Great choice

Christina at check in went above and beyond what I expect at a hotel check in. She gave lots of good advice. My room was very quiet and comfortable. The location is central, with several choices of restaurants within 200 metres. The hotel is located in the old part of town but I felt safe walking around at night. I will stay here on my return trips to Funchal.

Very client-oriented and efficient personnel. Nice and comfortable room with a great view. Excellent healthy breakfast and great location. I highly recommend Hôtel Caju.

This hotel is modern, clean, comfortable and the staff were really nice. It's in a very convenient place for restaurants and the cable car. The restaurant is great and it's a shame they don't do dinner as the food is very good.

I absolutely loved the experience in the hotel, very nice staff, hotel provides with all the basics you could think off. Perfect location, I will be definitely coming back.

Well I can’t really write this review for the hotel itself. When we arrived, we were informed that they had overbooked, but that they booked us a nice hotel room at hotel The Vine, which was a five minute walk away. The Vine and Caju are owned by the same company and provide what I assume are similar experiences. Our stay was amazing!

What a great little boutique hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked great. Breakfast was very nice. The area the hotel is in is centrally located. Staff was terrific and helped us book a hiking tour.

Friendly and welcoming staff at hotel reception but somewhat rude at the hotel restaurant. We stayed over the weekend and it was really noisy at night because of the restaurants around and loud hotel guests. The gym is tiny and in the basement, next to the restaurant bathrooms; it turned me down to use it. Getting in and out of the parking is a hurdle since you have to get the access code to the garage elevator from the Vine hotel. Overall, it is an instagrammable hotel but not one I will return in my next trip to Funchal.

This was my Mom and I’s first time visiting Madeira and it was a very enjoyable! The room was aesthetically nice and had all the amenities that we needed. The hotel was walking distance to nearby restaurants, stores, local market and main attractions. The breakfast that was provided was amazing had lots of options to choose from. Unfortunately we were not able to sit and enjoy our breakfast the first day, but Marco was able to accommodate breakfast to-go which was much appreciated. Since the hotel is located in the heart of the city, parking was not in the same facility but was a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Overall an enjoyable stay, would definitely booked again!

Our stay in Hotel Caju was fantastic. A really lovely small hotel centrally located in Funchal. Easy walking to all the main places of interest. Great facilities, lovely room, amazing breakfast included and fantastic friendly and helpful staff throughout. The restaurant a healthy and delightful menu throughout the day till early evening. We cant praise this hotel enough and will definitely return!!

Amazing location and property in central location

Incredible stay! We really enjoyed the location of the hotel as everything is walkable in Funchal. The rooms are very well equipped and clean. It gives off a very chic and boutique feel. The breakfast inclusion is also great. If anyone is visiting Madeira and wants to make Funchal their home base, I could not recommend a better spot. I’m a Titanium Bonvoy and felt equal customer service here as any Marriott property.

One of the best location in Madeira, everything in walking distance. The Hotel has modern amenities with keeping the old charms. Breakfast is very good. I highly recommend we definitely will come back.

Everything is brand new and hotel was just remodeled. Efficient, friendly, and knowledgeably staff. Short walking distance to everywhere in town. With this hotel you will not be disappointed; easily a 10 out of 10 rating.

A very nice boutique hotel. convenient to restaurants and shopping. Very safe area and walkable. Great breakfast and lunch! Not many other amenities, however we were not in hotel that much. The best is their staff. Friendly, smiling and very helpful with dinner suggestion, sightseeing and tours.

Fantastic hotel, good location

This hotel feels new, modern, and clean. Rooms are impeccable and breakfast is a welcome change from typical hotel breakfasts. Hotel is 5 mins walk to Funchal waterfront. Parking is about 5 mins walk away, if you don't park on the street.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was perfect and the location couldn’t have been better. Highly recommend this hotel.

Fabulous hotel, great location. The room was very spacious for a European hotel, my room had a balcony that was lovely to stand out on and look down the lovely street. The breakfast was fantastic, recommend the pancake with fruit. The service was outstanding. Laura on reception was so helpful in giving us great tips of where to walk, eat and what to see. Highly recommend this hotel. Lots of great restaurants around as well as their own.

Modern and clean, great location. Small hotel with only around 20 or so rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful, not sure if it if family run, but it had that sort of feeling. The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch but the food quality is excellent. Very fresh ingredients and healthy options. Booking in is a must though even for guests, it’s very popular but small and open to non-guests, so fills up quickly. For the evening there are lots of good restaurants nearby (the hotel does some snacks via room service but we didn’t try them). It is a short walk straight down the hill to the start point of the various hop on hop off tour buses, which is really convenient. Also there is the marina where you can take the dolphin and whale watching tours. Can’t fault the location. We pre-booked transfers to and from the airport (€24 each way) which was really convenient and efficient. This was not via the hotel, however they did offer us a transfer service but it was €35 each way, so we just went with a 3rd party company and it was fine. The room itself whilst clean and modern was not entirely to my taste, in that the wardrobe area is “open” so all your clothes are always on display just making the place look untidy. On the plus side, the room has an iron and board, along with a decent sized fridge for keeping your drinks cold, and tea/coffee making facilities. It also has a nice little balcony terrace to sit out on a warm evening with a glass of wine.

