Super nice management, very helpful with any requests. About a 25 minute walk from train station. Great breakfast included. Stairs only three flights, no big whoop.
The hotel is in a great location just down the street from the main square. It is in an older building - the pictures on the site accurately depict what it looks like. The rooms are large and clean. The staff is lovely, and the breakfast is a nice perk. The front desk is open 24/7 which makes coming and going super easy. Very close to all the main sights in Catania.
The shower and toilet with the water noise was very disturbing
Beautiful huge room with multiple beds! Staff all very helpful. The location was great only 5 min walk into the centre Only down side was the 70 stairs from ground level to reception. There is no lift Thank you for a great stay
Good location
Room was clean great AC. Front desk guy Oscar was awesome very helpful. Good location a short walk to attractions.
Friendly staff, huge cavernous rooms and the breakfast communal area on the rooftop is divine.
The location of this hotel is excellent. Great staff! We enjoyed our stay here.
Great choice
Super helpful and nice staff. Oscar was awesome - at the front desk, helping with the car and being available. Nice breakfast. Huge room. Walkable to almost everywhere. Small shops for backery and deli goods right on the msin street. Bus to the airport almost at your doorstep.
A bar just downstairs and so noisy even at 2am. Try to avoid unless you are someone wanna party all night long. And prepare to bring your luggage up to third floor.
Hotel stay
Checked in to hotel which was kinda hard to find, since its entrance was down a side street. Have to find the hotels name on the buzz in and the let you through the big wooden doors. Nice inside the courtyard you have to follow the signs to get to the front desk up three flights of stair. (No lift available) checking in was easy and the room was very nice with really cool architecture on the ceiling! Breakfast was great and free so that was a plus. Bad part no late check out past 11am. So up and out. Overall it was a nice place to stay.
Lots of pros, a few cons
No worries re cleanliness, or friendliness of staff. Julia and Oscar particularly worthy of mention. Breakfast is truly amazing. Variety and quality superb. It’s not easy to access (not well shown once you get there), and the stairs are a real killer. Our room was ok but very unpreposessing. Short walk to Via Etnaea and several reswtaurants. Also very cdonvenient for the airport bus stop (60 paces!)
68 steps
very friendly and helpful staff. Big room. Uncomfortable bed. Fairly easy to find. 10 minute walk from the station.Airport bus picks up across the road. Close to shops, eateries and attractions. 68 stairs from the street to reception and no lifts. Entrance is behind a locked (after hours) external street door and we never found out how to enter the hotel out of hours, we simply didnt go out at night. Staff had limited English
Friendly Place to stay in Catania
The hotel is located near the downtown. The Room was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious with a lot of different meals. The reception is 24 hours available. Definitely, a good place to stay in Catania.
The room was very large, with high ceilings which made the space lovely.
Wonderful
Wonderful stay. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff. Very close to the main square and all the main attractions. Very good breakfast! We had a great time!
Lovely Central Hotel
The hotel was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Just be aware, although the hotel says it has a bar, it doesn't, there is a fridge in the foyer where you can grab a soft drink and pay at the desk, but this is it. I also think you can get coffees from there, but each time I asked,I was told the bar was closed! Overall, the hotel was lovely and the breakfasts were amazing. Would definitely return to this hotel.
Convenient location
Very good location, with a good breakfast on terrace with amazing view of Catania. Rooms are serviceable, without much character and showing their age. Small bathroom.
The hotel crew was so kind and attentive. Breakfast was Amaizing, best I've had. The room are huge and have many features that are worth to see. At city center, very accessible and convenient.
good hotel in center and very nice staff thankyou
very good hotel nice staff and very helpfull
Great breakfast location
Hotel well located but missing a few key items eg coffee making in room fridge in room .Also 4 flights of stairs up to reception. But breakfast location brilliant
Nice staff but no elevator
The hotel is ok and the staff very nice and accommodating but it is a four floor walk up with bags to get up to the hotel level of the building. There is private parking which you need in Catania. If they only had an elevator all would have been fine.
The hotel was close to the city centre, restaurants and markets.
Great!!!
Great service and the staff was amazing!!! Location was espectacular. They helped us get our reservation for Mt Etna and got us our taxi when we needed it. 20 out of 10 stars!!!!
