Hotel was in a great location, walkable to most attractions in the area. Especially if you are interested in the Jewish Ghetto. The room itself was not clean, and we think the bed had bed bugs. We were also bitten up by mosquitos for most of the first night, although a helpful staff member did help us rid the room of them.
The property was very clean & bathroom was updated. I had asked for twin beds but got a queen. Breakfast seemed adequate but we didn’t partake except for coffee. All in all, it wasn’t what we expected. Down a dark alley but cheaper than many, I think.
The room was very spacious for Italy and very comfortable. The hotel was very safe and in a good location. The staff were all very kind and helpful.
Fab stay, good location
Nice stay for price. Very friendly staff.
Bathroom is too small broken stuff not clean
The property was just fine. It had a very small room, bathroom and old furniture, but we were safe and able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. It’s a short walk from train and had a ton of shops and restaurants nearby. Staff was nice and helpful.
I didn’t like the sharing of washroom, but we are ok about it. Love the fact that it was so convenient to everything’s like dining and shopping,
It’s good but very difficult to find the place and we lost the WiFi connection for almost 1 1/2 day go hard without internet
The hotel was in a great location, the room was clean and it was great to have a key to the hotel door to let oursleves in and out after 10pm. I would huggly reccomend this hotel for anyone who wants to wander the streets of Venice from an easy location.
Perfect
Really enjoyable stay. The photos are exactly what I experienced. The staff was kind and very accommodating. I would highly recommend this quaint place.
I really like the location of the property since there were two coffee shops right outside it’s alley
Closer to station Too cramped for families. For a couple it is Ok
not very convenient if you have luggage to carry.distance from the nearest parking area is too far.
The staff would not even say hello (chao) or good morning (buongiorno) or nothing. Very cold , unfriendly specially when we arrived. Would not stay there again.
Really nice comfy hotel in good location
Great location, room was traditional with matching bedspread and curtains, really comfy bed, reception was small but they allowed us to drop our bags off until we could check in, the hotel is down a small alleyway so we passed it first time we looked for it, once you know where it is it’s easy to find. Plenty of places to eat round about and a euro spar in the street too for drinks
Wonderful stay in Venice
Wonderful hotel, staff were amazing, rooms clean and location of hotel was so ideal. Close to everything and a short walk from the train station which we came on from Pisa. Everything was perfect.
Everything was fantastic in this hotel.. whenever I ago back to Rome, it’ll be my favorite hotel
Great location. Walkable distance to main attraction
nice hotel , good location
This was a great hotel for the price. The bed was comfortable, but the bathroom was shared with one other guest room which we were unaware of when we booked it. The wifi was spotty, but overall a good location and hotel. Check out my YouTube channel (sabrina Muñoz Rubenstein) for a more in Depth review
Great location close to the train station is very helpful whilst dealing with luggage. Hotel staff was onsite for check in and any needs. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was shared with only one other guest room so it was never a problem. I would definitely stay here again.
Restroom
We had a small apartment. It is nice, clean, and had enough space in the bedroom and kitchen. Bathroom is very small. There isn't room for your legs between the toilet and bidet. The shower is about 2' square, so you hit the water control with your elbow. On demand water heater doesn't keep the temperature constant. And we had problems with the wifi.
Affordable Gem to Explore Venice
Incredible location less than a half mile to the train station! Located on a small alley that opens up into a main street near the Grand Canal. Room and bathroom were extremely small, but great value for the money. Staff was helpful and even lent me an umbrella one night when I went out in the rain. Stairs to 2nd floor are steep, so only those who have good ambulatory skills should make a reservation for those rooms. Bedspread was worn and somewhat stained, but sheets were clean and bed was comfortable. Wi-fi reception was good. They took my passport when I checked in and returned it later that evening, but no other place did that. A little unusual and made me a little on edge. Breakfast was an assortment of pastries and yogurt, granola, coffee, and juice. Coffee was not as warm as typically served in U.S., but that may be common there. Incredibly convenient place for getting around Venice and a fanatastic deal for the money.
