location. Our second sentry and we will do so again if back in Rome.
Great place to stay
Excellent service.
I had a wonderful stay, the staff here at the hotel are amazing, you are close to most of the major attractions as well. They even gave me a free drink at the bar for my birthday, which was totally unexpected. Be sure to go to the rooftop bar, you have a great view of Rome up there. Will definitely stay here next time I am in Rome!!!
Conveniently situated hotel only 10 minutes walk from the railway and underground station. Friendly staff, good breakfasts (including scrambled eggs and bacon) and rooms are of an optimum size with plenty of hot running water, comfortable beds and cleaned to a high standard daily. Would recommend for a city break.
Great hotel
We enjoyed our stay. It’s convenient location with walkable distance to Roman forum. Staff is super friendly and helpful
Just a block away from Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore, Hotel Colosseum is a great place to stay if you want to be near the Colosseum and other tourist spots nearby without having to stay in Roma Termini, that's become a really murky and filthy area during the night. Since we went during winter and it gets dark around at 5pm, the area where Hotel Colosseum is located is bright and brimming with dining options since it's also a block away from Via Cavour. We had a couple of restaurants recommended by the staff that were really good and cheap. The hotel is in good conditions and even has bar in the lobby and rooftop that can be used during warmer seasons. The room, although a bit vintage, was comfortable enough to two. The staff were really nice and helpful with us, and the breakfast they serve is very abundant. If you are looking for a nice and conveniently located hotel near the colosseum, this is a good place to be. It was a really good experience we had for the price we paid. I would definitely consider coming back if we were back in Rome.
I loved the reception that we got from Tomas when we checked in. He was very accomodating, pleasant and very helpful. All of the staff that we encountered were very professional, friendly, and were willing to help out with whatever we need. All of the main attractions are walkable from the hotel with lots of restaurants and shopping places along the way. We felt safe and the place is quiet. The hotel also has a great selection for breakfast and a very good cappuccino. Last but not the least, the hotel has a rooftop terrace with a beautiful view where you can take pictures and watch the sunset. Overall, our experience with this hotel as a family was great and will be back when we get a chance to come back to this beautiful country. Gracie and Che Dio vi benedica🙏❤️!
Great staff and service. Thomas at the front desk was very helpful and nice
It is a small hotel, but very cozy. There is a very good staff, cleaning and breakfast. Roof top view is excellent. Very recommend. Thanks
Excellent
Had an amazing trip in Rome. The hotel is top notch. Service was excellent. They go over and beyond for their guests. Definitely recommend this hotel. Breakfast was great. Location was great.
The staff was so friendly and so accommodating. The rooftop was absolutely stunning.
Great location, short walk to Colosseum and train station. Lots of nice restaurants nearby. The Hotel breakfast was very good snd the staff was helpful and friendly. The rooftop deck/bar really made the Hotel standout.
Grazie!! A wonderful, stress-free stay.
The staff was amazing!! Our rooms were available earlier than the check-in time, which was a blessing. We were able to drop off our bags, refresh and see the city without lugging our bags around town. Upon arrival, the kind gentleman in the reception provided us a map of Rome and explained some of the tourist areas nearby. He even helped us arrange for a cab to take us to Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport on our last day. Such a stress-free stay; we were very at ease and felt taken care of throughout our stay. -- We were 4 people (two couples). The room we had was the 4 single beds, with 2 bathrooms. Like a lot of buildings in Italy, the room itself was quite old. However, the bathrooms seemed to be modern and updated. Room could come better equipped with mugs (or paper cups, less environmentally friendly..) The free continental breakfast was a pleasant surprise! More variety than what we thought-- pastries, toast, fruit selection, yogurt, bacon, eggs, cheese, juices, coffee, tea, digestive cookies, crackers, etc. A bit of everything! Great start to the day, fuel your energy for a fabulous time in the Eternal City. Rain or shine, we enjoyed every moment! Don't forget to check out the rooftop terrasse. The view of the city is just lovely, and we were lucky to view the sunset from there on both nights of our stay.
Fabulous service and accommodations!
Nice friendly and helpful staff. Great roof top bar with excellent views.
Great central place to stay! Breakfast was great, stuff was lovely. Would definitely recommend!
Flight was cancelled and was very lucky they had a room available. They were the much needed hug after some bad news from air carrier. We got in before check-in time and they immediately took care of our bags and gave us a quick rundown of the hotel. Check-in was smooth, mattresses firm, water pressure great, aircon worked. Love the extra duvet and pillows in the room. Breakfast was a welcome bonus, the spread is top notch and the staff kept everything stocked and were very attentive to all the guests. Rooftop patio was beautiful, be sure to make time to see at least one Roman sunset :)
Cozy, clean rooms and bathrooms. Excellent breakfast options. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. If you are looking for comfort and Italian hospitality, this is a great choice. About a 12 minute walk to the Colosseum. Close to Via Cavour and Via Urbana, both of which have multiple dining options.
