The staff i encountered over the 3 days were very helpful. Large room compared to other places I have stayed, in Paris. I will definitely return to this hotel, so convenient from Gard du Nord and the Metro.
Great typical parisien hotel. Cosy little rooms and very friendly staff in a nice area of paris.
Easy to walk to from the Metro. Nice walk to the downtown area near Les Halles. The room was small but renovated with a renovated bathroom. The staff was welcoming and the price was reasonable. I will not hesitate to stay there again.
My stay at this hotel was exactly what I needed, close to place Republique and Le Marais it was so convenient to walk everywhere and use public transportation. This is the type of no frills, very basic hotel, so don’t expect much. I went for a business trip and didn’t spend time in my room other than to sleep. The staff was friendly.
The place was safe and very quiet
this is a sweet, old fashioned hotel, where you turn your key in when you go out. my room was comfortable, with a firm bed, good linens, a tea kettle and some teas, sufficient hangers and storage space to put clothes and a good shower. and an elevator so one doesn't have to drag one's baggage up to the Xth floor!
Marais hotel
Overall a comfortable stay with an excellent location in the Marais. The only negative thing to report was a mysterious electrical buzzing sound that kept me awake one night - short buzz at infrequent intervals coming from outside the room. On a Saturday night there is a lively and loud party crowd in the small square below the property that goes on all night
Excellent
Outstanding Experience
Hôtel Américain exceeded my expectations. I stayed here for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and I’m glad I chose this hotel. The hotel was very close to the Metro making it easy to get to Olympic venues. There were also good restaurants and shops nearby. My room had a balcony view of the Eiffel Tower and they even gave me a complimentary breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. Outstanding experience!
I stayed for 5 nights during the Olympics. I was on the third floor. It was quiet and nice to have my own bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. The room had A/C, which was duch a nice surprise and so welcome given the heat, and breakfast was included. I am not sure whether this inclusion was something special for the Olympics, a change in policy, or a unique aspect of my booking. The breakfast was nice, with croissants, cheese, meusli, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, and fruit. I would definitely stay here again.
Excellent experience, friendly staff, room clean. Great place to get around, metro very near
Small room but on the things that count, this hotel delivered: strong shower, great duvet and good mattress, air conditioning. Keep windows shut because it gets noisy as early as 4am! Amazing boulangerie a step away from the hotel door. Would’ve been nice to have coffee available in the room or lobby.
Great hotel ideally situated and easy to get to everywhere in Paris. Great area for drinking and dining. Rooms clean, compact but sufficient. Very comfy bed. Nice staff.
Decent home base if you're solo and outside more.
It's a decent place to stay and it's close to a metro so getting back and forth between the airport was easy. The neighborhood has alot of cafes and shopping and it's a bit far walk from a few museums. This is far from the Eiffel tower and Arch if that's what you're looking for. The room was really really small and cramped by the roof but I really just used it to sleep. The building is old so it comes with that territory, like some minor bugs and thin walls.
This hotel worked for me - easy to get to from Gare du Nord, walkable for a lot of places I wanted to go - at a decent price. The gap between shower tray and curtain meant most of the bathroom floor got wet each time. Being so close to Place de la République meant hearing a lot of noise during important election results and football. It was unusual for me to hand my room key to reception each time I went out, rather than having a key card
Rooms small but average for Paris. Hotel could use an update but found staff excellent and rooms clean.
Loved our stay here!! Very clean and close to many food spots and the metro!
This was my third time staying at Hotel Americain, having visited once in the winter and twice in the summer. Each stay has been delightful. The hotel provides simple rooms that are safe, quiet, comfortable, clean, and spacious. The staff was polite and helpful. My most recent trip was this June, where I stayed in a single room. The room was very cute and even had a patio, allowing me to enjoy my take-out food and wine on the balcony. Although the room doesn't have AC, coming from San Francisco where we don't use AC much, it didn't bother me at all. The WiFi connection was good and the bed was comfy—just what I needed. The Marais area is the only place I want to stay when I visit Paris. I'm fortunate to have local friends who live here, so I might be biased, but I truly believe it is the best neighborhood in Paris. The hotel is next to the best boulangerie, and a few minutes' walk takes you to the open market Marche des Enfants Rouges. The area is filled with wine shops, brasseries, vintage shops, boutiques, and charming mom-and-pop stores on every corner. Overall, Hotel Americain offers a fantastic experience, and I can't wait for my next stay!
