Ok, but...
Staff was very friendly. Morning breakfast was very good. But two issues: 1) bed was very stiff (along with the pillows) 2) No hot water for 2+ days. Something to do with the boiler not working.
Very friendly service. Good breakfast. Comfy bed. Very small shower. A/C was only heat, and to cool room with window open let cigarette smoke in.
Good for the price
Genuinely, was shocked at the bad reviews for this place. Hotel Artis was the BEST experience in Rome. SUPER short walk to the Metro Station which can get you to anywhere in Rome in minutes, great staff (who speak at least two languages), great coffee, spritzes and more. Hotel Artis is the SPOT!
Hotel was fairly good & the area is quiet, but far from central Rome & Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport.
All is fine
False promotion of a hotel, its not 4 star hotel, this hotel don’t even qualify for 1 star. Its a cheap, low grade hotel. If you are coming for tourism than the hotel location is extremely bad. There is nothing around only old ugly residential buildings. No bus, train station is 2 km away 15 min walk. Hotel don’t serve food except breakfast in the morning, there are no restaurants nearby, you have to ride a taxi to go to nearest restaurant. And the hotel receptionist also not welcoming, can’t speak proper English that’s ok but he reluctant to help, extremely poor service.
Hotel was clean, comfortable but basic at good price.
Great people !
Staff were very helpful friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was very good.
Breakfast was horrible
A few days in Rome, before the Amalfi coast.
Friendly staff, clean tidy and perfect rooms. Quiet and spacious. WIFI excellent, and staff incredibly helpful. Recommendation for a restaurant just around the corner with hand made spaghetti, and a history of the Roma football club by the host was a plus. Free parking and a much lower rate for the tourist tax was again a bonus. Links to the city centre via the close subway/metro line was again another plus for us. But please be aware, the metro is awash with pickpockets, and having experienced at first hand these individuals, just be aware.
Breakfast was good, close to market and mall.
The stuff was very friendly and helpful !
Good budget stay
Good hotel, good rooms, well sized, good breakfast. Only things are as expected and as many say, as a tourist the hotel is 40mins out of the closest Rome attractions and that is if you get a good run with the trains, typically takes about an hour. Room cleanliness was poor, cabinets were covered in dust and had someone’s old dusty and mouldy socks in them. Despite it being a non smoking room the room smelt of cigarettes and there were cigarette butts on the windowsill from the previous guest that had not been cleaned by housekeeping.
Mia famiglia ! Staff was AWESOME. Very nice area. Would have loved a swimming pool and a bar. Complimentary breakfast was OUTSTANDING. A little far from the Colosseo but I don’t feel safe in that area anyway. I would recommend staying here and renting a car. An unexpected but adorable 💕grocery store next door that has EVERYTHING ❤️.
Not A 4* Hotel
Unfortunately this is not a 4* hotel in my opinion. There were no tea/coffee refreshment's in the hotel room. The breakfast was very limited egg or bacon, and had to make do with a toaster that didn’t even work. The only positive for this hotel is the free parking and close proximity to the train links without being in the city. It’s also in a quiet location.
The hotel is excellent. There were only two things that worsened the experience: the condition of the bed frame and the showerhead, both of which might differ from room to room, so I wouldn't judge the overall experience based on this as the staff was great and probably would've switched the room if I noticed the issues earlier, and the location of the hotel relative to the transport stops – but that's not that bad, just a 10-minute walk from the nearest metro station.
The hotel was very clean and well run. The breakfast buffet was the best we had in Italy. This property is not convenient for sight seeing in Rome. It is in the middle of highrise apartment buildings. Unless you are visiting family in the area find a hotel closer in to town. It also was not convent to public transportation.
