Muy buena ubicación, a unos minutos de la estación de metro Gran Vía. El cuarto aunque muy chico es muy cómodo y limpio.

Property was a cool old building that unfortunately was lacking some maintenance! Room was OK and it was clean but things needed repairs. Signage could be better at the door explaining where check in was located. The young lady who checked us in was very pleasant and kind! Cheers and Gracia! Mike and Ally 🇨🇦

Simple, affordable hotel, conveniently located.

The single room is very compact (I'd go as far as saying the photos are misleading), with windows facing the building's ventilation shaft. Although the bed is a bit uncomfortable, the room provides all necessary amenities, and the hostel is conveniently located. It offers good value for the cost.

Good location near buses, metro and train stations.

I really enjoyed my stay here. It’s a great location. Not all the staff speaks English, but some do. They are nice, and were very helpful whenever I had questions. I really liked my stay in Madrid, and Hostal La Fontana helped me enjoy everything!

Good size room, good location, close to transport

Gay Madrid !

Roxanna and Ouda were very kind and helpful to us. Very central location to Chueca area, bars, restaurants and shopping. A few minutes to Gran Via where the HopOn HopOff bus stops.

As a hostel is very good, we took a room with private bathroom and was ok. The ubication was perfect near to everything. I liked the breakfast. The tv was very small.

Close to all city sites. Room basic but served purpose. No tea making facilities. Staff would give my waif boiling water when she wanted it though.

Loved the hotel. The staff was lovely. The rooms were clean. The only problema was that breakfast started too late so we often couldnot take adventage of it because we had to leave early for tourist activities.

Modest hostell but brilliant situation

All I needed was in this hostell, situation was important to me. Main street was just behind the corner but nice bittoresk old streets were close too. Breakfast and specially coffee at the hostell was important to me first in the morning. Staff was helpful.

Cheap centrally based hotel

I found this hotel by chance on Expedia website. I liked the look of it , location and the fact that breakfast was included, which is not always the case in hotels in Madrid even those with more stars. I was given the choice on arrival of a street facing room with a balcony or a courtyard facing one. I chose the street facing as I like the buzz of the street life in Madrid. It was noisy but excellent double glazing dulled everything down and I was pleased with my choice. The street below is busy until very late particularly at weekends due to there being bars, cafes and restaurants. My room was small but adequate with small en suite facilities. There were no frills, but I not looking for them. Space for hanging clothes was limited and only a shelf for small items.. The heating was very efficient but overwhelming as it is centrally controlled. Even in the cold weather I found it too much. In summer there is a overhead electric fan rather than air con. I tried it and found it to be very efficient a surprisingly quiet. Breakfast is pre-packed with good quality fresh coffee and hot milk, fresh apples and oranges. It is served from 8.30 onwards but can only accommodate eight people at a time and is served in the hall corridor. I had no problems getting a seat. The entrance to the hotel is via a large wooden door opened with an electronic card through a magnificent period hallway and is situated on the first floor. There is a small lift. I thought the hotel was quirky.

Cute little hostel in the heart of busy Madrid

In the heart of Madrid's "Times Square" it's just far enough off the main street where you don't hear noise all night. Breakfast is good to fill up before visiting all the tourist sites. Very clean and close to most subways. Staff was incredibly helpful with check-in and other things we needed during our stay.

Great location, Good Hostel

It was very cozy and amazing location!! You can't beat this location. The room was a little dirty when we arrived. The bed sheets looked used and had hair all over them, and the towels smelled like cigarettes. The bathroom was shared, but there was no issue, make sure you wait a while so the water heats up or you'll freeze. Overall its very doable. the price was great and we saw all of Madrid because the walking distance was basically nothing and you were in the middle of everything. The staff was very friendly. Lastly, the wifi stopped working our last night so we were kind of shut off from the world as service was bad there.

Very good value for price. Staff were very helpful and polite. Customer service was excellent. Overall a pleasant stay. Would recommend.

Excellent Value but Maintenance Issues

Overall it was just alright. The staff was exceptionally nice and the location was good. There was one guy who spoke excellent English and even the people who didn't tried hard to communicate. However, the condition of the hotel was very very old. The shower in my room was plugged and did not drain. After watching them use draino (very chemically smelling) and a plunger and watching dirty gross water spill everywhere. I opted to shower in the communal shower even though I had paid a few Euro more to have a shower in my room. The walls were super thin so you can hear everything from someone watching tv to talking to laughing at a tv program. The breakfast was better then expected. It included coffee, toast, packaged breads, fruit, yogurt, and granola bars. The hotel was very inexpensive and the fact that it included breakfast made it an incredible deal. It was a very good value :)

Great central location in the heart of Madrid

The Hostel was a little bit hard to find with Google maps but after asking several locals we were finally able to locate it. The rooms are small but perfectly adequate. The continental breakfast was great. Far better than we expected. Staff were very helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

Centrally located.