Very Convenient Location
The front desk helped me find a lovely restaurant. There was street parking nearby, but a shop owner also nearby warned me that there are a lot of car break ins at night. Perhaps opt for the parking garage. It was cool staying in an old building. A/C worked. Shower could have been better. These are the caveats of being in a cool old building. Walk-up is no joke, this is only for people that can comfortable handle 4 flights of stairs.
Great hotel in great location
Great location, fabulous rooftop breakfast with amazing views over the city. Hosts were very helpful
Very close to everything.
Felt very welcome.Beautiful breakfast on the balcony.
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Catania
This hotel is lovely with high ceilings and comfy beds. The bathroom is pretty old and in desperate need of an update. The showers are very small. Obese people would not be able to fit in them. Breakfast was delicious and served on their lovely rooftop. Hotel is close to airport and all tourist attractions (walking distance). Highly recommend this place!
Brian and Ewa
We were only five hours in the Hotel so cant really offer too much information as we arrived and left in the dark. The on shift manager was very helpful and got us checked in and settled very quickly. The room was basic and had an exterior private bathroom. The manager arranged for an early cab for us and helped get us on our way.
Very convenient for city centre
Very clean and quirky hotel. Excellent value for money and excellent breakfast.
Good. Just not sure why we had to leave passports at the desk and pick them up 15 minutes later. Nice breakfast on pleasant roof terrace.
Nice hotel in city center
The hotel is located in an older building in the very center of the city. The rooms are well maintained and the staff is kind. Breakfast on the roof of the building is a fantastic experience.
We were greeted and asked for our passports and told that we would not get them back for a time because they needed them to register them. I waited for the amount of time at check-in so that I could obtain my passport back. We also were surprised that we needed to leave our key at the desk and could not take it off premises. It was just such a change from the other accommodations that we had stayed at on our holiday.
Nice Staff, Clean and Spacious
This hotel is walking distance from all major sights. It is hard to spot at first since their sign is quite small. Front desk staff was nice. He came downstairs and helped carry one of our luggage’s and showed us where the dining facilities were. We stayed 1 night in the quadruple room. It was spacious with 2 small balconies and very high ceiling. The bathroom was nice sized and very clean. Beds were quite comfortable. Breakfast was decent. Outdoor seating was available but it was cold in the morning so we sat inside. It was cosy and the tables were small but the service was good. Overall good experience. Will stay at again if we come back to Catania.
Value for money
This hotel is great value for money. There are no coffee/tea facilities, but with an espresso at € .50 at the numerous local establishments, who needs it? Staff were very friendly and breakfast was fresh and local. One warning is that the hotel is on 2nd Floor with no lift. Not a problem for those able, but wouldn’t recommend to my mother for that reason alone. Room itself was huge with nice view and breakfast was served outside on a rooftop terrace with an equally impressive view. I would certainly stay here again.
Great no frills hotel in excellent location
Don’t be put off with the look of the outside of the hotel. Inside is in well presented, clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are serviced every day and couldn’t be faulted. Breakfast is good and served until 11am. The location is perfect, close to the train and bus station. Not suitable for anyone with mobility problems, there are four or five flights of stairs.
Fantastic service. Would stay here again.
Traveling with 3 young children and a lot of luggage, I was a little weary with this hotel being located on the third floor. It was not an issue at all as Oscar was very quick to help us carry everything up. We arrived quite early and our room was not ready so Oscar escorted us to the terrace where he made us some caffe and we had a relaxing breakfast. The room was clean and the air conditioning was great. The hotel arranged a transfer for us to get to the airport. The location relative to the sites was also great. We called it an early night due to an early flight the next day so I can't comment on what things were like at night. I would definitely stay here again. The service was fantastic.
Centrally located hotel in historic buildind
Very good. In a small hotel great staff make all the difference, and the biscari staff were charming and helpful
Great location
Near to bars restaurants and sites.Transport from airport Ali bus 4 euros stops right opposite hotel.Staff very helpful.
Nice and cereal to everywhere.
Very enjoyable stay and recommended and easily accessible to public transport for the rest of Sicily.😀
Convenient hotel in the heart of it all
Hotel is located in centre of Messina. We were there on a Saturday night and it's in the middle of party central. Our room faces the street and was noisy until 2 am. Wi-Fi was spotty at best. The building is almost 300 years old and the hotel is very unique. Our room was incredible! Huge and very unique. Staff is awesome and the breakfast served on the rooftop is incredible. It is 3 flights of stairs up to hotel with no elevator and the rooms are not very soundproof. Just a few pointers to be aware of if you stay here. It's a short walking distance to all the main attractions! Parking is limited but if you tell the hotel ahead of time they will reserve a spot for you! Staff was great. We enjoyed our stay!
