This was one of my favorite places I have ever stayed in all of my travel experiences worldwide. Aside from the great food, incredible hospitality, comfy bed, and convenient location, the staff was warm and insightful, providing excellent guidance into safe and wonderful experiences around the city. Highly, highly recommend!
Stayed 10 days! Excellent staff good location clean hotel will definitely stay again
Malo- Ruidoso - imposible dormir.
The restaurant, ARP, is great. The staff is wonderful. The design of the remodel is gorgeous. The location is perfect. The rooms are incredibly small.
Great location. Friendly staff, especially check-in team during the day. Rooms are small and comfortable. Waiters were very friendly but food is definitely below par. Would have expected better food all around for the place.
Amazing
Lovely location on the beach and walkable to so much. Enjoyed the complimentary bikes!
Stay here, full stop.
We knew when we walked into the hotel we made a mistake. Small- lobby is big enough for 2 people in line which is the same path to the restaurant, worse off is the path to the beach, which is a little gross when you’re eating. The 2 elevators fit 3 people, hallways to the rooms are narrow. the room which consists of 2 nightstands, one with a child size chair, bed and wall mounted tv. We upgraded to an oceanfront balcony room for a 7 day stay,($3400 usd) to enjoy coffee, cocktails and meals. No furniture at all except a hanging hammock. No place to sit and eat in the room except the bed. Noise- ridiculous level of noise throughout the entire stay- cobbled stone road beneath the balconies. Motorcycles, carts, and anything else just rumbled, as well as party goers. One night laying awake like we had every night- we looked at each other and just laughed about the noise-, who would have thought. Food- hit or miss very inconsistent Front desk/associates mixed reviews on helpfulness/attitude Recommendations- we originally were going to stay at the Fairmont at Copacabana Beach, but got hooked by a “pricing special by Arpoador. Stay at one of the 30-ish great hotels at Copa and walk to Ipanema. We tried to share our feedback with the Mgr speaking with 6 associates at the front desk over our stay- He never got back to us. I’ve traveled to 2 destinations every year for 20 years & have never written a bad review and now you know
Loved this boutique hotel . Very nice location and staff ! Beautiful Terrace !
Lovely boutique hotel in Ipanema
We loved this beautifully designed and comfortable hotel-- it is rare in Copacabana and Ipanema, since it is right on the beach, rather than across a busy street, as most of the other local hotels are. I would recommend an ocean view room-- from what I could tell some of the rooms are smaller and there is nothing nicer than waking up to the sound of waves. We ate most of our meals here-- delicious, and breakfast is generous and cooked to order. Wonderful beach with umbrellas and chairs, though the rooftop pool is small, not for swimming.
Staff was great Restaurant service a little slow. It seems kitchen staff is not very well organized. Waiters and staff (specially in leisure business) should put an effort to learn a little english to comunicante better with guests. Some areas of the Hotel seem a little deteriorated. Which makes it look unmaintained. Special mention to Marcus who was VERY HELPFUL with us. Overall we had a good experience. Thank you all at Arporador!! :)
Great place
It’s a small hotel, so the floors are pretty quiet. The restaurant / bar is as close to ‘on the beach’ as you can get. A few steps from the amenities of Ipanema Amazing views from the rooftop
Wonderful and exclusive hotel. Nice breakfast. Fantastic rooftop with a great landscape to Ipanema. I would stay next time!
Beachside dining. Breakfast is amazing. Location is as good as it gets. Rooms bit small but nicely appointed.
The best hotel in Rio de Janeiro
Excellent staff
Great stay in Rio. Had a beach room and loved the view of the two brothers!
Lovely place - lovely staff. Outside wait staff could be faster - had to wait quite a while to get my drink with my food but overall still great and courteous.
We liked how easy and small it was. Food was really good.
Great location right on the beach between Copa Cabana and Ipanema. Restaurant food was very good as well.