Hotel was lovily but could of had more options like fresh fruit it was the same breakfast every morning had to go out and buy my own fruit nothing really close to buy takaway only pizza but other then that the sraff were excellent
The staff and service was great. They were very considerate and helpful at every stage
False advertisement - Lying Hotel
False advertisement, awful communication and refusal of a refund. - (in short) Advertised air con. Air con was broken prior to getting there but didn’t tell us in advance or when we arrived (therefore couldn’t cancel after we booked in). After finding out our room was so hot we asked about the air con. We were told it was going to be fixed that day (so we stayed) and it was not. The same happened the next day. It was not fixed. Following this we complained and expected to be compensated as with the information (lies) we had (as per advertisement). They refused to compensate us and hotels.com said it was the hotels discretion (Hotels.com did the best they could) - It was also no where near the standard of a 4star standard hotel (other reviews also said so). Limescale all over the shower, that leaked all of the bathroom floor - Breakfast spread was good but you are underground with no windows - From all the interaction with Staff they were really friendly Things To note: - Close to the airport and Alessandrino tube but you have to get a bus to the tube A and then have to head to Termini and then switch to Tube C to Alessandrino which takes over an hour and a half. We made the mistake of assuming it would be quick to Alessandrino as it was close to the airport. - You can buy water from their desk but it costs more than a vending machine just next to their lift Summary - You cannot trust what is advertised or said by this Hotel. - Staff are friendly
Great service. Will stay here again.
The hotel is rated 4 stars but the reality is that is not close to the 4 star category, beds were not comfortable and noisy.
Staff was very helpful, most spoke English well enough to understand us. Our car transport which was booked did not show up on the Sunday to take us to the cruise terminal, Giovanni, called 10 shuttle companies until he got a driver to come and get us. Fantastic Gentleman, we made our sailing time. Thank you would stay again.
Great hotel with private parking. Great breakfast and super clean. Ideal for families. The area is a little isolated, I would recommend using this hotel if you have your car. For those willing to walk a little distance, there is a convenient metro stop within a 10-15 minute walk.
It’s a bit inconvenient for traveling around.
I’m happy I only stayed at this hotel for one night. It was horrible. No air conditioning even tho it says it does. Mosquito in the room couldn’t sleep at all.
Great place to stay at. Very clean, helpful staff. I highly recommend it.
Fair
Fair review for fair experience
Hotel Artis
Personale gentilissimo, Ristorante buono e colazione varia, molto positivo
Perfect for Ciampino Airport!
Great. Simple. Clean.
The rooms are not isolated as a result you can hear EVERYTHING from the others rooms
Great and affordable place to stay outside of rome centro. 5 minutes walk to metro and easy and cheap way to get to centro. Metro very safe and convenient. Grocery store next to hotel. Nice restaurant within walking distance.
Fine, but wouldn’t stay again
Hotel had a lot of rowdy teenagers coming in and out at all hours. Room was fine, though not the twin room I had asked for (and confirmed/told it will be at check-in/reception). Breakfast was incredibly mediocre.
Staff very friendly and they explained very clearly , what we ask about Rome, travel and other
Awesome
Hotel was in a quite residential area 1 supermarket next to hotel tasty breakfast receptionist very very polite and helpful
Little hotel in the outskirts
The hotel is nice, has a good atmosphere and ambiance, the staff was nice, the room was clean and other facilities were great as well.
The sign outside shows 4 starts, I would rate it a Motel 6.
Roma Trip
It was a good experience..
This is not definitely a 4-star hotel
The hotel is just good for low price. The area is very noisy and the walls are so thin you can hear people walking in neighbor rooms, though they say the rooms are sound proof!!! Friendly people working in kitchen area! Really nice cleaning service!
The hotel room itself wasn’t in fine shape. Very clean and plenty of room for two. The only issue we had was Wi-Fi did not reach our room unless standing right by the door, and even then, the signal was in and out, so we had to go to the lobby to have good signal. You are looking at 45+ minutes ride by train or bus to a long of the attractions but substantially Lower price made it worth it since our Roma pass paid for all public transportation.
In general my family and myself enjoyed our stay there, however, I forgot my tablet with some other small belongings, and I never get a response for my emails to the hotel to find out if my belongings where found there or not.
A good stop
Good enough considering you are outside central Rome
Cheap, clean, ok location
Good: Clean rooms, updated decor, cheap price. Bad: Walls not soundproof. Could hear a couple next room show up and make loud noises at 1 am. Staff did not seem to interfere.