A very central location with an easy walk to Metro and Train Station. Staff extremely helpful and breakfast variety very good. Bathroom fittings a bit run down but we didn't pay a lot either. An ideal spot for a short break.
Great location and lovely little rooftop terrace!
This was our second stay at Hotel Biscari. It's a basic no frills hotel. We lucked out with our double room which was massive with a balcony overlooking the street. Whereas one of our friends got a much smaller room for virtually the same price. The reason we returned was the location - only 5 minute walk to the main square. Quite noisy at night but we enjoyed the hub bub of activity. Breakfast is served on a little rooftop terrace - the perfect start to the day. Staff friendly but not overly so. The only downside, which may stop us from returning (we visit Sicily every year to run yoga holidays in the mountains) is the exit mechanism on the gate at the bottom of the stairs that leads to the hotel. We found ourselves stuck for ages trying to get out of the hotel trying to press the buzzer and pull the gate. Our friends had trouble too so it wasn't just us! Also be aware that you have to climb about 3 flights of stairs but we didn't mind that!
Difficult to get in!
Due to flight delays we arrived late (11 p.m.) and were standing outside the door, telephoning the hotel but unable to be understood - we were just outside! The reception is on the third floor. As is the case (I think) in most central city hotels which are rooms above residential premises or shops there is a buzzer, along with all the other occupants of the building, which is not easy to see in the dark. We eventually got in. Our bed was not comfortable and the en-suite had an unpleasant aroma. (room 1). The breakfast location is beautiful we really enjoyed eating on the roof terrace. As we had also booked the hotel for a few days later we were facing the return with trepidation, but as we now knew the foibles of getting in and insisted we have another (room 10) the return visit was much more satisfactory - the room was now o.k.!
Good hotel at a wrong island.
The hotel was great. The only exception was the standard Nestle breakfast. Why not something local. The place Sicily. I prefer northern part of Italy. People are not so smiling and friendly. The main attraction Etna, it was not possible to see other than stones and sno. No lightning lava, only smoke from long distance.
Very satisfactory experience for rather little money.
Excellent location and service.
Lovely welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location for Piazza Doumo and all of the surrounding sites and restaurants. Lively fish market each morning just behind the Piazza Doumo. Use of rooftop terrace for beautiful sunsets. Excellent breakfast on the terrace. Just a few steps across from the hotel to Airport transfer pick-up point.
Nice home away in Catania..
The hotel is much better than some of the negative reviews I read here... Taken that you will have a few flights of stairs to climb.. Just as most of the others.. The staff were extremely helpful and cheerful. With all the security measures, I can't feel safer staying in Catania..
Fantastisk service. Jättefint läge. Vackra rum.
very good
The beds were really old, like you laid in a hole. The warm water came after at least 5 minutes in the shower. The breakfast was really nice and the service during check-in was perfect.
Barocco
Tutto perfetto, ottima posizione, personale cordiale e simpatico.
Solide einfache Unterkunft mit sehr gutem Frühstück, sauberen Zimmern ohne viel Schnickschnack. Ein angenehmer Aufenthalt. Lobenswert ist die Freundlichkeit des Personals. Danke.
Wonderful small hotel in Catania
Beautiful rooms, a great breakfast on the rooftop and supernice staff! We'll come back here!
Gullfunn midt i Catania

The hotel is old but clean and very convenient to all the central areas of interest. The staff was great especially Angela! She was the most helpful and friendly person I met this vacation. Always a smile and volunteered to carry our luggage (in fact insisted) up the 70 steps to the room. She helped park our rental car in the courtyard and answered all our questions. I can not remember meeting a hotel staff member this friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and served up on a rooftop terrace. The room was simple ( we did only book a basic room) but the shower stall was very small. You could not bend over to pick something up! They had daily cleaning and 24 hour reception which was nice. This place is not for someone who doesn’t like going up and down steps as there are a lot. The tv had mainly shopping network stations and nothing in English and I was not able to hook up my Roku that I brought from home. If it wasn’t for Angela I would rate it much lower.