Service needs improvement
Wanting a private bathroom I was offered to pay almost double for an upgrade which I agreed to, so I was looking forward to our "Junior Suite", The hotel reception is in one place, the rooms are via Home Out in various locations of the citIy. Instructions were vague and it was hard to find the reception area, making us trek all over the place with our luggage over many bridges.Google maps was of no help as there are two streets with the same name The receptionist tells me because of my upgrade there is no safe for my belongings ( had been promised a safe), Only after several angry conversations between him and the cleaning staff it was revealed the receptionist was mistaken. The room was spacious and everything worked although we had to figure things out by ourselves - the weather turned cold and we didnt know how to turn on the heat etc. The beds are just pull out from couches, linen didnt feel fresh, under the beds was filthy , and the housekeeping left much to be desired, There were no housekeeping services or fresh towels, toilet paper etc the 3 days I was there. Promised fruit did not arrive. and when I wanted to check out the reception office was locked, If they can improve these things, they would do their business a boost.
all was good, good location good staff.thx😁😁😁😁
The washroom, which we had to share, was so small it was very difficult to change or dry off without touching the toilet, the sink, and the wall.
Good service
Very nice service. When. We had. A problem. We. Where immediately helped. Great. Service.
A long walk from reception, loud at night, no breakfast including, tourist tax higher than in other hotels...
Not the worst, but it was bad
Let me start by saying, this is not the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I spend about half the month at different hotels for work, so I probably notice more than most. This hotel I can only assume has different properties around Venice. I’ll start with the good, for the price this hotel is okay. Considering everything around is twice the price. It’s clean, the floors are swept (unlike the two previous hotels we stayed in Italy) the tiles are new. There’s a 3ft fridge in the room so that’s helpful, the beds are clean, the linens are fresh and new, they even come with fresh towels daily. We left without realizing they would come change the towels, ie we left iPads, laptops, cash and other valuable items, nothing was taken. The water pressure was amazing, the bathrooms remodeled (keep in mind this is Europe, showers are smaller) and air conditioning was strong. The bad, the room/apartment we were assigned was a quarter mile from the “lobby/ check in desk”. Not exaggerating. Which is not unheard of just annoying since other places meet you at the apartment and do the intake there. The beams in the ceiling I understand were placed to create a rustic design. However, they are very very old, they almost look unstable the worst part is. These small black bugs fall from the ceiling because they’re in these beams they fall randomly, we slept under the sheets so they wouldn’t fall on us while we slept. It was very uncomfortable and disgusting. For $300/night I expected better
Very clean. Great location. A bit of a drag checking in at different location and dragging luggage across 4 bridges to get to room. Would highly recommend taking the boat shuttle. Only one stop but makes it so much easier. We are fit people and didn’t have much luggage. Still. It was a very hot day, uneven pavement and many people to maneuver around. Just take the boat if you have a day pass anyhow and make it easy on yourself :)
Good Value.
A weekend away with the family. The hotel just fitted the bill. We needed a small clean hotel and a bed. We were out all day and late into the evening. It was just right for us. In a quiet but good spot. Staff very friendly. Some might say old - but we found it full of character. Good value for a weekend in Venice.
Noisy and disappointing breakfast
The hotel room was not at all like the picture displayed on the website. It was extremely small. The bed was a double not queen-size. The included breakfast was disappointing. No fresh fruit, no cheese, no cold meats! The family who own and run the hotel hang out in the reception area most of the day and talk very loudly. This noise carries up the stairs which makes it difficult to rest or relax during the day.
Bed bugs, don't stay here!
We stayed in the apartment location for this hotel. We were eaten alive by bugs and had marks all over our body and face that required medicine to stop itching. It was the beginning of our Italy Trip and we were very disappointed. Expedia did nothing and neither did the hotel to deal with our issue. Save yourself the hassle and avoid staying here.
Convenient location ,easy access to transportation, clean room.
Room was not as advertised, completely different
Room was different (and worse) than shown on photo, we booked a double bed yet the room came with 2 singles. We asked if we could have a double bed (which we paid for) but got told we'd have to pay extra for the upgrade, or wait until tomorrow for the beds to be made into a double. Sadly wouldn't recommend
As a late replacement it was ok
This was a last minute booking as the other apartment we booked let us down. It was convenient and it served a purpose. Wouldn't be my first choice and it does need some work to it.
Place was fine, but it's a shared bathroom
Booked a room and when we got there it was a shared bathroom. Nowhere on our reservation did it list the bathroom was shared, so best to check with the hotel before you get there...
Horrible old hotel in an alley.
