Location soo good. Friendly reception.

Very close to Plaza Mayor and other attractions. Metro is less than 5 minutes away. Very clean and many eating options around. Would stay again!

Excellent place in one of the most fun places in central Madrid. There are numerous quality restaurants, shops and theatres nearby. There’s also a taxi stand around the corner. The staff is also very nice and helpful. Check-in is a breeze and mosh of all, the room was very clean and cozy. It’s also very safe. I recommend it and will not hesitate to stay again.

The staff was cheerful and helpful, the location was just what we needed, very convenient and close to the meteo.

Room had three single beds so was convenient. The bathroom was a little small but adequate. Noise from the busy street below but the wooden shutters muffled most of it. Great for a couple nights stay. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Very good budget hotel in central Madrid

This is very good budget hotel close to the Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor in central Madrid. The reception area, on the ground floor, is attractive and the staff are very pleasant. We had a triple room, which was reasonably spacious, very clean and freshly decorated. Our reservation was that it was rather stark, and would have benefitted from some decorative features and softer lighting. The bathroom was a bit cramped. There was a fridge, which was useful, and it wasn't at all noisy. The room looked out on to the street, which is mainly pedestrian. It was quite noisy in the evening with people going past but not too bad.

Perfect location from which to explore Madrid! Walking distance to everything important (stores, restaurants, and transpo) One block from Puerta Del Sol plaza and 2 blocks from Plaza Mayor! Would stay there again next time! Tho its a no frills hostel, its the perfect place to crash and sleep and do nothing else, so dont expect any luxuries. But You wont find a better location anywhere in Madrid!!

Nice, clean hotel in a central location

Very nice hotel in a great location. The check in process was easy with very friendly receptionists. We were able to drop our luggage off before check in since we arrived early to Madrid. The room was a nice size and had a mini fridge which was very helpful. Our room was on a busy street so earplugs help for sleeping.

Convenient, clean, and exactly as advertised. A suggestion would be to add a 2nd trash can in the room as the trash can in the bathroom is very small.

It is in the heart of where you want to be in Madrid. Noisy at night, but who sleeps early in Spain?

the reception upgraded our room to a 3 bedroom apartment … it was great and spacious. the only negative side is the old elevator that brings us to our apartment… it was a real old building elevator that would fit only ine person. we ended up using the stairs

Bare bones place as you would expect, but very clean, comfortable and a super kind and helpful staff.

Location, Location, Location. An ideal hotel for those who just need a clean, comfortable bed and bathroom. Perfectly location between Plaza Mayor and Puerta de Sol with easy access to taxi stand and Metro. I was surprised by the modern elevator and cool AC. It was also surprising that there was staff at front desk 24 hrs. Staff was friendly and helpful. I will recommend it. For the price it is hard to beat.

The location is convenient to save you money!!!

The hotel is staffed by some of the friendliest people we've encountered for several years we had traveled in foreign countries. Special mention to John, Luis, and most especially Melissa, who not only assisted us in booking us an extra night at the hotel after our trip to Segovia -- all via the WhatsApp app their hotel extensively uses to access the hotel door and room door. This might not be the most classy, and feature-rich 3-star hotel you will find on the Internet. But it's always how the staff treats you with your request and assistance - when you're in a foreign country. The rooms are at par with what you pay; the bathrooms may be too small for US standards, but the location more than pays for itself as it is conveniently next to the Plaza Mayor of Madrid and the Metro light-rail train station (Sol Station), shops & restaurants are all just a few yards from the hotel. We will use the same hotel if the opportunity presents itself that we will be back in Madrid in the near future!

Great find in Madrid centre

We were looking for a hotel in Madrid centre and found Hostal Madrid.......in a great spot, near Sol....... friendly, efficient staff. Room not large but had everything we needed. Clean and comfortable. The renovation in this building has been sympathetic to building 's history but now has modern touch. No in room phone so we were provided with a knock on our door for a wake up call for our early morning flight........ great service.

The Hostal is located centrally in Madrid. Service and courtesy are top notch.

Good place to stay

Correct welcome upon arrival with some accommodation tips. Excellent location and comfortable room. We miss complementary bathrooms items such extra body shop, disposable cups, extra or bigger trash can in the room.

