Cost effective. We are satisfied.

We did not like the room space it was so very small for four beds, also they did not say in expedia that you need to pick up the room keys in another location, they do not have front desk at this location.

Great location with provably 6-10 options for food and drink within a stone's throw and what seems like a million more in a short walk. The downside, don't expect any sleep before 3am as there are pubs right below the rooms.

Filthy. Expedia should be ashamed to list this property. I will be asking for refund!!

Hostel Matheu is a part of a bigger hostel chain called Victoria 4. You still need to check in at that location if you want to stay at the other hostel. The staff are very friendly and know Spanish and English. The location itself is around a bunch of restaurants and shopping. It is also about a 12 minute walk to the palace. I only got to stay here for one night, but it did the trick!

Great Location and very accessible to the Puerta del Sol

Very basic room in the heart of the gothic quarter. Very easy access areas around Madrid. Only negative is the noise I'd say. Our room faced the street which was noisy all night long with people, a dance club, trash pick up etc going on. But for the price and location it was good for us; take a noise machine with you and you'll be alright

Muy buena ubicación! Habitación muy básica, pero limpia, un poco ruidoso dentro del hostal se escucha cuando la gente camina por el pasillo, pero seguro me volvería a quedar allí mismo.

If you want to experience "La Fiesta" around the Madrid area, this is the place to stay. If you are planning to rest, you better look for another option. This hostal is located around a lot of rest & bars and you will be hearing, music, people talking and laughing loud all night even if the doors and windows are closed. For the purpose of my trip, the place met my needs.

Very noisy neighborhood with bar under the hostel so very loud. Parties until 6 am.

Great location. Very clean. Inspite of being located in the dining and pubs area, quiet at night. Easy and quick check in. Friendly staff.

At first, was put off but worked for us. When got there, climbed stairs with luggage (no elevator). Then told to get key from another place - argh! Luckily, hotel is steps aways. Room was small - 3 twin beds but clean. Place is in middle of many restaurants and festive actions. double windows dampened noise. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Well maintained property in the heart of the Puerto Sol area, close to everything, with friendly staff. Met our basic needs, but wouldn't be in my top list of choices on a return trip. Only 1 key for a room designed for 4 adults; AC only so-so; and WIFI never worked.

The room was small no lounge no lift lots of stairs . Good position lots of nice places to eat . Close to metro station and taxis. Very clean beds comfortable. I appreciate it was new year but very over priced .

Amazing staff, very helpful with everything from hotel to questions about the area and provided some great suggestions on what to do and where to eat and the best way to get to where we needed to. The hostel is located steps from the main tourist area and yet far enough that you don't hear any noise. I would recommend this place.

It is centrally located but the noise from the night club and the surrounding streets can be problematic

Decent hotel in an excellent location

For those who are seeking for a decent stay in the center of Madrid with limited budget, this hotel is a good choice. Clean room, friendly staff. Wall might be thin as you could hear people talk outside the room, but it didn't bother us much.

It was nice and quiet for my one-night stay... I wish I could have had a later check out and an earlier check-in.

Great place right in the centre near salt. Great restaurants around and vibrant pumping nightlife bars open until 4 a.m. nearby but the hostel has 2 times double glazing so you can't hear a thing

A nice stay with the family. Great location. Breakfast was continental (one item per person) not a buffet. Still overall good.

Very nice rooms for the price. We stayed with a room facing a busy street so was quite noisy at night.

So-so experience

Pros: The woman who works during the day is very friendly. The location is great for sightseeing, as it's right in Puerta del Sol. Overall, the hostal, while very basic, is kept very clean. Cons: DO NOT stay here if you are a light sleeper. Especially if placed in room 3 or 4. They face out on the street and since it's right in Puerta del Sol, you can hear the music and people partying all night long (until 6 am). I was also quite disappointed because I had emailed the hostal a couple of weeks before my arrival to request a double bed since I was meeting my SO in Madrid for the weekend, but was told only that they would see what they could do. When I arrived, I was told that there were no double beds available. I felt like they had not attempted to grant my request at all.

Location and cleanest, however the building does not have an elevator, and that turned into a problem for me.

Great budget place near puerta del sol

Stayed with 2 mates. It's right in the middle of town a short walk from puerta del sol. Wifi worked great. Lots of restaurants and bars around which is nice, but it can be a bit noisy. Great rooms and service. We got it on sale so it was well worth it, only 40 euros a night for 3 of us

Bustling with life !!

The hotel is located in the middle of Puerta del Sol, a very lively location. It bursts with life at night with all the pubs around, but there are two layers of window panels to help keep out most of the noise. Location is great, able to get to attractions easily. Rooms are very clean and cozy, but the bathroom is a little bit too cramped. Staff is very polite and helpful. The hostel does not provide hot water, so you can't make your own tea or coffee. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and will definitely come back.

Situación excelente, en pleno centro. Limpieza bien. No funciona el aire acondicionado, la tv totalmente desprogramada y con el uso del mando solo funciona a 5 cm de distancia. Insonorización excelente.

Exel.lent ubicació! Habitació, senzilla per passar una estada curta. Cal repasar alguns detalls de l'habitació que denoten deixadesa, el màneg de la porta del bany cau, algún troç de paper de la paret es veu desenganxat o manca repasar la pintura. Però tot i això ha estat ideal per la nostra visita en família a Madrid!