It is an ok hotel. Small like any other hotels in Paris and its quite old too. Bring extra shampoo if you have a full head of hair they give small packets. No fridge in the room. Also one of the receptionists insisted we give her our room key when we left the room which was weird. No other workers asked, only her. But the area is convenient and close to the subway and there are nice places to eat around the area too.
Adequate. Not great but not bad either.
A decent hotel. Location is convenient to Republic metro (about a five-ten minute walk). Some nice wine bars in the area, problem is that on the weekend it gets rather loud on the street and was woken up in the middle of the night by this. Hôtel is basic but adequate, you get what you pay for. Front desk was very helpful and friendly. Very English friendly.
Good location clean & comfortable
An economical choice good transportation options.
Clean and comfortable in a convenient location for exploring Paris on foot.
The room was so small there wasn’t enough room for our luggage and ourselves. The safe in the room didn’t work and the shelf in the bathroom was broken. The shower was also too small and leaked and you kept on stepping on the plug in the bathtub so it kept on closing.
Reasonable pricing
Location is very good
It is accessible to all like transportation and foods.
Very close to Metro, very clean and staff are friendly and helpful. I just have suggestions if the management can provide a menu for their breakfast. I will recommend this Hotel. Thank you, United States
Excelente
I have stayed in thousands of hotels. This was literally the worst! It was crawling with bugs! No one would help me and the manager said “is normal”. No, it is not! They also added a bunch of charges after I left which I had to get credited through my credit card because Orbitz said the manager would not respond to them. This place is an absolute filthy nightmare!
Located in an isolated area but close enough to major points
Very acceptable hotel
A gem in the Marais, great location, restaurants around and only a short walk down to the Seine and Notre Dame On Saturday night it was very loud in the place underneath the hotel, but otherwise it was perfect.
Good stopeover .
Only here one night , but very comfy room , good shower , quiet enough . Plenty drink and eateries within 5 minutes walk . Gare du Nord only 30 minutes walk .
Great location for our purposes, very quiet but very convenient to main areas. Staff efficient and friendly
Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms spotless. Wonderful location, with short walks to le Marais attractions. Would stay again and highly recommended
Older but well maintained hotel in convenient location near Republic metro hub. Staff were very nice and helpful.
Good location
Recommend for budget conscious
Amazing! Really friendly staff and convenient location.
Safe ro walk around friendly staff
Great experience, cozy room with a street view.
Good hotel , great location.
Very pleasant stay. Staff were great, friendly, helpful, efficient. Room typically of Paris quite small but fine for one person. Very clean. The location is excellent being close to Republique metro . Lots of cafes nearby, boulengerie next door..
Facilities not as good as shown online; my reservation was not acknowledged until I presented a hardcopy of my confirmation of my reservation; the door key initially did not work; the airport shuttle listed on the web site did not exist.
Great stay all around, would highly recommend.
Clean, Friendly Staff and close to all the eateries in Downtown Paris. Merci!
The staff was outstanding!!!!
Good location, friendly staff, first night was noisy. The hotel was clean. I would stay again.
Cute little hotel. Our room, though small, had a balcony and a view across the rooftops. The next door boulangerie was fantastic and there are plenty of restaurants nearby.
Economical choice for Paris
The Hotel Americain is located near the Republique Square, so just a few metro stops from Gare du Nord and a short metro or bus ride to the main sites of Paris. Our room was small, while the bathroom was large. Air conditioning worked well. The wifi in our room (#4) was very spotty, while it worked better (but still slow) in the lobby.
Clean, Comfortable, Convenient
We had a great stay at the Hotel Americain! It was convenient to the metro and we loved the convenience of the delicious bakery next door. Our room was simple but clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend for a simple, convenient, comfortable place to stay in Paris.
Not clean
Room was dirty when we arrived. A used towel was hanging next to the bed. And the next days, sheets were not change, bed was made but sheets were dragging on the floor. Floor was dirty. AC was not working.