Great location, wonderful staff—Tomasso was my favorite! Great breakfast, beautiful view from rooftop bar—rooms very comfortable!!!!
Fantastic and friendly service! The rooms were very clean and the bed was so comfortable. There blackout shutters were amazing! I would recommend this hotel very highly! Great location
The front desk is best described as frustrating/annoying. They have an entire lecture on navigating Rome as if you do not have maps on your phone. While it could be welcome and helpful to some, I tried to explain we didn’t need the info but he insisted on continuing. They have an annoying policy of requiring you to turn in your room key whenever you leave the hotel which is super inconvenient especially when you come back and have to wait in line to get the key back. The bed was rock hard and bedding was cheap and ratty. All decor and furniture are worn out, outdated wood.
The manager was very nice. I think the property could use some upgrades. Very outdated.
Helpful staff, good breakfast
The night manager who completed my check-in and check-out is one of the nicest people I met in Italy. My room was small and clean with excellent facilities-- the perfect little base camp for exploring Rome. The location of the hotel is unbeatable. Beautiful views from upstairs terrace and nice breakfast buffet downstairs. I look forward to returning as soon as I can.
Hotel Colosseum was about a 15 min walk from the train station. Don’t follow Apple Maps which take you up the stairs. Turn left after the tower then your first right I believe. There is a Nasoni on the wall when you make the right turn, if you need to fill your water bottle. The hotel is clean and the staff is nice and helpful. The breakfast has a good variety. Walkable to the Colosseum. If your going to the city center you will need a cab.
Great location, superb reception staff (all of them) - especially given I had delayed luggage for two days. Clean and functional, and good air conditioning which was a must as I was there during the "heat from hell". Nice breakfast. Good rooftop bar to end the day.
Excellent staff and went above and beyond to make us feel at home
Good air conditioning!!! Very helpful service for tourists at concierge desk. Good price. Very happy.
The Colosseum is not a smart fancy hotel but very functionable, in a good area. They provide clean rooms, a good breakfast, the wonderful staff make it first class, they are so friendly and helpful they make our staff a wonderful experience.
Roof top, friendly and helpful staff
Great location
Service and staff were fantastic. Everyone there especially Thomas was incredibly helpful. Rooftop bar is a great place for a nightcap. Fantastic views. Excellent location to walk to sites to see
The staff were excellent. Very helpful. The breakfast selection was also very good. The Colosseum was only a 6 min walk from the hotel so the location was extremely good. The only thing we didn't like was the room. The shower was unusable because it was in the bathtub with a plexy glass that you swing over when you turn the shower on while standing in the tub. The balcony was unusable as they had 4 or 5 old air conditioners stored on it. So for the price we paid, it was too expensive given the poor room.
This is an excellent option for a couple days in Roma. It is very conveniently located 5 or 6 blocks from the train station and only 4-5 blocks from the heart of the Monti neighborhood dinning scene. Yet, it is just far enough away from the action to be very quiet at night for RomeThe staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic, clean and functional. The shower is a bit roomer than the usual Italian standard. The roof top bar has nice views. I would definitely stay here again.
The front desk staff make this convenient location hotel a place to stay when in Rome. Walkable to pretty much everything!
Great location
it is good place, staff is very helpful. The hotel is a little bit old but good
The hotel was great clean and the staff was amazing mostly interested in my well being and there to help with everything I needed help with with was outstanding considering I was so far away from home
Pretty good place in Rome
The hotel is on a quiet street well located to some sites. The hotel is smaller and older but in good condition and well maintained. The rooftop terrace is a nice place to get an evening drink and see the sunset. The front desk person in the evening was a nice man who was very helpful with restaurant suggestions. The bed was not so great in my opinion. It was too firm for my taste.
Wonderful staff and very convenient location.
The staff was so friendly and helpful. Great recommendations!
A perfect location for a city break
We had a fantastic stay at The Hotel Colosseum. The location was perfect for exploring Rome. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was lovely - it was very clean, very comfortable and had a lovely view of Rome from the window. The view from the rooftop terrace, spectacular! The self service breakfast was delicious- there was a very good range of food and drink and the staff made sure it was all kept topped up. Despite it being buffet style, there were always friendly staff on hand to help out. We thoroughly recommend this hotel for a stay in Rome. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay so enjoyable.
Staff at Hotel Collosseum was great, specially Tomassino and Deborah. The room was very comftortable, the bathroom was very nice, and the views amazing. The breakfast buffet was excellent. I would definitely stay there again and recomend it to my friends and family.
Comfortable hotel that enhanced our holiday.
The hotel was perfect for our needs. Good location on quiet street, wonderful staff, great breakfast, and nice rooftop garden with excellent views of Rome!

Really only good things to say about this hotel. Location, cleanliness, value for money, staff—were all excellent. Thanks to Deborah and the breakfast staff, and Leonard.
