I had an emergency issue come up and had to leave suddenly. Mia was very kind and helpful to me during my stay. Would recommend and come back.
Kindness changes lives.
i showed up with swollen, red eyes. i cried like a baby at the front desk after a very, very bad night. my credit card didn't have enough on it to pay for the deposit, which caused me to cry like a baby because i just didnt know what to do. the concierge got me a cold glass of water and said "please dont worry- we are going to figure it out." he made an exception and got me a room with a debit deposit of double the amount. i do NOT RECOMMEND making their lives harder by not having a credit card, but what was a very scary and upsetting time was made better by a mans kindness and good heart. thank you.
Really mid but people are nice. The neighborhood is really cracket. The rooms smells like cigarette and no elevator. Was ok for the one night we needed to stay here.
They gave us a room with no air condition. After we complained, they gave us the room with air!!!all hotel room should have air condition. No plug!! Couldn’t find the plug for your phone! It’s terrible
I had a problem with my Wi-Fi, and Mia allowed me to use the phone for almost an hour to get it straightened out… she even googled the solution before the professionals at my phone carrier could figure out how to help me… Without my phone working, I couldn’t do sightseeing to get a ride home It was a real lifesaver!!!
Good staff!
Read the reviews before staying here
There is no elevator — we had to carry our bags up and down a very steep stairway. The only source of heat in the room appeared to be a space heater. The pictures on the website look nothing like the property. Even though the staff was very nice, it doesn’t change the fact that this property is in a bad neighborhood and way overpriced for what is offered.
Everything out dated old beds old everything and dirty walls shower curtain
Why do you put the name Waldorf? It’s cheating customers and clients. Terrible. Expedia should not promote such hotels
It has a charm
Staff are very professional and very nice thank you so much. But we do reservation for marathon and we no sleeping because the discotheque just reopen for us week end. And is crazy . It s just look same the music is inside us room. When we do reservation the discotheque is close since longtime. Just to hard before marathon for us. But thank you at the staff . Very nice people
great staff only thing is the nightclub noise
Only place I will stay. Period.
Just people outside, hanging around the building
The area is home for drug addicts which make the price goes down a bit compared to other downtown neighborhoods. The property is a little outdated but it was maintained clean. It does the job if you want somewhere close to the city and reasonably priced
East Van Nights
It was a great stay except 1 night when I found an insect near my pillow 1 night. It got the back of my neck a bit itchy that night.
I didn’t like anything about this hotel or the location The bar bellow us was so loud it was like I was sleeping in a nightclub The staff were great but the room was ok but the tv was hanging off the wall and I wasn’t able to watch it so I tried to fix it myself by propping it up with the coffee machine!!???
Great
Please avoid this property if yours budget permits, specifically if you attend to an event in downtown Vancouver, the transportation costs will equal your expenses. The building is old with rooms with humidity smelling, bed are uncomfortable, they require a $150 dollars deposit fee plus the cost of the room without any notice. Terrible area with homeless and extremely dirty arounds.
Front staff where so kind. Good place to stay for a night.
I will defiantly use this hotel again.. it may be old but it was clean and staff were excellent.. maybe next time I will request a room not right on the street side.. lol
Nice wooden stairs
Valued privacy and excellent and friendly staff.
Nosy room, Restaurant staff were not professional, The guy who served me at night pass me the menu in a very offensive way .
Great Value as well as great and friendly staff. The connecting restaurant and liquor store was a plus
The experience at the hotel was extremely negative due to excessive noise from a bar located directly below the guest's room. The loud music caused the room to shake and windows to vibrate, making it an unbearable stay. Stuff was keep lying about situation this was probably worse hotel i have staid for last 30 years with traveling more than 40 countries
Could have been better in comfort & Service!
Terrible experience at this property. During the weekends, it was very hard to sleep due to constant event noise happening at the hotel and people talking on the street late in night. The service desk even though seemed nice, was not that helpful when it came to finding onsite parking later in the evening and we had to drive around (even when highly tired) multiples times to finding a safer and valid street parking. The hotel ran out of proper onsite parking and did not bother to save one for each room as posted on their room ads.
We always stay at the Waldorf and love it!
It was a great experience staying , clean, safe and calm . Great customer service. Great location as well
Didn't even check in the lady at front desk was super rude and swearing wasn't comfortable staying there
Again our expectations aren't super high and we stay here cause it's near downtown and it has a cheap price. You get what you pay for to some extent but we didn't expect what we got. Our room wasn't cleaned very well. The nightstand was dirty with a spilled drink and there was literally a hole in the exposed mattress. It was the first thing you notice when you walk into the room and I was really surprised a room was rented out in that condition. Get proper mattress covers and throw out ones that are in bad condition. I would also suggest a checklist for the cleaners and a quality check after cleaning is completed by a manager.
Staff is very nice. But it has a bar downstais and it was very nousy at night.