Our stay at Hotel Americain was great, its convenient location to the Metro makes getting around Paris very easy. There are plenty of restaurants close by and it’s a very safe and for the most part quiet. The rooms were clean and staff was friendly. I would recommend anyone who’s looking for a budget hotel to stay here.
What I like most was there was a Boulangerie around the corner. The room was located on the 5th floor, no emergency ladder in case a fire breaks out in front of the door. 5 floors are certainly a huge drop! There was an exit door in the hallway 'tho. Front desk staffs were helpful and friendly.
The location was convenient, just a half block from rue Temple, where you will find route 8 which stops at many of the city’s top attractions. Plenty of different dining options for many tastes. One block right was republic square where many taxis await. About a kilometer to the left is the bastille. About a block away is a coin laundry.
It was amazing, close enough to the rest of Paris that I didn’t have to spend ages touring. Only downside is that the walls were a little thin so I could hear the neighbours when they were a little loud. Would definitely go back.
The room was great. The pillows could be better and there’s a weird smell in the bathroom.
Location
they were really nice and i enjoyed my stay. so great for the price.
Very enjoyable stay. Was exactly as I hoped
Comfy and Nice
Nice trip to Paris. Hotel is perfect for visiting Paris if you don't want to be in the tourist area. Nice little hotel. Easy access to Metro and lots of local shops. Bed was so comfy.
Spend more for a nicer place
The room smelled of mold upon our arrival, but after airing the room out for a day the moldy smell dissipated - but we knew the mold that caused the smell was still present and letting out spores for us to breath in and land upon our belongings. One of the lamps over the bed did not work. Housekeeping failed to replenish coffee in the room even once during our stay, and one day forgot to give us a clean hand towel - but the front desk provided these items when asked (we had to come get them ourselves though). The room was small, but as expected for the price category and location. No dresser to unpack your bags into, but there was a closet to hang things in. The in-room safe did not work. The toilet seat would not stay up on its own, but had to be held up. When we checked out, we learned that left luggage at this hotel is not stored in a separate room, let alone a locked room. We were simply instructed to leave our luggage along a wall in the hotel lobby. The luggage was not all tagged, and we received no receipt for having left our bags. Front desk staff were mostly very friendly. (But they haven't fully figured out how to check you belong in the hotel in a friendly manner - especially when you don't need a key to go to your room when someone else is already there). We didn't try the hotel's breakfast, but there is a great bakery next store. The wifi cut in and out - it was not reliable enough for streaming or zoom sessions, but was fine for email and web surfing.
Good value for money. Small clean room, spacious bathrooms, great walking area. Bakery next door was amazing.
Great location with a metro station only a couple of minutes walk away, also a lovely little bakery next door which was fantastic in the morning. Room was clean but a little on the smaller side, and thin walls, but overall good central hotel.
Very disappointing experience overall
I booked a solo room, and I was stuck with room 3 on the ground floor, which was essentially the maintenance room that was converted into a guest room! The room was dark, dingy and smelled like wet laundry/sweat. The layout of the bathroom was the dead giveaway as I could barely slither through to the dark shower (which was clearly where one would clean a mop). Although the staff was resigned to giving me a new room for the next nights, it was too frustrating of an experience to stay. And the manager aggressively insisted that he would charge me for an additional night if I left. I understand the policy but there was no attempt to reconcile whatsoever. For the price, you will find many better options in the area. I’m not usually very picky and I was surprised at how disappointed I was about the whole situation.
Good location , good service
Fantastic stay. Great location. Carpet could do with a deep clean. Room very clean and tidy. Train delayed got to hotel 1.10am no problems staff excellent
Great location, staff very friendly and the room it was amazingly clean 👏 Downside it was the weird noise from the pipes during the day till late night! Not sure this issue it affects all the rooms or it was only mine in particular (7th floor).
Excellent hotel. Would recommend
Staff was very nice! We were upgraded to a room with two bathrooms which was awesome! We didn't have neighbors, so our room was quiet in that sense, but at around 6:00 am, we could hear and feel the subway running below. The bakery next to the hotel is outstanding. I would definitely stay here again.