Great
Nice staff
Incredible location. This beautifully designed boutique hotel was just perfect in every way… make sure you book the ocean view room and enjoy the nights music, ocean waves whilst relaxing in the hammock. The team went out of their way to make you feel welcomed. Or simply enjoy watching the sunset on the rooftop… incredible stay.. thankyou
Although a great location for access to Ipanema beaches, the hotel appeared run down, provided no amenities you'd expect given the hotel cost. Noisy at night and not a comfortable stay.
great smaller hotel right on Ipanema beach. excellent food at restaurant, dining indoors or out. staff very friendly and helpful. would return for certain. ps: enjoyed the morning yoga sessions
The hotel is in Ipanema, right on the beach. Easy access to the Metro. Many restaurants and shops around. Staff is very friendly and help. Breakfast is very good, many selections
Staff friendly and very helpful. Best location. Breakfast amazing. Sauna in rooftop, right on beach. Cons: do not get the massage they were not good. Esp lymph massage, asked several times for some pressure and nothing was changed. Major con: there is NO INDOOR SHOWER or place to use if your room is not ready or you have a late flight. They only have one outdoor shower. Very few amenities. Room is tiny.
The staff was very nice and helpful. The food at the restaurant was as good as well!!
Cool hotel. Perfect location. Great service. Small but decent rooms. Loved the pool area. And right on the beach. Restaurant is ok (dont order the cacio e pepe and fillet) but there are so many others walking distance. Breakfast is great. Couldnt recommend this hotel enough.
I was really happy at Arpoador Hotel- beautiful property! Great service, great staff, and the restaurant was wonderful too. I can't wait to visit again :)
Perfect stay , location is on iconic Rio's beach. Staff is great but room a little bit small but confortable.
Right on the beach. Excellent service
Brilliant place, great location. The staff was very attentive and professional. Room with a sea view was just perfect.
Amazing location on Ipanema beach. The entire staff was friendly and made our visit to Rio very memorable.
I love everything, but especially that the hotel offers gluten free and lactose free food options.
This is an excellent boutique hotel. The rooms were clean, the hotel is very well situated on the beach in a quiet area of Ipanema. The included breakfast was excellent but what made this Joel stand out were the workers. Ana Paola our breakfast waitress could not do enough for us. She was so sweet. Rodrigo the bartender ion the rooftop bar made the best caipirinhas was so helpful explaining the city to us he made us feel like family. Toth our diner waiter was awesome. He catered to every need. Bruno at reception could not be nicer. Also very helpful. In general everyone was nice but the ones mentioned made our stay extra special. We thank them for their hospitality and making us feel so at home and welcome in Rio. Our first visit and surely not our last.
We just stayed at Hotel Arpoador for 8 nights. It was a wonderful stay! The rooms are small, but we’ll appointed! You can not beat the location and dining with a view of the ocean and mountains. But was most special was the staff. Everyone and I mean everyone went the extra mile. Micael checked us in, checked on us the next day and was so welcoming! Toth, Alex and Rapha were just wonderful to us. We could not have had a better vacation. We loved Rio and everyone at the Hotel Arpoador.
The setting is beautiful and the staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful. They went out of their way to make our stay care free and enjoyable.
Great location and the staff is very friendly!
Incredible
We absolutely loved our stay at Arpoador. It was very convenient, close to everything. Walkable distance from copacabana, ipanema and leblon, and close to famous bars and restaurants such as Belmonte. The restaurant Arp is beach front, the little street that has access to the beach is fully secured and has a view to the arpoador rock and morro dois irmaos. Totally recommend and cant wait to go back!! Only downside is that the TV doesnt have the option to use streaming channels and the only channels available are local Brazilian ones. Considering this is a very international spot and many guests are from abroad, Arpodor should really consider upgrading the TV system.
Excellent location. Beautiful hotel. Rio is simply stunning <3
Amazing hotel, definitely recommend and will stay here again!