I've been to this hotel several times. The renovation is nice, but they need to improve the cleanliness and maintenance.
Excellent location, very cool retro hotel and always extremely clean. Thanks!
The owners were so lovely. Staff amazing.
Easy and convienent.
Just kinda dim with no light in shower area but shower good
Area seems to be very unsafe specially walking from the parking area to the room. Lots of people roaming around which seems to be very unsafe
Front desk staff did nothing wrong although when we arrived bed has not completely clean. i.e someone elses hair on bed sheets, shower curtain questionable. For price id expect more. We were staying literally just to sleep after concert. Front desk staff brought and replaced bedsheets.
The rooms were nice but my ac was broken in my room
Love this super cute and comfortable boutique hotel!
Very convenient to Mission Ridge
.
First. Cheap stay for 1or 2 guests. Secondly location is not bad. There is a no-frill supermarket just across the street. Everything is so close by
It is a historic hotel that has been updated. The renovations on the whole seemed to be half done. The room was small and what I would say overpriced. The staff are friendly and knew what they were doing, so the check in and out process was quick and easy,
Love this beautiful retro hotel! Always have a great stay!
Horrible stay
Tv wallmount on wall with out a tv attached to it. Wire on lamp broken and just twisted together. The put us above the dj booth and had a rave till 2 am. Plastic sheets on bed. Smelled very very musty and moldy. Bed was super hard
If you're staying for just one night for a particular event and there's nothing else available I would grab it. It is so noisy day and night. There is very limited options for dining. There is a no frills grocery store directly across the street from the hotel which was a big bonus.
My go to hotel in Vancouver
GOOD CHOICE BUT AVOID OTHER SIDE OF HASTINGS ST.
WONDERFUL MID CEN MOD HOTEL. THANKFULLY EAST END OF HASTINGS STREET AWAY FROM THE BAD AREA. STAFF WAS HELPFUL AND GREAT BAR ON PREM. THOUGH NOT A 'TIKI' BAR AS ADVERTIZED.
Hotel Staff and restaurant are great.
Repeat customer - good value
Excellent value & clean
They did tell me might be a little noisy wasn’t too bad, let front desk know I just needed towels she was going to tell cleaning lady, it wasn’t done, evening front desk girl brought up clean towels to me when I got back from my event I had attended
Vancouverites galore
The Waldorf is full of character! If you want a dull and boring run-of-the-mill hotel chain, then this is not for you. But if you want to get to know Vancouver and the Vancouverites .. then the Waldorf ticks all the boxes ... Bar and restaurant downstairs, with great Canadian burgers and fish n chips. But no Fat Tug which is a shame!
Staff very kind.
The staff are good but the room smells bit weird and took some time to settle down and no easy access to drinking water.
I didn't like that the hotel was very outdated and not true to the description. The bathroom was filthy, and the toilet water kept leaking after each flush which was not disclosed by the staff, before checking in.
Ok, old
Love this beautiful retro hotel and the East Van neighbourhood has so many good restaurants and shopping! Will stay again!
I visited this hotel yesterday and i was firstly told that it’s a non-smoking room but when i entered room there was smoke smell inside which i ignored at once but it was keep on coming also the room next door was so noisy like there’s a family or friends i don’t know but because of them we couldn’t rest or sleep even for an hour in peace. Girl on reception was so nice and helpful but the property owner should guide guests to maintain the low noise. They said there’s a menu for kitchen in the hotel but when i asked they said it’s closed, so i didn’t get the point why they advertise it when it’s closed. These things were not good i might not go back in this hotel.
You get what you pay for! TV wasn't working, managed to fix it. Whatever you do don't take a room by the road! The windows are paper thin and you'll hear every single car bus or crazy person all night long. Room was clean, bed comfortable. The show was intermittent with hot and cold whenever it felt like it. It's a cheap hotel. Don't expect too much!
Good service
Very cool historic building in an interesting area of Vancouver. The room is very basic but was clean and stocked with all the necessities. The staff were all pleasant and accommodating. It's a 10 min walk to Commercial Ave which has a ton of great shops and restaurants. The area around the hotel is rapidly gentrifying with a new No Frills and Dollarama right across the street. Would stay here again!
Super cute retro hotel. Clean and convenient
The location is great. Within walking distance to many excellent restaurants. The hotel isn't new but it's very comfortable and has fun character.
Pretty good
Room was good, price was.good. they did not xlean the room i guess thats the norm, news to me. No frills and dollarama right there, close to dt all was pretty good even the parking except the shower needs fixing.
Price
All of the rooms are located over top of an incredibly loud nightclub, which runs until 2:00 AM. No escaping it, like being tortured by sleep deprivation. Not so much a hotel, more like a group of rooms for people who partied all night to hook up in. No food service available in the morning until 11:00 am?? Located right on the edge of the cities' roughest area, which spills over. Was originally booked in for 4 days, checked out after the first
It is a good hotel but they need to take care of the cleanliness and give it maintenance, the sink was clogged and the hot water faucet in the shower does not work properly.
