Ideal base to explore Western Crete
Overlooking the Agean sea and the old city of Chania this place is true gem. Small family ran affair, with large rooms, good breakfast and amazing views. Slept with windows open, no problems with noise. 30min walk to the city center or 5 min drive. Kind, extremely helpfull host!
Host was so warm and welcoming felt very safe and was very clean overall would recommend to everyone
Lena was such a lovely host. Definitely recommend!
Lovely simple hotel with spectacular views of Chania and endless sea. The owners are the most welcoming wonderful people one could ever meet on the trip. Perfect breakfast on the terrace. We had a bottle of nice wine in the fridge waiting for us too. Would mind to come back again and again. Thanks so much Lena and Ilia for including us to Chania and your wonderful sincere hospitality.
Owners were very friendly and accommodating. Spacious rooms and nice breakfast. Easy access to nearby town. Highly recommend.
Beautiful place, well located Room clean and confortable
Hotel receptionist is very nice and helpful. Room has wonderful views. Free wine and local tea as gift are really impressive
Beautiful and comfortable
Very cozy and comfortable accommodations. Lena is extremely hospitable and helpful and the room was lovely. This was a beautiful hotel, we had great views, and felt very at-home here! Great place to rest your head after enjoying the city of Chania!
Lena, is an excellent host, friendly got a lovely warm personality, good knowledge of attractions and places to visit. Nothing is to much trouble for her if you have problems or issues. This property is value for money.all of there staff are excellent.
Wonderful Experience
Experience
Kastren Rooms is the best
The owners are exceptionally kind and helpful. They will make your stay special. I wish more hotel managers/owners were like the couple who owns hotel Akrotiri! And the view of the historic downtown and surrounding bay is breathtaking!
Lena and her husband made me feel so welcomed!! I enjoyed every second of it.
It was my first time to greece. Had such a bad experience at airport and with car rental. Reached out to Lena the owner of the hotel through expedia. She was very kind and accomodating. When we arrived the feeling of home overwhelmed us. Property overlooks a beautiful scene. Perfect views. Comfortable rooms, very clean. Her and her staff was was sincere and very helpful. Breakfast was really good. I cannot wait to come back. We had an early flight so was not able to properly say goodbye...but they left such an impression that we will be back. I highly recommend this hotel, not just for the views and the price but for the hospitality, cleanliness, and feeling of home. Thank you Lena and staff, much love melissa and stanley from the usa.
Nice little hotel
Nice and clean hotel, very friendly stuff and welcoming. I would stay longer if they have rooms available.
Traditional small Greek hotel
Lovely small traditional Greek hotel with amazing views over Chania. Would highly recommend a stay here. For those without own transport the number 11 bus stops very close to the hotel and you catch it across the road from the old market. Lena was very helpful with information and you will find genuine Greek hospitality here. The breakfast is good and on arrival you will find a complimentary bottle of wine and water in you room fridge on arrival!
I like a view, it is beautiful. I don't like traffic noise.
We had a lovely couples stay at Hotel Akrotiri. Lena was so kind and welcoming and her hotel was in perfect condition. The views over Chania were amazing and the breakfast included was lovely.
Lovely stay
I can’t say enough about this place! We booked it for our family summer trip last week and I honestly didn’t know what to expect because the price was so good, but to my surprise this hotel was great! It has the feeling of a bed and breakfast and it’s family owned. I felt like I was staying and my own family’s house. The staff is really nice and always trying to me your stay the best, the breakfast was just perfect and it’s served until 11am. The view is amazing, it may be the best view in Chania. I loved our experience there and I’ll definitely stay there next time.
Traditional Rooms with excellent cleanliness, care and furniture.