Nice hotel, very clean
The hotel is very clean, the only thing is that i had my room next to the lift so it was a bit noisy but for the rest was very good.
Disappointing
Definitely needs a reduction in stars. Pros: Friendly staff Clean room Free parking Free WiFi Cons: 45 min journey to centre of Rome (inc. 10min walk, 10min metro, 15 min walk, 10min metro) Bed could be compared to sleeping on concrete Surrounding area feels run down with nothing there No amenities in the hotel A "bar", which is a small counter with no taps, no apparent drinks and, when we attended 2 hours before closing, no staff. If I was expecting a 2-3* hotel? Fine, could have overlooked most if not everything. But advertising itself as a 4* hotel and providing 2-3* is disappointing.
Very noisy lobby and smoking allowed near front
Stated above of my concerns. Breakfast did I not change at all. Beware of bus customers that come late at night or at 3:00am. Very noisy and have no control.
Rome visit
Very disappointed that room looked clean but had some mosquitos were flying around. Also no tea making facilities in the room. We had to pay extra £3.50per day .
Visit to rome
A bit disappointed that some mosquitoes in the room, also no tea making facilities in the room. We have to pay extra £3.50 per day. Also it was quite straight forward to get to Rome. Due to underground was shut, it use to take about 30 minutes by bus.
Odd location but a pleasant stay
Quite hard to find, the Sat Nav took us somewhere else! The hotel is in an odd location, buried within a housing development, but once found it is a nice modern looking hotel, probably best for business users. The Anglo/Italian guy on reception was fantastically helpful and helped make our stay easier. The room was ok without being fantastic, and we have no complaints. WiFi was good, the bathroom and shower were very good. They don't have a proper restaurant, just an area reflecting a school dining room where they served food in the evening and breakfast in the morning. The ambience wasn't high, but the food was ok and the service was excellent. Would possibly stay here again if I couldn't find anything better.
Good value for money
Hotel is absolutely spotless, excellent house keeping staff. We found reception always helpful, breakfast is Italian very focused on pastries and croissants, which may not be to anyone's taste but we were okay for a week. Hotel itself is about 1 hour away from the centre on public transport, once metro line C is extended to San Giovanni or Colleseo stop hotel will be much better connected to town and travel time will be cut significantly. Overall we found hotel comfortable and our expectations were met.
Very clean, and sterile looking rooms.
Great hotel very clean, I would stay here again. Only 2 negatives. It was farther than Vatican City than I had though, but a short bus ride to the subway worked well for us. Also the hotel, including the room had tile floors not carpet, so ALL sounds echoed throughout the hotel.
nice hotel in a quite area of Roma
it was a nice hotel with very kind and wellcoming staff, they were always there to help and explain in details what we needed. they were giving advice and explaining where to go and how to go.
Rude staff and far away
Far from rome, lady at front is very rude and they charge a high tax of 6 euro per person per night.
Overall, I loved it with the exception of the Wifi didnt worked and one of the employees wasnt that friendly. other than that I def, will stay there again.
Poor Location
Lovely hotel and great staff, our only negative was the location of the hotel - around a 1hr commute to central Rome. The bus service was poorly organised, waiting anywhere between 15-30 minutes for the bus to arrive, however the metro wasn't too bad around 5-10 minutes. The walk to the bus stop (around 3 minutes) was also quite unpleasant due to the bins never being emptied. Overall I would not stay here again, the hotel was lovely and the staff were great but unfortunately the location lets the hotel down.
Great for the money. Easy access into Rome by subway.
Perfect hotel, friendly staff, great breakfasts
Perfect hotel for a city break. Friendly staff. Very good breakfast! Great transport links! Perfect
Overnight stop
Short overnight stay. Free parking was a +ve
Rome trip
the hotel was just as advertised, a newer hotel some distance from the main terminal. the hotel staff were very helpful, directing you the most simple way back downtown (558 bus to red metro). no complaints. when you don't have to worry about your room, it's easy to enjoy Rome. the breakfast was a nice extra.