Special hotel
Excellent hotel, we had the best time. Breakfast was a special highlight with a sea view. Special shout out to Nicolas Swan, he really made us feel welcome and couldn’t have done anything more, an asset to the hotel.
Enhanced beauty
We wanted to stay at Arpoador because we had previously been to the restaurant and had a great experience in terms of food, service and ambiance. We weren’t disappointed when we booked our room. If we ever tome back to Rio we will definitely stay there again. The staff can’t do enough for you, even arranged our last minute transfer to Ilha Grande. We had to leave early before breakfast was ready but they made a bag of sandwiches, biscuits and water for the minibus. Other hotels could learn a lot from Arpoador.
Overpriced for what it offers
Very small hotel. No breakfast buffet, just simple breakfasts. Overpriced for what it offers. People are getting great places at $100-250 a night. This one costs $535 a night. Not worth it. Right next to the beach is its only claim to fame, but the sound of the waves also makes it harder to sleep.
Amazing location and property.
The staff were lovely and very attentive. The breakfast view and food was brilliant. Rooms were extremely clean and kept to a high standard throughout our stay. We also loved the small details like the shower gels, amenities in room and great shower facilities to use long after checking out.
Hotel is small and quaint. Modern with a Brazilian twist. Staff very friendly and restaurant has great food. Rooms are small and meant for one in my opinion. Safe.
loved the bar restaurant that was open to the beach. the bike service was especially great and the yoga option. everyone was super helpfull and freindly. food was great. and the beach is better than copacabana
Great Hotel
Great location right on Ipanema beach and great staff service.
amazing location and friendly staff. very nice breakfast Basic rooms extremely small with absolutely no view looking in airshaft. too small for even 1 person and problems with air conditioning. Wonderful views from terrace but pool really the size of a jacuzzi. Fitness room extremely tight
Excellent staff!
Outstanding location. Very nice view of ocean if you are lucky enough to land an ocean-view room. Only thing missing is a concierge service.
Room for improvement, overpriced, wouldnt recomend
Mixed feelings about this hotel (we stayed in 10 hotels in our brazil trip from 100 a night to 650 a night and it was during carnival so our expectations were adjusted. Note we paid 500 a night to stay here in a ocean view room but would say for that kind of money you are better off staying in the belmond which was 600 for ocean view. The good. View was nice, good location to walk around ipanema beach, service from SOME staff was good. If you pay 100 a night for the room then its good value. The bad. Paid 500 a night for ocean view and you dont even get free water. The rooftop view was nice but the pool is basically a large bath so not really enjoyable. ocean view also had people partying all through the night on the beach (they were there till 12pm the next day) so sleeping was difficult. Front of house staff were hit and miss for service and were quite confusing. The worse bit for me was breakfast. You can have on the rooftop or on the pier which is nicer to sit and people watch. We went to sit down for breakfast, had to wait atleast 10 minutes just to speak to someone as the restaurant also serves the public (never had to queue to go for breakfast in a hotel), when we finally got to someone we were told it was a 30 min wait as there are many names on the list (from non hotel guests) and that i should go to the rooftop for exclusive breakfast. This to me is unacceptable that a hotel guest paying 500 a night should have to get in line with others that just rock up that day
The very best part of the my whole stay was the friendliness of the staff. They were so attentive and friendly despite some language barriers. And I meen ALL the staff, from the front desk to the waiters and security guards. The restaurant t was spectacular. We wanted to eat there every day. The pool wasn’t very big but it had spectacular views. I would deffinately stay there again
Excellent and very friendly staff. Clean room, although there was an issue with the bathroom sink being clogged that was not fixed during our stay. Bummer we Happened to be there during cold days, and there was no heat in the room. Enjoyed the stay though, We’ll definitely pick this hotel again for our next visit.
Great and friendly staff that spoke English. Hip beach vibe with a great location and beautiful rooms.
Cozy and nice boutique hotel
Very nice and cozy hotel, very recommended!! Just one thing, pack light since there is not so much room for clothes.