Gem of a hotel in amazing city
Amazing location owners soo helpful and very welcoming definitely return
Calm above the bustling city
Fantastic stay, we booked late in the evening as we had arrived in Chania town and found it too busy. The Akrotiri hotel was just outside the town and had the most amazing views over Chania towards the Lefka Oria mountains and the Kissimos peninsular. It was 7 minutes drive to a lovely little beach, about 5 minutes to the Venezelo tombs and 10 minutes away from the old town. The family run hotel was friendly and there was a nice breakfast and tea and coffee all day. The air-conditioning was brilliant, and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. It was lovely and clean in all areas and there were really nice decorative touches, old camera on a tripod and a telephone and some other lovely antique pieces.
Memorable Cretan welcome!
Faultless welcome from Lena and Elias, the owners. As well as all the listed expectations like the breakfast, wifi, space and quality, it's the little things that made it so special. Gluten-free bread (the best my wife had ever tasted) was provided, clean sheets and towels every day, water in the fridge, wine on arrival, and as much or as little interaction as you wanted. Although we hired a car ( through them), there's an inexpensive and reliable bus service stops 20 metres from the front door. In probably 15 trips to the Greek Islands, this place had the most complete offering. We will be back
Wonderful find with beautiful views, a lovely staff, and great rooms. If you're okay with staying further outside the city then definitely stay with them!
My third visit, and I'd go back again
I often stay here the night before heading home as it close to the airport and easier to catch early morning flights than where my long stay place is. Lena is so kind and helpful. I love being able to see the sunset over the sea, from the room or common area although I prefer to walk done 1/2 block to see it even better. The rooms are very clean and everything you need is provided. I would definitely stay again. If you have a car, this is a great spot, but otherwise there is not much with in walking distance. The bus line isn't too far at all though.
A beautiful place
We had a beautiful stay at Akrotiri hotel. The reviews here are great for a good reason. The hotel is located on a hill with a view on the city and the bay from above. The scenery is spectacular, our jaws literally dropped when we entered the room for the first time. We rushed back to our room every afternoon - the sunsets from there were the best show in town. (Not all rooms have sea view). Hotels' design is lovely, very Greek and authentic, white and blue everywhere. You can feel the owners touch in every detail. The owner Lena is amazing, she is a true hostess. She did everything she could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible, plus giving as recommendations to the best beaches and restaurants nearby. It's obvious that she loves her work. The hotel is impeccably clean, with a lot of light and space. The only disadvantages were the uncomfortable bed, we could feel the springs.. And we had to hold the shower in hand cause it didn't fit the holder. Overall - it was excellent! We would definitely recommend it to friend and return there if we have a chance.
Really nice
Wonderful people, great hotel - they couldn't do enough for me. Really great.
so helpful
we were delayed and hour and half, resulting in an arrival of 1am. the owners waited up for us and due to an early departure the next morning showed us how to unlock and leave and made sure there was some breakfast ready for us in the morning. thank you so much!!
Close to Airport
Very enjoyable. Hostess recommended a restaurant that was exceptional. Only two comments, hard bed, barking dog in neighborhood through the night.
Chania
Had a short break in Chania for our Anniversary. Service and all facilities were great and very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and comfortable with a beautiful view from the balcony
Fantastic service
Great stay!! Fantastic staff. About 4 km from city centre (4-5 Euro taking a taxi) Spacious rooms and great views from room balcony!
Beautiful view and friendly staff
We stayed at Akrotiri Hotel only one night on our way from the airport to the south of Crete. We didn't spend much time at the hotel but we really enjoyed it. The owner was very friendly, even in the short amount of time spent at the hotel she managed to help us in multiple occasions. The hotel is in a calm neighborhood, has a very nice view on Chania and the sea and it is of very easy access from the airport. Chania is also near (by car). The room is well maintained and clean. Bathroom is a bit odd and definitely old style, but since it is very clean this is not a problem and it gives a more unique character to the room. To sum up, very good place to stay if you want to be near Chania but don't want to be in the middle of the confusion of the center.
Great Hotel with Great Owner
Can't say enough good things about our stay here. Lena went above and beyond to help us with travel and directions and to make our stay great. They go out of their way to make the rooms comfortable and even leave a bottle of wine, slippers and a robe for everyone. Great view from the hotel and getting into town and to the beach was super easy on the bus. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!