Nada recomendable

El hotel es muy malo en general, lo único rescatable fue la chica del check in en la noche, una habitación vieja si, pero podría haberse rescatado, pero no! El ruido es insoportable, la gente entra azotando la puerta, gritando, borracha y haciendo escándalos, y nadie les dice nada, porque no hay nadie para decirles algo, pedimos un cambio de habitácion y nos la dieron, pero la habitación no la limpiaron como tal, una toalla y una de las camas sucias y tenían rastros de cabellos, olían a sudor las almohadas, la verdad es un fiasco este lugar, nada nada recomendable.nunca nos limpiaron la habitación, y eso que lo reportamos.

El motel está genial, muy céntrico. El aire acondicionado sí que funciona, y no se oye tanto ruido como ponía en los comentarios. Las habitaciones tienen doble cristal y está bien aislado. Las chicas de recepción y limpieza encantadoras cualquier con cosa que he necesitado me han ayudado. Repetiré si vuelvo

Camas muy comodas

El alojamiento solo tiene una cosa buena y es la ubicación. Aunque también es cierto que al ser una entreplanta es muy ruidosa. La habitación es muy pequeña y está muy sucio. El mantenimiento y el acceso al establecimiento es muy mediocre.

Bonito el lugar donde esta ubicado cerca de todo pero deberian de cuidar mas los detalles porque no es un hostal barato.

Posizione spettacolare, ma non può bastare. Camera tripla minuscola, per poter passare dall'altra parte della camera, bisognava passare radenti al muro. Io sono uno che ama l'essenzialità e non ama troppi fronzoli ma qui è troppo. Nessuno alla reception, in nessun orario del giorno e della notte, il check-in va fatto nel vicino hotel Victoria, aria condizionata senza telecomando, la temperatura te la imposta un ragazzo che fa le pulizie, non c'è un telefono in camera, non c'è un frigo bar tanto che alcune cose comprate ho dovuto lasciarle conservare alla reception dell'hotel Victoria. Insomma, nonostante la posizione fantastica, una scelta che non rifarei.

Es la primera planta de un edificio compartido. La recepción se hace en el hotel victoria 4 que está unos pasos más adelante. Aconsejo aparcar en parking Santa Ana antes de ir al hotel,son calles donde no se puede aparcar. Está muy céntrico y andando y en metro visitas todo sin problemas. Todas las calles con muchos negocios y cerca de un 100 montaditos en definitiva opción de precios. El desayuno se hace en el victoria a precios muy buenos para lo que hay en el barrio y comer te hacen descuento por estar allí hospedado. Hemos pasado unos días perfectos y contentos con todo. Hemos estado en las habitaciones 9 y 10 y eso que dicen de ruidos solo un pequeño sonido a música, nada que no se soporte. Lo único que no me ha gustado es que el parking el último día salimos en 16 horas y me cobraron la tarifa del día entero,pero si quieres aparcar cerca es lo que hay. Repetiría sin problemas

Al check in ci è stata data un camera senza finestre , dopo le nostre proteste abbiamo avuto quella con finestre come da prenotazione, camera più piccola rispetto a quella prenotata , scarsa pulizia , in check in si fa in un altra struttura

Buen lugar pero no es para nada tranquilo

El hostal tiene buenas instalaciones y está ubicado en un lugar céntrico. Estuvo todo Perfecto con las instalaciones pero no es una habitación insonorizada y al estar arriba de bares y restaurantes se escucha todo.

Me gusto la ubicacion, la instalaciones comodas y confortables. El buffet excelente.

Viaje en familia con mi madre y mi hija, muchos escalones que subir para mi madre, pues no hay elevador, ubicacion excelente, desayuno incluido y compmeto, habitaciones reducidas, en general bien para dormicerca de todo lo turistico en Madrid.

Estuvimls bastante bien, cogimos la tarifa con desayuno incluido y el desayuno esta bastante completo, tuvimls que dejar un poco antes la habitacion, pero no hubo ningun problema La ubicacion es excelente, solo que hay bastante ruido en la calle, de ahi en mas todo bien

Chambre donne sur une rue trop bruyant jusqu'à 3h du matin , clim commander par l hotel chambre glacée les serviettes sont changées qu a 50% il y a 1 seul chaine de tele pas de frigo dans la chambre, nous avons eut beaucoup de mal a trouver l entree de l hotel car c est un immeuble transformer en hotel il faut chercher les clefs de l l'immeuble a l hotel victoria a 500 m ceci est indiquée nul part . Malgre tout cela hotel bien placé en plein centre ville personnel sympa.

Dit is een hotel voor jongeren, die alleen gaan om te slapen . Dit hotel past niet bij ons als echtpaar. De service was uitstekend men zag zelf dat dit niet voor ons geschikt was en we werden de volgende morgen met hun hulp overgebracht naar hotel Espaje, een onderdeel van het hotel!

Es un hostal que está muy bien pero por la noche se escucha un poco de ruido de la gente que está de fiesta, por todo lo otro una maravilla.

Muito bem localizado, próximo a Praça do Sol, em uma rua com muitos restaurantes. Sem Elevador. Quarto pequeno, porém limpo e com tudo funcionando. Café da manhã muito bom. Barulho só de alguns hóspedes no corredor

Bien ubicado y cerca de todo

Al comienzo tuvimos un problemón pues llegamos y el hotel está cerrado. Según ellos había un cartel pero ya no está. El hotel que se está usando está 40 metros aprox y se llama distinto. Obviamente pasamos el susto de nuestras vidas pues nos vimos en la calle y sin saber para donde coger Por suerte todo se solucionó y el personal super amable y nos ayudaron en lo que necesitamos y el hotel como tal está en buenas condiciones.