Old smelly hotel in an alley. 10mins walk from the train station. Room was in terrible condition. Tried to change another room but was told by the front desk there aren't any room available. So we booked another hotel and checked out immediately and suddenly they said there are rooms available. Horrible services, no integrity and disgusting room. Stay at your own risk. Stayed for less than 30mins and left due to the terrible condition of the room. If you do not want to ruin your holiday, book elsewhere. I'd recommend La Palazzina Veneziana which we book after checking out and it was heaven compared to this. On the side note, we brought up to Expedia and the hotel denies all allegations and said we have hygiene issues. How are there hygiene issues if the hotel was clean? I would attach photos if we didn't want to leave asap.
Great location!
Firstly: Please read to make sure that the information of this hotel clearly states that check in is in a different location. We arrived from Rome to the Santa Lucia Station and used google maps to direct us to the check in location. Please, PLEASE note that there are TWO Calle Della Masena. We had luggages that we dragged through cobblestone and carried up and down stairs to pass canals to find out that we were at the wrong location. I had bought and Italian sim card and attempted to call the hotel but the phone number listed on expedia is incorrect. So if you use google maps, choose the Calle Della Masena closer to the Santa Lucia station. Upon arriving to the right location, our check in was where our room was at. And our passports were held for the duration of our stay at the hotel (I guess as an insurance policy?). The room looked exactly as the picture portrayed and was spacious. I loved the antique feel of the furniture, it takes you back in time. A con to this hotel is the restroom which was located outside our room (but I guess that's common for European hotels). The restroom was clean and there was hot water but it seems like it was added on to the building as an afterthought. I am 5' and 90 pounds, very petite and felt that the restroom was tiny! We shared with an adjoining room but it was so clean and always free when I needed it. The best feature of this hotel is how central it is in Venice. Everything is within walking distance.
Very good location.
It is always a pleasure to visit Venice and everything it has to offer. The hotel is close to the vaporetto and you can walk to the train station. Venice is always full of life and beautiful.
Excellent all round
Had a fantastic time here, great hotel.
Room was very small. No refrigerator. Wifi didn't work. Bathroom had a smell and shower didn't srain well. We spent minimal time in room so these issues were bothersome but not critical. Cheap price reflects level of hotel. You get what you pay for.
4 stops from Tronchetto parking
Small hotel, but it was clean and well maintained.
Nice hotel !!!
Great a experience ... Close by to everything. Didn't get to explore because I had to catch a flight. It had breakfast.
July 11-14 2016 Room 7
Location is convenient for those who want to be close to Piazza Le Roma bus terminal (this is where airport shuttle arrives) and train station. Abot 10 min walk. It is about 15 min walk from Piazza San Marco. One minute walk from S.Marcuola waterbus stop. We booked it last minute so there was not much choice. Hotel room is small (sleeping arrangement sufficient for 4 people) staff is friendly. They serve continental breakfast from 8 to 10am. No elevator. In our room we had air conditioner as a separate unit which helped with extreme heat the first two days. Soap, shampoo and towels are provided. Thy stored our luggage all day locked in breakfast area after we checked out at 10.30. Overall it is a place where you can sleep, take shower and eat light breakfast and nothing else. It is a two star hotel and I rate only my experience. For our family it was sufficient to enjoy this beautiful city for 3 days. My only complaint is that there is no refrigerator in the room and AC is turned off by cleaning staff so it takes ages for it to get cool again. If you don't experience a heat wave like we did 39 degrees Celsius then it's not an issue.
12 Minute walk to your apartment with shared bath
This place was ok. Clean room. Don't look under the sheets of the bed though...YIKES! No staff to speak of except in the check in area which is a 12 minute walk through crowded Venice away from your room. Location...yeah, they got that right. Overall it was...OK. Right place, adequate place to lay your head.
Friendly staff, interesting setup.
Very friendly front staff, jnterwsting setup with rooms around the city.
Checked in and out
Didn't stay because of the room condition . It smelled very weird. Pictures are not accurate.
good basic hotel, no problem areas, good location, satisfactory breakfast and wifi
Good value for money for the young...
If your young, travelling light & planning to stay more than 4 days, this is ideal for you.Very basic but clean.Problem here is,you need to pass how many bridges & once there, you need to get your knees ready for the climb :)
No good
I have stayed there for 3 days. No ventilation so it smells terrible. I just tried to stay outside as long as I can. Breakfast isn't very good -- bread, butter, jam etc. , things from cheap food store. I don't recommend it.