FRIENDLY STAFF
THIS HOTEL IS REALLY NEAR TO THE AIRPORT, ONLY 10MINS DRIVE,I RESEARCH THE HOTELS IN THE AREA AND READ MANY REVIEWS AND WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED, THE STAFF WERE LOVELY AND THE VIEW FROM OUR ROOM OF CHANIA WAS FANTASTIC.THERE WAS LOVELY WHITE TOWELING ROBES AND SLIPPERS AND SWEETS ON THE TOWELS, ALSO 4 BOTTLES OF WATER IN THE FRIDGE AND A SMALL BOTTLE OF WINE AS A WELCOME,WHICH WAS A LOVELY TOUCH.THE BREAKFAST WAS USUAL CONTINENTAL AND YOU COULD HAVE IT ON THE OUTSIDE VERANDER WITH THE LOVELY VIEW.WE ASKED THEM TO BOOK A TAXI FOR US TO GO BACK TO THE AIRPORT AND THE OWNER SAID HE WOULD TAKE US,WHICH WE THOUGHT WAS REALLY NICE,THEY WERE LOVELY STAFF AND WE WOULD HAVE NO HESITATION IN BOOKING THIS HOTEL AGAIN WHEN WE GO BACK TO CRETE.THIS WAS I FIRST TIME IN CRETE AND WE LOVED IT AND CANT WAIT TO GO BACK.
Great sea views and friendly, helpful owners
After staying at a friend's home for 3 months on the island, I stayed here so I was closer to the airport for an early morning departure. The hotel lobby was nice, coffee and tea available at any time and breakfast served in the morning (which I didn't sample). Lena was helpful from the beginning of the reservation process all the way through my departure, taking care of a few other arrangements for me. I also spent a little while just chatting with she and her husband and they are lovely, hospitable people. The location is NOT near Old Town if that is what you are looking for, but near the main roads so getting around is easy.
This was a fantastic Family Hotel. Close to Chania and a 10 minute ride from the airport. The owner Lena was gracious and helpful for all of any needs you may have. She stayed up very late for our unusually late arrival and met us with complimentary wine and soft drinks in our room. We are definitely going back to this hotel for another vacation.
10/10 service. Enkel men god frokost.
View from the big balcony was amazing and Lena was a lovely host.

Hotel Akrotiri
Nice little hotel with great staff! Cleaning the rooms daily. The owner Lena and her husband Ilia were really friendly and helpful. They made our stay feel like home. Bus stop next to the hotel and wonderful views of the sea and the city. Grocery store next door. Heartfelt thanks for a great week to the hosts!
Todella siisti hotelli vuoren rinteessä josta ihana näkymä kaupunkiin.. Paikallisbussi 11 lähtee kaupunkiin 50 m päästä. Huoneistoon kuului iso parveke ja siivous toimi erittäin hyvin. Todella ystävällinen ja auttavainen omistaja " Lena " .
Meget bra service.
Fantastica permanenza
Personale gentilissimo. Camera spaziosa con vista sul mare. Fantastica permanenza
Stanza spaziosa e molto comoda e accogliente. Splendido panorama con vista mare. Ampio balcone. Stanza da letto bel climatizzata. Collocato vicino a un supermercato. Ci siamo trovati molto bene consiglio caldamente. La host è stata molto gentile e accogliente.😊
Great choice
Lovely staff, clean facilities and what a view from the room! Very pleased with the stay.
A fantastic hotel
The hotel owner is super kind and friendly and gave us all the informations about the sightseeings. Although the hotel is not in the city center, the car-drivers can however enjoy the best views of Chania city in the morning and evening fron the hill. One big supermarket LIDL is just one minutes far away by walking and you can get food and drink if you want to save money and enjoy the dinner on the balcony in the evening. The hotel room is very clean and comfortable and they do hygiene very well.

We loved the amazing view from our room and the breakfast balcony. The host really enjoys her guests and made us feel so welcome. Each day she would chat with us and share recommendations for things to do and helped with restaurant reservations.