Made double hotel reservation with single flight reservation, we ended up with a tiny room, single bed. An extra 5 lbs on my frame, using the toilet & shower would have been impossible.

Not sure about it

We decided on this place because of the price and the location. The service was wonderful, and everyone was very friendly. The place itself, however , could do with a coat of paint. It looked run down. As for a location, it is very central and convenient. There are bars on this street that close at 4 am!!!!. It was extremely noisy, people were stoned in front of the entrance, and extremely loud. I couldn't understand why in Spain, where bread is amazing, we were served dreadful sliced bread, and pre-packed buns! Whatever!

Give this a Miss

The hostel offers only a bed and very basic facilities, if you're ok with that then this is ideal for you. The walls are paper thin, so you can hear everything that is going on in the hallway and neighbouring bedrooms. The toilet was so close to the sink that I had to sit on it sideways. Don't take the breakfast option, it's only coffee and dried toast. I asked a room with shower facilities and that is what I got but it hadn't been cleaned properly, so I found body hair (I'll leave it your imagination from which part of the body) on the wall. All in all there are better option out there, I suggest you pass on this one and take your chances else where.

nosy room

You can hear everything from other rooms. You can hear people snoring. You can hear people having sex. You can hear people watching TV. You can hear people having little chat in their room. It's just to nosy to have good stay.

Cheap and basic but in great location. Maybe a bit too basic for us.

Great value, friendly and very convenient

Great value hotel less than a minute walk from Gran Via Metro station. Excellent free wifi and the bonus of a 'help yourself' breakfast (cereal bars, yoghurt, pan au chocolat, croissants, coffee and juice) served till 11.30- set us up for the day! 12 o'clock check out was handy too. Only downsides; not much natural light in our room( not really a problem as we used the room as a base to explore the city) the bathroom was a little worn and the walls were quite thin - not a problem for us but might be for others. Apart from a little neighbour noise ( the odd cough and bang of door) our room was set at the back so no street noise - really quiet. Our hosts were really friendly and check in was perfect. I would definitely return!

Good location at good price

Good price for the location!

Really helpful staff, clean room! Perfect for a cheap hotel, obviously you get what you pay for so don't expect too much, but we had no problems with it. Only thing was breakfast was a bit naff and probably would be better off going to the supermarket and getting a loaf of bread. Overall though would recommend.

Not a bad hotel

I stayed there alone for a few days. No air conditioning but other than that no issues. They held my luggage until I could check in.

Old fashioned and hot

Nice hostal in the center of Madrid. The interior looks old-fashioned, but I liked it. The staff is friendly. The room has a little balcony that is good for people watching. You have your own keys from all entrance doors that is also a plus. The big minus is the absence of AC which cause the problem during 40 degree summer days. Another minus is a street noise that never goes away because of the central location of the hostal.

Just don't!

Dreadful place! Room with no daylight, lots of noise from the bar below and the constant reek of cigarette smoke as a result of the staff smoking on the premises. The hot tap on the basin in the bathroom just dripped all night and couldn't be turned on or off. And the breakfast was awful - just don't do it.

simple but arty

A simple hostal but decorated with a whimsical touch a lot of artwork in the hallways and the rooms made it a bit less basic . bed was comfy but shower was hard to use. I think it was designed to cut back on water usage and in the morning I opted for a sponge bath at the sink rather than struggle again with shower but maybe it was just the one in my room. Decent free breakfast of good coffee croissants toasts cheese wedges and yoghurt. I liked the place.

Great for solo travellers

I had a single room and it was very nice - although usually I stay at hostels with a much lower price point, I understand that this location was very prime and was a little more expensive.

Nice hostal but can be noisy

The location is perfect, just a few steps from metro Gran Via. The interior decoration (corridor and rooms) is tasteful. The staff is nice, in particular the super friendly young Romanian guy, Giorgia. Wifi is bad sometimes. Water does not drain well in the shower. Like in most hostals I've seen, noise is a big negative factor, and walls are paper-thin. When one has quiet neighbors, it can be a pleasant stay. I made two stays here, during my first stay, my "neighbor" was very noisy, coughing all the time (he was probably sick) and watching TV on high volume until 6AM -- I was totally unable to sleep. Impossible to change to another room coz the hostal was full, according to the staff I talked to. During my second stay, my neighbor was quiet, so it was quite a nice stay. Strangely, plumbing makes incredibly loud noise. When someone takes a shower nearby, the noise is stunning, the first time I heard it, I thought the TV in my room had gone crazy.

Very good accommodation at a very good price

Very convenient accommodation in the heart of the city. Many shops, cafes and restaurants within walking distance plus a Metro station just outside the hostel. Rooms are clean and comfortable, can't ask for more really, especially at such good prices.