The location was outstanding right in the centre with walking access to atrractions and dinning. The sfaff were friendly and attentive. The rooms were comfortable. The breakfast is delicious and beyong just continental. Highly recommend.

Hotel Caju is located in the heart of old town Funchal. It is a small property, well maintained, clean and modern design. The hotels vibe is healthy and eco friendly.

We were especially happy with the location in the center of Funchal, as we did not want to stay in larger hotels in the main beach and tourist areas out of the center. The room wasn't particularly large, but the bed was comfortable and external noise was minimal. One highlight of our 'attic' room was the intriguingly designed bathroom with a huge shower area. The staff was uniformly pleasant and helpful. Two things to keep in mind is that the parking at or near the hotel is impossible; instead, the option from the hotel is to park at a sister property about am 8-minute walk away (for 10 euros a day). The only other slightly negative thing was that breakfast was a la carte and I think that a buffet for basics such as fruit and bread might have been more efficient for both guests and the hotel itself.

Located in a quiet but central location in Funchal good for local bars and restaurants and the waterfront. Staff were very pleasant, friendly and happy to offer advice on local restaurants and attractions

Great location close to many restaurants and all the attractions in the centre of Funchal. Modern and cozy room albeit on the small side but standard for Europe. The breakfast is AMAZING and the staff very polite and efficient. Would definately return on my next stay in Madeira.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, fantastic location and well designed rooms (apart from the hanging lights by the bed which we frequently hit our heads on as they are too low!). Superb breakfast. Would readily return to this hotel if visiting Funchal again. Highly recommended.

Lovely hotel located quite central with lots of bars, restaurants and cafes around. The staff were all super friendly and the breakfast was really tasty. The room and hotel overall were very clean and the bed was comfortable. Would stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone!

I’ll be back

I booked the smallest room (and it was) but it was really comfortable with a lovely queen bed; nice sheets; nice bathroom amenities and even quite a large terrace. Super breakfast and many of the staff new my name which was nice.

Had a fantastic stay here. The hotel is perfect for exploring the area - there are restaurants, wine bars, and shops all within 5 minutes walk. The room was really comfortable, and the breakfast was always delicious. I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel Caju location is convenient to visit Madeira, right in the centre of Funchal. It is located at the corner of a pedestrian street. I really liked the feel of the hotel. I liked my first room with a huge mirror. I can be a bit noisy, hearing the cars and walkers at night, also walls are thin you can hear your neighbours slightly. On my second night, while heavy rain was pouring, I noticed a leak coming from the ceiling. I notified the receptionist who took immediate action. I had to move to another room (a smaller one but it was for one night only, not a big deal). Breakfast is served at the table, you can choose from the menu. It is divine. The staff is lovely, the location is great, breakfast is tasty. I would likely come back for another stay in Madeira.

This is a very modern, clean, well appointed hotel behind a traditional facade in the old town. Great as a base for an exploring holiday, the location is very central and convenient for Funchal's attractions. Excellent sound insulation - although located on a busy pedestrian street with lots of bars and restaurants, all noise was blocked out as soon as the windows were closed. There is no pool or evening bar so if you're looking to lounge around the pool with a cocktail, this isn't the place for you!

The staff were excellent and v helpful.the hotel was in a fantastic position - near really good places to eat and a short walk to centre of Funchal. Tea /coffee replenishment each day would have been appreciated. Loved the decor and healthy breakfasts/ a really great find

One of the best hotels to say in Caju. Service, food quality, room cleanliness and condition is top notch. Especially, Laura (Front Office) is exceptional as she had made sure that our stay was as comfortable as possible.

Brilliant hotel

Qe stayed 7 nights in Hotel Caju and it was fantastic! We were given a room upgrade as the room we had booked was not available, always welcome! The room was spacious and immaculate, the bed was ridiculously comfortable too. Breakfast was included with a great selection on offer. The hotel is well located with everything in Funchal being within a comfortable walk, but not right in the bustle of the main touristy bits which was perfect for us. The best thing was the staff, everyone was so friendly and helpful which was good being first time visitors to Madeira.

It’s a new boutique hotel in the heart of Funchal, steps away from the marina and the Blandy’s wine lodge. The property is super clean and delicious healthy breakfast included. All the concierge staff were extremely helpful. We had a baggage delay and they offered to call the airport to track it down for us. Visitors to Madeira is also entitled to a free PCR test (required for re-entry into Canada). We did not receive appointments that we were supposed to through the MadeiraSafe app. Laura spent hours trying to phone the hospital to secure appointments for us and that saved us over 200 euros trying to book private tests on our own. We were extremely satisfied with this hotel and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit Madeira.
