I liked its location, attentiveness by the staff but the hostal needs some upkeep
It was like a home. Personal care. Couch by the fire.
Not too big. Friendly and helpful staff. Was a bit hard for the taxi driver to find.
A Small Pleasant Hotel in Quito
Hotel is an eight minute walk from a nightlife/restaurant district, which means the hotel is quiet.for sleeping. It's a $5.00 taxi ride to/from old town or the teleferico up the mountain. Its a half-hour $25.00 US cab ride from Quito's new airport (only $20.00 for the return if you save your inbound receipt and call that number). Small, quiet hotel with nice staff. Pablo was especially helpful and kind.
Very central location convenient to things in the newer city. Excellent restaurants nearby. Pablo, the concierge, was extremely helpful in organizing taxis for us and giving information about where we should go. We would definitely stay here again.
Visit
Kind people. Nice location. Little outdated
Great place with friendly and helpful staff. Good location
We stayed here while we looked for a galapagos tour. Staff were very helpful and professional. Really glad we stayed here
Great value for money.
Very nice atmosphere. I felt like I was in England. Great furniture, cozy fireplace. Good value for money. Safety box key requires a deposit of 20. Breakfast cost extra.
Very comfortable stay. Hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating. Great location and quiet.
Nice hotel. Quite, clean, comfortable.
The hotel was very comfortable and clean. The staff was excellent. The food was amazing, specially the soups, fish and chocolate dessert. Breakfast was delicious. I had a wonderful time. I definitely will come back to this hotel.
Very pleasant cute hotel
5 stars for everything. Clean, comfortable, good location -walking distance to point of interests, the staff is very helpful and welcoming. The decoration is great, feels like you are staying at you rich grandparents house. Rabbit is cute!
HELPFUL STAFF
THEY RESEARCHED A GROUP I WORKED WITH 18 YEARS AGO. THEY IMMEDIATELY FIXED WHATEVER WAS WRONG. THEY WERE LIKE FRIENDS.
Very helpful, friendly and gracious staff!! Located in the Mariscal area, walking distance to Plaza Foch. Felt very safe as visitors/guests need to be buzzed in. Charming, old style hotel. Rooms are a small but comfortable and include filtered water and safe (just a $20 refundable deposit required). Continental style buffet breakfast (fruit, bread, yogurt, cereal) with eggs provided on request. Highly recommend this place. The staff are the best!
It was a good choice we liked this place. Great customer service.
Seven Day Quito Visit.
Great Experience. Perfect location. Wonderful staff. Good food, Room a little smallish. WIFI slow. I would recommend staying here even with the small room. The common areas are beautiful. The staff is most helpful directing you to historical Quito sights, Very Safe.
Room me are gone, but I really liked the other rooms. I wish I was there when they had a fire in the parlor area!
Nice central hotel in Old Town Quito
Friendly, helpful staff, went out of their way to ensure you had a good stay. The hotel has a nice roof top restaurant, the view is great. Laundry service was ok. Staff spoke English and Spanish. Would stay here again.
Good place to stay
Central to all the sights with comfortable rooms and friendly and helpful staff particularly on front desk. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend and return.
Not a hotel but better in some ways...
Excellent staff. Good location and quiet. Quaint and homey common rooms. Bathrooms are outdated but considering where you are, not bad.
Review
Staff was great in helping arrange day tours. Loved the rabbit - Brownie Small Courtyard very nice
Nice Place
Awesome staff & great location.
Wonderful stay! We love this hotel, this was our third stay here. William and the other concierge are so kind and helpful.
nice hotel
friendly and helpful staff
An oasis in a busy city, charming, attentive, very good.
Cozy hotel in the city near restaurants
We stayed at Hostal La Rabida for 2 nights in a triple room. Room and bathroom was spacious and very comfortable. It was clean and in the back where there was a small garden. We were only woken up on the last night by guests who checked into the room late at night. It was also in walking distance to restaurants and in the morning for a fee you could enjoy a nice breakfast in their cozy dining room. Would recommend it and stay there again myself.
Damp and cold room with a tiny heater that didn't do much. The staff provided good service though.
Boutique feel for a hotel in the heart of New Town
While the name may say "hostel", it really felt like a boutique hotel where entire staff welcomed you and helped us get taxis, plan for airport travel, stored our bag, made delicious simple breakfast. The room was small, but very comfortable and we slept very well. The common spaces, including a fireplace room, library, and dining area, were comfortable places to relax and catch up on emails and phone calls. Great value place.
pleasant quiet location near Mariscal
Great staff. Nice place in quiet location. Short walk to Mariscal and dozens of restaurants and a good market. Long walk to old town - but very pleasant. Inexpensive tax ride back home.
Boutique style with great homely appeal.
Second visit to this location. I had booked a different room via this site but on arrival discovered room #1 was available and asked if I may switch. This posed no problems and was handled in no time. The fire in the sitting area is so cozy and inviting. I have enjoyed both my visits and the staff and service has been top notch.