Room smells like mold. The shower wets the bathroom floor. Breakfast is rather basic.
Pleasant 2-star Hotel in the Marais
This is a very friendly 2-star hotel in the Marais district. It is very reasonably priced for this part of the city. The location is excellent, just minutes from Place de la Republique, the shops and cafes of Rue de Bretagne, and Place de la Bastille. Minutes from multiple metro stops. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but on the small side and may be tight for two people with suitcases. Note that there is no air-conditioning. Staff is very friendly and helpful with directions, reservations, or anything else needed. The continental breakfast is good and reasonably priced.
Staff were extremely helpful and provide very good suggestions on restaurants in the local area.
This hotel was really an amazing experience! The staff at the front desk are all so nice and polite and helpful. They were always ready with advice or suggestions and even helped us find a nail salon when my nail broke! We didn't eat breakfast there so we don't know how it was but they always had water and croissants in the morning. The room is small but you don't need it to be big anyway since most of the day is spent outside discovering the city. The housecleaning service is really good! Everyday we would come back to clean beds and bathroom. Overall we had a great stay. It's clean, nice and in an amazing location!
So clean, staff very helpful and close to metro, restaurants and grocery but a little tight on space.
Good little hotel
Great location, lots of good restaurants around, la marais at walking distance, very friendly staff: we had agreat time.
Nice
The hotel is located in an area full of restaurants and bustling nightlife. The hotel staff was nice and welcoming. The hotel was without air conditioning, and because we fell on a really hot weekend it was terrible, the rooms were small with a little smell of mildew that was a bit disappointing The general experience was fine
Would recommend and stay again.
We stayed at the hotel for 3 days. The check was super easy.We were greeted by Peter who was friendly and very professional. He was able to answer questions and give us directions to a local laundry and several local veggie/vegan restaurants. The room was basic with a generous sized ensuite that even had a bathtub. The windows opened up into a quiet courtyard. The room also had a desktop fan which kept us cool at night. We both slept so well! It was about a 5 minute walk to the metro. There were several places to eat and shop within a 5-10 minute walk.
The location was fantastic. Rooms are small but good. Staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast coffee was not great - from a machine.
Great for solo stay/first time!
All in all very great experience for the price especially for a Paris first-timer! I arrived hours before check in time, and was luckily told my room would be ready in about 30 mins. They kindly held my luggage while I grabbed some lunch around the corner where there is a complete street of amazing local restaurants waiting to be tried. Every reception desk tenant was kind and offered to give some local tips and were able to speak English when my french was not very good (which was all the time). On the weekends there were amazing street vendors just a few blocks away. Amazing cafe's steps away as well. Marais neighborhood is so great especially for an authentic but still safe experience. Metro was so close! Also I had a view of the city street and it was everything I had ever pictured from every "vision" of Paris in my mind. Loved the sounds of the street at night as well. Highly recommend for solo stay and or couples! Only downfall was the elevator stopped working my last few days--it was a bummer bc of course the staircase was narrow but wasn't that awful as I was out most of the day anyway. Great room if you're looking to be in the Marais district, which I'm so glad I was. The Wifi would sometimes go in and out which created the only other slight difficulty, but eventually it would come back.
Concern
Most of my experience was fine to excellent with the hotel. There was one desk manager who was not a kind, friendly person. In fact anytime I asked him anything he seemed irritated that I was bothering him. Everyone else with the hotel were very helpful.
Great hotel in great location
American hotel
Great staff. Very kind and helpful.
Thumbs up to Hotel Americain in Paris
The female hotel clerk was absolutely the best! Warm, heartfelt greetings from her when we checked in, each morning and when we entered the hotel. Very helpful with directions, riding the metro, etc. The room was on the small side and the large sink had little space for toiletries, but all else was excellent. For the value, would certainly stay there again. The best bakery was the next shop to left of the hotel.
This was our 4th time to stay at the hotel. It’s not fancy but we like the location. Close to the metro and easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. The bathrooms have been updated and the beds were comfortable enough. One big plus - the bakery next door is excellent.
Our room was so small we had very llittle mobility around our 2 twin beds that were squeezed together as a king. Very confining and continual slamming of adjoining room doors very loud.