Overrated hostal; there are better hostals for the price.

Great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. It’s just a very noisy building. The hallway noise goes right through the walls, as doed the noise and chatter across the inner patio. Bad acoustics for guests.

We loved staying at this Hostel. It is just off of Plaza Major so we parked in the parking garage for the Plaza. It was quiet an comfortable. It was larger than we expected. Nice bathroom attached. There were plenty of pillows and the beds were comfortable.

Hostal Madrid is right in the middle of everything. If you are looking for a place to sleep and explore this wonderful city this is the place for you. The rooms are small but clean and have everything you need if you are exploring the city. They are a great price for where you are. The staff were wonderful, I arrived early and was able to drop off my bag, which was in my room when I returned. The pictures are reflective of the Hostal. Lisa

The staff were super helpful and friendly, John and Melissa at the front desk were great. Location was central and my room was kept clean and the door opening app was pretty cool. A fridge in the room would be nice but there are convenience stores metres away

A gem...

While the single room I had was very basic and spare, it was extremely clean, the necessaries were all there, and the mattress and pillows exceptionally comfortable -- could have happily slept on them for weeks. Inside, the old brick and stone walls preserved in the modern renovation were charming. The staff were welcoming and helpful without being saccharine. The location was everything one could want -- on a small side street away from the major avenues, steps from the old Plaza Mayor, amidst plentiful shops and restaurants, and within a 15 minute walk of the museums and the rest of the center. I look forward to staying there again.

Excellent central location, no views from the room

Location is excellent in the middle of Sol. Room larger than I expected, however the bathroom is tiny. Found the room a bit on the bare side. No view from the room at all. I arrived early and they let me drop of my bag and then left it in the room when the room waa ready.

The hotel was in a perfect location, right near Sol. The room was quiet and had air conditioning, which was great in the hot summer weather. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Location, location, location.

Nice clean and comfortable room, but the real attraction is the location a few steps from the Plaza Mayor and some wonderful restaurants and tapas bars. Sol Metro station is also just a few steps away, 24-hour convenience store next door, and (don't be judgemental) McDonalds is just across the street, and is the only place we found to get something to eat and/or coffee until real restaurants open at 9:00 or 10:00. If you are an early riser you will appreciate this. Altogether this is a good choice in Madrid.

location is perfect,some staff helpful. check out is 12nn and if you leave luggage with them you pay Eur1/baggage. no hot water for coffee/noodles. wifi ok, has a downtime but can be fixed fast. can recommend restos to eat

I was happy to see that I was in the midst of a wonderful pedestrian area filled with history, food and stores. Also had a small balcony in my room that is quite charming.

Hostel Madrid was good. We had a double room. Very clean, the room was on the smaller side but fit 2 people with 4 suitcases comfortably, the bathroom was ver compact but clean. Shower small but had great water pressure, overall a good budget hotel room close to plaza mayor and all tourist areas.

Location is perfect. A little noisy at night because of garbage collection. If you can deep sleep, you will not feel it. Otherwise, you knew it. Overall worth the price you paid

Nice property! Best location for tourists! the front desk staff helped to make reservation for next morning taxi to airport as 30 euros, however the taxi driver charged me 35 euros later. Seems not honest taxi driver.

Excellent location and price

Very good location just 1 min walk from Mayor exit of Sol Metro station. Very close to Puerta del Sol and within 15-20 mins walk to all main attractions like The Palace, Nuseo Prado, Reina Sofia, Retiro Park and others. Simple but cozy hostal located at centro area with very reasonable rate. Will definitely return in my next visit.

Great location and clean!

Right in the middle of center city Sol area but still quiet. Got a free upgrade and the room was clean and recently updated. Highly recommend as this place is better than hotels at a much higher rate.

We love Hostal Madrid, me and my family love it. The employees are courteous and very helpful. The room is always kept clean. The location is great, very close to the subway, restaurants, stores and walking distance to so many sightseeing areas (e.g. Retiro Park etc). Burger King is right there across Hostal Madrid while McDonald is right around the corner. While my husband enjoyed McDonald and Burger King, our daughter and I enjoyed the Spanish restaurants all around the area. We strongly recommend Hostal Madrid and will tell relatives and friends to stay at Hostal Madrid when they visit Madrid.