DO NOT STAY HERE
First thought that comes to mind, scam. I booked online and when we arrived they "didn't have the booking" and treated us very poorly. After some arguing back and forth we were given an apartment, not a room. Which was more expensive and not what we had booked. Next, we were told we'd have wifi and that wasn't the case. And then to top it off - after I had brushed off the rest of the problems and focused on enjoying my trip - when we went to check out they told me we had to pay with cash. No credit or debit, even though the online confirmation I received said we would be charged in advance. When we tried to deal with the payment the man at the reception literally refused to deal with me even though the booking was under my name. He ignored me completely and told me to "be quiet now, enough from you" and tried to get my boyfriend to pay instead. I will NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff were rude, disorganized, and I felt like I was being robbed the whole time. All in all, WORST hotel experience I've ever had in all my travels.
Convenient lication
Excellent location. Easy to access from airport by water taxi to stop 2. Excellent affordable restaurants at end of lane recommended by the friendly owners perfect for a 3 night stay. Small room with clean bathroom and pleasant breakfast room
Not honest and unethical group.
I hate it, not exactly because the hotel is bad but because they were not honest. They post one address and when you get there, which is hard enough already, they sent you to another location much further. Not ethical in my opnion to trick your customers like that.
Good stay
Good hotel, but a little bit wet.
Hotel close to train station
The hotel is close to the train station which was good. The older staff members were friendly but the younger ones were at times rude and not helpful at all.
great location
great location, but very small room for the price!
90% As Advertised
Hotel Ariel Silva is nearly entirely what they advertise. The location is great and, for being in Venice proper, a great price. They say that they are a two-star hotel (if not on the website, at least outside the main building), but give the service, in many ways, of a solid three star hotel. There is room service daily, the beds and pillows are comfortable, and we felt very secure. The only thing that we were slightly disappointed with was that our room did not have wifi - there is a wifi router, but only in the main building (our room was in a different complex several blocks from the main building). There was also a bit of an air conditioning problem (i.e. lack of ability to turn on when necessary), but we still slept mostly fine. Also, while it didn't really affect us, they can definitely improve their situation by moving from a notebook/binder organization system to a computer system. Again, though, everything was mostly everything we were looking for. The staff has decent enough English and was very accommodating, especially when we landed off the bus and were completed at a loss of where to go. Venice is a beautiful city, certainly unlike any I have ever seen. Enjoy your stay!
Very nice stay ?
Very clean room couldn't fault it apart from there was no wifi connection that was the only downside !
Annex right in the center
Overall, it was a great stay. There were some issues at the beginning because apparently the hotel was not sent the confirmation of our booking, but luckily they had a vacancy for us. I would recommend calling to ensure that they have your reservation. Also, be aware that if your room is in the Annex, it is NOT at the same location as the hotel lobby, but a bit away. The annex does not have an elevator, and we were at the top floor, but that is ok.
We had a really lovely time here. The staff were always friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Very comfortable.
Better than expected
Venice doesnt have great hotels and is expensive. This room was $50 , clean, with refurbished shared bathroom and silent. Had a great stay
Nice, very simple hotel in Venice for low cost.
Hotel was just right for what we needed- very friendly and helpful staff and a very clean room. No wifi and shared bathroom were drawbacks, but the price was right and it was an excellent location right in the middle of Venice.
Staff was ok
My stay was ok. I stayed their on 09-19-13 and again on 09-30-13. The second time, the staff (older male) wanted to send me to a seperate apartment that was part of the hotel, except a bit further then where this hotel was. Due to the time (0500 hours) that we were leaving, I did not want to walk further to a the second location with my luggage. The staff was trying to convince me, I told them no, and they charged me an extra $20 Euro (cash only, not credit card). I asked them why I had to pay more even though I had already payed prior to my trip. The male said because I was not sharing a restroom. I advised him I had previously stayed in the same room and had no trouble, I dont believe he cared to hear what I had to say. I will be calling Hotels.com to complaint.
Nice, clean hotel
Excellent place to stay, floor 5 has nice view, near Rialto bridge
Great location, staff & price.
For the price, this hotel was Great. The room was a decent size and very clean. Fresh towels and neccessities were replaced everyday. The free breakfast consisted of croissants, breadrolls, ham, cheese, condiments, fruits etc .. and the staff were wonderfull. In addition, it is located only a few minutes from Termini station.
Room size
The first room we were offered was extremely small but fortunately a bigger room was made available
Not Bad...
