Average hotel with friendly staff. The location is incredibly good, a 10-minute walk to the Vatican. The parking situation is horrible though; you can count yourself lucky if you find anything near the hotel—parking on the side of the main roads is difficult. We had to park our car 700 meters away, but luckily, the car was untouched. The hotel room itself is quite run-down and old, with a strange smell. The blankets also smelled. Air conditioner use has to be paid for, which I have never seen or heard of before. A pricey stay overall, considering the lack of amenities, but the great location makes up for it.
The room was great! Quiet, clean and a couple blocks away from the Vatican. View from the window
We chose Hotel Adriatic due to the reviews and price point. We booked the hotel for 3 nights and stayed on the 4th floor. The staff was friendly with information regarding local food and bus questions. We felt, however that the room was very mediocre for the price. Toilet seat was missing a screw (another room was suggested which we looked at but had the same issue). Door to the “balcony” and entrance door was poor quality in opening and closing. The lack of cleanliness was also obvious throughout bathroom floor shower, and walls. Hair dryer was broken (although one was then provided from front end) also electrical outlet in bathroom was lose The mattress and pillow was comfortable.
Limited check in time is not convenient
Tv did not work. A c blows air but doesn’t cool the room down!
Walking distance to most of Rome attractions - probably around 20 mins walking
All good with property
The front desk receptionist was very nice and helpful with information of not only the surrounding area but of Rome in general, she also gave wonderful suggestions of restaurants for authentic italian cuisine
The hotel is close to the Vatican and is very safe. Also the surroundings are safe even at night time. The staff is amazing, they went above and beyond to accommodate me as I attended the Easter mass at the Vatican Love the place
Great location near the Vatican. Small, minimalist room but fine for us. helpful staff
Toilet may need to upgrade, should replace blankets with light color and upgrade the window to isolate the noise from outside.
Read happy with this hotel, stayed 3 nights, very quiet and clean. Excellent location for Vatican and restaurants. Highly recommend.
Nice staff. Reasonable price. Not a fancy accommodation but it is situated in the perfect spot.
Good place to stay! Helpful staff!
Really near the Vatican and reception was really nice and helpful
great location but the property a little worn down and no amenities at all (like a coffee pot).
We stayed here a total of five nights, four while in Rome then one night after going to Venice and before heading home. It is a two-star hotel with a great location to the Vatican (eight minute walk) and restaurants. The walk to the nearest metro station was 11 minutes. It had plenty of hot water to shower but we never could figure out the heating system. It never got cold in our room but having it warmer would have been nice. The toiletries are kept to a minimum so make sure to bring your own, like soap. If you want housekeeping, you'll have to request it the day before. The hotel felt safe and the staff was friendly. One great perk was being able to store our luggage there while we went to Venice. That was extremely helpful.
Great price for a basic room, somewhere to rest your head and feet after a long day exploring Rome
Walking distance of many places
Is perfect
Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was affordable and conveniently located near the Vatican and St. Peter's square. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. I would highly recommended this hotel for a stay in Rome.
Located close to many restaurants plus only blocks from the Vatican. Close to several bus stops and so easy to use. Front desk personnel were amazing, very helpful with restaurant suggestions and shared how walkable things are.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was small, but big enough and very clean. The only downside was our window was on a very busy and noisy street so we hardly slept the 3 nights we were there.
The location of this hotel could not be better. And the front desk staff is just amazing. The hotel is old but very adequate and I did not come to Rome to sit in my hotel room. I would absolutely stay here again.
Unexpected addition charges
They did not offer airport transportation, had to pay additional for the AC which is advertised they have AC an additional 10 euros per day.
I love the Receptionists lovely kind they speak more and 3 languages , very clean very close to go every where to the vaticano , to the bus take you every were … super recomended !
Good
The 4th floor was amazing close to the Vatican
Good location
Very happy with the room. Was close to Castel Sant'Angelo and Vatican City. Staff were very friendly. One thing - I had asked a member of staff to book a taxi for us going back to airport on 3rd October, but taxi didn't show up (however, I trust the taxi was booked). In the end, had to pay a whopping amount on an Uber taxi to get to airport on time.