Clean but miles away from anywhere
The hotel was very much like a Premier Inn, very clean, but there was nothing to do at the hotel or nearby had to take a bus and the underground to get to anywhere. There was also a heavy tax to pay at the end of our stay which wasn't explained and came as a huge shock!!!!
Rome at its best
Amazing! David is a perfect host. Professional.
Air Condition did not work - Excuses
In our room the air conditioning was not working. When I made a complaint I was told that the regulations in Rome require the air conditioners to be off during that time of the year. I can not believe this is true. Staff was not helpful at all.
Nice Hotel for the $, but Not Convenient Location
It was a good price for the hotel but it took me forever to find and to get to. You've got to catch the metro to SubAugusta and then wait for the train and ride it for like 8 stops; definitely not convenient. If you're looking to stay close to the major sites in Rome, I would not recommend this hotel. If you're looking for a clean, affordable hotel away from the hustle & bustle, then yes, I would recommend it. Continental breakfast was very weak as well. Recommendation: Fork over a little more money and stay closer to where the action is.
Value for money
Hotel is nice but little bit in remote Air condition very slow I start in night get cooling in morning
We really like the cleanliness of the room, thank you so much to the housekeeping.. What we don't want to was how the receptionists approach us, by not saying sorry mam we dont have this or sorry mam the bar is close.. They just simply said we dont have this.. The bar is close.. In short lack of respect!! Im talking to receptionist named sara and the other man which i forgot to get the name.
Good hotel
A nice hotel near the centre of Rome. The hotel is situated in the suburbs and it was difficult to find. We where greeted by a friendly reception desk and checked in to our room. The room met our standards. The room was clean and had towels! The breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed the variety of items on the buffet. Aa good hotel. Parking was secure.
Ok
A little far from the center, but easy to get by public transportation. New hotel, comfortable beds and free breakfast and Wi-Fi.
Wifi connection and staff service
Wifi never works. Shut down every 2 minutes. Terrible! The staff was rude and always helpless... Never offer a solution. There was one guy that helps very well, but the lady and the senior were rude and alwyas looks like angry
Great hotel in an unfriendly neighbourhood
The hotel was great, very friendly staff. It is a shame that there is only one restaurant close to the hotel, and that the area is not very nice - but of course it is not the hotel's fault. The bus which takes you from the closes tube station to the hotel comes once in an hour or Sunday, every 30-40 minutes on the rest of the days. That was quite a problem for us.
Great Hotel , Great Staff..Kinda Out there
Great stay, however, one room in our group was clearly a handicap room. The short shower head and doors were not suitable for full sized/able adults. Caused the bathroom to flood. The hotel is new looking and the staff is amazing! They were helpful and kind and spoke English and tolerated bad Italian. :-) When the fire at the Fiumicino had us scrambling to rearrange travel plans they were nice enough to hold our rooms if we needed an extra night AND they allowed us a late checkout (without charge) to get our affairs in order. I would recommend this hotel especially if the line C makes it out there. Otherwise, you need to be tolerant of public transport (subway to bus) or like Taxis (23eur from city center)
Nice hotel but not that comfortable.
The bed is not comfortable at all, needs an upgrade. You can hear everything that goes in the whole hotel (Yes that as well). Can't sleep longer than 8am as you get woken up by the cleaners dragging table and chairs around. The breakfast is not up to the British standard. The fruits are nice. The hotel is €60 from the airport and €30 from the city centre. So have money to spend on cabs if you don't like public transport. I don't know nothing about the p/transport as I rented a car. They are the worst drivers in the world (ok on Europe). Other than that the holiday was lovely
Nice hotel, a bit outside city center
Nice hotel room with an awesome breakfast downstairs from 7-10am. Wifi was adequate, occasionally slow. Definitely would stay again, given the price of our stay. It is a bit of a trek to get from here to the city center. Budget ~45 min. to and from Roma Termini (the main subway/train station in Rome) because of the wait time to get a bus from the closest subway stop (Subaugusta) to the location of the hotel. All of the front desk staff spoke adequate enough English to clearly tell us what to do, and they have a printed map showing the bus stop you should take. Hotel is located in a residential neighborhood, so we felt really safe at night. Also, there's a market right next door for late-night snacks and drinks.
