Excellent location, place super clean the cleaning lady did great job every single day, the guy at the reception was super nice welcoming and friendly, downside was very loud if your are by the street on a weekend there is party all night long … it is walkable to every point of interest …

Location was excellent. Quiet room with balcony. Excellent service provided by the front desk person, Israel. Took one star off the quality of bath towels but issue was minor. Quite happy with our stay.

Staff worked late to check in

This place has everything you need for a basic stay at a low cost. Good service, clean, good showers and a high quality bed. It doesn’t have premium amenities but it’s a low price in a great location. The only real issue was that the walls are extremely thin and you can easily hear everything going on in the hall or in other rooms

It was a great little place for an overnight stay before traveloing onward. The room was very clean, staff friendly and helpful and beds especially comfortable.

The staff were helpful and accommodating. The area was very active during the late evening, but it was expected for there are tons of things to do. We absolutely loved our stay at The Hostal Hispano. Highly recommend to any traveler.

Close to gran via, but in the street there are some noisy bars and it does not feels to safe to walk at night

The staff were excellent, especially Israel - he went out of his way to help me! The room was very clean & modern & the area in Madrid was fantastic. It was also very safe with a code entry from the street and in the internal doors. The only negative was that I was woken at 2-3am on two of my nights by the guests in the next room who were talking very loudly. They were reminded of the quiet rule, but didn’t seem to care. So it wasn’t the staff’s fault - they were just inconsiderate guests.

We were extremely UNHAPPY with the choice to stay at Gran Via. The BEST parts: the lady who checked us in was lovely. Online check in was easy enough for uploading documents. The room was very clean and the hotel is in the middle of plenty of options for dining, and all other fun things. It's a great location. The WORST THINGS: We had ONE night of decent sleep. You can hear EVERYTHING. There is nobody on duty outside of their posted hours and so nobody to monitor the constant noise in the hall. We had an interior room so this was NOT street traffic. There is no insulation or something. You can hear the room next door brushing their teeth. So obviously you can hear EVERYTHING thats coming from the hall. Even a knock down the hall sounds like its your room. We had no sleep, in turn that strained our trip. At night, be warned that the taxis will have a hard time getting here and will drop you off randomly. Its walkable, so count on doing a lot of that. I was very happy for a comfortable bed and for the proximity to everything. Outside of hearing everything, this is not the place for picky people nor tall people. The toilet puts your knees at the wall, and im 5'5". The shower/tub is half the size of standard. I don't mind any of that, but the lack of quiet in the middle of the night was ultimately why I'll never stay here again.

A little awkward to find but people were great to work with and were very helpful. Very traditional neighborhood but very close to main sights, subways and eating places. If you don’t need four star lodging and just want a clean bed this place is great. Very small bathroom but we would definitely stay here again without reservation.

Room was drab but it was clean. It was good we got there before staff left as check in after hours is via a kiosk and didn’t work for our type of reservation. I’m not sure why.

The rooms have shutters and to make it quieter from street noise, lower them to create a dead air space. This will not stop noise from the thin walls, something our neighbours should have realized as they had a loud and long late night tryst. We felt we were there…

Is a nice property to stay even when the room is small,only myselfx i wasnt feel like claustrophobic. Excelente para una o dos personas super localizada y conveniente si no busca lujos.

The hostal is located in a very busy street so you have restaurants, stores and metro stations all over. It's very convenient because you can walk to most places. The really bad thing is that our bathroom smelled TERRIBLE. We had to buy an air freshner and even then it didn't help. It smelled like a really dirty public toilet. Plus, the installations were not in the best shape.

People help a lot with everything tanks

This was a great property, felt very safe and was very clean. Great area of Madrid too, so central with so many places within walking distance and really good access to the metro too. My only concern was how thin the walls were, if you are a light sleeper you will hear every noise your neighbours in the rooms next to you are making, even if they’re not being noisy. For example, I could hear people getting text messages or their alarms waking them up in the morning! However if you remember to bring earplugs it was a perfect stay 👍

Everything was fine except the pillows were hard.

It was a fabulous location and the hotel was really clean. The staff were lovely. The only downside was that the website publicized an in room safe which was not true. There was none. This was disappointing but otherwise a fab stay

Great location

Good air conditioning and clean. Very friendly staff. One morning the pipes were making a loud squealing noise from people that were taking a shower either next-door or upstairs, but apart from that it was quiet. Very conveniently located.

Amazing staff, very conveniently located

I had a great stay at the hostel, although the fact that the room only has electricity while you keep the room's key inserted in a breaker means you can't charge any devices while away. This is weird and a little inconvenient. The location is excellent, the balcony is cute, the water pressure was very good. It's a hostel, so the amenities are not luxurious: the soap works quite well and is gentle, but comes from a public bathroom dispenser, and the one outlet in the bedroom is right in the center of the bed. Staff was responsive when checking in and very helpful and friendly.

The staff was amazing! They both spoke English really well. They were welcoming, helpful, and helped us purchase train tickets with instructions on where to go. My only suggestion would be the sign outside. It’s a little small and missed the door the first. All in all, this is a great place to stay.