Really great staff.
Walking distance to the Vatican City
Walking distance to the Vatican City.
Good location and secure property inside a private building.
The staff were wonderful to deal with. Room was a good size, clean, and loved our street view. Older place but you are in Rome so room sizes are smaller and different then Canada. We were there to experience to city and needed a bed, shower and washroom and it had all these things. We were happy we were walking distance to so many great sites.
Great location - close to the Vatican. A quick walk to other great sites in Rome. The room was clean and the outdoor patio was very nice. The bathroom is a good size, but the shower is a bit small. The staff was very helpful. Would recommend, especially if visiting the Vatican.
a/c didn't work, tv didn't work, they charged me 40 additional euro, but only accepted cash
I think the location was the best. We walked everywhere from the Vatican to the coliseum and to a coffee shop in the morning. We took the local bus from the airport and the stop was only a few blocks away.
Thank you Hotel Adriatic for having us
Walkable distance to Vatican, Sistine, and St.Peter's. Also to restaurants, shops and stores, and transpo stations. Staff were very helpful.
Excellent Location, staff very helpful and Friendly
Would be nice if there a kitchen
Walkable to many places. Staff was very helpful in how to get around. The room was clean. A little difficult to get around if you have a walker or wheelchair. There are a few stairs
Good location. For one or two nights is ok. A/c was not included and you have to pay extra.
Sabrina at the front desk was very helpful on check-in and making recommendations for travel, food etc. There is no dedicated shuttle to the airport from this hotel but there is a bus stop about 7-8 minute walk away. Buy tickets online for 7€ at sitbusshuttle.com Air conditioning is an extra 10€/night and barely functional. It varies from room to room. The room itself is barebones basic. No amenities beyond a small bottle of body wash per person. Coffee in lobby additional cost during operating hours of 8am to 8pm. Location was very good. Reasonably priced breakfast across the street as well as a small grocery store (cheaper than the small markets) Very short walking distance to Vatican and other famous landmarks as well as multiple restaurants, bars and shops. Over all an ok place on a budget. FYI, you will need an additional 5€ per person per night paid CASH ONLY for the City tax imposed on tourist.
Ok, près de beaucoup d'activités 5 minutes à pied.
Staff were very accommodating! They gave us a nicer room(s) when our air conditioning broke.
This Hotel is not 24 Hours Open ( Available for you Flying Delayed) Just Be careful went you Book this Hotel there close early if you fly is Delayed. your in the STREET , Sorry But it Happens to me. I never Book this Hotel again and not Air Conditioner in SUMMER.
Close to the Vatican and restaurants
was a very convenient area a few minutes walk from the vatican :)
AC was bad.
Hotel Adriatic was easy to find. The place was clean and simple with a little balcony. The access to the Terrace was a nice touch. Staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful with any questions. Elevator worked. The hotel is close to a Metro station (15 mins) and two buses (6-12 mins) that could take you into the colosseum and Trevi area, but honestly walkable with the right pair of shoes and weather conditions. *would highly recommend a bus from hotel to colosseum (and area) if starting your day early. The sun gets hot.* We did the walk as a big circle multiple times at different times of the day. Hotel was also a walkable distance from Trastevere area (30 min) which was nice for evenings.
The worst: They demand 10 Euro (cash only and the hotel refused to provide an itemized receipt) per day to have AC in the room. The charge was not reflected in the total price advertised on Expedia, and the total price was an important factor when I chose the hotel. No room cleaning on Saturday. Bathroom facilities very dated. Front desk staffed only until 8pm. Rooms small and not very clean. Very good location though.
The front desk staff was very kind and helpful. Thank you!
Honest review
Great reception service, very friendly. Beware extra fees for aircon and city taxes to be paid in cash. First time ever a hotel charges us extra for aircon. A bit shocking - should be in the hotel rate. Hard to know ahead of time. Perfect location near Vatican. Cleaning service used a very strong chemical that made us sick the first night. Slowly strong odor diminished. Room had a beautiful balcony (ashtray with leftover cigarettes on the floor). Beautiful view of the Roman sky. No frills stay. Would recommend it.