Hotel near Tuscolana
The only thing that I would complain about is that the hotel staff forgot to give us back our passports and we only realised this when we were about 50km outside of Rome.
Clean, Modern Hotel
This hotel is very clean and modern, however is located on the outskirts of the city in slightly run down area. There isn't anything special around the hotel, just flats and a small super market. It is not in the centre of Rome and if you want to visit all the usual tourist spots you have to get a bus to the metro which takes about 15 minutes.
Not for a romantic city break, too far to Rome.
First I must say it is not a 4 star hotel I would say 1 or 2. To get to Rome you need to walk to the bus stop 5-10 min then wait for the 558 bus. It takes 10-12 minutes to Subagusta Metro station from there around 30 min to Terimi Station in Rome Center. 1 hour total is a lot and too much hassle. There is absolutely nothing around the hotel other than housing blocks. Around Subaugusta Metro stop is nice where there are nice shops restaurants cafes its worth visiting just to see the local life. In hotel there is a reception and lifts to upstairs to the rooms and downstairs to room where you have breakfast and a little dinghy room where you can watch tv and drink coffee. that's it! Next to hotel there is a shop, it was handy for snacks and stuff. Breakfast was boring and tasteless. Its a new hotel so it looked ok in the rooms though. there is no coffee machine, no bath just a shower, little tv with no english channels and you need to pay 6 euro pp p/day city tax at the end of your stay. The time we wasted, all that hassle, paying for travel and stuff i wish i paid a little bit extra and stayed in center...
Bad Experience
Besides the fact the shower water failed to get warm, there was all kinds of hair on the inside of the shower curtain...disgusting! The bed was very hard, there was dust balls on the floor and very trashy neighborhood over 60minutes from central Rome. We originally booked 5 nights, yet immediatly cancelled the remaining 4 nights.
Lovely hotel & staff!
After reading the reviews we were a little worried about the distance of the hotel from rome centre, however upon arrival at ciampino airport, we made our way to the City for €4 each!! After having a look around we easy enough found our way to the hotel from termini metro, on line A to subaugusta were we caught the 558 bus to Giaquinto. The hotel was 5 minutes down the road all for €1.50 so easy and so cheap so we preferred the hotel being out the way and the travel! The hotel truly is value for money if your looking for your modern room with basic needs then this is the place to be, staff was very helpful in directing you to the nearby restaurant and information on how to get around, providing is with maps. Recommend this hotel definitely
Great hotel!
This is a really really nice hotel. It's new and well maintained, the room was clean when we arrived and overall a very happy experience. The only qualm from a tourists point of veiw, which is not the hotels fault is the location. It's a bit out in the sticks and unfortunately it doesn't seem like a desirable part of the city. To get to the nearest tube station you will need to take a bus which thankfully is covered in the travel tickets you can buy around the city for use on the tram, metro and busses. The reception keep 100minute tickets behind the desk to get you 100 minutes of travel from the point of validation. That's more than enough to get into the centre of Rome. Overall the hotel is brilliant just a shame about the location. Oh and make sure you don't miss the last bus back to the hotel's area at midnight otherwise you face a good hours walk. Cheers
NOT recommended
Hotel is very far from the city centre. Need to take a bus for half a hour, then a train for half a hour. No concierge, although they advertise it. Wi-fi in rooms very weak. We organised transfer form the airport to the hotel with the hotel staff. After waiting an hour on the airport for the guy to come and pick us up, we phoned them, and they told us that the guy is still 40 minutes away. Needles to say, we needed to organise other transport for almost double the price. No sorry or anything from the hotel staff. Not much to do in hotel area as well, and only 2 restaurants in the area to eat from
Nice clean hotel 30-40 mins from Rome centre.
