Very convenient location, about sixty steps to the metro exit, and five minute's walk to Gran Via. The room I have has no window. In fact, once you step into the hostal, the reception, hallway and bathroom are all enveloped by walls. You don't know it's day or night, rain or shine outside.

Malasaña Stay

as very accommodating and welcoming. Our room was a perfect place to rest while exploring the neighborhood of Malasaña. Excellent location with many Metro stations and restaurant options at your fingertips. Would certainly recommend.

I showed up here early in the morning totally exhausted and the woman at the desk went out of her way to take care of me. These guys are friendly, the place is clean, the WiFi is good, and the owners really care that guests are comfortable.

It is a really nice and affordable budget hostel for travellers who aren’t too fussy. Check in was simple and fuss free, the location is amazing. You are pretty much within walking distance to the main city centre. The Real Madrid stadium is easily accessible by train and takes less than 25 mins to reach. The hostel itself is clean. They provide towels and toiletries as well which many hostels don’t do. One little thing, as indicated by other reviewers, walls are a little thin so you can hear others in their room but it really isn’t that bad. Would highly recommend this!

The picture wasn’t the real room

The piso hotel room is in a central location but the vibe there is so odd to me. Maybe this is the standard in Europe but it’s so odd to hear everything around you. Every step and voice. The room was quite small and felt like staying in a hostel would have been a much better value for $$.

Very good and quite location and close to everything. The place is clean and the staffs are friendly and attentive. The walls could be a little thin, you can hear other guests talking and open/close their room door late night and early morning. The bed is a little narrow.

Great value for your money and excellent location.

Great value for your money! The place is inmaculate, rooms are big, nicely decorated and with a comfortable bathroom. Location is perfect, right in the bohemian Malasaña neighborhood, with plenty of bars and restaurants around and less than one block from a Metro station. The hotel is on San Bernardo street which is very lively and a few blocks away from popular Gran Via avenue. Highly recommended.

Hostel Abel

Great location and service was good hostel is nice but we got a very small and noisy room and a tiny window overlooking the air conditioning outside. Ok for one night for a budget trip.

Convenient location quiet and clean .

Only stayed one night and basically slept being completely exhausted after a 30 hour flight, but it was quiet and the staff speak English well and were very amenable and helpful. Especially Julia.

Central, excellent value

I wanted an inexpensive, no-frills base close to the centre. For the price, it was ideal. Clean, safe, efficient, convenient.

Cheap and cheerful!

Cheap and cheerful. Single room, no window but comfortable. Musty smell in the room but for £20 a night... its great value! friendly staff and clean bathroom.

Good location, noisy room.

Convenient location and friendly staff. Very thin walls so room was quite noisy and didn't feel very private. Door was left unlocked one day after room cleaning service. Pictures of room shown during the booking process did not match the room we booked at all - so the actual room we stayed in was much smaller, and definitely not as nice as in the picture.

Great value

The room was unexpectedly quite good although the bed was quite hot to sleep in as I think it was covered in plastic under the sheets. Bathroom is good and security is also good. We asked reception to book us a taxi but when none arrived we hailed one from the street at 5.30am - lucky it's a big city and there are loads of cabs! Great location near tapas bars and 10-15min walk to Sol

Central and comfy beds

The room was small, room 19. We had a tiny window which opened out to the smell of cooking 24/7. Our room had a sweet sickly smell, but couldn't open window as got cooking smell. This is our only criticism. HOWEVER the beds were so comfortable, really comfy. The shower was a power shower. Lovely bedding. Hostal staff friendly and helpful... we asked for a kettle and one was produced.. we took our own mugs and tea/coffee. Free wifi throughout. Right next door to a tapas bar, friendly staff, our free tapas plate got bigger each day. Free wifi Central for hop on hop off red tour bus. Turn right outside hostal. Walk to Main Street turn left 100metres there is bus stop, no 8 on map. Loads to see and do. Weather was colder than we anticipated, but luckily we could layer up on clothes. Defo return to hostal but not room 19. The hostal is bit tricky to spot, but no 55 is clearly shown on the door, go up the stairs to 1st floor, and ring the bell. Easy when you know.

Great little hostel. Friendly hosts. Powerful shower, which isn't always the case. 30 seconds from the metro. Would happily stay again.

We loved this hostal - very basic but offered everything we needed. Great location and lovely staff.

Room no. 1 ruined our weekend in Madrid.

We asked for a quiet room. WE were given Room no.1. We did not sleep for 3 nights. Extreme noise coming from lift outside the room, wooden stairs - up to the first floor where reception was - people coming and going. Wooden stairs inside the hostal - suitcases and people with high heels noise throughout the night. Discussions with receptionists at the hatch. WE asked to be moved after the first night but were not accommodated. Also the plumbing is noisey - its possible to hear people showering and flushing the toilet beside the room and up over it. Staff were very friendly and its a good location but Room no. 1 ruined our stay. Also, we wre not advised that you have to prepay in full for your stay on arrival. Also its not made clear that the hostal is on the first floor and just a main door in from the road - hard to find when it is dark at night and you are not sure of your surroundings when arriving for the first time. In short, we would not stay here again unless we were guaranteed a quiet room.