Excellent location and service, tiny rooms.
Just two blocks from Place de la Republique, the location is great for street life (although Rue Charlot itself is quiet), restaurants, and transportation. The bathrooms were modern, the beds were comfortalbe, but the rooms were spare, mainly because they are so small. We just barely had enough room for our two medium-sized suitcases. (We stayed in two rooms for three days each, separated by a few days.) The front desk is manned 24 hours/day, and the clerks were friendly and helpful. The breakfast room downstairs is a pretty, barrel-vaulted stone room. Buffet breakfast is strictly French: baguettes, croissants, bread with toaster, cheese, fruit, yogurt, juices, and hard-boiled eggs. Good coffee and other hot drinks from a brewing machine sort of like a Keurig only much bigger, and you don't have to mess with little cups. Overall a good value if you don't mind the size of the rooms.
Good budget hotel
It's a good budget hotel. Good enough for crashing for one night. Probably not the type of hotel you want to pick for a business trip or a holiday. But for the price, it was good. Wifi could have been better. Needs a bit of renovation.
Perfect location
Location was perfect. Few blocks to the metro, bakery right outside of the hotel, at the end of the block had a cafe. Room was one flight up no elevator, but will be staying there next time.
Very friendly and helpful desk staff. Very good for the price & convenient for the Marais and the 3rd.
Great location
Great location, friendly local people. Rooms a little small if staying longer than a few nights.
Vacation
Was an older hotel. We forgot items in room and they kept for us to pick up. Great customer service
Good location - clean - but very impractical
Nice location - bed are very good - the room was very small - the bathroom missing hooks and shelves the only place you can put stuff are in the sink, very uncomfortable.
Great Value!
This is a wonderful hotel if you need a clean, quiet, comfortable place to stay in a great location for very little money. The room is not luxurious and you may want to bring your own soap/cleansers and shampoo. There are no wash cloths, only towels. But the room was very well laid out and in very good condition. The breakfast room is nice, although the croissants are a but industrial and the coffee is out of a machine. They charge breakfast seperately,a very reasonable 8 euros, so you can eat at a nearby cafe if you want. The hotel is not at all seedy or run down - I would stay there agian.
When in Paris...
This hotel is convenient. The rooms are small but when you are in Paris, who wants to stay in a hotel room all day? The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. They went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Terrific folks.
The rooms are small but very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a short walk to the Republique Metro station.
Convenient location
Clean, quiet hotel with very good beds close to metro and shopping. Room and bathroom were only slightly larger than a typical RV bedroom and bathroom and no comfortable chair. Internet was extremely slow and frustrating.
Well-located
Incredibly well-located, particularly for the metro. Wifi not a dream, and space perhaps a bit cramped, but who cares? What are people doing visiting Paris and sitting on their computers in their hotel rooms?! Great, great place to launch from and staff all friendly
Great location
Ideal for a brief stopover in a great area with easy access to Eurostar. Don't expect luxury - rooms are very small, but clean and comfy.
Good Value Hotel in the centre of Paris.
Really nice, value for money hotel in the centre of paris, located in Le Marais (a great area to explore). Ideal if you don't want to spend too much money on a higher star rating hotel and is far better than expected for a two star. The perfect hotel for a base at night as you'll be out and about all day anyway. Fantastic location, just two minutes walk from the place de la Republique where there are loads of great restaurants, shops and a supermarket too. There is also the Republique metro station which has links to multiple metro lines so you can get all over the city with ease, including the main tourist attractions like the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Notre Dame, Hotel De Ville, Champs Ellysees and more. The rooms are small (as standard for Paris) but not too small at all, there were three of us in a triple room and it was comfortable. Our Room had a bath, and a small balcony from which we could see the eiffel tower lit up at night. Room was cleaned frequently and we were given clean towels each day. Staff were friendly and offered to give directions to attractions. Also had luggage storage after checkout if you want to spend time out in the city before you leave for home. All in all a lovely budget hotel in a great location. Fantastic stay! :)
Great location nice neighborhood
The hotel and staff were nice the biggest problem was the size of the bathroom in my room it was very small.
Very friendly staff and very clean! I would highly recommend this hotel!