Everything was great
Great service, great location
Good Visit
Nice place.
The hotel is well located (approx. 10 mins. to the Ottavanio Metro station). Approx. 5-8 min. walk to the Vatican (depending on your route, there are multiple). The hotel staff (Sabrina) was excellent. Can't say enough good things about her. She was very helpful with everything. The rooms are very small. With 4 of us, there was minimal room to open our luggage (we had small suitcases). I think it's a shame that you have to pay an extra 10 euros per night for air conditioning during the Summer. Overall, we would stay there again if there were no options.
Our room was clean and bright with two window terraces which was quite lovely especially since the air conditioning in our room did not work. At night we had the windows open which cooled off our room. Please be advised air conditioning is an extra charge so be sure to request it when you make your reservation. I didn’t realize this until a day or two before we arrived.
Helpful desk clerk!
This place was a hearty upgrade from the backpackers I'd stayed in for the prior 3 nights. If you know what you're getting into before arriving, this place is fantastic. Sure, it's dated and not a traditional 'tourist hotel' - but it's surrounded by an authentic Rome experience, some great dinner spots and touristy sights. If you can catch a bus, this place has pretty direct lines to more central areas, and the lady at reception is awesome! I would bring a first-timer to Rome here so they get a real slice of Rome without being extremely isolated
Very basic hotel. Room only. Great central location. Noisy as on main road. Roof terrace was great
Great location. You can walk everywhere
Walking fistance to Vatican City and Hop-on Hop-off bus stop.
I recommend Hotel Adriatic to anyone staying in Rome! I left my AirPod when I checked out and the hotel staff was kind enough to help ship my missing item to another country. Very thankful for Hotel Adriatic!
Very small , very hard mattress and pillow , no shampoo or soap , for the AC you should pay 10 every day! No cleaning service , the only good thing is close to vatican and sant angelo
The location was convenient for what we wanted to do and see.
This hotel interior isn’t the newest or nicest but the receptionist stayed an hr and half for us to check in when we had a late flight and that means a lot. She also gave great recommendations with sights and food, they have excellent service no question and should be a good spot to sleep and shower when in Rome on a budget. Also no refrigerator in rooms and eating in the rooms is against the rules.
Excellent place to stay, staff was amazing. Within walking distance of great attractions…Rome is beautiful 😊
Very convenient
Fantastic budget choice and super convenient for Vatican City and Metro. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Don't book if you are expecting 4* luxury on a 2* budget! This hotel though was very clean,(old but functional) spacious enough and a great place to stay if you are ok with not having all the bells and whistles, read the material on AC and check-in times etc before you book, they are explained. Great value for what you get. 10/10 Recommended. LOVED OUR STAY HERE. Stuart Australia
A good location. Very close to Vatican City
Location was great! Walking distance to most places..staff was great however be aware of front office hours..elevator was great to see..German restaurant next door was really good too
worst place to be at. I arrived at the hotel which is locked from outside and no one attends to open the door. I kept waiting otuside on the road for 2 hours and someone helped me to get in who were residents above the hotel. When i reached the reception they had a closed board with no information on how to access to the rooms. worst experience and expedia doesn't help in any way for this. worst hotel and even worst expedia service.
Very handy location close to Vatican City. An art deco building, small room and limited amenities but worth it for the location.
Convenient place . A little small room for 4 people
I enjoyed the rooftop deck, and I just really liked the neighborhood— I felt like I lived in Rome!
It was very cozy and comfortable
Housekeeping was substandard.