I loved this little hotel/hostal.

Cozy and comfortable. Had a street side balcony which I always prefer because I enjoy the street life of a city but has great shutters to keep out the noise if you like quiet. Enjoyed the breakfast and breakfast room. Great location, close to Gran Via ,short walk to del Sol and Plaza Major areas If you are a walker ,Prado ,Reina Sophia and Atocha train station are within about 20 min walk. Would love to stay here again. Great value for the money

Would return

Excellent location and price. Equivalent to being two minutes walk from Oxford Street. Two minutes from metro. Staff very helpful. Very clean. Continental breakfast from 8.30am. Good cafe almost next door if you need an alternative. Cons shower too small and difficult to use. Check it. Take something to boil water if you want a drink as nothing provided. Thin walls.

It was a lovely place and the staffs were good. The problem I am a deaf traveller and found it as a challenge because there's an intercom outside the door, which made it more difficult to get in on my first arrival but everything's good. The location was excellent, easy to access to the metro, shops and restaurants etc.

Madrid- Good location

Good location, within walking distance of many sights. Near a subway stop. Staff was very nice and helpful. The room was very small, no chair to sit on but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The doors and shutters shut out the street noise so it was fairly quiet at night. Thick walls- could not hear anyone in other rooms. The neighborhood was a little sketchy but we still felt safe and only a block or two from major streets. We had a nice stay there.

Well priced hotel in good location. when we checked in, we were given a room w/out bath. I went back and checked reservation. It said the room came with a bath. Hotel said they didn't have any more of these rooms but would move us tomorrow. They said economy room comes with bath down hall. Hotels.com needs to get straight on this. were moved the next day into room with bathroom. But we spent one night in very cramped quarters with no bath when reservation. Pleasant, helpful hotel personnel..

Great place

Being just a few doors down from the Grand Via puts you near everything. There are several great places to eat, a small tienda and the Metro. The rooms are a bit noisy but a pair of earplugs (usual for any Spanish hostel) quiets down the noise. Great staff too. The hostal is on fl1(2nd fl for the us) and has a lift. Rooms are a bit small but very livable and clean. Has a morning coffee and a light breakfast. *****Note most areas of Madrid have many pickpockets and putas. Avoid eye contact on the street with single woman and protect yourself with a money belt.

Hotel Review

The hotel's location was excellent in terms of accessing central Madrid and the underground railway network. The hotel was spotlessly clean with helpful staff. Our room was brightly decorated giving a bright appearance. The walls of the bedroom and corridor didn't prevent noise penetrating from adjacent areas or services meaning that disturbances occurred.

Clean room, noisy street

The room was small but clean and in good condition. The street it's on can be very noisy all night even on weekdays, and as there's no a/c we had to keep the window open. It's a good place to stay if you're not a light sleeper.

El olor de todo el hostal era muy insoportable a viejo y a humedad, aparentaba mirarse limpio y así lo fue, excepto por el olor y los ruidos raros que se escucharon toda la noche, como si quisieran abrir las cerraduraa con un alambre

La calefacción centralizada del establecimiento no se podía apagar. Por la noche hacía mucho calor en la habitación. Por el resto, estuvo muy bien. Muy muy céntrico.

No está mal para quedarse poco tiempo y lo bueno es que está muy bien ubicado.

Laut Internet soll spanisch und englisch gesprochen werden, leider nur spanisch. Beim Einchecken wurde man gefragt per google Übersetzer wie man bezahlen möchte. Der Gesamtbetrag wurde bereits bezahlt. Die Wände sind sehr hellhörig. Nachts wird geklingelt wovon man aufwacht. Man hört das Schnarchen anderer Bewohner. Bei der Dusche war die Duschwand nur einteilig vorhanden, bei Berührung ist es einem entgegen gefallen. Schlechte Luft da nur kleine Tür am Zimmer zum Lüften. Der Fußboden kaputt und dadurch sehr uneben. Es waren Fließen die teilweise gebrochen waren.

La struttura si trova a 2 minuti a piedi dalla fermata metro Granvia. La camera singola molto piccola, senza aria condizionata è molto semplice. Per un soggiorno di una notte considerando il prezzo pagato ci sta. Personale gentile e disponibile

Es la segunda vez que estoy en un hostal y se valora que tengan cuartos con privacidad y su propio baño, para estar un par de noches en Madrid está muy bien y están a una cuadra de gran vía todo muy a la mano.

Mas que genial, super

Un excelente lugar, sencillo aunque con todas las comodidades necesarias. Limpieza perfecta, personal agradable y atento. Es un lugar muy centrico, todo cerca, todo a mano. La cama es cómoda y es un lugar tranquilo. Lo recomiendo en especial para viajes en solitario, o parejas. Es mi segunda estancia en La Fontana y en unos dias haré la tercera.