We arrived at the hotel around 9pm. The guy at the desk was very friendly and helpful and we were made to feel welcome. The main problem was that our room was a huge distance from the main hotel - something which was not made clear at the time of booking. After checking in we had to make our own way to the apartment which was a mildly annoying 30 minute trek! The room itself was clean, well presented and warm and the facilities were reasonable. Overall I would only reccomend this hotel if other main island residences are fully booked or to expensive!
Well located hotel but very noisy.
The hotel is cheap (by Venice standards!) which is why we picked it. The location is good and the hotel room was clean with everything in good working order. The only issue was the location of the room we were given. It was immediately off of reception so we could hear the comings and goings of all the other guests and discussions of the staff. It was also located next to the side street which seems to be used by many locals as a cut through (/meeting place for loud conversations at 3am). The room doesn't have double glazing, or a good enough door, to muffle these sounds. Consequently it didn't feel like we had any privacy. We got what we paided for and the hotel was fine in all other respects. We will be trying somewhere else should we return to Venice.
If you have a choice, dont stay here
Overall the experience was not too good for us during our 3 nights stay at Hotel Ariel. Firstly, the hotel practically had no service except some simple housekeeping. Secondly, the aircon gave out a stale and foul stench each time we on it and it made loud and annoying noise every now and then. Thirdly, their pillow was bad, gave us neck aches every morning when we wake up. Lastly, the stairway leading to our room on the 2nd floor has a foul stench that made us hold our breath everytime we pass through it. Overall, I would strongly discourage you from staying here if you have some money to spare and if you are looking for a nice place to stay in.
Good Location, affordable, but
Hotel Silva is in a good location, near the train depot, and convenient to much of Venice. But our room shared a substandard bathroom with another room whose every word we could hear. Worse, we were on the ground floor and could hear trash bins being moved at bar closing time and again about 6:00 a.m. So, while the room was nice, clean, affordable, and the folks running it were nice, it would not be your first choice. BTW, we speak no Italian, but that was not an issue here.
Ariel silva hotel venice
It's hard to review this hotel, it is incredibly overpriced, cramped and the staff looked tired from a long tourist season in venice - but then this is Venice where every hotel is overpriced and the staff tired. It was ok, reasonably clean, good location to station and vaperetto bu I wouldn't stay there again unless I had too.
Ariel Silva Venice - good but not value-for-money
We stayed here on 28 May, the main check-in counter was hard to find. After check-in we had a choice of a few locations for our room, so we chose the one nearest to Santa Lucia station as we had a train to catch at 9am. The location was great - quiet lane with a view of the entire lane & the canal from our room. I also liked it that it was just a unit along the lane, the feeling was very 'local', unlike checking into a big hotel. The room was big with an extra bed for our luggages. It looked like a cheap B&B room with whitewashed floor tiles, walls, sheets and old furniture. Clean but no character - not an issue but no 'wow' factor if you're looking for some Venetian 'feel'. We had a shared bathroom but it was clean and the couple in the other unit was very quiet and considerate too. However, I was slightly disappointed as this was the most expensive stay throughout my Italy trip.
Very good personell
Is quite good, the bathroom was a bit uncomfortable because dont have curtains, a bit dangerous to slip on, the only detail is that since it is a shared bathroom, the other guest was quite dirty
It would be very helpful to inform to the tourist when they make the reservation that they need to walk for about 15 mins. aprox. with their lugagge towards the place when they get to Venice, as there are no taxis or other common transportation. The cleanness of the hotel was good in general, but the bedspread wasn't. The bathroom is very small and some of the staff could be a bit nicer or friendler towards the tourist. Other staff members were.
Riktigt bra boende!
Bästa läget i Venedig.
We didn't realize we'd booked a room with a shared bathroom, so we decided to upgrade to a room with its own bathroom and that was quite expensive. There are no elevators and the stairs are quite steep, and the room itself was very small, big enough for just the bed and a large armoire (the tv was above the door). It was fine for one night (lots of mosquitoes) but I don't think I would want to stay longer.
Pulizia buona, personale cortese.
Posizione centrale. Lo consiglio sicuramente.
Struttura molto pulita, personale accogliente e disponibile.
Very nice time
Great hotel with good price. Staff its very helpful and kind. Hotel are clean, location its the best. You can go on foot everywere.
Solo vedi dove chedere soldi dopo prenotare.

Stayed in the room with the shared bathroom , Amex building , 5th floor no elevator . If you OK to use the stairs - its amazing charming place to stay . You will definitely feel part of the Venice history and the view from windows is stunning .