Fantastic boutique hotel in perfect location. At end of Ipanema, walkable to almost everywhere or short taxi to most anywhere. Staff was amazing - always ready to help, very friendly and welcoming. I plan on staying at Arpoador the next time I am in Rio. Highly recommended overall - note workout facility needs works!
Gem of a hotel in Apoador
Love this hotel! I just wish they weren’t so strick on the checkin time but if you have to wait you have the rooftop to lounge. Big shout out to Mateus he went above and beyond and also in the restaurant the hostess with the blonde curly shoulder length hair and also the guy with dark curly hair in a ponytail with blonde tips at the end. I wish I could temper their names but too many caipirinhas. This is a perfect gem and has stepped up from when I stayed there when. It was the apoador inn. I come to Rio often and have tried many times to stay here and it’s always busy . I will be returning in 5 weeks for carnival amd can’t wait to go back. If you can’t stay there at least go for breakfast, lunch or dinner you won’t be disappointed!
Right by the beach, cozy and stylish hotel. Excellent location - easy to walk to Copacabana or stay in Ipanema and Leblon. The staff was super attentive and helpful. Cannot wait to come back!
Absolutely fantastic hotel
Such a beautiful hotel full of helpful, kind staff. The rooftop is amazing, the bed so comfortable, and the ambience is great. The restaurant is fantastic, and the breakfast that I purchased with my room was by far the best hotel breakfast I’ve had. I had a couple requests due to time crunches that the staff went above and beyond to help accommodate. So grateful for places like this that make traveling easy and so enjoyable. I will definitely be back.
Its the perfect location to explore Rio. Great vibe and outstanding staff! Highly recommended.
Altamente recomendável, experiência muito positiva
Hotel muito charmoso, com Staff super descolado e atencioso..localização privilegiada, frente mar, café da manhã irretocável..região muito tranquila e caminhável. Recomendo!!
Love the location!
Beautiful view with welcoming staff that speak various languages
Great vibe, location, clean rooms.
I had an excellent experience. It was my second time at hotel arpoador. I totally recommend this place.
Perfectly located in Ipanema
The staff go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. Unbeatable view 😍 Enjoyable Air-conditioning and comfortable bed. Weekends are chaos outside at Ipanema beach but can enjoy quieter isolation meters away on rooftop pool and capture the perfect sunset from this location too.
The perfect Rio location. The complimentary bikes and beach chairs, towels, and beach umbrellas are great. It felt like home in Rio.
The property is brand new and is very well designed and clean. The basic room i got was cute but simply too small, not even room to open a suitcase unless it was on the bed. The hotel’s restaurant is very cute and had a magnificent view of the beach and quaint street vendors. The food is great but almost all fished i tried were way too salty, almost hard to enjoy.
Property, location and food are amazing! Great vibe, clean and friendly staff. Just expected a bit more of the service which is better than the vast majority in Rio but is not up to par with the level of the property and a world standard. Definitely super positive impression overall though. Would certainly stay again any time.
Best place in Rio! Only hotel in Ipanema situated on n the beachfront.
Hotel Arpoador was a wonderful place to stay in Rio! The staff -- both at the Front Desk, the restaurant and the room-cleaners -- were very nice without exception. (For example, check-out time was noon, but I didn't need to leave for the airport until 6 pm. Not only was I able to store my luggage there during the afternoon, but the Front Desk staff even volunteered that I could use the roof-top spa facilities to take a shower before leaving for the airport!) The location is excellent -- at the east end of Ipanema Beach, and just a couple blocks from Copacabana beach; also near a Metro stop. Great facilities, too: a restaurant (with excellent food, including the complimentary breakfast) that includes tables outdoors right on the beach, and a rooftop bar that is the perfect place from which to watch sunsets. I would stay there again without a moment's hesitation!