Really well placed to explore Rome and the Vatican, and for the price I cannot complain too much about the state of the rooms - wardrobe was falling apart a bit and very annoying dripping noise coming from behind the wall where the next room's bathroom was placed. Aircon unit was also installed but turned off and clearly not to be used, which meant the window was open and all the noise from the street came in at night. However, any dissatisfaction I might have was completed negated by the strength of water pressure in the shower - never had water pressure like it! It was amazing! I think I am properly clean for the first time in my life - my kids wanted another go because they loved it! The staff were helpful and the rooftop terrace a treat to sit out at night and enjoy the evening. In short: enjoy the shower, bring earplugs
Excellently located for the Vatican City: busy but very nice, hospitable and convenient area two blocks away from the beautiful Via del Canceliotora leading right into St.Pieters Square. Convenience stores just steps away, shopping in walking distance extending over a large area. Plenty fantastic and lovely dining the next streets over and all around. Homely and interestingly lovely old world hotel atmosphere, clean and rather safe. But elevator is not fully accessible and the hotel is not for the luxury oriented. Rooms and bathrooms are clean but very small, no safe, no ironing, limited storage. We did have a nice balcony, and besides described challenges very much enjoyed our stay in the beautiful city.
Hotel was convenient. Staff very helpful & informative. They took time to meet our needs so we booked again before we left Rome.
Great location but many noise and you can’t sleep good
We stayed there in 2014 and came back August 7 and 8 2023 because the location is really good. We found that it was exactly the same. Zero improvement even though it was in need 9 years ago. Wifi was like dial-up, didn't work most of the time. Whoever heard of no food or drink in your room? What's wrong with a coffee or glass of wine. Paying extra for air - what? There were no soap or shampoo. Everything was worn out. Threadbare. Bought two "large" cups of coffee at the front desk. Got two small plastic glasses with a mouthful of coffee in each. No cream or milk available. Receptionist said "sugar or nothing". Hate to see the small cup. This place should not have hotel status, at best it is a hostel.
Great location close to the Vatican
The location is perfect, room is clean, although they need to upgrade their bathroom tiles and fixtures. Otherwise, our stay is perfect. The staff are friendly and efficient.
Great location
Vert convenient location but the decor was very dated. Had to pay for air conditioning, quite unheard of and we've traveled all over. Noisy neighbours. Staff was lovely.
Service was always nice and welcoming. Room was large and nice.
I had a great time staying at this hotel.
The staff was uniformly helpful and friendly. The property lists air conditioning as an amenity, with no asterisk indicating it is an extra cost. 5 pages lower it mentions that cost, but I strongly feel it should be listed in the amenity page, just like a non-free breakfast is indicated. Rome in the summer requires AC. Elevators exist, but they stop between floors, so you have to walk up or down to get to your floor . . . with luggage.
The location of the hotel is great, you are a 5 minutes walk from the Vatican, I will say tho, the room we got stuck with came with a broken outlet, which was unfortunate. You also have to pay for the AC which I guess I get, make your money, but also, maybe just add the AC cost to the total. You can’t eat or drink in the rooms which I thought was strange. Even tho the rooms say they are sound proof, they aren’t, my neighbors were throwing up the one morning and I heard them. Other than that, it’s a good cheap spot to stay at and the location really is incredible.
Small dated family room
Small family room, 10 EUR extra to use poorly working aircon
Its a good hotel for its value and walking distance to the Vatican City and convenience stores nearby. There are also scooters to access if you need it.
The property is TERRIBLE. The room and especially the bathroom was so small that a nine year old child would have had a very difficult time using it. Stayed for FIVE nights and the bed sheets were NEVER changed. Charged for the use of the air conditioner $16 per day!!!!! In the middle of a heat wave, CROOKS. I would not recommend this property at all to anyone and Expedia should drop it from its lists. This property should not have a single star never mind two!!!!!
Front desk went above and beyond to help us and answer our questions. Location was perfect.
Basic hotel but expected it for the price. However, location is amazing as central to everything and all the staff were fantastic!
Ok location, we were able to visit everything by walking! Stuff was nice too! They should invest in better windows, it can be noisy..
I would give it more starts if I could ! Beautiful place, close to many importants landmarks, restaurants, etc. clean, safe, with AC, and the staff was so nice and kind.

This hotel was in a great area. 10-15m to the Vatican. Our shuttle from the airport dropped us off close by. MondiCaffe is across the street which is a great place tp people watch and get a nibble/bubbles. We also found a rooftop restaurant near by which was fun!