Nice friendly hotel close to restaurants
Good service, quite comfortable room. Note: Some of the rooms will be noisy for the next several months (hopefully only during the day) as they are building a 4 story apartment block right next door!
walkable connection to the City of Quito
The Hostel de la Rabida was a good place to rest on Quito. The staff were very respectful and accommodating.
Nice hotel with excellent staff support.
The staff really go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. Close to shopping in new town Quito.
Nice place but has some issues
The rooms were clean and comfortable and it is in a good location, however, the outside rooms have no exit access at night and we couldn't get to the foyer for our early morning transfer to the airport. There is also no number for reception in the rooms. The cost of a transfer to and from the airport is almost double the standard rate. Better to book a transfer through the airport.
Cozy hotel near town
Staff was very accommodating, working to ready my room for early check-in when I arrived. Held my bags while I went shopping. Gave me a map of the area and explained how to get to the mall.
Excellent little hotel with GREAT service!
We loved staying at La Rabida. Clean, well-run, friendly, with a excellent restaurant with very fair prices (steak dinner for $12!) Best of all was the fantastic service provided by hosts Pablo and William. They took care of all of our needs, taxis, reservations, even booking another hotel for us when they were full for one night, and handling the charges on their own bill so we wouldn't have to bother paying the other hotel. They even managed to find us the perfect private tour guide and van for a full-day outing at 8am one morning, with a departure at 9am(an otherwise impossible task!) We would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.
Boutique hotel close to bike shop
We had completed a 7 day motorbike tour which began and ended in Quito. We chose this hotel as it was walking distance from bike shop. Our gear and boots were filthy. We asked if the boots could be cleaned and polished. This was done very promptly by Roberto. The shower was excellent. I loved the fresh flowers and roses throughout the hotel. The dinner service was quick and food delicious. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Kudos to the staff who are all very helpful and perform their duties with enthusiasm and a smile.
Nice friendly place.
The Hotel/staff was great, friendly. everything was nice. Location was good for walking around the "new side of Quito and just a short cab ride to the historic area. At night the area gets noisy, late into the night.
Basic but very friendly and nice atmosphere
Excellent location for exploring city. Staff very helpful with directions and assisting with special requests. Good dining room and friendly resident rabbit. Good value.
Great staff
Rooms were clean, fireplaces were great in the evenings, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is always someone at the front desk 24/7 which is also a plus. Bathroom was somewhat small, but it was clean and functional, and how much time do you spend in it anyway?
A relaxing home away from home
Great place to settle in and organize ones future trip. Great fire to settle in with a bool in the evenings..great food that kept us eating dinner at the hotel every night. Great staff that were very helpful with requests. And not too far from city centre where the parks, museums and churches were. A most enjoyable and relaxing stay.
Clean, Comfy and Yummy
Loved it here and will return when I revisit Ecuador again!
Home awY from home
Hospitality at its finest! Great breakfast, charming rooms and a staff that could not be more accommodating! The beds are so comfortable, this is a touch of home with the fire biting in the hearth. I will definitely stay here again!
Wonderful Service in a Wonderful Hotel
Fabulous hotel with super helpful staff very close to the touristy area of Quito. I had a wonderful two day stay here while traveling around South America. This was one of three hotels in Quito I stayed in and it was excellent! I desperately needed laundry done and the staff did it that day so I would have it the following day for a trip to Cotopaxi. I was also able to get a bagged breakfast but with fresh brewed coffee since I had to leave for the trip prior to the beginning of their breakfast service. I had a lovely room off the lobby with it's own patio/sitting area. The bed was super comfortable, wifi worked great, incredibly helpful and friendly staff (especially Gloria). with the exception of the bagged breakfast, I didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, but it seemed reasonable, just a little more than local places in the neighborhood. A wonderful hotel - would definitely return!
Great space and value for money.
we checked in late and left very early in the morning. the hotel however made a great impression on the both of us and we can suggest it to anyone in Quito. Would have loved to stay longer. The personnel was very friendly efficient.
Cute, clean, friendly. Excellent.
Fantastic place to stay. Excellent service, where the staff remember your name and will go out of their way to see that everything is ok. The room was very clean and comfortable. Hot water readily available. And Brownie the bunny is super cute. A nice touch in suburbia. I would recommend this hostal to anyone.
I'd stay there again!
The owner and staff all went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. All were very friendly, helpful and could not have been nicer. The hostal is comfortable and cozy - including the fireplace. I'd definitely recommend this place, and would stay there again!
Great location and Gloria makes the hotel great!
Loved the location.i felt very much at home and the staff at the hotel is wonderful.
Very homely and handy to heaps of things. Easy walking (flat) for exploring local area. Easy to get taxis from and to (with most knowing location). Lovely, friendly pet rabbit too.