Good value/nice design
Rooms are on the smaller side, but big enough. The design is very nice and feels beach and modern. Hotel staff is pleasant and helpful (albeit check in was a bit slow). Early check in was a great option. Breakfast is included and Im we ate out on the little deck. The basic breakfast is cheese, meat, scrambled eggs, 3 homemade breads, yogurt and granola with honey, and a fruit bowl. Juice and coffee are also included. You can trade the regular breakfast for other items, or add on a la cart. Roof is great (Cristo view one way, beach the other) and wasn’t crowded.
If you want to experience the best location and hotel amenities in Rio, then look no further. Hotel Arpoador has it all. Best place to catch the famous sunsets in Arpoador, complete with live music. It’s situated smack dab in the middle of Zona Sul, where you can walk in both directions of the beach and reach Leme (Posto 1) or Leblon (Posto 12). Where else can you relax on a hammock in your own room in Rio, where you can look out and view the beach that is just outside your balcony window? The rainshower was the best in luxury - offering heritage Granado products and an option to see the beach while you take a refreshing shower. Simply amazing! My only gripes are the front desk and the free daily breakfast options. We’ve stayed in other Rio hotels where the front desk staff were more quick and very efficient. We were also looking forward to a great breakfast buffet that introduces guests to Brazilian food culture, like pao de queijo and local fruits but these were unfortunately not offered during our stay. Aside from these, we look forward in coming back to this memorable hotel. Parabéns e muito obrigado, Hotel Arpoador!
It has a boutique feel and located right on the beach
Great hotel w wonderful staff
This hotel is top notch with extremely attentive staff, fantastic location on the beach and a great modern vibe to it. Unfortunately I didn’t take the time when booking to read the fine details of the room I chose, as I would have realized it was extremely small. The only room I’ve ever stayed in that was smaller was when I was in Tokyo, where I expected to be crammed into a closet. There is nowhere to put your clothes, no coffee in the room and only a small walking area around the bed and that’s it. Luckily we didn’t spend a lot of time in the room so no big deal. It should be noted that this is in the most gay friendly part of Rio, so if you are not comfortable being surrounded by gay men you should book elsewhere. We enjoyed our stay so much that we tried to add on more days to our visit but unfortunately they were all booked up. Oh also I remembered that the breakfast gets redundant...they give you the menu but as a hotel guest you get the “Arpoador Breakfast” each day unless you want to pay extra. A board w cheese, meat and bread along w yogurt. Nice and fresh but redundant after day 4 :)
Brilliant stay
Best location in Rio, lovely restaurant and rooftop. Would highly recommend this hotel.
Location right On the beach staff were very helpful friendly and most spoke English very well We had a small room at the hotel from an Expedia special We love this place and would highly recommend it
Good location, fair hotel
Room is way too small. I did not receive my receipt at check-out. Was supposed to receive by email, but did not get it either.
Great beachy stay + delicious food
Fantastic stay at Hotel Aropoador. It was right on the beach, food was spectacular (best hotel food I've ever had), and staff was super friendly. Bed is very comfortable, and I got the room with the hammock so I could lie down and swing while gazing at the ocean. This is a very safe part of Rio and perfect for someone who wants a beach-y vacation.
The hotel is brand new but still need to improve a bit with their staff and some amenities. The room was really small but not uncomfortable. The bathroom was good but the shower had some issues with the sower (the water stayed for a while). The breakfast was good, but a bit slow, and if you ordered something different it took ages, and everyday they forgot something. Nevertheless it was a good hotel, the only one with a breakfast almost at the beach. I would recommend but would really like them to improve in their staff.
This is a beautiful boutique hotel literally across the street from the beach in Arpoador, which lies between Copacabana and Ipanema. We had a room with a sea view, which included a hammock so you could slide back the glass door to the balcony and feel like you were lounging on the beach while in the comfort of your room. The complimentary breakfast is a little feast and first rate. The hotel offers a range of amenities and the staff are very friendly, although not always the best source of information for getting around Rio.