Nice clean hotel, lovely staff and very helpful. About 40 mins from Rome centre, 558 bus very local takes about 10 mins to saubagusta metro station, metro straight into termini for Central Rome. You can walk a further 5mins up the road from the hotel pass the bus stop and use the tram which takes about 20 mins straight through to termini where you can walk to various attractions or take metro to ones further afield, less busy than metro. Lovely restaurants in the old back streets of Rome which are a lot cheaper than the tourist areas. Had a lovely time there and will definitely go again. Arrivederci!
Lovely hotel
The hotel was very nice and the staff were pleasant and very helpful. The rooms were of a very high standard and were very clean. The rooms were spacious although there was not a lot of room for clothes and only three coat-hangers were supplied. The range of food at breakfast was very good but all the hot food items (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages) were cold most days (no heating under the tureens). There was not much in the vicinity of the hotel and although there is public transport nearby it is quite a long way from the centre of Rome.
Great hotel
A really good hotel nice staff very helpful, friendly, driving around Italy so perfect for our Rome stay, very close to tram/bus lines to Termini so also bonus, breakfast very good
The ac made noise all night so we couldnt have good sleep. My husband complained to front office. Though they said they will send someone in the morning, no one showed up. We stayed like this for 4 nights. Also the noise level was up from other rooms. We could hear people walking or talking middle of the night which was additional disruption for our night sleep.
Very satisfied
I liked the hotel very much. The staff was courteous and the location was ideal for the proximity to visiting my daughter's school while she attended a study-abroad-program.
Artis Hotel Rome Italy
The hotel was v. clean, the staff on reception were friendly and spoke good English, the location is a bit far from Rome centre but the transport system is excellent, 1 bus ride and then the metro gets you into the centre and it is a good experience, at the end of the day when you get back to the hotel theres nothing to do, the bar is closed, the bar staff are not v. helpful (they just told us to go away when we asked them for a cup of coffee 15 minutes before their closing time), there was no tea making facility in our room and the local market (next door) closed at 8pm. the tv had no English channels so there was no entertainment at all at nights (my partner wasn't complaining she got my full uninterrupted attention). Breakfast was ok but no toaster so it was cold breakfast daily, overall we enjoyed staying at Artis mainly because of the cleanliness.
Very good hotel
The hotel is in a good location as it's not in the centre of rome but not too far on public transport. Also the staff are very helpful and speak good English and the cleanliness is up too a very high standard. The only thing I can fault about this hotel is that it doesn't have an outside sitting area or garden.
way out
Hotel is ok, staff helpful but the location is just too far from central Rome . Rented a car just to get to the Metro, driving / parking in Rome is not a Holliday activity...
Basic, but friendly reception & very good price.
I would rate this as 3 star. Not an issue as the price of the room and food is very good. Location suited me as I was working nearby. No nearby facilities that I noticed so eating in hotel seems the only option. Limited evening menu but very cheap - breakfast was better.
clean
clean hotel, supermarket next door which is great, far from the metro, need to take a bus. buses are frequent though. v few places to eat close by. in the middle of a quiet residential neighbourhood.
Okay as a base
Staff where very helpful. Bedroom could have been cleaner and so could the bathroom. There were stains on our bed covers and the sheets weren't changed. The room was swept out but only once. As I said it was okay as a base. Breakfast didn't have a lot of choice. I thought this was a four star hotel but it should be advertised as a two star one.
Easy to get into centre of Rome. Omnia pass great
Great place only one drawback was that the bar closed at 10 to 10.30 made it difficult to chat and socialize. Great breakfast and rooms really clean.
OK but not 4-star level
Pros: low price, clean Cons: Slow registration, subpar breakfast.
Nice clean hotel but too far away from Rome
Nice clean hotel, facilities basic, breakfast not up to much, would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in room and also a proper on site bar would have added to the experience.Room was always spotless after being cleaned
good
good environment , nice buffet breakfast . very clean but missing my bed tea which is not in room
All around good
Great breakfast staff, always on top of things. Easy access to the city centre by bus and train (30-40 min). Close to a neat restaurant where they serve homemade pasta. Right next to a grocery store. Free parking. Comfortable beds. Would stay there again!
Hotel Artis | Hotel in Rome | Travala.com
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The metro was only less than 10 min away (walking). The rooms were clean and comfortable.