Lovely hotel on quiet street near center

The hotel staff is absolutely lovely and it is a great deal for the price. The room was quite small, but made good use of the space available. We enjoyed our stay so much we cancelled a different hotel to stay here again on our way back through Madrid.

Abel Victoriano - Madrid, July 2014

If you want nice accommodations at low cost, Abel Victoriano is a fine choice. The room was clean and modern, although small. The bathroom was quite nice, given the small dimensions. The street outside is noisy, but it was not a problem with the balcony door closed. The air conditioner worked great.

Very good location and beautiful staff

Loved staying here, only a short walk from gran via. The staff are lovely people especially Gabriella at the front desk!

Clean, Central, Quiet with fast internet and a gracious staff. I was happy to finish my stay in spain with such a nice experience.

Excellent one night stay. We would recommend this place for the location, just near Gran Via. Very pleasant staff, clean rooms and well decorated. Nice modern bathroom. Tip for the area is to try Bar Carmencita around the corner for a burger or just a drink.

Excellent place to stay on a budget.

This a hostel not a hotel and that is how I have graded it.It was very economical, room was made up and towels changed whenever I wanted, breakfst at the local cafe was included. Fresh Orange made to order, coffee or tea and a choice of the usual pastries ot toast.More for indivuals and couples than families. I'd use it again if going to Madrid. The hostels own website pictures are accurate, have a look.

Very CLEAN

Very clean well kept room in an excellent location right downtown. Only drawback was the hotel staff spoke NO English...had to call a friend to translate for us. Otherwise a fantastic, lovely hotel.

Es un hostal muy bien ubicado. La atención de Félix excelente y muy bien dispuesto a ayudar en todo. El recinto en si es pobre, nada especial, pero es Hostal no Hotel. Muy bien ubicado.

Bien, si no vas a dormir.

Hostal bien situado, habitación aceptable para el precio pagado, pero imposible dormir con el ruido. De madrugada sonaba un ruido como si fuera una alarma, horroroso, que decian era de las tuberías del edificio. No es que te despertara, es que te asustaba de madrugada y por la mañana temprano.

Todo perfecto y muy económico. Lo único que la habitacion es interior y el baño compartido, pero por el precio que tienen está muy bien. Es seguro y el personal es muy amable.

Lugar muy centrico, perfecto para acceder a cualquier parte de Madrid desde el centro, personal muy amigable y super atentos, buena limpieza, habitaciones cómodas, la cama muy cómoda, el detalle es que se escucha mucho el exterior de la habitación. Quitando eso todo genial.

Ambiente pulito e personale gentile. Peccato per gli spazi molto piccoli, ma lo sapevo.

Really good value for the money. Room was comfortable and had all the necessities. Very close to metro and central. Only issue was the room not having any window, which was suffocating sometimes. But besides that, very pleased with everything.

Pas d’air climatisé et pas la même chambre que sur la photo, une fenêtre dans la chambre qui donne sur la cage d’escalier, un ventilateur seulement

Ottima posizione, a 5 minuti a piedi dalla Gran Via, e con la fermata della metropolitana "Noviciado" affianco al portone. La camera era molto piccola, e con una piccolissima finestra affacciata sul patio interno, ma complessivamente perfetto che chi utilizza l'albergo come punto di appoggio durante la vacanza.

Muy limpio estaba el cuarto y el baño, la ubicación muy buena aunque es difícil encontrarlo ya que en la puerta del edificio hay un cartel muy pequeño

Buen calidad/precio para una noche en Madrid

al lado parada metro, habitación individual algo pequeña, pero suficiente para dejar el equipaje y pasar la noche, algo calurosa. Baño compartido limpio, personal amable.

La habitación era muy pequeña y se oía todo dentro del hotel. Por eso no he podido dormir mucho. Además no había ventana en la habitación. Pero el personal es simpático y la habitación tanto como el baño estaban limpios. El hostal es muy central y tiene una estación de metro justo al lado, así que se llega sin problema a todos sitios.

La habitacion supero mis expectativas, el hotel esta en un piso por lo que es algo ruidoso. Escuche a los huespedes que llegaban durante la noche

Hostal bonito y centrico

Muy bien. Hostal reformado, limpio, acogedor, céntrico, personal amable. La única sugerencia es que el personal que limpia las habitaciones no hablé alto al lado de la puerta cuando todavía hay habitaciones ocupadas. Entiendo que eso es difícil de controlar en los huéspedes que abandonan la habitación pero el personal del hostal debería tener más atención en no hacer tanto ruido

La habitación es tal cual se ve en la foto. Tanto la habitación como el baño muy limpios, no se le puede poner ninguna pega. El empleado de recepción, no se su nombre, pero creo por el acento que era argentino, muy amable y educado. es un gusto ir a un sitio así. repetiré. muy contenta con la estancia.

il sistema della pre autorizzazione della carta di creito , per chi come me non sapeva bene il funzionamento puo' creare dei problemi, anche perche' vari hostales o hotels su questo sistema applicano canoni distinti, chi ti preleva qualche centesimo per verificare la validita' della carta, chi ti preleva in automatioc l'importo dovuto e chi te lo blocca , dando per scontato che tutti viaggino con la carta di credito in tasca, accertarsi bene in ogni stuttura se e come intende usare questo sistema