Easy check-in and good communication prior to the stay about the amenities and location. I stay here quite often when in Vancouver b
It was perfect.
As described
Room was as described and very clean. The room listings don’t say anything about mini fridges but mine had one. Controlled heat/ ac in the room but it was nice bonus to be able to open a window as well. In relation to noise, I think it will depend on who your room neighbours are and what is going on downstairs for the night. For my stay got unlucky on the neighbour end not being cognizant of how late it was / loud they were being. Not the hotels fault but as the walls do seem thinner perhaps when bookings are sparse spacing out guests out more would help. As for the area, pretty much all of E Hastings has the same people particular issues at night, the grocery & dollar stores are across the street so there may be more congregations at certain times however I didn’t find it to be any less safe than other parts of the downtown area at night. All in all, worth the $$$, if I happen to need a night or two in the same area, I would stay again.
Well.
I really enjoy staying here. The staff are all a bunch of sweethearts. Very helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and organized. It’s a wonderful hotel, and I will continue to be a repeat customer. Great job!!
We had a lovely stay. Communication with the staff was always available quickly. Great security 24/7. Comfortable beds & clean rooms/washrooms. Great pricing for 2 nights & 4 people. Would stay again!
The place is big, comfy and economical. The employee Male (Mia) was so incredible, truly so kind and helpful. I wouldn't however recommend staying at this hotel on weekends because it's attached a club that plays terrible music till 230 am on Friday and Saturday. It's so loud it shakes the entire room. And the music is so loud, you can hear the dj screaming "dance everybody dance" non stop, his voice was so annoying.treat yourself to good nite sleep elsewhere if you staying over weekend, during the week though this a great spot for budget friendly stay.
Beautiful and relaxing, flew in for the Taylor Swift concert. Great location
Nice stay.
The staff are very friendly. I liked the room that I was in. Overall 10/10.
felt dirty and area was not safe.
The place was cool. Kind of a hideaway feel. Window do not open at all.
Older building in a transitional area. Room was clean, lobby not as much. Staff was friendly and responsive. Bus stop conveniently located right outside. Located on the edge of a seemingly unsafe area, but we were notified about this ahead of time, multiple times and had no issues. It was a good option for the price.
Love the character of the older building. But the noise from the harbour and the street made for a difficult night's sleep. For me it's a perfect location however, and the staff member who greeted me was lovely.
Club music so loud until 2:30am. Everything was dirty. Staff was friendly but couldn't make up for rough area, cleanliness, and loud music.
It was pretty good.
The hotel was very well located, it's only a 10/15min bus ride to downtown which was perfect for our visits. That being said, the area is a little sketchy looking and happens to be a street well known for its high community of homelessness and people on heavy drugs.. It can feel a little unsafe to some, to walk around at nighttime but we felt ok with this as the corner of street where the hotel is located, was ok compared to a couple blocks down. Plus, the bus stops are right in front of the hotel, so you barely have to walk anything. About the rooms, it's very small and humble. Looked decent though, but could be improved on the overall cleanliness (bed frames, on top furnitures, bathroom..) It wasn't spotless and lots of dust and things that could've used a more thorough clean up. The smell of the room felt a little off too.. Other than this the bed was pretty comfy and just enough to "just sleep in". Things that could be improved in the rooms would be : - add little dressers, or a furniture with storage cause there's only a small closet with a few hangers. - add some kind of hooks in the bathroom, to hang our towels/clothes. - add a multi plug or something behind the bed cause there was only one plug by the right side of the bed and none on the other side. The rooms visibly don't cleaned while you're still checked in, despite putting the tag asking for maid service... The reception staff was really sweet to us and helpful when checking in/ checking out.
The staff was really nice and accommodating. They went out of their way and happily swapped our room that was over the club to give us a good night sleep. Really nice, made all the difference
Bugs in our room :(
For how busy the hotel was we could have been put in a room away from the busy main street. Room was clean and a good size
The hotel is connected to a venue that you can hear in your hotel room. The hotel is on an incredibly noisy road. There were people on the street, smoking and talking loudly right outside my room. There was nowhere I could find to charge my cell phone except the bathroom. The sheets literally smelled like a fart. Sorry to say that but it's the only word I can describe. The bed was lumpy and I barely slept the whole night because of what I have mentioned. I
Great
Good
Price was right, noisy on weekends but we were aware that would be the case. Parking was secure enough, be smart about it.
Very peaceful and private
The location is great just a bit unsafe feeling and would like more secure parking
Staff friendly and helpful.
Good

It’s a fair price per night. Don’t expect luxury but a quiet and clean place to stay. Staff is kind, friendly and attentive. Close to down town Vancouver. For sure I would love to come back.