Great area for a first timer to Spain. Easy access to Metro, walkable to all major sights in Central Madrid. Good value compared to other spots in Central Madrid.

Great stay overall, incredibly easy yet safe to get in and out of the building with a key card and pin pad. You need to unlock three doors to get into your room, which left us with ease regarding safety. The front desk receptionist was wonderful, incredibly helpful and kind. Would definitely recommend!

hostel to avoid

I stayed in this hostel for 7 nights. The other problem I encountered was with the limited reception work hours. I arrived at about 23 pm and my given number of registration did not work in their automatic system, so I could not get the access card to the floor and room in that system, after a long travel no one would like to find troubles with the room to stay. Then I forgot the access card inside the room outside the reception hours and had a trouble again. The chair in the room had 3 normal legs and one bending, which I asked to replace. It was replaced with a tiny stool for a couple of days, then the faulty chair came back again. It was replaced after my second request with a tiny stool with again 3 good legs and one bending sideways. The linen was changed once and I did not notice that the towels were changed at all. I would not stay in that hostel again

Too small!!! They sacrificed space for money and quality so crazy, even no free bottle water and one cup, small table size like a plant supporter. Even no quilt once. Small elevator only for two persons...Be prepared, that you can't see those with their pictures on the web...

NOT WHAT EXPECTED. NOT BAD BUT KIND OF BASIC AND UNCOMFORTABLE BECAUSE OF THE LITTLE SPACE.

The front desk and Taff was very helpful and friendly. Israel greeted us in a very warmed way, he made us feel safe and welcomed. We moved our stay and will return.

Some staff were helpful and kind. One of the female front desk employees was stern, abrupt, and not really helpful specifically if you would ask help specifically if you were robbed. Lost your cellphone and wallet and nobody to turn too. I find she was really harsh and unprofessional. The facility also lack computer that the guest can use in times of emergency. Also a telephone that you can call internationally.

Great location and reasonably priced.

The property is in an excellent location for restaurants, coffee bars, and sightseeing. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed and hot shower. The wifi is great. The downside was the lack of sleep due to noise outside and inside. There was roadwork outside our window with jackhammering every morning at 8:00. It is understandably out of the hotel's control. However, the walls and doors in the room are incredibly thin. We could hear every sound and clearly distinguish conversations from the room next door and the hallway. Other reviews have noted the thin walls.

Excellent location for shops, bars and restaurants. Within walking distance from moat tourist attractions. Exceptionally clean with all you could ask for available, hairdryer, towels etc in foyer. Very friendly reception staff and housekeeping did an excellent job. Would definitely stay again on my next visit to Madrid.

Very small and uncomfortable rooms and the bathroom even worst. Do not recommend

The room was too small. Alot of family with kids. The kids were loud, crying all night - we could hear it because the walls were too thin. It was hard to go to sleep. After 9pm, there were no staff available to help if you need anything.

Everything was great, not my first time there, however not a good choice on winter time! They never connected the heating on the pm hours regarding my complaints; I left there with a cold due to they negligence! I have to stay in the room with a winter hat and sweater since it was from 0-4 degrees and night and no heat! They have nice blankets but the rooms was cold as ice… again I stay my last days and left with a flu due to the no heat conditions! Very uncomfortable and no good for your health!

Place is right on Hortaleza Street in Chueca area. Close to everything. The check in. Process was fine and when my room was ready they sent me a text to advise me of it since I flew in to Madrid in the morning.

Sinceramente no me gustó hospedarme ahí. Las paredes son muy finas y puedes escuchar los que están al lado. Me tocó por el lado del balcón y también se escuchaba todo desde afuera. También las cortinas son muy finas y la luz entra casi como si no tuviera. Si me gustó que es muy céntrico, estaba limpio(reservé una habitación con baño privado), y espacioso para una persona. Es primera vez que me quedé en un hostal, no sé si sea normal los contras. Así que le doy un 3/5.

Ok, convenient location

Walls are thin. Could hear someone in another room snore all night. Had to run a white noise app. Overall, the place was clean, but I did notice a stain on a sheet. It had been washed, but must have been stained permanently. They really should just throw that out.

The property has an excellent location with plenty of opportunities for dinning, shopping and entertainment. I recommended, Acoustic isolation needs significant improvements: you can a lot from neighboring rooms. A trash bin in the bedroom would be nice and trash bags.

Super clean room and a spacious bathroom. It's not close to the main attractions. But close to Barcelona Sans station and easy access to public transportation. Great value for the price!

Líbila se nám lokalita, všude jsme to měli celkem blízko. Na recepci vstřícná obsluha. Nelíbila se nám hlučnost v noci. Také na začátku komplikace s navigací na ubytování. Zaslané info nás zavedlo jinam, bylo nutné řešit navigaci přes telefon.

conveniently located near the center of Madrid

It is very very close to the Gran Via, which I really liked about it and there are convenience stores in the first floor. I will stay again in this property.