Buena relación precio - calidad

El lugar es muy limpio, es un edificio antiguo asique tiene deterióro normal de un edificio viejo. Tiene ascensor que es un pro, la persona de recepción muy bien predispuesta. Lugar tranquilo, y ubicación perfecta en plena Gran vía. Cama cómoda, es un dormitorio muy pequeño pero tiene lo Justo y necesario.

トイレ・シャワー付きの一人部屋に宿泊 ◆良かった点 ・一人部屋 ・部屋にトイレ・シャワーがついている ・朝食がついている ・スタッフが親切 ◆悪かった点 ・最寄りのGran Via駅が工事中で利用できなかった（2020年2月時点） ・建物が古く、清潔感がない ・建物の鍵、ホテル入口の鍵、部屋の鍵と３つの鍵を管理する必要があり、面倒くさい ・朝食がしょぼい ・シャワーのお湯が出るのに３分くらいかかる ・洗面台のお湯が出ない ・壁が薄く、隣室の騒音がうるさい ・部屋に鍵をかけるのにコツが必要 ・部屋に鍵をかけて出かけても、帰ってくると部屋の鍵が空いていた（ベッドメイキングしたスタッフが鍵を閉め忘れている） ・部屋に貴重品入れ等がない ・３泊してもタオルを交換してくれなかった

Ottima posizione, buona sistemazione

Posizione ottima per Malasaña/Gran Via/Sol. Nonostante la zona centrale le camere non danno sulla strada e quindi il rumore é molto contenuto. Pulizia buona ma struttura non recentissima, manutenzione consigliata. La cosa peggiore (e non so se si applichi solo alla mia camera o a tutte) ma la posizione del sanitario era troppo vicina al lavandino, risulta davvero scomodo da usare.

숙소에 건조세탁된다고 했지만 세탁기자체가 고장과 뜨거운물 중간에 끝겨서 감기걸림 너무지저분해서 잠도 안오는지경이네요 돈은 제일 비싼집이네요

Lite lyhört, fantastiskt läge

Muy básico y sin expectativas por favor

Reservé habitación sencilla 1 persona y en las fotos me mostraban una habitación mejor, la realidad fue muy distinta pero me acomodé. Tiene lo básico y está bien, pero no deberían engañar así pues es la expectativa mayor que se tiene, la que baja la calificación final. La regadera no tenía agua caliente y me tocó llamar a las 6:30am a la persona de recepción, pero no había nadie aún y cuando fui hasta allá para buscar a alguien, salió una señora y casi me pega, estaba de mucho mal caracter porque le pedí su ayuda. Fue hasta la habitación y la regadera sacó agua caliente después de casi 10 minutos de dejarla correr a alta presión, una verdadera calamidad ecológica esto!. Cuando hice check out del hotel, a las 7:30am la señora estaba en pijama haciendo el recien el desayuno, yo había pagado el desayuno en el valor de la habitación pero no dijeron que el desayuno tenía horario de brunch, es decir, super tarde, me tocó irme sin tomar nada. Mal servicio en general.

BENE MA NON BENISSIMO

Posto molto comodo perché in pieno centro di Madrid. Ci avevano detto che sarebbero venuti a pulire e a sistemare la stanza ogni 2/3 giorni ma questo non è mai accaduto. Tuttavia le condizioni igieniche sono sufficienti e la stanza è tutto sommato comoda.

Simple stay okay

If you are looking for a simple and economic stay in Madrid, this place is a good choice. Basic and okay, staff with good service attitude. Good, central location. Maintenance is not the best. Electrical installations are not proper functioning, water leaks in the bath room. Simple should not mean that installation and furniture is not taken proper care of. This has affected the overall image.

Great location but thin walls

Perfect location, nice staff but the walls are Soooo thin! No sound isolation at all :( So a lot of noice from the corridor. If you are sensitive to noice, choose a place with thicker walls 😊

Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sind zu Fuß Erreichbar. Allerdings ist es Abends sehr laut. Wenn Ihr Oropax mitnehmt passt alles. Lage ist einfach Top. Frühstück bestand aus ungetoastetstes Toast, Zwieback und verpackte Küchlein und Muffins. Aber zu essen gibt es in Madrid genug. Wenn ihr günstig in einer Top Lage sein wollt das ist es genau das richtige.

El personal es amable y servicial. El lugar es básico y sus servicios también lo son (desayuno, shampoo, jabón). La habitación que me tocó requería algunas reparaciones (la puerta de la ducha estaba rota), la limpieza se podría mejorar. La ropa de cama y las toallas se deberían renovar. Lo bueno es que tiene ascensor, otros lugares similares no lo tienen. El espacio para desayunar muy pequeño.