This hotel is just next to copacabana beach and walkable to restaurants.
boutique hotel
It’s a beautiful boutique hotel. Very modern with modern furnishings. Clean room and good menu. Location is best and front desk staff are great
I really enjoyed the hotel overall. The hotel is clean, bright and spacious . It is steps away from the beach. The beach in front of the hotel is not as crowded as in Copacabana which is nice if you want to enjoy the beach and the ocean waves. I was told this side of the beach was also a good side for surfers, I don’t surf but a friend told me and he also said it has one of the best views of the sun setting. I had breakfast by the beach each day and it was marvelous. I really enjoyed the hammocks in the rooms and some had them on the balcony. I would lay in my hammock and admire the ocean from my room. The side of my room that faced the ocean was a giant window, I didn’t get a balcony unfortunately but the fact that my hammock was near a giant window like that made up for it and the room got a lot of light and it felt spacious. The ambiance of the hotel is therapeutic, bright and airy. Great for couples, it’s a romantic place, Rio. The hotel exchanged money for me but there’s a fee however it was convenient and I was trying to save time. They offer free bikes and beach service (towels , umbrellas) for their guest and a very delicious breakfast that was included in my stay. This is my favorite hotel and I have visited during my trip in Rio several hotels. This is the hotel you should go to. There is also a roof top terrace with a bar and a small pool with views of the ocean and beautiful beaches. I am definitely coming back to this hotel next time I’m here. Beautiful!
4 night stay in Rio in September
Cozy boutique hotel on Arpoador beach at one end of Ipanema beach. Ocean view room is comfortable, and has a nice, removable hammock near the window. For Ubers please use the R. Francisco Otaviano street as it is near the main entrance and easier for cars to stop. Morning breakfast is not buffet style unlike other hotels but offers a decent spread of eggs (fried, scrambled), toast/breads, some cheeses, jams, fruits, juice and coffee. The breakfast was a little monotonous during our 4 night stay and it would have been great to offer substitutes on the menu particularly for people staying longer at the hotel, but other than that the quality of the food was good. The restaurant overlooks the beach and the waiters are incredibly courteous, friendly and helpful, even if you don’t speak Portugese. This is one of the few Rio hotels that has direct access to the beach, and they provide free beach towels and chairs which are easy to take to the beach.
Great breakfast ! Great vibe in an ideal location in Rio.
The hotel is very well located at one end of Ipanema beach and sits close to the sand. The view from the restaurant is amazing. Friendly staff speaks English (not a given in Brazil). Breakfast was generous and delicious. Wifi was good. Small pool but excellent views from the roof.
Fantastic location on the beach in Rio
Great location overlooking Arpoador, with modern room rooms and excellent service
Amazing
100 percent excellent. All brand new and spiffy. Great staff!!! Super food. Love the location. I will be back!!!
Great Lil Gem
I had to stay for one night and wish I had more time. The location is great but the staff is even better. Very welcoming and attentive. It is right in front of the beach.
Great Stay!
Fantastic location, friendly staff, comfortable room, breathtaking ocean view, this has far exceeded our expectations! Breakfast needs adjustments: suggestions: to offer "pão de queijo", banana, avocado, pão francês, oatmeal ("must haves we missed") and we suggest buffet style, preferred all over the world, so we can help ourselves with our preferences. All servers and staff are AWESOME! We loved it!
The property is very clean and you can tell staff is doing their best to maintain it, the staff are always friendly especially Christian and Vinicius from the top bar and rodrigo the bellboy. The property is right in front of ipanema bach and walkable to the arpoador. The sea view room is amazing with hammock by the glass window that you can open. Breakfast is well presented and the arp hotdog i tried from the top bar was phenomenal anf also presented well. There is a small rooftop bar with a small pool you can dip on while waiting for sunset, there is also a sauna and small gym on the 6th floor.

Great menu, great food. Outstanding breakfast.
